I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY POWER .
WHY WITH WINDOWS MOBILE 2005 ,WITH BLUETOOTH ON , AFTER SIX HOURS STAND BY THE BATTERY POWER REMAINING 100%, BUT WITH WINDOWS 2006 (Advantage_HTC_WWE_2.21.405.2_1.50.00.00_Ship),
AFTER SIX HOURS STAND BY WITH BLUETOOTH ON THE BATTERY POWER REMAINING 60% why ?
please help me

Radio version 1.5 does increase the power drain, it's not just you this is happening to. After 6 hours standy, I'm down to 40%, using the PK 2.0 cooked ROM.
By the way, the caps lock key is near the bottom left of your keyboard.

do you use effComm today plugin?
happend to me as well. after removing from the today screen the effComm plugin, the battery now is ~70-80% after 12h of work (BT on and using the phone a lot).

Have you tried the battery fix cab from the 2.0 thread? I now can go 12 to 14 hours using bt, a little wifi, phone calls, etc before I get a low battery warning at 25%! Before that,it was more like 4 to 5 hours until dead.......
You may want to give it a try.
Hope this helped.........Later

Hows ur BATTERY LIFE in YOUR present WM6 ROM?

Please POST your battery life in each ROM you installed? lets monitor in each pagepool and each AKU. *Note-i hope in each ROM, you install the same program that you have*
WM6 6mbpagepool AKU 0.7= my batt life is only 1 day
WM6 BETAversion AKU0.7= my batt life is 2 days
WM5 AKU3.3.3 = my batt life is 1-2 days
normal calls a day 20 calls 2min/percall
Telstra JAJAM LIfe
Hi. JASJAM Telstra Australia was:
WM5 - Radio 1.38.00.10 -- Battery generally flat by end of work day about 4hrs calls per day & activesync to Exchange server every 1/2 hour
WM6 Black satin, Radio 1,51.00.10 - Battery flat by/before lunchtime.. Cant get to end of day , even if charging when in the car with usb charger /lead.
I think I need to fix my proper imate car charger (lead broke) as it appears to charge faster when some of the extra pins in the miniusb connector are shorted to (ground?) & this is not done when using generic USB charger & a lead.
I dont know whether its a "feature" of WM6, but when the device syncs now, I see an extra 3G or H icon appear (tiny) next to signal strength indicator & it stays there unless you press & hold "hang up" If data acess remains on, that would make the battery life suck obviously... I wonder if it can be made to cut off after x minutes? I realise this is unrelated, but I have also been experienceing a failure of the windows "Start" icon & key on today screen after using the phone a couple of times & making notes in a call.
I will downgrade to Radio 1.50.00.00 I think & try it. But there were some posts about only versions ending in .10 working in some places ??
8Meg Pool WM5 AKU 3.3F - 4-5% lost overnight (8hours)
4Meg Pool WM6 AKU 6.0 - 25% lost overnight (8hours)
The only software I install is PA for both device. I going to revert back to WM5 as I had monitor WM6 AKU 6.0 for 2 days and I had been getting 25% lost each night.
well now using 4mb page pool... also having 25% lost overnight.... only install HTC home n iLauncher....
good that ur posting here the important thing like this. pls guys, keep on posting..
maybe i will go back also to the beta version of WM6 which give me 2 days on my batt.

i just want to know where can i buy online , a cheaper but higher capacity batt.
which one ur using @ultimate? mAH?
I'm using a local brand Worcell, 1530Mah, Japan Cells. Tested to perform slightly better than the O2 supplied Taiwan battery of the same rating by me (difference of 1% drain overnight). I switched it because the battery randomly looses its charge, and had no problems since.
4-5% drain overnight, ~40% whole day use, inclusive of RSS reading and 2 35-minute bus journeys of A2DP goodness. ^_^
Without A2DP I get ~29% whole day use.
wm6 atom rom 0.3 or 0.7 = 25% overnight (without any software)
wm5 atom exec rom = 4% overnight (with WA2, HTC Home, pocket brease...)
ATOM WM6 AKU 0.7 8MB pagepool with HTC Home plugin & Touch Cube
ATOM WM6 AKU 0.7 8MB pagepool with HTC Home plugin & Touch Cube
15hours (9am-12midnite) usage and my battery is down to 60-70% of battery power left. I think thats pretty good battery life ( I switch off bluetooth though) - just normal PDA usage, SMS and some short phone calls.
Before, when I was at WM5 (with Xda-Atom-ENG-20060426-MOT0822), I didnt get such a good performance from my battery - battery would drain until 30% battery power left at end of day - but thats when I also left my bluetooth on all day.
I'm still using the original battery that came with my ATOM.
Did anyone replace original battery? where´s buy?

exactly what i was shouting about
wm6 8pp
if once fully charged it can work for 1 day + 6 hr
and earlier it was 3 days
I am again getting 25% loss after i hard reset and did not install Phone Alarm.
I can get good battery life.. i will revert back to WM5 AKU 3.3F to see any difference. Let me sync my data first

~2 days at the most with my normal usage. 12 hours if I accidentially leave a game running in the background.
I get pretty much the same results for 3.3F, so no difference there.
Guys, please remember that you have to redo the standard power saving tips (e.g turn off Recieve Incoming Beams) every time you hard reset or reflash your device. Make it a habit.

Yes... none of the 2.1 ROMs currently provide long battery life times. I believe that one of the chefs said it was because of the kernel and that it won't be fixed until HTC releases or leaks an official Hero kernel for Android 2.1.
However it also depends on what you think would be a good/adequate battery life.
Personally I charge every night so as long as the phone lasts circa 24 hours it is fine with me.
All 1.5 based roms should give you battery life over 24 hours even with everything turned on.
as for tips:
-turn of wifi when not using it
-turn of mobile internet when not using it
-turn of gps
-always put phone in sleep mode (end button) when not using it
- screen time out turned low
- backlight on low
- kill tasks that run in background
- don't have a bright wallpaper
Just depends how extreme you want to go
I have a decent battery life on the rom I am on (see sig) and I use a brightish wallpaper and auto backlight but always turn wifi off when out of the house.
Flashing a new radio file can also help battery life.
Edit: with a bit of use I have lost 5% in the last 8 hours on my phone today
Mhm too bad i like to use 2.1
Does 2.1 Roms drain the battery so much more?
Battery life is very important for me...
I am running the original Rom and i had to charge my hero every night, too.
But one day is okay...
Thank you for your tipps (bright wallpapers *lol*, but it make sense^^)
So what are you fav. 1.5 roms?

P.s. Does HTC want to upgrade the hero to 2.1 ??? Would be awesome...any dates?

indication is yes they are updating to 2.1 however they have not released any official confirmation of when.
rumors are March and/or April, but don't hold your breath
SenseHero 1.6 is awesome 1.5 ROM
Also it uses a nice theme, and can last for more than a day

To me BeHero has the best battery life of the 2.1 roms and Villain had the worst (the life would literally go from 100% to 50% in 4hrs and I barely touched the phone).

I put on 3.4 yesterday and ya my battery life was terrible. The only thing is that I hadn't ever updated my radio. Now instead of it being dead within 4-5 hours I've gone over a dozen and my battery is down to 45%, which is pretty good for me. I'm a pretty data intensive with my phone.
if you want to test the battery life, test it 2 days or more!, because the first day every rom(almost..) is draining fast, because then it needs to set up everything etc(idk excactly why)

Wow I find it very hard to believe that you only lost 5% battery in the last 8 hours with little use...do you have mobile data on or off?
Even with no use at all I can never get 5% decrease in 8 hours, regardless of whether its a 1.5 or 2.1 ROM. I keep my mobile data on all day and night and with no use at all i lose like 20% battery life in 4 hours.
If you want 2.1 firmware with good battery life, go foe BeHero_v1.3.2, I am using it without any trouble!

Trust me I was not lying I have no reason too.
Will report on what it does today.
Yesterday I had mobile internet mainly off but turned it off at certain times of the day.
So far today (3 hours since fully charged)
-wifi for about an hour
-use wifi things during that time (seesmic and News Rob mainly)
- bluetooth for 45 mins (journey to work)
- mobile internet for about 40 mins
- downloaded an app and tested it (used barcode scanner to scan a barcode (twice) and go to the download link)
- synced emails
- sent a text
- mobile internet now off and back asleep
And a reboot as my connection was lost for some strange reason
lost 2%

i can only say that perhaps ur battery is a special one..
i cant even get half of that with 1.5 rom (with the same usage)..i will surely lost like 10% with that kinda usage on phone..
no offense..but..unbelievable...
my current setting :
GPS , WIFI & Bluetooth off..
brightness around 15%
dark wallpaper..
mobile internet on when browsing needed
@aziz831
Lennyuk´s battery consumption is real. My battery would last 216 hours just in idle. But that would mean just asleep and waiting for a call.
I use WiFi 18/7, I have in that time mobile data enabled, I have a brown wallpaper and my backlight is on lowest level (but I can still see everything). My average loss is 1-1,5 % a hour if I´m in idle with all this enabled. Over night I do disable WiFi and auto sync, that saves a lot of power.
My average time of usage with one load is about 80-96 hours.

Battery drainage solution, I think

So, I have had a serious battery drainage problem, like most of hd2 users with wp7.
My battery usualy run max. 24h!
Now my phone run 2-3 days without charging.
I have just turned off connection with xbox live
So, go to the settings -> applications -> games, and turn off "Connect to Xbox Live"
I have 3G off
Data connection on (but mailbox, shares, weather ect. is updated manualy)
I hope this will help you...
Interesting will give it a go..... I have to say I beleive this and other 'solutions' may be solving part of the sympton and not the root cause BUT if it helps that's always good news until the chefs can get to the bottom of it!!
Thanks will let you know.
Cool cool
I already did this now.
Will also check it, and provide feedback.
Battery life is a bit of a problem, but atleast i have a car charger
I will give it a try.
3G on
Data connection on
its work this solution ?
I think it should work. I checked battery dainage with Xbox on right after turning phone on after sleep - about - 42 mA. So without use of the phone max time is less than 30 hours. But if Xbox is OFF current is just 5-7 mA. Means 6 times less on stanby!!! Will give it real timing try. Used Battery tool to measure current.
hello
did not work for me
It doesn't work in real life. After start some apps and close it current returned to 42 ma forever. No more 5-7 ma. Only turning on Airplane mode gives 2-3ma standby. So all bad battery life comes somehow from radio is too active.
Hello all.
I hear that if u change the radio version to a down one you have more battary life ..is it true ? there is anyone that tried that?

From my experience (only 3 days rooted LOL) you have to find radio that works best with your carrier. Better reception will stop phone trying to find masts, hence improving battery.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I don't see any problem with battery draining. If it gets you over the day, what do you need more. Over night you plug it in.
I have all switched on (location too) and no problem with music maybe 1h, reading mails, checking facebook several times surfing internet and news. I would even say its better than WM 6.5 doing the same, at least the same.
I think battery draining is not hd2 problem wp7 is the problem

It is definitely problem, comparing with all android ports where battery life is x2 more longer than in this "simplified" WP7!! Battery is dead in a half day in a standby is normal for you?
I solved my battery calibration issue by installing HTC battery tool, it fixes the calibration of battery so correct full charge is 100% and correct no charge is 0%. Give this a try, I am sorry I cannot post the link but I found this app on XDA too.

ok im running HD2O_1.04_DFT_LEO70_RELEASE and WAS running radio 2.15 and after 3 days testing and very poor batter life with registry fix, i decided to change my radio to 2.12. and so far after 7 hrs of testing ( full data, 3G, and internet browsing + youtube here andhier) my battery is still 3/4 change the radio it take 2 sec. to do.
with the old radio i was using, i went to work at 6a.m. got off at 3p.m. and i only had 1/4 left. with radio 2.12 i still have 3/4 and i used it more because im no longer at work.
try it good luck it worked for me
i will post another update around 6p.m. pst.

[Q] How can I put the Touchpad to sleep?

Is there anyway to put the Touchpad to sleep?
The battery is drain 5 to 10% just sitting there with screen shut.
Thanks.
You aren't giving a whole lot of context with your post. 5-10% per....? Hour? Day? Minute?
Mine came to work with me and wasn't plugged in. 10 hours later when I got home I was still at 85% battery. Not fantastic, but certainly tolerable.
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Sorry. 5 to 10% per hour.
So is there a way to put it to sleep? I fully charged it the other day, was gone for two days and it completely drained when I checked just now. iPad is at 70% since I last used it 3 weeks ago.

I would say that's definitely not normal. Did you make any changes to govnah? I'm using the Warthog kernel at 1.7ghz and left my TP in my bag all day at work. Total of 14 hours away from a charger and was still at 95% battery this evening.
Are you near WiFi where it's checking email or other apps that check for updates?
5 - 10% per hour is not normal. I've been using my touchpad since I came home from work so approximately 6 hours. It was on the charger, turned off before I came home. I have applied the kill logging patches, and all the common speed up patches, and am running the latest F4 Phantom kernel that was released today with an OC to 1.728 GHz. My WiFi is always on but my BT is not. My battery dropped 14% over that time period, or just over 2% an hour (with irregular use, not just sitting there).
Have you done all the patches in Preware and what not?
this is exactly why I wished we had a program that could read battery consumption
i have applied the common patches in preware but not overclocked.
my TP is now lying the 2nd day on my desktop with no app running and in standby. just looked and it shows still 100% (that might not be true, will be smth. >90% imho).
the problem is: what is running on your touchpad? when you have twitter/facebook and stuff running its like pn the smartphones draining your battery.
and when you use it all time the touchscreen needs alot battery, too.
have you tried changing the wifi sleep settings in the WiFi settings panel?
there's two options for it:
keeping it on all the time (even when the screen is off)
turn it off when the screen sleeps
I've found that setting it to the latter improves battery life
could be the solution to your woes,

Thanks! I changed the WiFi settings to turn off when screen sleeps. I had a big drain in sleep mode.
My question is about Bluetooth in sleep mode. Is the only option to manually turn it off when not in use? I am using Motorola Android Bluetooth keyboard and Sony Bluetooth headset. Using this keyboard now to type this. Have my headset physically turned off. Since headset is shown in normal while keyboard is bold, does that help with battery drain?
Wait so there is no standby or sleep mode? I changed the wifi setting to turn off and that helped battery drain a little. I don't have email setup or any im programs at all. With the screen off it drained about 25-30% in 5 hours of doing nothing.

That seems like a lot. Mine with email/wifi left on seems to use about 5% to 10% a day.
Are you still on the first/second charge? I've noticed my battery life improving a lot after the first few charges.

Something's wrong with yours. Mine's nothing like that. Are you using an app for measurement or how are you coming up with these numbers?

Wait so there is no standby or sleep mode? I changed the wifi setting to turn off and that helped battery drain a little. I don't have email setup or any im programs at all. With the screen off it drained about 25-30% in 5 hours of doing nothing.

Are both your cores accidentally overclocked all the time?
I have all the tweaks, 1.7 OC, wifi always on / never sleep, and my battery doesn't drop at all overnight.

I did the log patches, and have the F15C Eagle Kernel. Govnah shows both at 1.7, then 432MHz when idle. Sorry I'm still new obviously.

Another approach to fix battery drain

Hi,
I've got an idea to "fix" battery drain in WP7, as well as with Android.
I can't really assure you how much it's working as I do this each time I install WP7 since the first version of MAGLDR is out.
I started doing this because I had battery problems with magldr.
Here is the trick : In fact, when you install MAGLDR, Windows Phone 7 / Android, or even update WP7, the battery is not charging but draining (that kind of procedure eats a lot of power). But even if the installation ends with a 40% charge, the OS will be sure, at first start that it's almost 100% charged.
I think it's a reason why the battery goes empty faster than with Windows Mobile. It was default OS, with default configuration etc. so 100% was 100%.
So I think we must, at least once, charge the battery outside of the phone, with a dedicated charger. In that way, when WP7 will start, it will see the fully charged battery (100%, for real).
I think the OS will know, when the battery will be discharged, the real capacity from 100 to 0.
I hope it will help, and that I'm not wrong as I don't experience any real battery drain if I do this + camera trick since first version of WP7, and with any Android rom (except MIUI).
Hi
My solution is close to yours.
After each flash I let drop my battery until the phone died and you can't restart it under WP7
next I start to charge it under MARGL 5 min then i start WP7 and let it charge.
Now i'm sure that the phone have a good battery calibration.
My HD2, 2 years old, and with camera trick can stay 48 hours in 3G but only 24 hours in 2G??? WTF?
You're not completely right here, OS would not think that change at first boot is 100% charge, you can easily check that by booting first time on half empty battery and indicator will show about 50%.
But yes, battery stats might affect battery drain, so there is a button in MAGLDR something like "Clear battery stats", reboot to MAGLDR, charge to 100%, click that button, boot back to your OS.
intresting therys
What is we charged up to 100% and did a hard reset would that make the probum go away?

Oh ok. Weird, each time I flash WP7 or Android, it tells me that I've got something between a 100% and a 90% charge, which isn't possible, after having installed MAGLDR, then flashed the new OS and waited for the first boot (really long with Android).
Nonethless, I flashed WP 7.5 with radio 5.66, and I'm experiencing a huge battery drain, even with camera trick & external charge.
Even Miui seems to last longer. And Android tells me that I have a 62% battery charge, and I restarted the phone on WP and it tells me that I still have a 76% battery charge.
Why don't I have the same charge estimation ?

well I can't answer that question but I would bet android is not the 1 that is giving wrong charge estamations in on bttfv2 and I was on v1 and never experienced fast battery drain I personally like the wp7.5 over the other os's so I'm dealing with the fast battery drain issue & random reboots as well I also think the to problems are related some how the random Reboots it never happens when on on a charger! I really think someone should go back to bttfv1 to test and figure out what went wrong when new registry edits was implemented or the new rom was cooked but anyway I read DFT is also working on a new rom I'm not sure if it will be for hd2 tho.
I'm really hoping the problem can be sorted on my last phone I got about 300hrs out of 1 charge but charging touck a wile on my hd2 charging seams to be pretty quick which might not be a good thing not sure. But last night I had it on charge almost 10 hrs after it was already 100% and when I finly got it off the chager it seamed to last a little bit longer
But on rough estimate I'm thinking it last 5 hrs witch is just horrible

Unfortunately, it's a mistake. I've never seen any "clear battery stats" menu in MAGLDR. But I think it exists on ClockWork.
It's a shame...
Battery life 24hrs+
All,
After reading the above posts, I started practicing the following;
* Let battery drain more than 90% or until critical battery warning appear
* Charge in full
* Power of phone. As the phone power off, power off charger ( ... this action may be insignificant)
* Boot the phone to MAGLDR
* Select "Reset" option from the menu
* Phone reboots normally
I have been doing this for the last 2 weeks I guess plus more than 8 charge cycles and now my HTC HD2 lasts 24hrs+ at any rate.
... I am not a heavy user, but still, I have OutLook, GMail, FB, Twitter running 15mins sync interval. 10+ calls + 5/6 SMSs a day in average. My good'ol battery keeps me happy.
... hope this helps someone ...
I found that it was my choice in SD cards that was causing battery drain. The camera trick got me down to a battery draing of -200. I couldn't understand why I couldn't get down to -7. WP7 "seemed" to be performing fine.
Switched to PNY 16GB class 4 and I think WP7 has accepted it. Have had a few reboots, but nothing I can pin on the card yet. My battery life is amazing in comparison to before. W/ wifi and bluetooth turned off, I get a battery drain between -4 and -7. MUCH better than before.
I can't get Battery Tool to work to check the drainage on Mango, but I found out that having 3G enabled, Push enabled (set mail check on "upon arrival") is giving me the best battery life. I'm using Mango since yesterday morning 11 am until now (it's 9.42 here) and I have 31% battery left.
Average usage (but it's enough for me) with internet, mail sync, twitter, facebook and some pictures.
for the record, I did not use the 'camera' trick at all.
When I disable push, and have email check set to 'manual' i'm starting to have drains and I have to use the camera trick to keep it low...
I know everybody has different results.. but I just wanted to share this, see if others can relate to this
Its pretty strange this battery drain issue, i struggled with it for months with the last wp7 rom i used.
With this rom i struggled with sd card issues like everyone else, in the end i'd bricked 4 cards of differing sizes and the onlycard i had left was the tiny 2gb sandisk that came with my HD2.
Since settling on that card i've had no issues other than storage space and battery drain is a thing of the past which could suggest that card compatability is at the heart of the problem.
Its my guess that constant attempts at read/write failure may be going unreported by wp7.
Currently im seeing about 36hrs at my regular usage, i can stretch it to 48hrs if im careful.
My wifi is on throughout my working day, i make on average 6-7 calls and send and receive 10 or more txts along with a steady stream of people hub updates.
I'm happy in the belief that i don't have a battery issue, i just wish i had more space.
So much for my optimistic post earlier, one reboot messed up the battery read. 40% left and 2 hours of usage .... I give up
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
... try this for a change

... why don't you try this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18770816&postcount=9
... sometime back I too had the same problem, but that all changed!
if you fully charge (100%)..your phone in wp7 , it will show erroneous battery drain,...you can rectify it by restarting the phone, then use the camera trick.
if you charge till 99%.it is ok, but 100%...you need to restart

I haven't had that experience. Sometimes WP7 won't allow a full charge to happen though.
Something weird just happened.I was having Bluetooth problems. It wouldnt turn on.I then Flashed the DEv wifi plus Eu fix cab.It fixed my bluetooth but with some added treats. My battery life has more than doubled.Used to go less than 8hrs of normal use but now i hv gone 17hrs and i have around 50 % left.I didnt do any camera trick.Has anybody experienced this?
Hi, could anyone give me the link to Battery tool for WP7 Mango. Thank
