change the date format in the HTC home - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Recycling this thread:
is there some way to have the date displayed on the HTC home screen in another format?
Right now it's in the short form 31/8/07 but i would like it to be in the longer format (monday, august 31st).

You should use a registry editor program, such as Resco Registry, then go to
HKLM\nls\overides\, change the value of the SSDte to dddd, MMM.dd then SR your device!

Thanks man!
I had to manually add that key, and actually set it to something slightly different ("dddd dd mmmm"), but the hint was correct.
looks like that part of the registry is related to exceptions in the standard because of regional settings.

Thanks.
A great hint. Thanks.

There is only LCID under HKLM\nls\overides. What that means?

[New Release] Shortcut Creator V2.3

I was tired of making shortcuts by manual editing, so I made this editor.
The program requires .NET Compact Framework 1 and it was tested on a HTC Magician with WM 2003SE and HTC Polaris with WM6. It has been reported to work on HTC Wizard with WM 2005. Please, feel free to post your experience with different device and operative systems.
Looks great!
I think Odeean did something similar a while back, but beautiful either way.

I tried it on my wizard - wm5 and the app would start but soon as i made any selection an error would come up. see jpg
Nice idea - would like to see working - i am fed up too of manual creation of shortcuts as i forget the syntax

Lol thanks - its now working. Will post later tonight my findings after testing.
Hi oruam57 for simple shortcuts program works fine.
More complex shortcuts e.g.
''\Program files\omapclock\omapclock.exe'' -clock 240 -launch ''\storage card\program files\TCPMP\player.exe'' -restore
your program when editing same lnk just shows ''\Program files\omapclock\omapclock.exe'' -clock 240 -launch in target path / parameters
the last section is missed out - i guess a bug?
even when i add last section manually it will not save it.
look forward to comments\update

Thanks oruam57 now works with the mentioned shortcut. How long can the parameters be? I would make it quite long to suit all circumstances if possible. When will the icon section be finished? Cheers

Good. The parameters can be as long as you like (at least in theory), the problem you found was due to a parsing bug, not to a length limit.
Redowload the current version, the icon browser is there (not fast but working).

Works a treat thanks, icon came out fine - seems fast enough to me. Any further developments planned? How about an installer to finish it off?

The caching of browsed icons (no need to reload them every time if the file is the same), some more testing, then I will pack all in a cab. Thanks for your testing.
Just uploaded an update. Should be in 'release candidate' status.
Improvements: .bak file creation, cut/copy/past extended on all text boxes, browsed icon caching.

The backup is created only if you open an existing shortcut and it is saved in the same directory of the original with name <original name>.bak.lnk
Moreover, only the original is kept, that is if you open x.lnk, modify it and save, x.lnk contains the new shortcut and x.bak.lnk the original ones. From then on x.bak.lnk is not overwritten and when you are satisfied with x.lnk you should manually delete x.bak.lnk
Hope I was clear enough, English is not my mother tongue.

I'm on the minimalist side: no feature/code if not really required. I will put something in the readme of the install pack.
By the way, I made the editor because I, as an heavy shortcut user, really miss it and I expected that many people had the same problem. From the small number of download it seems not so.
Maybe MS was right (as usual) in not including one in Windows Mobile.
O man, thank you very much for this lovely product you’ve made.
I'm in love with it.
Cheers,
Drifter

Carrier graphic in dialer?

Anyone know where the graphic in the dialer to the carrier is located so I can delete it? I know this was possible on the wizard. I want to remove the Cingular logo on the dialer as the carrier is no longer called Cingular.
Yes, go into the registry and search for entries with the name "banner". Clear the graphic files under the banner entries and there ya go.

Wonderful, thanks so much.
I had a few entries (3?) all pointing to the same gif
Soft reset and works as a charm, more screen state!

Nike/Touch Dual Font size.

Does anyone know what the reg settings are to increase the system fonts? I have searched, but the only thing I can find is tweaks2k2 and it does not work.
Thank you.
In the screen settings window, you can set the font size, but thats only the today screen and programs menu (as far as I know) but if you want to change the font size of the start menu or something like that then i cant help you.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt and

Thank you, but what number should I use to increase the size of the font? 900? 1000?
Thanks.
The short answer is yes - pick a number, see what happens. You'll need to soft reset after each change.

4 Column Icons in Programs Menu

hey!!
I just found it on another page... after a little testing I managed to see 4 columns in my programs menu...
here what I did...
In HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Add a New Key “IconConfig”
In there Add DWORD Value:
“HorizontalIconSpacing” Dec value=”56″
“VerticalIconSpacing” Dec value=”66″
“IconTitleFontSize” Dec value=”8″
and it looks awesome!!!
i'm currently runing dcd 3.2.6 if anybody wonders...
when i find my USB cable i'll upload a photo...
enjoy!!!
Did this give you 4 columns in Settings as well? that's what I'm wanting...
To take a "picture" - take a screenshot... This program is the best for screenshots in my testing:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/get-spb-screenshot.html
(SPB Screenshot)
I just performed this change myself - it's great! However, it IS only for programs as settings remain with 3 columns.
ScreenShot attached:
No go on Mogul

Uh, yeah. First thing I tried! Reg keys are in place, i.e., I didn't reset and lose them before they were actually stored in the registry, but still the same 3 columns...

I actually made up a cab for this a while ago and it's somewhere buried in these forums.
How are you trying to access the Programs list? The 4 columns feature only works by getting there from the Start menu. HTC Home program launcher as well as other program launchers do not work with this.
Here is GC's cab
Same result...

Okay, I tried the CAB file and the registry keys are added, just as I had manually entered them before, except that the values were slightly different from those specified on the first post (HorizontalIconSpacing=55, VerticalIconSpacing=70 and IconTitleFontSize=6). Well, those values didn't work either (yes, I did a SR), so I tried changing just the values (in case I'd made a spelling error in the reg keys I overlooked) to the 56, 66 and 8 given in post #1. Guess what, same result.
Oh, and yes, I'm trying to access the Programs list directly, through the Start menu, not through any other type of launcher. I do have Spb Mobile Shell installed, if that should matter.
Guess I'll just have to give up on this. Not a huge deal, but I don't understand why it won't work on my device...

Any idea how to do this for the SETTINGS menu as well?

My cab should work for Settings as well.
I am having the same problem and was suprised to see a post today that I am not the only one.
Here are the nitty gritty details:
My ROM is from HTC Version 3.35.651.2 Date 2/22/08
Radio Version 3.35.04 ( How would that matter? I often see others post it. )
Windows Mobile Pro
CE OS 5.2.1629 ( Build 18136.0.4.8 )
I did not try the CAB for the reg settings.
I did perform Soft-Resets and play with different values.
I am using PHM RegEdit V 0.70 ( http://www.phm.lu/products

Also, what is nueLED in the above screenshot of settings screen? Does it stop the green blinking LED? Is there a cab for it?

[Q] How to add

How to write under the quick link icon, the name of the shortcut. Somewhere I saw that but I unfortunately forgot where, and ask for days. Thank you in advance, and yes i use HD2 with stock rom (wwe) and CHT 1.8.5
Open CHT Editor (Menu Spft key on home tab), then choose 'Quicklink Settings', scroll down and set 'Hide text' to off.
It is switch to off i was try to switch of & on several times but nothig change text is no there i would like to be like on pic
is this what you're looking for?
28. Change QuickLink Display Names
If you don't like your Quicklinks display names being truncated and looking like for example "Resco Regi.." and would prefer it look like "Reg Edit" then you can edit the display names here: HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/Home/x then edit the DispName.
(x = the quicklink position)
*edit* never mind, read wrong. yeah you should be able to change that in CHTEditor. If it doesn't work, maybe export your settings for CHT & then reinstall it.
theres a setting for "quicklinks" and "freelinks".......
make sure they are both on........
