You are right Brother! Where ever I go, people keep wandering wat huge phone I was using but when they saw how wonderful to have large screen view they were amaze and was asking where I got it cos you can never fine any even on the auction or ebay.
I too had iphone before switching to Athena. Iphone cant do the very basic thing i need is my office files and the pdf files. Syncrionizing my office mail is a breeze which I only read on my train ride home.
No matters how , my Athena will be the last phone cum pda cum camera cum ipod cum video player that i will ever have.
It aint heavy, its my buddy!!!!!
I second you on that guys.....Been changing device and finally found this phone and so far really fulfill my needs....The big screen is just amazzziiingggg............Not to mention the power we had in this advantage....
Ditto, ditto, ditto. I've had mine 15 months now and I don't see anything, even "coming soon", that will be able to replace it.
I, too, still get "what is that" when I pull it out in public. A few months ago I was at the AT&T store due to a problem with my wife's phone and when I pulled my phone out every employee gathered around to stare and ask questions. I'd say its pretty hard to impress a cell phone store employee - and the Athena does it.

every where u turn everyone has now an iphone. and they think they are the sh!!!. i know some of us have seen it. but as soon as i pull out my x7500 i get questions like what is it. no matter where i go i always get asked that and sometimes not to be rude i just say "me no speak ingles". the only draw back its not a phone where everyone in ur block has. it sometimes can get u detained like last week i went here in chicago to a federal building and the security guard pulled me aside after i put everthing on the tray to go thru the metal detector and kept asking what it was i showed the moronsky for 5 minutes and he said it wasnt so i had to make a call from it just to show him.
i think it was cell phone discrimination ;-).

I've got a Touch HD because it's more portable but I still use my athena for reading (which I do a lot) and office tasks. After the huge screen of the athena, any other device is a let-down, screenwise. (sighs)
I've got spare batteries for both devices and usually end up with both, but using the athena more. I can't get myself to get rid of it!

Which other device can sit on my desk, on my monitor stand, not take up any space, allow me to stay connected to Face book through app - msn with voice and instant pic send and also stay connected to my home PC through logmein all day
I connect to an RDP on one of our servers here and I have mouse + keyboard plugged in via USB - I dont even need a PC on my desk to work!
- and still be able to read it from more than 15 CM away.....
then let me take aGSM call when it comes in?
Then let me plug in USB gamepad and play SNES GBA? etc...
I have samsung Omnia HD as my main phone but, if I take a bag with me, Ameo comes along!
yarod, have you tried My Mobiler (www.mymobiler.com)? My Athena sits on my desk all day, too, and this app makes a 2nd mouse and keyboard unnecessary. Puts the Athena desktop right on your desktop monitor, and passes your mouse/keyboard through to the phone. Or, you can set it up so the Athena becomes an extended desktop space for your desktop, but I haven't found a good use for that yet.
I love this app.

again im a proud owner of the athena
every where i go in chicago i have yet to see another x7500. theres a lot of iphones out there and othet phones but im the only one with a nice viewable screen and lately alot of of people have those little cheap laptops with the 8 inch screen so all i do is sit next to them and pull out my athena with keyboard and all and all they do is stare. it still gets alot of attention
Ive had a htc touch and omnia since i got my Ameo but I still use the Ameo its still the preverable K9's testicales. Though I do love the Omnia, I take it every where as its slightly more portable. and very very stable. but it aint got a 5" screen. I pull that out and always everyone asks whats that.
Does any other wooter have the stapleshotspot listed in their wifi connection list? It makes me think ViewSonic just repackaged all the staples stocked/returned units and sold them to woot at a great price.
FYI My gtab arrived on 3/30 packaged as new and didn't find anything out of place in the box. There was no initial setup wizard when I started it. It booted to classic home, and had the leaves live wallpaper with angry birds and flash pre-installed.

Sounds like you got a floor demo unit.
Was it shrink wrapped? Why didn't they wipe them all down?
Yes, it was shrink wrapped and everything in the box looked good. I a not sure if it was a staples floor model that VS repackaged for the woot sale.
mine was basically the same way and so was everybody else's (I think). Mine had "dlink" on the wifi list, but the wallpaper was the same as well as the installed apps.
Other have posted that theirs was similar.

I just unboxed mine last night and charged it. It looked to be in pristine condition. If I find out it has previous hotspots on it, I will be contacting woot. As i was under the impression I was getting a brand new unit.

Has there been confirmation that these aren't refurbs?

Hi guys, I just received a response from woot concerning my Tablet having a DLINK access point configured previous to my receiving the unit. Here is their response.
The item should have been new. We will have a replacement sent to you. Please use the return label below to send back the item that does not appear to be new.

It had ClockWorkMod already installed!
This is really, really good news. It really puts Woot in a good light and should ease the minds of a few people out there wondering if their units were actually refurbs. Looks like they were probably pulls from Staples. Regardless, if Woot's standing behind the product, it's good news for the rest of us if we have issues.

Mine arrived yesterday, no stapleshotspot that I noticed.
I also had no setup wizard and it went to the classic home. I had quite a few FCs at first. After updating to 3588 OTA, I got the initial setup wizard and it put me back into TnT without any apps installed. (Angry Birds, Flash, etc)
For anyone this has happened to: Your apps are all still there. I forget the path off-hand, but you can reinstall Flash, Angry Birds, etc from the File Explorer. Now that I've done that, everything is running great. No FCs, all the apps are working fine and I'm ready to root / VEGAnize my gTab tonight when I get home.
I also noticed that in my Music folder I had some mp3s by BELL Brothers or something similar. Anyone else?
Mine came from TigerDirect, but it also booted to the classic home, and the web browser had a cached CNN page displayed (I hadn't set up wifi yet). It's almost as if some of the units get tested before being sealed, because otherwise it was pristine. That or they are flashing the same OS image on every tab, and they all happen to include classic home as default and that CNN page in the cache.
I contacted woot and told them what kind of apps I had on there.
All they replied back with was, "Would you like a refund or replacement?"
All I really wanted was an explanation. It's not worth the effort and going through another 5-10 days of waiting so I'll just stick with what I have.
same here.. no wifi setup but some mps and the water live wallpaper when i reset it .. those were gone.. so it wasnt in pristine condition.. also i think there is supposed to be cling wrap over the display which mine didnt have..
but other than that it was fine and is working good now with vegan 5.1.1
other than my innability to get my calendar entries from my phone into google and out to the tab.
Mine had 2 web pages in the browser history (youtube page for Blonde Bombshell and the yahoo.com main page) when I booted it up. Also there was no plastic screen protector that needed peeling off (not sure if this tab comes with one... maybe I'm just spoiled by every other electronic device out there).
Just got mine last night and didn't notice anything weird but didn't get a user's manual. Didn't think to look at the connections but just did and only the ones I've add.
Screen looks perfect so no complaints from me...

I owned the blueant T1 and a few of the older blueants and for the most part I liked them but the earhook was always a problem for me it always kept sliding off my ear. They changed designs on the Q1 headset but changed back on the Q2 for some reason.
I heard good and bad things about this headset.

ill report back when i get it. the estimated delivery date is the 10th. the two big things that stuck to me when looking at reviews is that when a call comes in it tells you the number rather than the name, and with the right firmware you have the option to streaming music through it.

That's not completely true with all blueants you can download your contacts into the headset and it will read the contacts name to you jawbone headset only read the number.the problem with blueant is if you change the persons name you have to sync all over again can take a long time if you have alot of contacts.

Ok, had it 24 hours now and so far the only draw back I've noticed is that it requires a 32 bit OS to upgrade the firmware and they are harder to find than I thought. I even tried loading up a 32 bit version of xp in VMWare and no luck. Keeps disconnecting from device half way through.
I'll keep you guys informed, but here is what I think I am going to try and put together.

I know right? When I first started this idea, I wondered if a handset existed. When I saw that I knew I had to use it!
Seriously, I would love to finding a handset with a dialer. Sort of how the old 3 watt handsets were set up. But I am not holding my breath.
About 4 years ago I saw a BT "headset" which was about the size of a large pen, which included a keypad. Designed to be held, not used over/in the ear. Might be a better option than your first choice. Don't have time to look for it right now.
That sounds cool too. Ill try and look for it. I mean a regular headset would work ok for the concept, I was just hoping to emulate a landline while docked.

So I'm trading my Nexus S for a HTC Radar, and the first thing I want to know is for HSPL, how many people suceeded?
I mean is it hard to do it perfectly and not brick it, or is it like rooting where the chances are 70% no and 30% yes.... Also wondering if there's a video that someone made for noobs on how to do it? Cause I want to use a 7.8 rom, and I also need a XAP installer so I want to do that on like day 1 or at least in the first week I have it..

Theyr're both the same difficulty, but there are more steps to unlocking the Radar. For my Tab, I only had to turn on developer mode or whatever it was called and run a windows program.
If you want to HSPL unlock it right when you get it, you'll need some tools.. (Y Cable, USB SD card reader, female-usb to female-usb) They totaled 5 dollars for me. Not bad.
It was not hard though. IDK about the RISK but it worked for me easily. Yes, I wanted a video tutorial at first but there just wasnt one. Most videos online are for the HD2, which is a different story.
I have WP 7.8 and it's great! Glad you're switching to WP.....
P.S. why not wait for WP8?

Mostly cause being a 16 year old kid that still doesn't have a job, I can't afford phones on release date haha.. so I thought why not start out with WP7 .. plus I'm guessing apps run on C++ which is easier than Java to me so I thought maybe I could try building my own small apps after I'm done learning everything that matters :silly:
any possible way you could make a small video? or pm me very noobish details? cause I'm really getting confused haha.. yeah I only rooted my phones with either a flasher like ODIN or cmd...

Here's the thing... WP7 apps I think can't be written in C++.... That's a Windows Phone 8 feature.
You should look at low end WP8 devices, which should still run great. Maybe look at the HTC 8 S or Lumia 8xx... I'm not sure how much they are but I'd guess a 100 dollars more than the Radar or something.....
Edit: it's pretty easy once you get started... Just get the 3 things I listed above then everything should be easy.
WP7 uses something a lot like Silverlight or C#/vb.net .... Again, I only started learning a while ago then stopped because of school.
I can't seem to find y-cables in the stores nearby.. is it ok to use a USB Hub? ..

You can try making your own. I tried it but failed... Can't you order one from Amazon? they're cheap there.
Can you send me links on what I need to get altogether? .. and how many quantities I need.. from amazon
