I just logged into my MSN with my tytn.
Now it automatically imported all my email contacts into my phones contact list.
The problem is I have 2 identical names of everyone I know that have a
phone number and email address. I sync'ed my phone and then the email
addresses disappeared until I log into MSN again and then I get duplicate names again. Is there a way to combine the two seperate identical names into one contact name folder? I cannot be the only one with this problem.
Thanks anyone for some help.

Hi everyone..
I was wondering how much data sync's with outlook on the hero? the most important ones for me is contacts (picture + as much data as possible), calendar and mail.. Is this possible? i'm waiting for my hero therefor i don't know the answer
Hope anyone can help..
Multiple phone numbers home/work/other
Multiple email addresses
Multiple postal addresses
Automatically puts any hotmail addresses in a separate 'Information' section on the contact page
Contact photo
Birthday and anniversary
Organisation / job title
Any of the main items are clickable and perform the actions of calling/texting/emailing and searching for address on google maps.
I am new to Android and coming from a Blackberry. How can I sync the emails in outlook with my new phone? I don't have an exchange server and I would prefer to do it with the mail app that came with the phone. I would like the emails to delete from outlook when I delete them on the phone and show as read when I read them on the phone and vice versa. I would prefer not to have the emails and information sent into the "cloud" also if that is possible, but if it is the only way so be it.
I know that I can have the two different email addresses sent to my phone through the included mail app by setting them up separately, but would the emails show as read, deleted, etc in outlook if I did that?
If it makes a difference I have two email addresses that feed into outlook. One of them is pop and one is imap. The phone is an HTC Amaze.
Could I just convert my pop email to imap and set up the two email addresses separately on my phone? Wouldn't that make it so when I delete email from outlook or the phone, it will be deleted on the other?
The problem with this is my isp does not offer imap so I will have to use google email to sync with it and make it imap.
If I do this I will have to add the gmail account to outlook and my phone, but wouldn't I have to delete the pop account from outlook and the phone in order to avoid duplicate emails showing up? I think this might happen because right now if I check the pop account without using outlook the emails show up that were received after I last opened outlook. The issue with deleting the pop account from outlook and phone is I still want to be able to send emails from that address.
Frustration is growing by a second as I researched my issue only finding similar questions raised without much answers...
I'm hoping someone here would be able to help me out on this.
I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero to a Galaxy Nexus. I want to transfer all my contacts from my old HTC to the new phone. I used Google Sync.
I never had the habit of syncing contacts to the PC; hence my GMail contact list was pretty much empty to begin with.
On the HTC, i exported all the contacts into the SD card as VCF file and went to GMail and imported that file into my GMail.
Then, it seems like it only grabbed a portion of the contacts into Gmail but at the same time, deleting most of my phone contacts in my HTC! The contact list on the phone only has facebook contacts and their emails, the phone numbers (not all of them for some very odd reasons) are gone.
In the call history, the caller of past calls had became "Unknown caller" rather than their names.
In the SMS history, the author of the messages had became the phone numbers rather than their names.
I guess I could get some of the phones back by manually figuring out which number belongs to who depending on the content of the texts but it does seem like the numbers lost the linkages to the names after syncing.
Is it possible at all to get my contact list back?
Another thing I tried doing was to use the original HTC Sync. It seems like it did its syncing but where do these contacts go on the PC? I checked Outlook and clicked contacts only to find about 20 contacts in there; my phone list definitely had way more than that.
What is going on...someone please spark me some new years hope...
Hi,
I added the Exchange Server of my company to my SGS3, and calendar and contacts sync perfectly. If I search for a person in the contact list, it even shows exchange contacts as well, and I can call them directly without having them in my personal contact list.
Here is the problem:
If one of my coleeges calls me, I only see the phone number, not his name. All the info such as name, phone number, email ect. are available on the server. I'm only able to see the name of the dialer if I search for the person on the exchange server and chose to Add Contact to the phone. But I don't want to do that one by one, to have all 500+ ppl from my company saved in my contacts list.
Any suggestions?

Bro,
All along when a call comes the phone searches for the entry in the phonebook only and not on the exchange contact list. the same is true for iphone and any other phone.

I was just thinking, that my exchange contacts are already synced onto my phone, so the info is available on the phone. It doesnt have to make a server lookup or anything.
It shows the names of Facebook contacts, who are synced to the phone in the same way, so why not Exchange contacts?
Hello,
I'm having a small problem with my LG L9 II - Stock Kit Kat Rom V20D, rooted.
I keep all my contacts on the google server, not on my phone, for better backup.
Recently, I realised that I had multiple contacts, same name, different number. So I decided to join the contacts under a single one. For example, I had John Home number with his home number on one contact, and John Work with his work number on another. I joined the two under John, so that one contact has two telephone numbers (and maybe a facebook account) linked.
And I did this for all my phonebook.
The problem is that after resetting the phone and syncing the contacts from the google server, it didn't remember my joined contacts. I again have two phonebook entries for John, instead of one John with multiple numbers.
Oddly, deleted contacts and new entries were synced. So the problem is somewhere in the joined contacts area.
Is there a fix for this? I hate having to manually join the contacts again and again after every reset/phone switch/etc.
Thanks!
