Hi to all the Gurus in here,
I have upgrade my 838 PRO from WM5 to WM6.
i am using the official S.E.A ROM.
when i am using WM5 i used SPB Back up v1.6 to backup all my contacts, calendar and task, sms.
right now i want to "recover" all my contacts and task back but my phone doesnt allow me to do that. It only allows me to retrieve my sms and calendar but nothing else.
i try to downgrade back to the official WM5 ROM but again the PPC doesnt allow me to do that AGAIN.
therefore can the gurus in here, please teach me to downgrade back to WM5 so that i can get back all my contacts and tasks.

After upgrading to the iMate 1.72 on my O2XDAII, I lost the ability to send SMS. I confess I did a mix and match with extended ROM stuff, so that's probably the source of my error, I guess. I can make/receive calls, and MMS and GPRS are also fine. I can also receive SMS, just not send them.
When clicking send, I get the message "The phone is not ready. Please Try again in 15 seconds." Thinking perhaps the SMS service centre was not configured correctly, I went into Phone/Options, but get the same "The phone is not ready…" message before the options display.
I've downloaded other SMS software, and can send from them fine, using the service centre off the SIM.
Any suggestions?
Is this from a clean start or have you restored a previous backup after burning rom?
It was a clean start, but from a cooked ROM. (Mixture of 1.72 iMate and 1.60 O2). To be honest, I've given up now, and just flashed the 1.72 ROM, and everything is OK. I guess I can live without my 02 customisation.
I've installed clean i-mate 1.72 ROM (simply modified operator), but it didn't help. Any suggestions?
Well, the answer was really simple - don't mix old customized extended Roms with i-mate 1.72 ROM. After installing clean i-mate ROM with its own extended ROM I could not send only first sms, then all went all right.

If you want customization from old O2, take out O2 specific CAB files using ExtROM Editor 2003 from old O2 ExtROM and put them to 1.72 ROM. Then flash it to device...
Or use itsme's ExtROM unlocker to put old o2 customizations to currently flashed ExtROM those old o2 specific CAB files to that ExtROM, edit config.txt in device and then make hard-reset...

don't worry i've done it, i went back to wm2003se then back to wm 2003.
i have so many bootloaders that i don't know what to do with thwem all.
1) why did you plan to revert back to original..??
2) why to 2003 SE & then to 2003....

Hi I have Prophet (Imate Jamin) CID Unlocked. I recently updated to WM6 using PDAVIET RoM v 4.0.0.0.4 (First updated to NVID version of WM5 AKU2.2t).
I have a peculiar problem,
a) I am not able to recieve any SMS's.
b) I am not able to send any SMS's thru the messenger system, however I can send SMS's thru alternate program (O2 SMS Plus)
Since I am able to send SMS's using the O2 SMS Plus Program, I don't think it should be a Radio Rom problem.
Any help would be appreciated!!!.

Ii seems the problem was some kind of conflict because of the multiple mssging softwares.... O2SMS Plus & Pocket outlook.
The problem went away once I removed O2 SMS plus... learnt the hard (long) way had upgraded & downgraded 4-5 times b'fore I finally understood what the problem was...

can sens and recieve SMS from CANADA but not from PERU
i have a X02HT Smarphone WIndows mobile 6 , softbank carrier
i was able to receive and send SMS from CANADA but i tried to PERU(51) but couldnt get it and even send
any ideas?
I'm using Atom with Kumara ROM.
I have the same problem.
I try to modify the registry, but it's only a temporary solve. Sometime the problem appear again.
After I read this thread, I remove O2SMS Plus, and the problem solved.

I have a G4 which I think is CID locked.

I have managed to get a number of different WM6 ROMs in
and 'sort-of' working. The reason for the upgrade is to get A2DP
working with my nice Motorola S9's. All of the WM6 ROMs give
me A2DP, however 'Contacts' does not work on any of them.
The Contacts screen flashes up for a moment then closes.
I have tried Titan V2.0, TNT 4.0 and SeeNoEvil ROMs
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It is known that restoring WM5 contact database to WM6 device does not work. You should use a backup program that does not backup the contacts database directly, or to backup with ActiveSync+Outlook.

I am not trying to restore my contact list, I am trying to launch
'contacts'.
I have gone to \Windows and 'tapped' on addrbook.exe and
that does the same thing. The 'contacts' screen pops up for
a moment, then shuts down again, as though looking for a
.dll that isn't there. 'Calander' and 'tasks' work fine so I am
sure 'poutlook.exe' is working, it's just 'contacts' that doesn't
work.
Does any "super-softie" know what files addrbook.exe needs to
open/touch in order to run?

I had the same problem as yours.
I am also using a 2.21.0001 G4 CID locked.
Also the Windows Live Messager only flashed but not really running. The way to solve this is very simple.
Just do a hard reset. After that you will be able to use both msn and contacts.

I installed different WM6 versions on the weekend. I also tried the new way out (HardSPL). It was a little adventure to install it – but finally I did it and I was able to install all new ROMs.
But I’ve got a new problem. I am loosing all SMS after a softreset (sent and received messages). My call history or my e-mails are still there. I installed several ROMs, but it is always the same. There is still no different between wm5 and wm6. After a softreset, every SMS is lost.
1. Does anybody have an idea to fix that problem?
2. May the problem has an other reason than installing new roms?
3. Please Excuse my English

2. looking straight to that thread, bugs are always debugged in the same thread.
3. advise you that there are many sms backup cabs, please choose one for your convinience,
4. and you may try the maillAccountrepair.exe , to see if your messages are recoverable or not.

Please don't mind that here comes more words,
1. before soft-reset, try to close " Messaging " properly ( it may still running at the background) , just to confirm itself to save its settings.,
2. I am currently using the Shadow, 100% nothing wrong with the SMS messages,

3. if you want to "remind" the system to save its settings, just simply do a system setting
like backlight or what so ever.
4. Please try not to use the bottom pit to make reset with stylus, as it sometimes erase you recent settings.. ( use WkTASK to reboot is not a bad choice )

Its wierd that you expirence this with the original WM5 rom.. Allthough i have some similar problem.. Iam now using WM5 again, due to my PDA needs to 100% stable for the time beeing..
I got a few new sms' and then the PDA hang so i couldn't turn it out from standby.. when i soft resettet the new sms' where gone.
But you loose all your sms' right? not only newly recieved but all?

I’ve installed coffie ger again. When I now switch of the ppc by pressing the power butten, all message a still save. After switch on, every message is where they have to by.
If I made an softreset by using the stylus, I will lose all SMS that I’ve got or created after my last “shutdown”.
By the way, I executed the HardSPL. 2.G4.4PDA was written on the bootscreen. After installing the original wm5 the SPL changed to 2.15.0001. So I installed the coffie rom via softSPL. But another question is - is it so easy to change back to the original SPL?

You did that by installing the WM5 ROM. If you mean the SPL you had before you changed it with hardSPL: that one is gone, it is overwritten. But if you find an official (WM5) ROM with the same SPL version, just flash that one.
If you mean that you want the original SPL back after using SoftSPL, it is there all time. SoftSPL is a one-time-only bypass, it doesn't change anything permanently.
