Nice find, I know a lot of people were looking for this one!
K. Did this last night. Not bad. Pretty. Has lots of stuff i'll probably never use (windows live). Still no picture text messaging. I am having problems reloading my old apps and games though.
There is a hack for MMS using a Apache 6700 cab. However, I could not upload the cab to this site. search around and you'll find it.
BTW, I like the Canadian htc 6800 better. I wonder if it would work on the Sprint Network.

Telus WM6 missing Internet Share App?
I've just upgraded a Telus P4000 to WM6 Telus posted on their site and it appears that the ROM is missing the internet share app. There is no icon for it as there was in WM5 and the Executable is not present in the win32 directory.
Is this a bad a ROM or perhaps the missing files can be found somewhere?
Anyone looking to upgrade their Telus P4000 from WM5 to WM6, please read the following thread:
http://www.ppcgeeks.com/please-read-before-upgrading-telus-to-wm6-t7238.html
This can really help with rom development, but we can only get it from a P4000 running WM5 right now.
doesn't look like just an os update, extended rom contents have changed...
radio and bootloaded rom upgrades too?

K. I phoned Telus claiming that a 3rd party app screwed up my phone and that i needed the info for setting up my SMS. She said that she wouldn't give me the info. Figured as much but i had to try. The info we need is in a .dll on the phone as sms_providers.dll but i cant copy or move it. Any ideas on how to view the dll or get the info off of it. Theres alot of push for this info on other forms too.
I messed up my Telus v3c trying to seem edit it so that I can add third party mms servers. I lost the Telus mms server and had to add it back in manually but I had no idea what the address of it was. So I poked around the phone with BitPim and found it:
http://mmsfeplb01.int.eng.telusmobility.com:8088/mms
Good luck.
I am using the TELUS P4000 and the WM6 upgrade worked like a charm.
No problem with voice calls, SMS, and even Direct Mail from my company Exchange server.
Thanks for a great find.

don't work with MMS hack....and Telus server
K. I really hope someone gets this workin. I had a little chat with someone with Telus bout mms. He said that he couldn't tell me much. He did say that the mms doesn't really have a ip address. He did say it had a G.W. sub i.d. 4421574. Not sure what that means or how we can use this info. Anyone know anything bout this?
so does this give sprint users any thing ?
just out of curiosity, does upgrading void the warranty?

Ok everyone, I am a REAL NEWBIE and I've read most of the posts reagrding the SX56 and Rogers AT&T (Canada) but I really need some assurances and/or specific responses to my questions. Please help out if you can...
I want to bid-on / buy an SX56 on eBay and have it shipped to Canada for use on the Rogers AT&T network.
Do I need to do anything to get it to work on the Rogers AT&T network here in Canada. I understand I can simply use my SIMM card from my existing GSM phone.
However, I was talking with a guy from Siemens Canada today, and he cautioned me about buying a unit from USA because he suggested that they are usually "locked" for use with a particular carrier (AT&T or T-mobile). As a PDA or phone he felt that it would work. But, if I want to access the web, he felt I wouldn't be able to do so in Canada UNLESS the unit is "unlocked" and re-configured for use in Canada.
Does anyone know anything about this? Or even IF it can be done?
I am fairly competent with technology and computers, so don't be afraid be specific.
MANY THANKS, in advance, for all your help.... I really want to get this unit but they're selling in Canada for $800 CDN
Blair (Guinness)
The device does have to be SIM unlocked. There are tools on this site to do so if you need to.....and elsewhere as well. If it is not SIM unlocked you will NOT be able to use your existing card. If/once it is unlocked it will work on Rogers AT&T....mine does.
If you would like to see one in action, or see the new XDAII come to our users group meeting in Toronto tomorrow evening (Thursday)

I'll see you there... are you serious about the Guinness hat? If so, I'll look for you.
Yup!
ACK! I wish I could go. I'm a good 8 hours' drive though, coming up from K'zoo, MI.
Howdy,
I've been using the SX-56 on Rogers for the past 4 months. Actually I just upgraded the radio yesterday and also threw on a cooked ROM and this is working so much better than before.
If I just knew how to make this work with the Rogers GPRS network for browsing life would be GREAT.
I have it set for
internet.com
user: wapuser1
pw: wap
no DNS
but is there something required in the dial patterns?
Anybody have any tips for GPRS on Rogers in Canada?
Thanks,
Jim
Have you SUBSCRIBED to a DATA PLAN with Rogers AT&T yet?
I understand that you need to add the DATA PLAN to your existing service for it to work.
Somewhere else in this Forum I read this... "You do not use goam, simply change that to internet.com and user name is : wapuser1 and password: wap. do not put any D.N.S. or anything. give that a try."
I forgot to ask you...
You UPGRADED the Radio? What do you mean?
Also, which "cooked rom" did you use?
I'm guessing that you need to "copy" the ROM file onto an SD Card and then load it onto your SX56??? Is that correct? What size of SD Card do you need?

Hi,
I do have a Data Plan with Rogers.
I think I need something modified in my Dial Pattern - not really sure how it should be changed.
Anyways - I went to www.yorch.net and went to the Upgrades. i was able to get a new Radio version for the GSM portion of the phone - simply download, hook up via cable and run the RSupgrade that is included in the zip - phone works 1000000% better now.
In the same site you can create your own ROM - i made one and added / removed different apps. Then i ran the ROM upgrade utility - I made it as an EXE and it simply redid my os on the PDA portion - took around 45 min to copy everything over.
I can't wait to get this working properly....
Jim

It should work with the settings you are using. How strong is your signal? If you have a weak signal it's not likely to connect.
Otherwise call Rogers and ask them to reset your acount, then wait a few minutes and give it another go.
Dave
Paragon:
Are you available to answer a couple of questions over the telephone tonight?
Did I give you my phone number at the meeting last week?
I've had my SX56 working relatively well with Rogers for a few months now too. However, I find that my signal is very weak compared to my faithful Nokia 8390. Do any of you guys have a problem with a weak signal?
I'm using ROM: 4.00.16 and Radio:6.12

I've looked around, and it seems everything focuses on HTC and Cingular. All the Tmobile roms are VERY old. Anyone have any suggestion what would work well with Tmobile service in the US?
Thanks
Tmobile has no plans to release update, there is some post, where somebody asked tmobile support about that. I think branded ROMs is not so good, as cooked roms, in branded roms is many useless programs, and settings, and this roms usually is not so fast, as cooked roms...
ROM for Vario II (T-Mobile Germany) wanted!!!
Hello,
I have a big problem: During a firmware update for my vario II (Hermes) the installation has been interupted and now, I can't start the PPC anymore (only bootloader mode).
To solve the problem, I need the original Firmware from T-Mobile
(1.21.111.3), which I have to load it from SD-Card into the PPC. In wiki I found a version, but it doesn't work (unpack failure). Where can I get an another version?
Thanks in advance!
I also wanted to know what "cooked" roms there are that are good for tmobile service... and maybe those that are geared with tzones (wap proxy) internet.
I do not know why but im having a lot of trouble getting the wap internet to work right. I have tried many different ports for the proxy area, as well as leaving some blank and so on... its just not working for some sites, on my other phone i300 with wm6 it worked perfect on every site just that it had gprs only no edge.
no i get stupid errors in IE like "the requested page is too long" url= (the url that im trying) and then status=62(hex)
what is that? i never had that before, and my web gmail always worked on the i300, now i can maybe some times sign in but never go to inbox at all.
ROM that is on the phone vp3G 3.60.2 radio 1.50
im just wondering what i should get... for tmobile service here in AZ
Does anyone know the current bell mobility PRL? My phone seems to be stuck forever in roaming mode. I flashed DCD's bell ROM and my phone is constantly stuck in roaming mode and it shows the carrier as Sprint. Any ideas or do i need to re-program my phone?

Ahh -- sorry dude. Wish I could have helped.
If a Bell user with a working device has QPST installed on their PC, we could extract their PRL to share with everyone. (and i'd like a copy for my kitchen)
How do I extract the PRL? I haven't flashed the new rom yet and I'm a Bell Mobility user.
Cheers,
Tom
SUCCESS!!
So after hours of searching, it hit me like a ton of bricks....The PRL file has to within the stock rom
After that it was a case of looking up the current PRL
so here you go Bell users.... FLASH AWAY!!!
PS: Remember to delete the .txt extension before upgrading
I am a Bell user, and I flashed yesterday, but I don't think I had any issues with roaming. How can you tell if it's roaming?
The EV icon is replaced by the roaming triangle, normally the phone will warn you that you are in roaming mode if you get an incoming call or if your data connection is about to commence provided you have the roam guard settings set to ON

Thank you, I don't think mine is roaming then. The phone will tell you with a verbal message (similiar to "The number is long distance. You will now....") prior to you answering it then?
Bell Mobility Users
Bell mobility users who flash the new sprint rom will need to update their radio with the above prl otherwise your phone will constantly roam
How can I help? I heard dcd is looking for a PRL to add to his 3.0 kitchen for Bell Canada. But you will have to guide me cuz I don't know how to extract the PRL. I tried ##228# but it just asks me for an unlock code...

I have a Bell Mobillity PPC6800 as well. I had updated it with the latest official ROM from UTStarcom's website. Am i at a certain risk because of this if i try to use this latest Sprint radio on it ? (and the DCD 3.01 as well ?)
Any Bell user that took the plunge yet ?

Already flashed the new radio and built my own rom using DCD's 3.0.0 kitchen. Got a crapload of ram to boot, GPS picks up really quick, and haven't had any lock ups, still testing bluetooth but has been all positives. Granted you flash correctly, there is no risk involved and this place is littered with tutorials
Good luck...

It seems there is a lot of work going on for the 6800. I'm unfortunate enough to own a 5050 and I'm having a hard time getting information. I know that it wasn't offered with bell for very long.
My main objective is to unlock the GPS receiver (why does bell disable this stuff!?) Can someone point me in the right direction?

Everywhere I look I see people talking about problems with different radio versions...copying certain IDS...and it's got me a bit concerned, I'd rather not brick anything.
Would you mind, in step form, telling us how you flashed yours with your custom dcd there?
I'd really appreciate it.
I was wondering if it is possible to have all of these combinations installed on the xv6800 for Verizon? Do any of you have all of these?
The only thing I don't have installed right now is WMWiFiRouter but there shouldn't be any reason you can't.
Great, I am thinking about getting this phone today and was hoping someone had all of them installed. Do you think you can install WMwifirouter and let me know if they all work?
I have it working on my xv 6800 with mo problems.

The only item in that list that is a program (which can be installed/unitstalled) is WMWifiRouter..
Have it on mine and good
Yep, it works great, just remember there is a little quark with wmwifirouter in that it is seen as an ad-hoc type of network. It will still dole out IP addresses via DHCP and work with many laptops at the same time like an access point, but for some reason it shows up as ad-hoc to other machines, but it rocks like an access point.
P.S. A note of importance about the Verizon unit: be very careful about changing the ROM on this one as of now there is NO stock ROM/radio flash to restore back to if somthing goes wrong or you do not like what you get or the phone breaks. I am however looking at getting it and will post if I do, but the Sprint unit does have software due to a bad upgrade they released and had to release the old so customers could roll back. VZW will have available when they do an upgrade but not today.
Thanks for everyones help in answering my questions, guess Im off to the store to buy it.

Or at PPCGeeks.
The only issue I've had since upgrading to 6.1 (with WMWifiRouter) is that setting a WEP key seems to break the connection. Could be a WMWifiRouter bug...
Hi, I have my Htc6800 (formely on alltel) and I got everything (voice, internet, mms, gps)working on MetroPcs. Now I got my friend Verizon XV6800 phone to flash to MetroPcs. I programmed everything exactly same as my 6800 but with his settings and number. I can not get any voice service. It has no Signal, I get this weird icon next to the signal tree. See Picture http://img81.imageshack.us/i/noservice.png/ . I have Rom MetroPCs2.1, radio 3.42.50 on both phones, and PRL list 00068. Both running Ryan mogul Version 2.1 Light (WM 6.5) *Default Titanium. I tired to flash back original Verizon rom and I can do it but get same problem. I may add that both phones have cloned ESN's but only one works. His phone has his esn and mine has mine. Same roms, radio and bootloader on both devices. Please tell me what to do to fix this "No Service". Thanks
Sounds like you need a carrier cab. There was a thread that contained all that info already as well. Here is the site
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501754
It also contains the cabs to get the MMS/Internet running as well
anytime you flash a rom non specific to your carrier you will need these files to bring up service. I hope it helps you out some.

Carefully read through all of the relevant threads Ryan Mogul has posted.
Many metro people have had issues and he seams to walk even the un-helpable through untill you fix the problem.
Also take advantage of the xda google tool (top brown ribbon tab named Search). You will find everything there.
Hi, thanks for replies. I have used prl from within rom i used that was made by ryam mogul and everything works on one phone but not second. I flashed back original verizon rom and I had same problem with NO SERVICE. Is maybe hardware different between these two phones. One was alltel and other (non working) is verizon. Is there anything is cdma workshop that I have not done or did do that was wrong. I super cid it per instructions and changed esn. It there option to disable voice service anywhere ? I can get wifi but no gps and voice and I get that weird icon. http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/3048/noservice.png
Update. I got signal when I flashed back to original Verizon Rom with original stock radio in it. It gets and works in EVDO mode. I will try to convert to MetroPcs Roma and see what happens.
