I'd like to know who all here have flashed the 2.06 rom and reflashed to another or downgraded back to the original because of rom instability.
If you have please post the instability issues you had and which rom you flashed to and why.
I have some instability issues but I'm trying to decide if I should try another rom and then I have to determine which rom.
X
Mods if this should be put somewhere else lock it and I'll repost in the thread you suggest.
I really liked that ROM, and I hate carrier customizations. But then XDA Live 0.1 came out and changed everything.
I had cingy rom installed but installed "Special K's" XDA-LIVE.

Slingplayer and FizzTraveller are a deal breaker for me. I cannot go to any rom where those 2 items won't work.
Are you having lockups with 2.06?
I have the new Cingular ROM on my 8525 and have been running it a few weeks. I like it (and find it stable) ... check out this thread I started and am trying to maintain dealing with known issues on the new ROM and some solutions (definitely check out the registry hacks on the wiki for this).
Personally, these issues are minor annoyances to me, and I have no thoughts of downgrading to the older ROM.

Is that because you watch entirely too much television, or because you paid entirely too much for mobile TV?!?
Just kidding, but not really.
bricked.
I flashed my JASJAM to the latest Cingular ROM, and noticed the bizarre SD card going missing problem. I tried to flash it back to the HTC ROM from November, and the stupid phone reset itself in mid-flash. Bricked.
No matter what I did, I couldn't get it back. The phone worked fine, except for the "NO GSM" error... which means no phone functions. I even put the 1.01 bootloader on there (but then it wouldn't let me upgrade it to 1.04). It refused to write to the radio portion of the ROM. I followed every instruction on here multiple times, with no luck, tried every ROM out there, tried every command (the erase... commands, etc). MTTY just showed it hanging every time on "Entering Radio Loader".
It's in California now, hopefully they'll be able to fix it. I'm sure they're going to charge me a small fortune since it's obvious I was screwing with it (it boots up with a 1.01 bootloader, and has an HTC logo on the splash, when it should be JASJAM).
In the meantime, I'm back on my Motorola L6. Oh god. I forgot how painful GPRS is. I'm lucky to get 23kbps.
I upgraded to the 2.06 rom and had all the decribed problems identified on this forum. I kept 'losing' all the contents of my sd card (a real problem with all the tomtom maps loaded plus music and photos)...couldn't get smartdial back to full function even with some updates...and i did face 3 or 4 freezes a day with the rom. I also couldn't get xm radio to stream properly (wouldn't load windows media player to stream music). I finally reflashed back to the original Cingy rom and have everything working good again. I hope when Cingular officially releases this rom update they will have these problem addressed and fixed.

Wow. I saw none of this. I actually really liked the "AT&T" 2.06 ROM on my TyTN - even better than the 2.05 ROM which was supposed to be "vanilla". It sucks that you guys had problems...

@dwcliff: No problems flashing back to the original ROM, then? I am not SuperCID. If I give the 2.06 and want to go back, that shouldn't matter, right?

I tried it (as well as the WWE Test ROM) and quickly reverted back to 1.35 afterwards. I could not successfully sync with two 'puters with either AKU3 version. I could sync OK with the first 'puter, then sync OK with the second 'puter, but as soon as I went to sync again with the first, ActiveSync would delete my existing partnership and ask me to create a new one, then the process would be repeated when I tried to sync with the second, ad infinitum...

I been trying so many variants of CrossBOW WM6 for my G4 Wizard but sick of it, they never work out. Only successful was the WM5 Wizard love ROM, wut could be the issue?
one of many issues.. it could be.
what kind of issues are you getting? i have no problems with wm6
maybe you're not CID Unlock thats why you cant get any wm6 working on your phone..
be specific..
If your Cid Locked check my thread to unlock it then try some wm6 roms
My phone is not CID-locked because I myself installed "Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2" ROM over the Imate Supplied default ROM. Yesterday, i tried installing "Molski.Biz_AKU3.3_21911_8MB_Crossbow" and you know what happend, only it changed the bootscreen logo and all other ROM was still the same "2.26.10.2".
Wizard Love rom works on cid-locked phones, so this is not an a good rom to indicate whether your phone is cid-locked or not. Given that the same rom remains after various flashes im pretty certain your phone is cid-locked.
Agree With You Slicped
I agree totally with you slicped. I have been trying all versions of "crossbow" and the #1 is Wizard Love. The only issue is the horrible wizard love splash screen.
LMAO.....At the people who dont read tutorials and the thousands of posts with people who has had the same problems but has be able to fix them to find out how they can possibly do the same, but yet just jump to downing every rom out there because they cant seem to get them to work. WOW!

Typical behaviour of a CID-Locked phone Have you payed at imei-check for unlocking CID? No..... CID-locked! You can do two things:
- pay for unlocking
- use shelltool
All u have to do is search around......I've only been on the forum for a couple of days and I've flashed my G4 8125(which is cid-locked) twice already. I have WM6 running fine on my phone, just do a search w/ your specific prob and its almost a lock to find an appropriate thread......also thanks to all the chefs for their great work.
try this and just replace the nk.nbf file in step 3 w/ any cooked rom os u want to use. works like a charm for me...just be patient.

Hi all,
So I installed the Official Sprint ROM issued this month and I have the following problems:
- Battery won't last more than one day
- Phone won't wake up from standby at certain times
- Phone slow after running some applications, including built-in apps like Word, Excel, or IE. Sometimes this result in the phone just simply hanging
In either situation above, except battery issues, a soft-reset is required.
I have tried the following:
- Do a hard reset, try without ANY applications
- Remove HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and SDDAEMON.exe
Anyone have the above three problems? with the new Sprint Official ROM?
I feel like going back to the old Sprint ROM. I have a separate BT GPS, so I don't care about A-GPS functionality as long as my phone is stable.
Why don't you cook a clean rom with the 3.0.1 kitchen and get rid of the sprint rom?
One question - did you let the customizations run after you installed the ROM?
If not, you need to hard reset let the customizations run, hard reset again and then you can bypass the sprint customization.
Otherwise......
......now that you have the new radio installed, I'd recommend trying one of the clean ROM's from either No2Chem (over at PPCGeeks) or DCD's 3.0.1 ROM.
DCD's has a "Touch" look to the skins and has over 24MB of RAM free on first boot.
All you'd need to do is run the 2.40 Olipro SPL unlocker and then flash DCD's 3.0.1 ROM.
Much more stable than the OEM.

I did on the 1st try, but something gone wrong, most troublesome is that the "Text Message" account now shown in Pocket Outlook. So I hard reset again and let the customizations run.

So you're saying that it's better to use Sprint's official Radio but use DCD's ROM?
What I gather from this forum and PPCGeeks is that people either use Sprint's Official Radio and ROM or just forego that and use kitchen's ROM completely, but not a combination of both as mentioned above.
[EDITED]
OK, so I got Olipro and DCD 3.01 Kitchen. Just so I am doing the right thing since I have ALREADY installed Sprint Official Rom with Radio v. 3.35.05, please let me know if this step is correct:
1) Connect to ActiveSync. Sync as usual
2) Run Olipro v. 2.40. This will open a Command Prompt. Let it do it's thing.
3) Once done, load DC 3.01 Kitchen ROM. No other Radio ROM needed.
4). Done.
Am I correct?
There is no radio with the kitchen. The sprint official radio release (3.35.04) is the official radio whether you use the sprint official update rom or a custom rom of your choosing. No other radio works with the newer roms except this radio. That is why if you choose to use a custom rom, you STILL have to flash the sprint update to get the radio, then you flash your custom rom on top of it (with no radio) to get your own rom on there.

I've cleaned that ROM (gutted to the base OS and functions) and have experienced none of those issues and none of those complaints are voiced in the thread using that kitchen.
I do not think that your problems are due to that specific base of Sprint ROM. Possibly some of the apps or simply a bad flash? Did you attempt to remove HTC Guardian or other components from within the active OS or did you extract and build your own ROM from the Sprint?
For severe battery problems there a couple of threads where a few people have experience excessive drains, but that's with the more recent DCD builds.

That is correct.
DCD's ROM doesn't include the Radio, and the new radio version is what unlocks the GPS and EVDO REV A features. The SPL unlocker is what allows you to load ROM's that aren't OEM on your device, and If you aren't familiar with how to build your own ROM using DCD's kitchen (it's pretty easy once you get started), then he has carrier specific ROM's already linked on his most recent release page. The links are just above the images.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376150
Yeah just unlock with olipro 2.4, then you have a choice between dcd (which I personally use) or another clean rom like no2chem's.
same issue as stated in first post
Hey just want to say great site guys! There is no other website that can comes close to the knowledge available here. But in response to the who started this thread the official sprint rom is crap! Once phone goes into standby or "LOCK" 99% of the time "Soft Reset" is required. Ive "Soft Reset" my mogul no B.S. 100 times since I've flashed there ROM. Radio is a great improvement but honestly, they need to hire or pay NOCHEM or DCD for their talents because w/out their ROMS the MOGUL would've ended up on the side of the highway. I agree with the last post. Use the official radio, but don't run yourself through the wringer with the SPRINT ROM. You will rip your hair out!
meek420, again, I've had zero issues of lock-ups using a cleaned out version of the Sprint ROM.
I do not think such problems are endemic to that ROM.
All,
Any WM6.1 Std. on Cingular 3125 users here? Can someone give me their take on how well this upgrade works and how overall happy or unhappy they are with the upgrade? I am very interested in doing the upgrade, but don't want to lose features or find that usability is not reliable, or that the upgrade works but 6.1 Std is less "responsive" than WM5. I know there is a certain amount of risk, and I am pretty tech-savvy, so I am not too worried about that, but want to hear from others that are using this, whether they are really satisfied or not. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

You wont loose features (other then the bloatware that is built in by AT&T - if you miss that, you might not want to upgrade). As for responsiveness - it is quite snappy - probably even faster then the wm5 rom you're running now (likely largely due to the removal of the bloatware)
rom
download the rom that you currently have, that way if you don't like the wm6.1 (but I can't see why you would not) you can reinstall the original.

Can I ask you another question - I noticed in your signature you are using 6.1 PRO on your 3125. I read some other posts here about PRO being really made for touchscreen devices (the 3125 is not) and STD for non-touch devices. Is that true? Is my current WM5 "STD"? I think I'd be happier with the simpler interface & closer to what I've been using (as opposed to a virtual cursor, etc.). Am I correct that this is the main difference between PRO and STD?

When you say "download the rom that you currently have" - can I download my current rom on my phone, complete with all my settings and everything? Kind of like a full backup? backup
Backup your current device with a backup program, I use sprite, but any that backs up all of your information is fine.
Then download the official rom for your device. If you decide you do not like your upgrade, you can install the official rom and restore it from your backup.
Both the WM6.1 Standard and Pro will work on your phone, however the Pro version was designed for a touch screen device, Erofich did an amazing job at making this unofficial rom/platform work on the 3125.
Try them both and see which you like, there is plenty of information on this forum to teach you how to use and install programs.

Noobie questions (sorry!) Please help!
All,
I downloaded the original Cingular/ATT Rom, just in case, and bought Sprite and backed up my settings. I downloaded SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe and ran it (from my PC, is this correct?). SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe seemed to run okay, and gave me the message "SDA Successfully unlocked, Please Reboot SDA Now!". I rebooted my phone and did not notice a change (I assume I should?) I ran the Rom update for WM6.1 Standard, which opened up a DOS-looking box that stayed there forever and did not indicate it was doing anything. After just over an hour I disconnected my phone and rebooted it, no change.
My questions:
1) Do I run SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe from my PC or from the WM phone itself?
2) Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
3) What does CID Unlock do, and do I need it?
Just to review, I have a Cingular 3125 with WM5, and I want to go to WM6.1 Standard.
Please help! Thanks!

Actually, to set the record straight, especially for anyone else looking to do this with a Cingular 3125 (ONLY), here are the facts, as I ran into them:
1) No, you don't have to unlock the CID (SuperCID). I didn't, on a stock Cingular/AT&T 3125 and it worked fine.
2) SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe was not needed either, in fact it caused problems for me (see #3). Erofich's WM6.1 STANDARD ROM install has it's own version of this app built in and it did all the work.
3) "following the tutorials..." - sorry, and no offense, but that's BS. This site, as well as most if not all Linux sites I've seen suffer from the same "too many cooks" problem. There are sooo many people posting stuff, most with at best a half-knowledge of the required technology, that the noob is hit with a lot of crap to weed through and try. Keep in mind, this is very common with non-moderated Linux sites, and I don't mean any disresepect, but it is reality.
Example to explain #2 and #3: I read in this forum and in the Wiki's here that I needed SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe. It ran fine and dropped a couple of files on my cell. Trying to install the ROM (Erofich's fantastic WM6.1 STD) would crash every time, because it has a version of this same app built-in. I ended up removing SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe's files from my PC and my cell, resetting my cell, and running just Erofich's ROM install and voila! it all worked like a charm. My point: I had to find this out "trial and error", after MANY tries, as a noob, and it was NOT like the forums or Wiki or tutorials said it was. Lesson learned: the tutorials are not gospel.
Thanks,
Frank

Its very important to make it if you have an old bootloader version - 2.04 and older.
And btw, there are my recommendations for never flashed StarTrek devices:
1) make a SuperCID!
2) flash the latest official Cingular 3125 rom (v4.1.502.5) to your StarTrek (even if you have i-mate Smartflip, Qtek 8500, Dopod S300/710(+), Orange SPV F600 or HTC S411)
3) and after that flash an unofficial rom
A vote for RTFM

I wholeheartedly agree with Erofich. I don't know how you possibly got it to work without following Erofich's instructions to the letter - maybe the things you did had a residual effect and finally everything aligned for you.
I am glad things worked out for you but don't disparage the excellent tutorials in this forum - if you read and follow them EXACTLY, it WILL work!
Also, this site is moderated and it does get the job done if you READ READ READ.
I have the Cingular 3125 and had it loaded with the latest official rom. Like Geekzilla I was unable to go through the supercid step. It kept getting stuck & giving me errors. I just ran the upgrade to 6.1 standard and it worked great. I didn't see any reason to backup anything either because I syncronize with an exchange server so all of my contacts and calender entries just reloaded into the new version. It worked great and I recommend it.
I'll also say that it wouldn't hurt to try the pro version for a couple of weeks. It will take some getting used to but it's really fast and it has lots of additional capabilities for power users. My phone locks up when I try to use virtual pointer but I have been able to do everything just using the buttons. To be honest I can't decide which I like better as I keep alternating roms. I only had one problem when going from the pro version to the standard. The fix was to go back and reload the official rom and then reload standard.

With all due respect, I spent a few weeks reading the forums and wikis here before messing with my phone. I did not want to brick it. And just so you know, I am an IT Manager with 16+ years of computer, server, networking and infrastructure experience. I've used cooked ROMs (firmware) for Linksys and Netgear routers. While I may have been a relative noob on hacking my phone, I was not that much of a noob that I cannot follow directions and get it done.
If I said that it worked without SuperCID, then it worked without SuperCID. If you read the reply post after yours, even someone else (Ramfan) explains that this worked for him also. I am pretty sure I even read a previous post from Erofich where he states that the Cingular 3125 ROM works without it.
Anyway, bottom line, I did not mean to get all "pissy" and mean. This is a great site, and you folks have some great stuff here, especially Erofich's ROMs and the others that I am sure also rule. However, truth is, in an open forum like this, there is some great info, and some inaccurate info. It is the nature of the beast, and I was not trying to slam this site, just state a fact. If this offended you, then I apologize.
Thanks,
Frank

I initially tried to do the SuperCID and application unlock but I couldn't get either to work with my phone. Maybe it has to do with the initial firmware on the phone. I actually got my 3125 at the AT&T store the day that they first arrived in Richmond, VA. Maybe the later phones needed the application unlock.
I've loaded and reloaded 6 different ROM's on my phone with no trouble. I realized that I was taking a risk but it didn't really matter to me as I have a newer Pantech Duo, 3G phone with WM 6.1. However now that I'm able to use these cooked ROM's on my 3125 it's actually become my everyday phone again.
In comparison between my DUO and 3125 I don't really see much difference in data speeds (3G vs Edge) but I prefer the clamshell design of the 3125.
By the way I'm running Pampooh's 6.1 standard version right now. It's definitely the most suitable rom for this phone that I've found. However I'll be interested in trying any future 6.1 pro roms or 6.5 roms.
Need help with upgrade
Hello, I followed the instructions to upgrade my 3125 to the 6.1 ROM. However, when I run the SPL on the phone I get a quick message "searching for SD card", then the phone goes to red, green & blue stripes with text:
IPL 4.01.0001
SPL 2.04.0000
and nothing happens. Rebooting the phone gets me going again. Then I tried to run the ROMUpdateUtility on the PC and it caused the same thing to happen. The frustrating thing is that I got this working about 6 months ago but had to reset my device. Now I can't seem to get it back to 6.1.
HELP!
Sorry, but my frequent frustration with Windows Mobile eventually got to be too much. I've shelved my WM phone and bought an iPhone. Seriously, I believe it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Good luck!
Hello,
I have a huge Problem:
Last weekend i installed HSPL on my European HTC Titan and flashed Dynamics V2.0.
This Rom was extremely buggy and wasn't booting again after I turned it of once.
Then I tried the second Rom, Eburon V2.1, which had the same Problems.
After that I installed the European Stock 7.8, which worked better but also stopped working after I installed the official Facebook App.
The next one I used was EB Edition V2.6, worked for a whole day but stopped working after I installed an App from the market. Now the phone isn't booting any more.
I have always installed the right radio, which was in the download file.
My question is:
Are those custom roms so buggy or am I the only person who cannot install any Rom?
How can I fix these problems?
When there is no solution to that I have to sell my HTC Titan and buy an Android Phone again, where custom roms are really working...

The answer to your question is; no! I'm currently running Eburon 2.1 and it's running as good as Eburon 2.0 which I've posted runs as smooth as a baby's butt! I'm not familiar with the European Stock 7.8 and I'm curious as to whether it's a custom ROM and designed to run with HSPL. Microsoft's Facebook app has always been buggy; however, within the People Hub it runs there too and all you have to go is go up under your settings and accounts and put your username and password there and you're good to go. As for your phone not booting, I have no idea.
What you need to do is literally start over; if...if...you do not have HSPL; double check this up under your bootloader. Attempting to install all these different ROMs begs the question if you re-locked your phone. Start from knowing for a fact your device is HSPL and has the words "CottulaH" on the bootloader screen. If it does, proceed to flashing your ROM but make sure you have at least a 50% battery charge and the installation process isn't disrupted for any reason. It's a toss up here as to which ROM is the best but you can't go wrong with either the Dynamic 2.0 or Eburon 2.x series.

Sounds to me like you are getting bad flashes? Most WP7 custom roms are very stable and perform well 99% of the time. Been using the Dynamics rom on one of my Titans for 2 months or so with no problems whatsoever. The official FB app is buggy...I don't even both installing it.
Now, I'm not here to bash Android, but I dabbled into cooking some Android roms a few years ago. IMHO custom roms on WP are about 10x's more stable than any Android rom I've come across.
Ok, thanks for your replies, but just don't use the official Facebook app isn't a solution.
Could it be a solution to wait ca. one hour after installing a rom and let the phone configure everthing (maybe the phone needs that time)?
Because I set up all my accounts and install the apps I need directly after the rom has booted. Maybe it works if I wait before doing that.

Definitely - not. This is not a reason of your issue. I would offer to repeat the procedure of HSPL-ing. All customs work at least not worse than the stock roms.
I guess you may have the hardware issue. To be 100% sure - try to flash older stock - like 2.05 (with 16 radio). If it also does not work for you - than - pass your phone to the workshop - it's hardware.

I had that idea after flashing Deepshining V3: The readme says that you have to activate "Trust all applications" in Root Manager, I wanted to do that, but I got an error message "No root access. Be sure you have fully unlocked your rom".
This was very weird, because that's the app needed to permit other Apps root access.
Also, none of the 3 soft buttons worked.
I waited a couple of minutes and restarted the phone several times, and suddenly the soft buttons worked and Root manager had root access.

Looks like the phone is swapping or caching something for ages. Maybe it's a Storage card malfunctioning. So hopefully the fixing will be just card replacement.
Mhh, ok, so what should I tell HTC? I can't say that I wanted to install custom roms, but none of them is working, so the phone needs a card replacement xD.
I tried installing Dynamics V2.0 again, and it works until I try to install WhatsApp, then it ends up in bootloops.
But the original stock 7.5 Mango worked without any problems. If the storage card is damaged, the original rom would also not work.

Did you install stock Mango AFTER you had tried all possible customs and it worked w/o issues?

No, before flashing a custom Rom everything worked, and since I tried to install custom roms I have nothing but Problems...

So - once again - try to flash stock. If it works - the problem is installing HSPL. If it does not work properly - just send the phone to workshop. Maybe it's just bad coincidence - the card died when you had installed HSPL....

Maybe it works now.
I did the whole HSPL Flash Thing again and now I was able to install WhatsApp on Dynamics V2.0.
It's only a small Progress, but it is one.
I will try the Rom tommorrow and if it crashes again, I go back to Stock 7.5.
similar problem
my Problem is, that after installing the Dynamics Rom, the device is just showing the white bootscreen with the htc-logo on it.
I am still able to enter bootloader mode, but I don't see any advantage in it.
The device was Vodafone-branded.
I hope someone can help me.
Did you follow the instructions at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684912 before flashing the Dynamics Rom?? If you didn't debrand and unlock with HSPL you get stuck or have the wrong radio rom installed.

I did. But I think I know what I was doing wrong. The step between finishing HSPL installation and Dynamics setup...should have I installed the phone first and done a Zune synchro? Cause I didn't -.-
Just install the radio rom that comes with the Dynamics rom. That should do it. You don't need a Zune synchro afterwards unless you want to copy pictures, music, videos back to your HTC.
