Hi All,
I need some decent add-ins for outlook mobile. The limitations of this program baffle me! Does anyone know where I could get some decent add-ins that would allow me to flag messages etc. or is there a different email manager you recommend?
Ta
Which OS are you using? WM5 or WM6? In WM6, Pocket Outlook does a lot more...
WM6 . . . but it doesnt seem to have` much added functionality?
I've been looking for how to flag my outlook emails and it says it's now supported in WM6 and I've even found sites with screenshots showing a 'Follow-up' option that when you select a email appears in the menu.
However I don't see it in my menu and the best reason I can come up with is that it requires the Exchange Server be running the 2007 version and I think my office is still running 2003.
Can anyone confirm, Exchange 2007 is a requirement to be able to see the Follow-up > Flag options appear in our menu?

Hi. Yes.. I'm using Exchange 2007 and you can flag messages in your inbox for follow up (but you can't set any reminders - only flag the message).
You can also view your e-mail in HTML format.
Andy
Since I upgraded to WM6 I am not using it anymore but FLEXMAIL 2007 might be able to help you out? Link: http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=mail&dir=wm
Ditto that for FlexMail 2007 - works great for me

Looks like WM 6.1 has added a new "feature" since WM 6.
WM 6.1 must have a database of mail servers and their mail server settings (although incomplete). When configuring a new email account which WM 6.1 has settings for (I used gmail), right after entering the email address and password, it says...
"Auto Setup found settings for:
<account name>
To complete setup and download e-mail, click Next."
Next is your only option, and it skips past the screen where you'd normally choose the account type (IMAP4 or POP3). I haven't found a way to change that value after the account's been created.
This is a problem if you use gmail, since they offer both POP3 and IMAP4 servers, but WM 6.1 defaults to POP3 only.
Anyone can test this, you can "make up" a email address/password.
Lame huh? Anyone know of a workaround or will this need to be "cooked" out?
thats in 6.0 too, i set up my gmail account that way the day i got my phone back in june, lol
in 6.0 theres a checkbox when you put your address in, if you uncheck the box it wont try to automatically get settings

Correctomundo.... that feature only works for a very few select email providers.
Are you guys using WM 6.1?
I'm aware of the check box you're talking about, but in no2chem's WM 6.1 rom the box doesn't show until the 2nd account config screen (and doesn't show at all if you start with a [email protected] address).
It's trying to be too damn smart.
Looks like no2chem is on the case!
From his realase notes for nueROM 2.0 build 5024:
Known issues:
GMAIL users are forced to use POP3 Email due to auto-detection
I haven't seen it mentioned if the issue is caused by WM 6.1 or something else in his nueROM 2.0. I hope I guessed right by not posting this in his nueROM 2.0 thread...
Nice to know I'm not hallucinating.
EDIT: apparently this issue's present in all WM 6.1 roms.

that sucks, guess ill have to hold off on 6.1 until it gets sorted
but why would they put it after you enter the address? it doesnt make sense to have to option to not use auto config after it autoconfigs, lol, is this an issue in the itself or in the 6.1 version of pocket outlook? hopefully its a result of the rom cooking, but i wouldnt put it past MS to do something dumb like that either, lol
just for clarity heres where it is in 6.0, before you even enter the email address

Yep, that's 6.0.
In 6.1 the first account config page asks for your email address and password only. If it doesn't recognize your email domain the next page will give you the option to have it "automatically" grab the settings, just like with 6.0. You get screwed if it recognizes your email's domain (so far only gmail.com that I've found), and you don't get the option to configure the server type yourself. Pretty dumb idea by MS, at least for us.
In the thread I linked to in my edit above, no2chem mentions the auto settings should be editable, but that's beyond me at this point. That thread also mentions that this WM 6.1 build is based on a beta from MS, so maybe a release version will make things better.
I just noticed gmail.com doesn't say their problem still exists with HTML emails + IMAP + WM. Are they working now?

yeah, in the 3.16 rom from sprint IMAP is working fine
now if gmail would just start using push-imap...
EDIT: i was just looking at my email settings and once an account is created you can still change email address and servers, just not the type of account (pop3, imap, exchange, etc) so if you put anything in the email so it wont automatically set it up you shoudl be able to change it to gmail afterward
in the account picker go to menu, then options, then select your account and you can go through an edit all the settings (in 6.0 anyway)

Sure, rub it in. That works in 6.1 too. You make the third person that was able to figure that out before I did . Thanks for the help!
Hey Everyone -
I hate the sprint stock ROM but it is the only one that will work with Exchange 2007.
Is there any cool cooked ROM/Build that works with Exchange 2007?
Thank you
DCD 3.2.6 syncs with my exchange 2007
All of DCD's
I have used all of DCD's roms and Scott Rosler Reloaded roms with exchange 07 no issues with any of them...
owa works fine for me
I am an Exchange Administrator and I have never had a problem with new WinMo builds syncing with my Exchange 2k7 clusters. Going forward, I anticipate WinMo to drop support for Exchange 2k3 syncing. It's just not as neat, tidy, secure, fast, etc as Exchange 2k7. But that thought is very far fetched, just my thoughts.
Anyway, I have run every Titan ROM put out through XDA and never had an issue with Exchange 2k7. Of course, I use nothing by secure activesync and have full "Autodiscovery" setup with the proper exchange certificates on all the domains, matching the domain names properly, etc. So that could be part of everyone's issue with with Autodiscovery not working or the certificates not matching the domains they were issued for, etc.

I can second everything djbeames said.
Precisely accurate. I too administer 2k7, and agree that the autodiscovery component is key.

Two questions:
1. Do you have the setting "Allow Non-provisionable" devices checked?
2. Do you have the "remote wipe" capability enabled?
It works when they allow non-provisionable devices. Our Exchange admin tested it with me. But when he unchecks then it stops working.
Something to do with the newer ROMs not setup to allow provisioning.
And I have tried full automatic, manual and any other way you think of to test.
Thanks guys!

I don't think it has anything to do with that. What "non-provisionable devices" refers to is: A device is considered "non-provisionable" if it cannot apply ALL security policies set by Exchange 2k7. In Exchange 2k7 SP1 Enterprise, there are a TON of settings that are NOT supported by WM 6.1, or even 6.5 (at this time). So if you are wanting to use Exchange 2k7 with ANY device at this time and provision over half the settings, you will HAVE to enable non-provisionable devices.
Here is a link to a matrix of what versions of WM support what:
http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2007/12/04/exchange-activesync-policies-summary.aspx
And a technet article directly referring to what "is compatible" and what "isn't":
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232162.aspx
Now. To answer your questions:
1) Yes, I have non-provisionable enabled. You have to.
2) Remote wipe is enabled on all devices. It's an integral part of Exchange 2007. I, on my personal OWN activesync profile, do not require a password. This makes it much easier for me to unlock my phone.. however, I can still do a Remote Wipe. Everyone can.
So to sum it up, you, or your exchange admin (I forgot who you said it was), have created an ActiveSync Profile with some of the settings enabled that current windows mobile (including latest 6.5 builds) do not support yet. You will have to uncheck those options, OR, simply allow non-provisionable devices. ActiveSync will still apply the policies it can, but will just skip the ones it can't apply.
Understand?

Yes I completely understand now. It makes complete sense. I talked to our Exchange Admin via email and he said it was corporate policy to not allow non-provisionable devices. We are a 80,000 employee company and according to him, I was the only one having the problem. So they wont change the policy just for me.
But it still makes no sense as to why my stock Sprint ROM works fine with exchange 2007. And the cooked ROMs dont. I think it has to be some sort of a registry fix on the Windows Mobile side that allows it to become provisionable. So even though Exchange 2007 has tighter security settings, it does work fine with the sprint stock WIM 6.1 ROM.
Hey Fellows,
SendReceiveAll is just a small program that i created for my own use. In default Windows Mobile client, if you have multiple email accounts and they are set to manual download, like it is with me, While checking mail you need to go to each account and click send and receive. This is a bit tedious.
SO this program, which is a small, no-gui, .net cf app does so. It calls send and receive for all outlook email accounts. This way you can tap it once and then wait for your emails to finish loading at their own pace.
Its a very simple start and i haven't done anything profound with it. Its just an idea that clicked me.
Suggestions and Ideas are welcome from all of you
Thanks!
UPDATE : Here is the link to cab file for this utility. I haven't tested it so cant say about how reliable it is. Thanks to post&telecommunications to make and post it
SendRecieveAll v.1 Cab File
PS: It seems that this doesn't works if you have multiple IMAP accounts. The problem I think happens because IMAP accounts cannot be updated in "Background, Asynchronously". So If thats the case with you, I am sorry, I don't have any solutions right now. I will see if anything can be done about it
Thanks. Works like a charm
Glad to know that you found it useful
Yeah, I've found it a bit tricky to check all my accounts.
For further development, is it possible that you can implement a progressbar that shows, when an account is ready and maybe a dialog that shows how many emails are downloaded per account?
Yeah, I was also having these things in my mind right at the time of developing this version and i am working on these. Actually the method i use to call the sync facility of messaging application is not synchronous , ie. my app doesnt get to know when did the messaging app finished. It gets control back immediately. So i'll have to find a better way to do that. Thanks for the suggestion
Manilla sync data
Thanks for the progy! It would be nice to have this integrate with the Manila "Sync Data" button under settings, Currently this only works for syncing Activesync, but the description does say "and Internet data"
Is any software for Send only?
Is any application for Pocket Outlook, when I want only Send (not Send and Receive)?
Nice application - some suggestions
Great little application! I’ve been wanting something like this for ages – I didn’t want to set my mail accounts to send and receive every 10 or 30 minutes, I wanted them to sync when I picked up the phone and pressed a button – now I can do it without going to my gmail, yahoo, hotmail and Exchange Server pages separately!
As others have pointed out – having something that said mail account 1 of 4 synchronising would be good for progress – at the moment I don’t know whether I’ve got no emails or it hasn’t worked correctly.
If you are going to end up adding options to this, then auto disconnecting the data connection when all mail boxes are synchronised would save me another button press!
Making it work directly from send/receive in Manila is a great suggestion from ‘anothersmith’ – in the mean time I can’t get it to assign to the programs tab in Manila or via Hbutton – it doesn’t pick it up…..?
Good work.
Splelling errror!!
The reason I'm struggling to get the Hbutton to assign via the registry is that the .exe file is spelt incorrectly!
You've got it as SendRecieveAll.exe
Hbutton thread that shows registy values if anyone wants it for now http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306794&page=2
Usefull application...thanks lot..
By the way ...i got problem coz im use diferent network (3g ,home and wifi)..i should sett the smtp manually before clickthis
great effort
Hi Friends,
Sorry for delay in response i was out of town Thanks for all the great responses. So i guess these are the changes i should try to implement :
1. Visual Notification of the progress and optional data disconnection at the end.
2. Integration with Manilla Sync.
3. Option to send only.
@brandall: If you add a sound to "New Email" notification in Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications applet, you will recieve a standard notification from the messaging app about the newly recieved emails automatically. I get it on my phone.
@all: Since i only have a HTC Gene at my disposal, i cannot experiment with TouchFlo 3D features. I guess you people are talking about the sync button on tf3d, right? So can anybody tell me the integration procedure for touchflo 3d, i mean the registry keys and all.
I have 3 IMAP accounts, but it only sends/receive the last one
By the way, your app is a great idea!
I have exactly the same. 6 IMAP and it sends / receives only the last one.
Idea is great. Please correct the problem.
Oh, i didn't test it on imap, and i just returned from a long tour. I will look into it asap.
I think that the solution is to make the application aware of the synchronization status on outlook, which apparently can't send and receive from different IMAP accounts at the same time..
But it's only a personal hypothesis since I don't have the foggiest idea of how to program.
it will be greate to make gui with send/recive all... sen all ... recive alll
Hi Great app
one question, can run background? or hiden whith screen off?
i use another app to trigger the send/recieve mail by sms.
thanks
Hey Krazy - any update on this?
The original version I have still gets used every day for me!
great work however I removed .net due to memory restrictions on my xv6700 is there anyway to get the source so we can try to get this recompiled in c that way all devices could use your wonderful program. thank u again for listening
thank you for this wonderful piece of work.
Does anyone know of any Windows compatible software that allows for Exchange 2003 email to be pushed to an Android Device?
I used to use SEVEN networks' Desktop Connector to achieve this. However, the beta ended. So I am trying to find anything [free or paid] that allows me to access my work email from my personal phone without the Exchange Administrator knowing/intervening.
Note: My company doesnt allow for OWA or ActiveSync. So these two are not options.
I'm using rom as in my signature.
gmail & hotmail accounts setup as pop3 have suddenly stopped working, I get error message like below .
messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device
make sure settings & connection correct & try again
Settings are all correct & we got same fault on more than one HD2 and same via wifi or 3G .
Assuming certificate issue or protocol change the WM6.5.5 inbuilt mail app can't handle .
Had a cert expired warning message for some time but could click accept to carry on ignoring cert issue !
What email situation others having on WM6.5.5 roms ?
Will look into certs & updating but any info from others would be good ...
Well after some research & testing it is ssl protocol change.
mail works fine on a no ssl test setup, after some searching & replies in other threads issue is crypt.dll in wm6.5 only supporting sha1 and now sha2 in use .
newer crypt sha2 is available but looks to need implementation during rom building rather than easily copying/patching it in a device running rom. :-/
Unable add crypt files to roms that protected, unprotected roms would probably work with simple copying of crypt files to running rom but as most are protected (inc NRG) then it will not work.
Also unable dump from protected nbh so will need start from scratch.
If NRG had supplied a kitchen sometime after he retired from WM development it would of been a 15minute job to add the newer crypt package ...
2 easy email solutions is third party apps, profimail & nPOPuk, both work but built in outlook was/is a neat mail client.
amazingly the nPOPuk open ssl works as had better protocol standard .
apps added below if needed (all freeware). npop not nicest to use but is light & runs sd card with no installer .
Other solution is using rebuilt roms with crypt.dll already fixed. Poyensa has done this & some can be found in WM6.5 Rom area .
Try Re-routing Emails Through Local Email Service
Firstly, thank you for continuing to provide support for the magnificent HD2 - I'm on my 5th and will continue until it proves impossible - I'm currently using the Australian Telstra model T9193 but have also had a U.S. T-Mobile model and the original T8585 model.
Secondly, I had the same problem with emails for the last 12-24 months as GMail, Microsoft, Yahoo and others progressively increased their POP3 email security to TLS exclusively, however there are still many email services that continue to use SSL only, for example, iiNet and Telstra, both in Australia. All I do is make use of the free option provided by all the major email services, to forward all my emails onto another email service, from where they can come directly to my HD2 and via which I can still send out emails. For example, I configured my POP3 Microsoft Outlook email account (and others) to forward all arriving emails onto my POP3 iiNet email account, which in turn forwards all emails that arrive there onto my HD2 WM6.5 Pocket Email manager App. It all works seamlessly, just as it always did when all the services arrived separately.
The only confusion that may arise is if your correspondents realise that you give one email address which they can use to contact you but all your responses come from another email address. Frankly, no one I communicate with is savvy enough to even notice.
Cheers, and thanks again.
^ That is a good point .
I do the same for my mums phone as she has a tiscali email with ability use old ssl or none.
Problem is I have no services offering suitable email or see any available. another option could be via web hosting if you got one and have some email setting control .
Is a pain, shame the dll not easily overwritten in device rom as easy tidy fix for everyone .
Thank you for researching this. I had to pull my Tilt2 out of retirement when my M8 tanked on a WM10 build. Was able to revive it, but now that I've got the Tilt out, I plan to at least catch it up on things...

Dude, this crypt dll is a part of XIP - that means - no way to copy anything to ready rom. Besides - yesterday I just for fun cooked 29366 rom for Leo TMOUS - even with new crypt dll in xip outlook sync does not work. So - just forget it. Gmail seems to work.
