Hi,
I am using the stereo headset that came with my TYTN.
When the phone rings, shouldn't the button on the little box that houses the microphone, answer the call?
Shouldn't it also hang up the call when I'm done?
I really have tried to find an answer to this, in the wiki and in the forums, but if I have missed it, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Barnaby
Yep...it's supposed to...

Press on the button is supposed to answer incoming. Short press on button puts active call on "hold" and long press (very very long press) hangs up active call.
Bet yours is broken or defective. The quality of the OEM headset is atrocious.

You're not wrong there! When I answer a call on the OEM headset, I can hear the other party, but all they hear on the other end is hissing and static. It is terrible! Which is why I have been looking at a few A2DP headsets, will post a review once I get one and try it out
just to make it a little more specific, IIRC, click and hold the button for 5 seconds will end the call. just wait till you hear the beep, which should come after 5 seconds. also, pressing the button 6 times calls the most recent call in your call history. i made a different post that went unanswered about this... i would really like to know if there are any other uses.

So, is there a good quality mini usb wired headset with a microphone and button then?
I am contemplating soldering on a better pair of headphones into the microphone section, so I would like to buy a better headset (one that has a button that works ideally!), then splice in maybe a pair of sennheisers or something.
I have seen the posts about bluetooth headsets, but I hate charging stuff up and to have something else to charge is a big no-no!
Thanks for your responses so far.

I soldered some better earbuds onto mine and I consider the results to be very good and clean, but then the button on mine has awlays worked OK. Your situation is a complicated slightly by the broken button. You can find instructions on how to do the earbud modification in this forum...just search.

Hi,
I want a headset for my Wizard that meet the following requirements:
1. SUPER sound quality.
2. 2.5mm jack - I don't want an adapter.
3. Prefered Mic.
4. Prefered Volume control.
Can anybody post any useful items??
P.S. : Does anybody sell original Wizard headsets with Mic (mine is O2 Branded and I live in the UK)????
Thanks,
Mohammad
i have a nokia hs-16 headset and i'm very enjoy it hs-16 has three different cable to connect to 3,5mm, 2,5mm and 2,5mm nokia jack. i used a 2,5mm nokia cable and mic works good with my wizard it only doesn't have volume control...
ps. sound quality is very good for me
Hey, Thanks
How does the sound quality compare to the original headset? and Where from did you buy it?
Cheers
well stupid answer, but have you not just tried the o2 shop mohammed, thats where i got my last one from, about four months ago
No, I haven't. but I will give it a try and repost the result here.
Cheers
well, I searched in O2 UK shop but I found only blueooth headsets for Wizard, can you provide me a link for the ones you got?
Thanks
Mohammad
i never found mine online, i went into the o2 store, i have checked online and ,like you , have only found bluetooth headsets. I have found a link here though
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10097.htm
it isnt the original o2 one, but it is Genuine i-mate JAM Stereo Personal Handsfree Kit
Yes, I've seen it.. I even found the original O2 ones, but the link is in my other computer..
but I am now searching for a Super quality 2.5mm headsets..
The only thing I saw in the market was the miniBuds Boxwave's headsets, but I don't know if anybody tried them?? are there any other brands?
I have a T-Mobile MDA and my headphones went dead a month or two ago. I just bought a replacement from e-bay. A simple search will bring many results. I think I paid about $5.

I bought from a seller called sami809
HS-47
I've just bought a Nokia stereo headset HS-47. It has a 2.5 mm jack, so I one can use it without adapter. The microphone and the answer button both do there job, but there is no volume control. The quality of the equipment is good, but the sound quality isn't that good. For a super sound I think you have to buy a HS-16.
bought what a seller told was an ome headset. got questions: im i suppose to hear from both left and right ear buds, and im i suppose to able to end or start accept call with the button next to the volume button onthe headset. wonder if i have open circuits on the headset jack on my wizard.
If you have the right headset, then you are supposed to hear from both left and right ear buds, answer incoming calls and end conversation by pressing the button next to the volume control.
If these are not the case, it doesn't necessarily mean that something is wrong with your phone or the headset. It might be that they are not compatible. That would mean the one you got isn't an OEM piece, or maybe it's OEM, but intended for a different device.

Maybe the headset is the wrong color, no wait I know your phone hates you and is secretly plotting to drive you mad and have you committed to an insane asylem and then join with my phone in its plot to take over the world. or it could just be as simple as there is something wrong with the headset who knows about these things??
i would expect such flaming wise crack from a senior memeber ; )
I apologize for my English. Translated from Google.
Tell me how to solve small problem. The essence is as follows:
Presented with a headset on the iPhone 4, while listening to music and watching videos, sound is muffled. If you press and hold (!), The Play button on the headset the sound is normal. In another Nexus One, and he has them working properly. In what may be the problem? How to decide? Interestingly, once already tested the sound quality of these headphones, and it was not.
http://androidforums.com/sony-erics...0-headset-issue-problem-norm.html#post2675162
It's the way it is made.
iPhone is not built the same way the x10 headphone jack is
But I had included, works fine.
Maybe you didn't read what I posted.
Simple answer for the issue. Sony does things their way, while everyone else caters to the iPhone industry.
Headphones w/ mics have a male plug have 4 pins.....both Sony and iPhone, the first 2 pins are the same, but the 2nd two are different.
Pressing the answer button on the headset connects rings 3 & 4 on both headsets. (Which, in effect is the same as a listening only headset.)
Either use headphones without a mic (for music) or use a bluetooth headset (for phone) or use the Sony headset that came with the phone or visit the Sony store.

I read your message. And I can not understand why, then, to work? May be the case even in the firmware? Now is not the official 2.2.1
I heard that it happens only on headphones with mic, so I just taped the answer button on controller and they work fine You can also try some adapters from ebay or some similar pages...
I would like to purchase a headset for my S2. Two features are important to me. First one is buzzer sound when incoming call and second one is to press one button on the headset to take the call. I will normally put the headset on my neck using a string. Any good suggestions? Thanks!

Samsung hm3500, cheap, but handy.
nokia bh-218. amazing standby time.
It looks great. However in their website, the photo and the video are totally different. The photo has a long cable with an earphone while the video has no cable but has a clip and earpiece. Which one is correct? When there is an incoming call, is there any alert from the earpiece? It is very important to me as my phone always in my pocket of trousers.

use google translate to translate.
no it has noi buzzing sound or vibration. you answer it by just picking the eatpiece from it clip base. also you can pair it to up to 2 devices.
but the best thing after the great standby time is the mute switch on the mic.
if you want it with builtin buzzer or vibrator there is an company that is called itech.
it has great products too.

Hello people, I've recently bought Motorola RAZR, but today I've discovered a serious problem with it. If anyone has ever seen something like it, I would appreciate help right now, as I want to take it back to the store in the morning if I don't solve this, which is a shame, it's a very nice phone.
When I play audio on the wired headset that came with the unit, regardless in which audio player (tried 3 different), YouTube, any sound at all, it comes weak and distorted. To give you some idea, it's much like the sound that you get when you don't plug in your headset all the way, but this one is definitely in place. Here comes the weird part - when I press the button on the headset sound goes back to normal and stays that way as long as I hold the button! Tried with ZTE headset from my other phone, exactly the same thing happens. Sound is also good when I plug in the regular speakers in the jack. Sound is good on built in speakers, no issues there, just with headset.
I've already tried cleaning the audio plug from lint, no change. I've searched the whole of internet, but could not find a similar problem. Please help!

I don't think this will help seeing as the problem appears to be fixed upon pressing the headset button, but have you disabled the media audio effects under the sound settings? By default they are set to on and sound terrible.

GSM RAZR comes with a headset. Instead of an SD card, I suppose. As packed-in headsets go, there's worse out there, but that's not saying much.

I took it to the store this morning, they told me it's probably the wrong headset. They will order one today and I will pick it up after work. Let's see if that solves the issue, the sound on this phone otherwise seems very loud, I will take that as a just compensation for the grainy pentile screen.

One thing I noticed with my headset that came with is, the microphone is on the right ear piece. So I believe they are reversed.
My LG and Samsung both had the mic on the left side.
They gave me another headset, which is kind of weird, microphone is in the middle and there is no markings to show which ear bud is left or right. Press on the button doesn't stop the music, but activates voice commands instead. Headset is also somewhat quieter than the old one, but it at least works.
Hi!
I'm having some strange issues reggarding the use of headphones.
Recently I bough a pair of Razer Hammerhead pro v2 headphones from a retailer. They are brand new, and work just fine in other cellphones (Motorola or LG) and even my computer.
But, as it turns out, they do not work properly on my phone.
Let me elaborarte: I already have a pair of Philips headphones with a dedicated play/stop music button and microphone, and they work just fine with the cellphone. But, whenever I plug my new headphones on the phone, the "headphones with mic" icon shows once on my notification screen and then just banishes, leaving me with an icon that looks like a pair of "regular headphones", not recognizing the mic. or buttons.
I've read some people online experiencing the same issue as me. And, even though you can ACTUALLY hear a conversation or music with the headphones, the mic. and buttons just don't work. Is almost as if they were non existent to the phone.
I've already tried different apps that allow you to mock you cellphone to bypass this issue, but they don't work.
Any suggestions?

Yeaj, I tried that already but it doesnt work. And it wont work because I think that this is a MIUI related problem.
Any suggestions?
My mic works if I keep the handsfree jack at a certain position or keep pressing it. May be it's a hardware problem or handsfree problem. Who knows!!!

My issue is SOLVED.
Turns out there was dust settled down in the jack.
SOLUTION: Take an ear bud, dip it in petrol and clean the headphone jack with it.
Thanks for your thread as it helped me in getting to the root cause of the problem :good:

I've already tried that one, and had no ressult. I cleaned it as soon as I got the problem, but it keeps happening
So for me, the problem is still ongoing
As I stated before, I can hear my headphones, but both mic. And buttons don't work.
Try using a different recording app and or music player, see if that helps.
