Mobileplanet seems very pricey for things like wall and car chargers, batteries, etc.
Boxwave doesn't seem to carry any power supplies at all.
I'm at a bit of a loss where to go get this stuff for reasonable prices. (Either super-cheap chinese knockoff crap or reasonably priced OEM - I'm not into expensive chinese knockoff crap!)
TIA,
Richard
lionbattery.com sells for StarTrek only batteries but their 1900 mAh is probably the best you can get. It's not so cheap...
You can get some audio adapter (jack) from ebay.
I have even purchased some car holder from Expansys.com (HTC Store) but it's not so perfect (especially with the fat battery) because it was the cheapest one

Thanks. I actually like to have a handful of power adapters and car adapters, so curious where to find those at decent prices.

Is it worth buying something which is designed specifically for the Hermes or does a cheap generic one do just as good a job?
I'm willing to spend a bit extra is the holder is better quality.
If anyone has a decent holder could you let me know the brand/where you got it from.
In my experience, The Brodit holders are superior. They have excellent fit, and some come with built-in charging (active holders) for additional convenience.
yes, anything by Brodit - expensive but worth it.
I am not very much convinced with their website's photos.
I have ordered dwo desktop cradles from expansys: HTC-branded, and from ORA, plus a car holder by Carcomm. I will review and post photos when they (finally) arrive.
Another vote for Brodit. See my pics in this thread:

I can recommend a unit by Carcomm, available at Handnav.

I've been using it for 3 weeks, very pleased with. You can get power cables for various GPS receivers too.

i am using a cheap car holder from Hama. it's doing its job and i paid only 20euro for it
My vote goes to the Brodit holder. Use it for several months now and charge my tytn without problems. Also i have one for my dell axim pda.
Brodit holders are a perfect fit.
i just use a generic pda holder bought form ebay, i think the ebay store was t-dimension.
it cost me $5 AU + postage. It is an anti-vibrate model.
This holder together with a TYTN car charger ($20 AU) is a practical and cheap (money wise) solution.
There is ONLY one place to buy from and it is...
www.proclipusa.com
I have no affiliation with them but I have bought holders for 2 different vehicles from them. The quality is very high. And they have basically taken every single vehicle out there and figured out how to mount your ohone as if it were a factory option. The location of the brackets is different for all vehicles and the fit on the phone and on the car is perfect.
I hope you enjoy, just as I have.
Using the Brodit cradle here, fantastic bit of kit which works perfectly. Recently used it on a 2500KM car journey and it was perfect the whole way!
Does anybody know which holder is compatible with the extended batteries?
I got this one at radio shack for 16.00
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103140&cp
add to it a retractable miniusb cigarette charger (for the RAZR) at wal-mart for $10.00
That looks right along the lines of what I want - I don't think it would hold the LION Battery pack with the Hermes though :/
Yesterday I found this great looking Docking-Station: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/de/p_htc_item.aspx?i=179445
It would look great with the HD but it doesn't fit. Is there anyone, who found a similar station that works with the HD?
This is really the only quality one I know of:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-touch-hd-desktop-cradle_3387.htm
Not the most attractive, but like I said, quality.
I'm also looking for a cradle that looks good, the only on I have found is this one:
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=175740
However it seems pretty expensive and not to my particular tastes so I was wondering if there were any others too.
Does anyone have any recent experience of using the cheapo docking cradles available for the TouchHD on eBay? I'm based in the UK but would be happy enough to buy one from a seller over here or in Hong Kong.

All they do is connect the USB port to the computer, they are basically a USB lead with a built in stand for the phone. The ones with a second battery socket have a second power input and a charging circuit.

I've got two of those.
One with the extra battery loader.
Dirt cheap on ebay (11 and 16 euro's). Great build quality.
Have the loader on my desk and the other on my nightstand. GREAT!

I got a cheap one from eBay for my desk at work. It works fine for charging the Touch HD, but it doesn't physically support it very well. If you are clicking anywhere near the top of the screen, the phones bends away from you (if you can understand what I mean).
Thanks for all the feedback. Looks as though I may have to look for a slightly more expensive brand of cradle/dock.
Do any of the well-known brands come with the ExtUSB connector instead of the standard mini-USB connector?
Im have a CRG300 craddle, just used a dremmel to make on of the adapters fit the HD.
do you have a foto of the station with the hd in?
As title, why are they so damn expensive? Cheapest I see is £50 from korea on ebay! I was expecting them to be a couple of quid?

I cannot find a cheap cable in amazon.
So if you know a shop please tell us.

HDMI cables in general can be more expensive than you'd expect, but here's a reasonably priced adapter...

hit the thanks button
You can also try monoprice.com
to answer the initial question: why are they expensive?
because while they are often referred to as adapters, they are actually not. an adapter is something that changes the shape of plugs from one shape to another, like travel adapters for different outlets, the usb otg adapter or when you have a cinch to 3.5mm plug. but this box does way more than just convert the shape, it converts the signal. there is a chip in there that does a lot of work which is also why you need a power supply, it doesn't just charge the phone, it also powers the mhl chip.
and since it actually does something and is not just a piece of wire, it might well cost 20eur, but certainly 50 pounds is too much, i'd have to agree with you on that. still, i am waiting for a cheap german shop to offer them. way less trouble with payment and shipment.
I bought this at Amazon, plugged it in last night, set my Sprint LG G3 on it, and... nothing.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J7L6GJC
I went back to the Amazon page and read a little bit more. The first question (that I missed when I bought it) asked if it worked with an AT&T LG G3; the answer was "no, a wireless receiver is required."
I emailed the seller to return it, stating that it required an additional piece of hardware. The seller replied that it does NOT require any additional hardware.
So who is right?
AT&T model of G3 uses PMA wireless charging standard, instead of Qi and so it would never work.
In the case of Sprint G3 (and other US carrier models), I believe none of them come with battery doors that have Qi charging pins.
You have 3 options
Replace the battery door with one that has Qi charging sticker
Buy a Quick Circle case that has Qi charging sticker
Buy a wireless charging sticker, open your the battery door, affix the sticker at the right spot on the battery door and put it back
The third will be the cheapest option. Here is a video.
Thanks!
I see some cheap cases on Amazon for about $10 that include the Qi charging sticker. I see the stickers for about $5 if I go with the cheapest vendors.
Does that sound about right?
Are there any caveats? Is it better to buy from an established seller rather than a knockoff from overseas?
I personally buy knockoffs from China all the time and had very little issues. If the price difference is significant, I prefer the cheaper ones.
For example the 6000+ mah internal battery I bought for G3 cost me $12 from China. Compared that to the same capacity battery from Mugen which costs $90.

Did you need an extended battery cover for that large of a capacity?

Yes I do. The extended battery is double in thickness. Check this photo album (not mine, but same battery and cover).

Keep in mind that cover you see in the pictures, does not have Qi charging and NFC pins.
Hello!
I am looking for some cheap 2A chargers for my G2. The original costs ~15€ !
There are a ton of "claimed to be 2A chargers" on ebay and amazon, I would like to learn if you have tested any of those and they did supplied 2A.
thanks in advance for your help!
Try Belkin or Hama. I never buy off ebay so I can't point to any specific one, but those brands are cheap and decent. They're proper registered brands, (Hama is German and one of the world's largest, Belkin is from the US and also one of the larger brands) so they have to provide what it says on the package.

does it safe to order charger from ebay?
I bought charcher few year ago from net and he exploded and burned... its very dengerous..
what do you think about this charger. I got good recommend.
http://m.banggood.com/NILLKIN-EU-AC-5V-2A-USB-Charger-Adapter-For-Mobile-Phone-p-926190.html
I couldn't find any cheap hama chargers online, and the belkin ones that come with the EU plug costs the same with the original charger but those with the US plug and an adapter costs half the price, which is strange and could only mean two things, 1, they're fake, 2 belkin is making good money from european customers!
the nillkin option is good....
