Hello all,
While tinkering with my new Trion, i noted that no-one had apparently dumped a UK version of the ROM. So here you go:
!! [DUMPED English ROM from O2 XDA Trion (HERM100)| ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]_XDA_Trion_ENG_2.15.206.1_2007-03-23_WM5.rar]
ROM version 2.15.206.1<br>
ROM date 03/23/2007<br>
I've updated the wiki accordingly.
NB: I'm Michael - hi! Have been a member for ages, but not posted for years Used to deconstruct my original XDA / II all the time, but for over a year with my Mini-S (Wizard), i just stuck with the operator standard for over a year after getting annoyed with making the last "tinkered" unit (XDA IIs) unstable.
The bug is back though, and I've tinkered again. Hacked around and the best Hermes tweek, IMHO, is Schap's WM6: incredibly stable - obviously i've tweeked it a bit, but sheesh, things haven't half moved on since the XDA II days!
hey the link doesn't quite work if you could remove the %5d at the end it would work ta!

Hi all I have a new Imate and love it but I see so many Rom updates it is starting to spin my head. It looks like the OS From England is the best from talk….Is this so or is it hit and miss..Please guide me and then How do I change my I-mate to what ever Rom you guys say is best?
Robo,
I'm in the same boot as you except I have the MDA II with an older upgrade 1.60. I also have read that the new XDA II ROM appears to be the most stable.
I would like to hear how people respond to your thread, because I asked too many questions in the ROM Comparison thread I posted a couple of days ago, and got 0 responses.
I would like to add to your request for the best upgrade, is it best to stay within ROM Upgrade Brands. Am I correct that using an XDA II ROM upgrade on my MDA II device will create an ID issue, which if I want to sucessfully use a different brand ROM, I will have to hack around the ID issue.
Ed
Following all the speculation over the HTC MDA III, my source at o2 has stated that no new plans are sanctioned to release this version in the UK this year. They are exploring the opportuntites to integrate 3G and wifi into the new XDA III in 2005, but no new version before then. Phew. Also mentioned that a new Op system upgrade would be available later this year for XDA II, blackberry stack etc. 8)
Wow! If all you heard is true then it sound like good news for us.
As when I heard of the MDA III, I don't really quite like the design and look of the device as it is basically a slight change in the layout from the XDA II with a keypad attached to it, that's all.
Bryson, thank you for sharing the info. you had.
Did your source at o2 also mention about whether the new ROM will include some WM2003 Second Edition like landscape mode?
I am really interested in it if I can work with my Excel in landscape mode without soft reset my machine.
hi chris,
how today you put your xda 2 in landscape mode ? (waiting WM SE)
which software are you using ?
thanks a lot
cmh
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=1284
But requires a soft reset after each change :-(
no news on the landscape mode, sorry , i suspect though that it will, as enough 3rd party solutions out there not to follow the trend i guess!
Hi,
New to this site but glad I found it, what a handy resource!
I recently purchased a 2nd user O2 XDA II (about 12 months old) which is current setup in its factory default state. I have been reading allot about users upgrading their Himalya models to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and I wanted to know if the same is possible for the UK O2 XDA II's?
Also will this upgrade lock the Phone and/or reduce the functionality of the phone?
What pre-upgrade tasks do I need to perform first e.g apply updates first etc.
Thanks in advance,
Taz
Watch this site carefully to find out about the SE version - there has been a breakthrough in the last few hours in which mamaich has translated the only official SE ROM (a Chinese one) into English. Work continues...
No Himalaya has been sold with an official English WM2003SE ROM as far as we know, but it may be only time....
What is the existing ROM version of your machine? The latest O2 UK ROM version is 1.72 which you can download from http://www.my-xda.com/xda2_soft.html . It's probably worth upgrading to that if your machine is a year old and is still on its original 1.12 (?) ROM.
Upgrading ROM doesn't re-lock an unlocked phone.
Before upgrading the ROM, backup all important data - it'll be lost in the update.
upgrade
THERE ARE A COUPLE OF WIN03 UPGRADES ON SITE AT THE MO BUT STILL IN THE TESTING STAGE.
I HAVE USED BOTH BUT THEY ARE NOT, JUST THERE YET.
AT THE MOMENT I'M BACK ON 1.72 WAITING TO SEE DEVELOEMENTS.
NOT SURE YET IF ITS WORTH THE BOTHER TO GHANGE AS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO PROGS APART FROM VISUAL IS KINDA MINIMAL TO USE NON TECHIES, AND THERE IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM IN THE SENSE THAT SOME PROGS DON'T WORK ON SE THAT DO ON 1.72 AND VISA VERSA SO I'M TOLD. ALTOUGH IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY SOFTWARE LOADED THEN NOT A REAL PROBLEM.
BUT HEY WHAT A GREAT SITE, I'M LEARNING NEW STUFF DAILY, SOON I MAY BE A TECHY TOO!

Ha ha, cheers guys.
Yeah I came across the WM2003SE stuff by accident, was searching the net for some completely unrelated info and came across a link that caught my eye - would you believe it we have not one but two versions to choose from.
I am not too sure if I want to upgrade just yet, one of the reasons I bought a PDA in the first place was to start coding my own apps and as part of a large scale enterprise application I have been developing for over a year now.
If compatibility is an issue then I will hold off for now, I know Microsoft are slowly releasing WM2003SE related development stuff so I don't think it will be long before I take the plunge as I don't mind hacking my PDA's to peices.
As a credit to this site, I was searching various Pocket PC sites on the net (most are to bloated with info or just a bit too American for me) and came across XDA-Developers.com. It was because of the all of the info available on this site that I purchased my XDA II
I have already hacked it apart, I am running the latest 1.72 ROM and 1.17 Radio (is it worth ugrading to 1.18) as well as finally getting Pocket Hack Master to run the thing at 600Mhz with a 200Mhz bus (I will post the correct settings once I have verified that they are indeed the most stable ones).
Thanks again and good luck with WM2003SE!
Taz
Does Anybody know about WM6 for O2 XDA Stealth ?
Thanks.
welcome to xda-developers... on the top right hand part of your screen... there is a search function... use it..
short answer... no chance...
And the slightly longer answer (I wish all those nagging newbies would read this...): O2 took a long time getting WM5 to work right on the Atom line. When I bought mine, 4-5 months after release, it had barely gotten past the Alpha stage in ROMs! Who wants WM6, which is really nothing that shiny and new, with a ton of new bugs, incompatible software and annoyances?
WM6 on XDA Stealth?!?
And what about the post of user James Ngo from 2007-03-21 17:09 here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/o2_xda_stealth-reviews-1709.php
I can dish out unsubstantiated statements just as well as him: I have Mac OS running on my Atom right now, and it works just like the IPhone. And I dual boot with Linux Ubuntu, when I want to. See how easy it is?
I do not think there is a chance of getting WM6 on Stealth, It would be ubber cool thou
STEAlth User
i want to shift to wm6

Joanne, you're giving the misleading info here We're seeking the WM6 for "O2 ATOM" (NOT "Atom Life")
nevermind......
WM6 on XDA Atom - build it?
Perhaps we can start building it...

yup, may be we should move to dopod, they will release oficial wm6 rom to their device in july, even old model too. i'm planning now for a 838 pro. no more O2, bad after sale service.
i think we should sent the link of this forum to the customer service of o2, let them know how disapointed we are to their after sale service.

You're right! I have bought four O2 devices since the release of O2 Mini. Bad response from them. It makes me very angry.
Dopod is A LOT ****ING BETTER
yeah i probably wont ever buy an o2 product again
Nokia is even better
shame
i have had two o2s, a mini and a exec. the mini broke after one year and the o2 started squealing from the screen in three months. i sent it in and they sent my unit back with another squealing screen after 4 weeks. I sent it in again, furious, and they sent me a unit which doesn't wake up after 2-3 suspends.
I changed to a trinity and haven't looked back. the only problem is its no good at any games.
O2 doesn't have a plan of upgrading our atom/atom exec to WM6, it is up to us to port wm6 to our phone. the problem is, who knows how to do it, and is there any brave soul out there wants to try it out?
Hi All,
I bought a HTC Touch which comes with WM6, I love the size, design and wieght but that WM6 operatng system was ****, I have goe back to my trusty Atom Exec and now all works agian, it is such a relief, Voice command on WM6 did work fully, works on WM5 perfectly everytime, I also use Vito Audio notes and it didn't record the other person at the same volume as me when on the phone, Atom Exec does, it didn't show the ID of the peson who had called in the list of recorded calls, Atom does. I personally think WM6 is just way to buggy and in 2 years should be ready to use unless you just use the system as you bought it, have no need to install any aps that ask abit of the operating system.
