There are 2 ways I can think of to fix this. One way is to charge the phone with the wall charger first. Hold the camera button while pressing and holding the power button. This should put the device in bootloader while not plugged in to the wall and get the PC ready before connecting the USB to the phone. Make sure you have a full charge before you do this because it sounds like your battery died while flashing. If you do this, you should be able to get it connected to a computer long enough to flash it back to normal.
Seccond option, if battery will not charge in bootloader mode or when device is turned off, buy new battery and then follow steps above.
I hope this helps... I personally have never had this problem before.

No connection in bootloader mode
After a rom update has interrupted by 96% (and did not finish) I have no chance to connect my mda vario to my laptop. I still come to bootloader mode but no step further.
Have anybody an idea to solve this problem. Is there any other chance to get a connection to flash the rom again?
Many thanks in anticipation for any assistance!

[Q] Won't boot without USB

So about a week ago i flashed a new rom and forgot to remove voodoo before ( it was late ;/ ) and bricked my phone. The only thing it would do is start up to a grey battery screen with the little circle and lines thing then shut off.
So i ODIN flashed back to stock (T959UVJFD) and now the only way i can turn on my phone is if i plug it into a USB first. Either the charger or a computer then start it up and sometimes when the phone is on it will keep flashing USB connected at the top of the notification bar
Anothing thing im having problems with is when i try to use ODIN to Re-Partition my vibrant...nothing happens. it goes through the steps and flashes it like normal but doesn't do anything as far as Re-Partitioning it.
any idea on how i can get my phone to boot up without having to cart my phone charger around everywhere incase it decides to die off on me?
Thanks in advance
I had a similar problem. I have reflashed my Xperia X1. It reboots perfectly if it is attached to a power source/USB connection. However, if I remove the USB connection and try to start it I get the tricolor screen with the following text:
KOVS110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
The problem is not the battery. If I boot it while it is connected to a USB plug it starts perfectly. I can then remove the USB plug and it will continue operating. It just won't start without a USB connection.

First you are not bricked, bjorked but not bricked.
What does it do when you try to turn it on without a USB plugged in?
When you have it on and you press the power button does it give you turn off options? Or turn off?
As far as the usb notification, you can turn it off I believe. Is it USB debugging or USB mass storage notification?
How do you know it doesn't repartition in Odin?
Please answer these questions so we can try to solve the issue.

booting into flash mod is plugging your phone while pressing back button (and stay pressed !)
so you don't need that your phnoe stays off while on USB... since the main thing is that he needs to startup with USB
If him post didn't help you try turning off, taking off the battery for 5-10 seconds, then put again and try again unlocking your bootloader

[Q]Can't boot xperia x10 mini pro in flash mode and can't back it to stock ROM

Hello comrades,
I have xperia x10 mini pro. I rooted phone with Flashtool and installed CWM. I tried to boot it in flash mode (turned off phone, back button held and plugged in USB into the phone), but what I get is that my phone turned on always, like that I pressed Power button.
Earlier I couldn't boot it into the flash mode and I got that I charging battery, but after I installed CWM, phone always turns on.
Due to, I can't re-flash it because it always turns on. I tried with flashtool, PC companion, SEUS but all software need that I turn off phone and then hold back button and plug in usb and what I get is turned on phone. Please help me how to fix this problem.
I would like to re-flash it to stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 (2.1-update1).
Phone turns on even if I just plug in usb to phone (one end is in the PC and when I plug in other end into the phone, phone turns on). What is wrong guys?

Leave your phone plugged in and press POWER-HOME and BACK all together, as soon as the screen turns completelly black (backlight off too) releast POWER and HOME, and leave the back-button pressed, that will probably work too.

Can you explain me a little more detailed, i didn't get you very well. I am noob
How do you mean until I reach connection step, where should I reach connection step?
You take out the battery, then you go into PC Companion and follow the steps to repair your phone, until it asks to connect your phone in flash-mode.
Then do as he said (put the battery in etc.)

What do you think, what will happened if I wipe it using CWM? Can I brick it on that way?
If you mean formatting your phone, so you don't have a system on there anymore... that probably will give you a brick. Flashmode is a hardware feature, implemented to install firmware and enable reparations to your phone's software.
Deleting everything you can will not magically solve your problem, as far as i know.
It might help if you get mad at the phone and abuse the back-button by repeatedly pressing it when connecting the phone.

Does this mean that I have hardware problem. Phone works without any problem.
Somehow it doesn't detect you pressing the back-button, maybe there is some dust or dirt inbetween the contacts or something, since you flashed sucessfully before i don't think it's a serious hardware-problem.

I didn't flashed it before, I couldn't do that. I couldn't unlock bootloader, because I couldn't boot it in flash mode (phone just show that battery charging), after installing CWM now phone even don't show that battery is charging (it turns on when I plug in USB in the phone without holding any button). This is nightmare!
You are still on the original firmware then?
I mean, your phone still works?

Yes, I am on original firmware and phone still works, but I have problem to boot it in flash mode. When I plug in USB cable in the phone it turns on, like that I pressed POWER button. I don't press any button, but when I plug in usb cable 10-20 seconds and phone is on.
Yes, because your phone detects the usb-cable getting plugged in, even when it's off, it thinks you want to charge it, so (normally) it loads the kernel in order to start the charging-process, that is normal behaviour. I have been on a kernel that didn't support that feature, and it booted into the full rom before it started charging.
In short: the usb-port also functions as a power-button, sort off
Does the back-button work normally when you're on the firmware? (Like, open the app-drawer, pressing back-button should close it?)

Yes, the back button works perfect, closing apps (not close apps, but back to the phones "desktop"), back to previous pages in browser...
I am concerned because, before I installed CWM , when it was OFF and plugged in on USB, phone just showed black screen and when I clicked on some button I could see that battery is charging, that was all. Now, when I plug in USB it turns on like I pressed POWER button.
And off course never booted in flash mode because it turns on

What is app-drawer, I don't know what is that.
oh, that's the bit where you find all your installed apps, the grid you see when you press on the little triangle on the bottom of your desktop, or swipe up on the desktop.
I honestly don't know why your phone won't go into flash-mode though. Maybe try to take out your battery for about 10 minutes so your phone gets rid of all charge and static, and then try again.

I solved problem about POWER-ing on when I plug in USB. I installed new ROM "MiniCM7Pro_V21_Paul_XXX" via CWM because I didn't need to boot it in flash mode and now when I plug in USB I got that it charging battery and orange led diode.
But I can't boot it in flash mode even with new ROM, all the time orange led diode when I hold back button and plug in USB. I wiped out all date except something about "battery" from Advanced CWM options.

Bricked Z2 after flashing a recovery

Hello,
I've bricked my phone after a TRWP recovery. I've tried the solution provided on the forum (wait until the battery dies, unplug the battery....). Nothing worked.
I've tried to connect my phone to the PC and it cannot be detected. I have flashing red light when first connected and after few seconds a constant red light that stay for 30 seconds and flashing red light again.
I've tried to use adb devices command and nothing shows up. On linux, I've did "lsusb" command and the phone didn't show up.
Is that my device definitively broken or there is still option that I didn't explore?
Thanks for your support
Once time this happened to me but with my Z1, after desperately search for a solution and read many tutorials, the only solution was reinstall all drivers and connect device to be repaired with Sony Pc Companion, but is necessary have some of battery, if you drained completely, then charge it at least 50%
This works for me, and maybe works now, as long you device led indicator works and Pc sounds when plug in USB, then there's hope.
As @BalamXDroidhe said, charge your phone, put it off and try the program Pc Companion or Xperia Companion, but DO NOT WAIT for the computer to recognize the phone, why still remains the operating system is not loaded.
Just go to repair the software and i believe that everything will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I did try Sony companion. Unfortunatly this is not the software that is not recognizing the device, the computer itself don't shows any Z2 on USB port. Furthermore, I went to a repair shop and said that the battery is not charging at all. A mother board problem to his point of view.
I'm afraid that is not much to be done at this stage
If you have any suggestion....
Thanks
first of all you need to charge the battery or swap it with another one if the phone isn't charging it at all. then try to boot the phone in flash mode with flashtools in order to try to flash a new .ftf (use the guide below for flashtools).
http://www.gizmobolt.com/2015/04/09...z3-23-1-a-0-690-ftf-using-flashtool-manually/
This is the first step to do in a such situation.

Never wait until the battery dies, that is not wise at all.
How did you unplug the battery? You completely disassembled the device? That is not wise at all.
You should have simply pressed Vol up plus power for 3 seconds, that would have forced a power disconnect. It is that easy.
The 2 things you did are somewhere close to the worst things to do when your device has a problem.
You could try a charged battery from another device as said but you will likely physically damage the device when you open it. or simply leave on wall charger for a few hours and see if it can charge.
Ensure your USB cable is a "data" USB cable, not a cheapo charge only cable.
Even try another windows computer.
May I ask how did you brick your device? What did you do in recovery?

Hello,
I've had a problem while updating a custom ROM and I had to restart the rooting process from scratch. All went well (Kit kat install, rooting, TRWP install) until I've used a previous TRWP backup. Since then, only red light
Is there an hardware problem occured at the same time that I flashed the device... Very unlikly. My feeling is that the kernel is corrupted and don't allow the device to start the early stage boot and so no more charging and no connection possible. It's just a feeling.
Thanks for your support

What do you mean by "after a TWRP recovery"?
Your bootloader is locked or unlocked?
Use a wall charger to charge your phone.
Hello,
"Never wait until the battery dies, that is not wise at all." => I did not at a first, I've tried to flash with flash tool the stock rom with roughly 80% battery. The phone was already not detected by computer ( I tried Linux, Windows 8 and Windows 7 computer).
"How did you unplug the battery? You completely disassembled the device? That is not wise at all.
You should have simply pressed Vol up plus power for 3 seconds, that would have forced a power disconnect. It is that easy. "
=> I couldn't agree more that is not wise to disassemble the device, I've done it after I tried the Vol up+ power technique.
"The 2 things you did are somewhere close to the worst things to do when your device has a problem." => The next time...
"You could try a charged battery from another device as said but you will likely physically damage the device when you open it. or simply leave on wall charger for a few hours and see if it can charge." => No charge at all over night with genuine Sony charger and cable. I brought it to a repair shop and with a magnetic charger, not better.
Thanks for your reply.
"What do you mean by "after a TWRP recovery"?" => I've made a backup before flashing my custom rom, just in case. As I said, the rooting process went well until I launch the backup recovery.
"Your bootloader is locked or unlocked?" I'm afraid that is the step I've missed after flashing KitKat and rooting. Is that possible that locked bootloader can lead to that mess?
"Use a wall charger to charge your phone" => No charge, just blinking red light even with battery level at least 50%.
Thanks for your reply.
Same thing happened to me. My phone got bricked.
Its not androxide flashtool or sony companion
Use this.
Its official sony xperia flashtool.
Its called 'Emma'
http://developer.sonymobile.com/open-devices/flash-tool/
All process shared in link..
Good luck
Hello,
I also tried Emma without any success.
Thanks again
The exact same thing happened to me when i flashed a kernel, what i did, was just open xperia companion, click on repair software, and follow the instructions, connecting in flash mode and that stuff, and boila, brand new. i almost cried when that happened to me tho:crying:
it seems that you are using locked bootloader phone, and flashed custom kernel or twrp image, can you connect in fastbooot mood of in flash mood? (by pressing vol+ and connecting usb or vol- and connecting usb respectively),

weird problem: blinking red light, but boots and works. only charging problem?

yesterday i went from citrus to slimrom. Dont know what caused this, but I havent found anyone else with this problem when i tried to search for it.
This is what I have found out:
1. If I connect my charger when the phone is on, nothing happens (cant seem to connect it to the computer either..).
2. If i reboot it with charging cable in. it hangs with the "blinking red light".
I can reboot it by unplugging the charger and pressing power button a couple of times.
3. If I reboot it and let it boot to mi-logo, I can connect charger and it will charge.
This is the only way I have found it to charge: reboot, wait until logo and then connect charger, it will charge every time. Never if I connect it when the phone is booted).
Anyone know how to fix it, the phone works perfectly otherwise.
I have tried this:
installed CM 13, with cm 13 firmware.
installed Citrus again.
Installed exodus MM-rom.
nothing changes this.
The phone came with unlocked bootloader when I bought it from ebay, guess it is unofficially unlocked? Any way to check if its unofficially or officially unlocked? does it matter?
Sounds very similar to what happened to me and it was because the bootloader somehow locked itself again. I just plugged it back into my computer and unlocked it again.
Thanks, but when I try to unlock it with mi unlock tool, it says "couldnĀ“t verify device, no need to unlock"...
I can enter twrp, is my device still locked but I can enter recovery?
Update: I have tried this:
Flashed a stock rom, relocked bootloader, still had the same problem...
unlocked bootloader officially. Rooted and installed krexus rom, still have the same problem...
Found this thread: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/redmi-note-3g-not-charging-no-pc-connection.26290/
Does anyone know how to enter engineering mode on rn3sd?
Anyone know if I can short circuit the charging port like described in that thread?:
"After connecting a faulty USB cable my phone stopped connecting to PC and charging - It shows the symptoms of being in USB Host mode permanently.
I was able to charge the phone by entering engineering mode (Dial *#*#3646633#*#* ) and going to the Hardware Testing tab, scrolling up to UART/USB switch and selecting UART
The phone would then charge normally."
"I had that problem too. And I did what u did too.. the problem is that there is some sort of confusion between Otg and USB... so you will have to short circuit the charging port to revive it.
First open up your phone. To make the internal components visible.
Then connect ur charger to the phone.
While the charger is connected, use a flat metal or wire to short circuit the charging port. You should see a small spark and your phone would off.
Connect battery and Switch it back on. If it doesn't work try again for three -four times. If it doesn't still work then send your phone for repairs.
Don't be afraid, it's only 5volts your phone won't blow up. Short circuiting the charging port would revive it..
I did that to mine and it has been working well till now. "
