What exactly are you trying to do?
Do you:
A: have service through a provider other than T-Mobile and it isn't working with your T-Mobile locked phone?
B: have service with T-Mobile but your T-Mobile phone w/ active T-Mobile SIM card is not getting a signal?
In the case of A all you have to do is SIM unlock to be able to insert and use sim cards from other providers. (if you wish to change OS, Radio, or other aspects of the phone you can CID unlock, but you shouldn't need to do this any more--SSPL will "trick" your phone into thinking it is unlocked)
In the case of B, it sounds like the phone was reported stolen and has been blacklisted by the carrier or carriers in the area. In which case the phone will not work as long as its IMEI matches the one on the blacklist.

T-Mobile which country?
If its T-Mobile Austria and you are living somewhere near my town send me a PM and I will help you.....

Here you go
.... if you post your full name and address I will certainly send you exactly what you deserve.
I'm sure Interpol would love to have a chat.

UK < there i buy that phone on market "second hand well" it is many places in uk where peoples sell the used goodnes for funy cash, so i bought that phone with just charger, what now when i put simcard to that phone from t-mobile
i have full range but i cant call :/ when i put another simcard i dont have any range just "!" i try unlock that phone with stuf from moderator our genius "Pof"
exactly "HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a" , after that still that same, so i have imei-lock, its easy to send to my friend i germany or poland there that phone will be work fine but i wona use that hermes everywhere? have anyboody any idea on change imei?

For ZZan:
a, no i dont have any signal on another provider i can use only t-mobile,i have signal on t-mobile simcard but i cant make call even on emergancy call,
b how i say i have signal(range) but i cant call out and anyboody cant call to me
hmm intresting is that what u say about sspl, becouse i change many times software on wm 6.0 and better radio i try anything, i use imie-check and still that same :/ now i back to wm 5.0 from t-mobile and im stock i dont have any idea what doing now, if that is stolen phone i dont wonna lost my money, i think everyboody will be think like that i dont sale stolen phone i just buing that phone and didnt know anything about his past, please help me : (

In Austria there are also a lot of places where you can buy cheap phones and other electronic stuff.
But guess where this stuff is from?
Lot of Junkies are breaking in cars and homes or stealing phones in bars and so on to sell them cheap to get money to buy drugs. And if I say "a lot" I mean a lot - some hundred each month in my town.
If you bought this phone very cheap and its IMEI locked then you made a bad deal, sorry. Try to call the provider, ask why the phone is IMEI locked. if its a stolen one go to the next police station, tell them the story and ask for a letter of confirmation that you bought this phone without knowing thats its a stolen one. Then your provider will remove the IMEI lock.

locked by network

first off great formu guys, been reading alot the last day or so.
Just a quick question, will the xda2 unlock work on a hanset that has been "locked by the network" being offered one at a great price and just want to check first
Thanks in advance
Martza
'Locked by the network' could mean that the EMEI number is barred. Given the unit is available at 'a great price', this could indicate the unit is stolen or part of an insurance claim. If it is barred, then it would be useless as a phone, but useable as a Pocket PC.
tss, tss, tss
You mean IMEI ? International Mobile Equipment Identification
And i hope Martza means locked by network as in : only useable in combination with a contract with the specific provider.
the phone is boxed and has the stylus ect. not entirely sure when it's from. i never took it tho

Trion Imei

Is it Possible to change the imei number on a o2 xda trion ? if so is it software based thing or is it Hardware as in do i need to buy a clip.......
any advice on this i would be very grateful.......
I no its illegal here in the UK but what i also no is i brought the phone direct from O2 for £350 so i dont care what "David im a prick Blunkett" says ....
i also have two wizards which were on contract with O2 which i'v sorted using various tools off this site...... Now when i say were on contract thats ment as in i'v now left them ......... & for those who really want to no why its because there are WANK after two years with them there just toss ........ now on making this point yes i understand everyone as got there own opinion & this is just mine..... So what O2 did after "my im going leave you wankers" phone call is barred all three phones........ now i brought my trion direct from them not on contract or nothing just wanted the phone & they wont lift the bar this is why i just want to no Is it Possible to change the imei number on a o2 xda trion ? if so is it software based thing or is it Hardware as in do i need to buy a clip.......
any advice on this i would be very grateful.......
NO, no and NOOO
Now funny you should say that coz i said the same when the f**kers turned them off .............
This just to say a Very Big thankyou to a certain Member here for all his help, not to sure if i should name names so i wont, but he knows who he is......
"Nice one your a f**king star Thankyou very much"

BowFinger,
I am not sure if you expect any further replies to your questions because of your answers do not really motivate anybody ... !
However,
You should not attempt to change the IMEI number in your device because especially in the UK this is a very important thing (at least on O2 and Orange).
Whenever you make a phone call your IMEI will be checked to see if the phone was reported lost or stolen. If you insert an invalid IMEI number it will have just the same effect! The IMEI contains special information and is sorted in blocks. If you go ahead and change some values then you soon will figure out that network providers just can't identify your handset and do not allow you to call on their network.
You have 2 (legal) choices:
Work out things with O2
Change your network provider (as example switch to T-Mobile UK)
Cheers!
How would change network provider solve the imei problem,o2 have blocked it so t-mobile wont be able to unblock it. As far as i remember t-mobile lease mobile lines from o2 anyway?
The IMEI is only blocked (black listed) on the O2 network but not on others, meaning: you can't use the O2 network any longer but any other! As nice as it would be even for anti-theft protection - unfortunately network providers do not work together!

It might work like that in the US but in the uk,once the imei is blacklisted it is blacklisted on ALL networks. So the only place you can use the phone is abroad. Why do you think he wants to change the imei,so he can go back on O2 he has already stated what he thinks of them. He wants to change it so he can use it on another network.
So i am sorry to say it ,but you are wrong

Congratulations! I am glad to hear that providers work together in the UK!
Well, they must have 'joined-ventured' pretty fast because of I used to live in the UK until a couple of months ago!
Do they still SIM lock devices by default in the UK? This is one of the most things I hate here in the US ... Germany was better, they only locked PREPAY ...
Now with the supposed AT&T media net plan sweep a IMEI changer might actually be useful. I mean I'd love to upgrade to the AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) but am afraid they will transfer to the much more expensive data plan. I'd love to stick in am old IMEI number off of the many old phones I got lying around to avoid this. This is really a stupid rule it should be based on data useage not device type.

It has been like this since 1998 ,because of the dramatic rise in muggings for mobile phones, the idea being, it stops people stealing phones as they become worthless, but now you find they just unlock them, then sell them abroad
As for sim locking all the networks lock phones over here, unless you buy them from the carphone warehouse where they sell them on payg sim unlocked. But all contract phones are locked for 12-18 months depending on contract length, but they will unlock them for free after the contract ends.

tytn/m3100 question

hi guys,
so far ive unlocked the sim from my orange m3100, installed windows 6, some nifty tools,
and im over the moon with it all!
now, my question is this , ive had to (for reasons i wont go into) default on my orange contract of three years, and so the unlock, and move to 02,
now, i havnt IMEI unlocked,
do you think, in a fee weeks/months, etc orange will IMEI brick the fone?
even if i settle what i legally owe them?
is it worth forking out the 20 quid to have the IMEI unlocked?
thanks for any input guys n gals!
thanks for the info so far on the rest of the site!
if you are on about imei-unlock.co.uk they dont unlock the IMEI they unlock the SIM of the phone. If you dont pay your bill, of course they will block the IMEI. Maybe they might not block the IMEI if you pay the outstanding bill, but you will have to discuss that with them.
Anyway i will say this again so you are clear imei-unlock unlocks the SIM not the IMEI. Oh and you wont find any tools on here to unlock the hermes IMEI either. So pay the bill or get blocked mate . your choice

paying the outstanding bill is not a prob, fella.
im worried they'll brick me cos im defaulting on the contract (legally though)
looks like i'll have to throw myself on their mercy...
as ive had the phone two years, by god, theyve got their moneys worth out of me (rip off bstards)
hah
As I'm in Australia I can only comment on here... BUT, if the contract has been paid out, then the phone, with it's IMEI, are legally yours... If they block it you could take it up with your countries version of Consumer Affairs... Most contracts in OZ run that you pay the outstanding contract (and any handset repayments) and you can walk away with no problem. They are legally able to block the IMEI IF you don't pay the handset charges BUT they are generally included in the final payout they request.
Once all charges are paid the contract becomes null and void.
Cheers...

question about lumia 800 sim unlock

I appologies if the question doesnt belong here but i really thourougly searched before posting and i couldnt find clear answer.
Im a owner of lumia 800 unfortunatly sim locked to orange austria and bootloader locked.
Before offtopic answers i already tried talking to orange and that is not going to happen and also i couldnt find one single online service for imei unlock all of them dont support orange austria.
So my question is do you know anyone successfully unlocked lumia and what software, hardware or flashing box has used? and to you know any hardware flashing box that supports closed bootloader lumias for sim unlocking? i understand bootloader unlocking is not possible right now but a local service shop told me to leave the phone for 2 days to put it on some hardware box to calculate the key for 2 days?! and then they will unlock it but i really didnt believed them seemed littel strange never heard of that kinda unlocking. have you?
unlock
Your out of luck looking for a software solution for unlocking your lumia as your bootloader is locked, that means no access to the nand which is crucial to the unlock process.
only way you will be able to unlock it is by calling orange again, now dont quote me but i think there is a EU Law saying that after a certain time period a operator cant with held the unlock but i am not totaly sure maybe some reaseaching and telling orange the score might help
rob:good:
In the EU it's a by nation thing with different laws, in Austria there is a legal obligation to unlock the mobile phone (lucky!) but T-Mobile charges €150 for the pleasure (or €50 for out of contract phones) of unlocking an iPhone for instance.

ill try that in fact i contacted them again and they offered me unlock for 110eu. and the problem with that i think its a bit 2 much and the second one they want me to go to austria in a orange shop to show them the reciept (that i dont have it right now) and the account password that i dont have it and practictly stupid to pay airline tickets and travel to there and pay 110 eu and even that its imposible again couse theyll mail me code weeks later only in austrian adress so the only option it seems to continue to seek online service or wait some progres in the bootloader unlocking. Personaly i think it can be done but i really dont blame the developers its still a small owners community and nokia codding its not as liberal as the android manufacturers. But still i like the phone its like a piece of functional jewel

[Q] s3 blocked

hi people of xda.....
iv got a chance to buy a galaxy s3 that has been blocked through the network t-mobile is it possible for it to unblocked using odin or some other software??
I heard that it's possible using an app called voodoo.
Though i'm not so sure.
But it might be possible.
Search the forums
IF the phone is blocked by provider (not SIM-locked) - that usually means that it was claimed as stolen.
I have no idea how'r you, but I'd never bought the item marked as stolen...
doesnt unblocking involve change of imei and that is very illegal which will attract the police
just try a different network and them sell the phone abroad untill its fully locked
The word blocked means someone has reported it lost or stolen the IMEI has had a block on and it will not work on any network.
Changing your IMEI is illegal and we cannot discuss it on XDA.
However if you mean locked it can be unlocked from t-mobile to work on any network, that is a SIM lock.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
i do mean blocked but i dnt wanna do owt illegal i.e change imei i dnt know how you do that anyway... reason asking is a friend of mine was cleaning his loft out and his fone died and he cudnt remember were he left it so he rang t-mobile who i presume blocked it through insurance and he got another one.... a few days later he found his fone... so thats the reason for asking bout unblocking etc.....
You ask the network to unblock it and return the new phone if asked to .
The IMEI is blocked by the network and XDA cannot help in any illegal practice as trying to change an IMEI .
Do not buy it as you are buying a stolen phone that belongs to the insurance company .
jje
So, in other words: you and your friend made a deal:
HE will claim it as missing/stolen, HE will take money from insurance, YOU will pay him some % of the price, right?
Well, I can assure you that this is illegal as well.

no the phone was advertised on a facebook buy and sell site am not into illegal crap i just wanted to know if it was possible for it to be done
You need a court order for that. The block is not in the hardware or firmware, but in the network, and since you have no control of the network, there is nothing you can do.
If you want to play fair, your only choice now is to return the phone to your friend so he can give it to the real owners now: the insurance company. Only they can request the carrier to unblock the phone.
You may keep the USB cable, power supply and headphones!
---- side note:
BTW, your friend is a dimwit, isn't him? Not being able to find a phone - that features SamsungDive - is a very dumb argument.
And, since it is a S III it does have SamsungDive, so both the carrier and insurance company can easily find out where the phone is. Since the phone has been reported as stolen, don't be surprised if the cops knock on your door in a few hours.
