Coreplayer doesnt support the windows stream and windows media player wont even seem to stream any windows format. the link usally errors out without even trying to open windows media player. Currently im using pks 2.0 rom

Tcpmp player ver 0.72 or 0.81 works great for Orb
make sure to give it all the file associations it requires

thanks will try that again.

.avi doesnt work for WMP

I have tryed a number of .avi files and havent been able to open them using WMP how come it doesnt work. :? replys much appreciated
The same problem happens to me.. I cannot copy the music using the wmp to my xda. It states the network path was not found. Anyone help me pls..
download Divx or sum other media player
had the same problem here. Downloaded the windows media encoder and converted to pocket pc friendly format, and worked a treat!
pocket wmp only play wmv and asf and other ms formats
the only non ms formats i think it plays are midi not sure if it does play that since i havent tried, wav, mp3
the give aways is if you explore around your files and choosing a avi file dont make wmp play it automaticly it's simply because it dont support it
and it dont auto get codecs like it does on windows at least my wmp dont but then it's not version 9

media player wont play any files

hi all,
i just got my xda and im still learning how to use all of its features, i read that wma files should work in the media player but when i open the video it says 'windows media cannot play this file'
any ideas anybody? as the media player was one of the main reasons for buying this phone
cheers steve
i tried downloading and using 'pocketmusic' and when i go to find media files it doesnt pickup anything other than mp3 and the original media player video
i also tried a new rom and still no joy

im still no closer to playing media files with media player
my media player is version 8.5 build 12177
i have tried all media types, it plays music fine but wont play any mwa wma mpeg avi files at all
ive tried installing other media players and the same problem occurs, it comes up with a message saying something along the lines of, there are no programs associated with that file type
i also installed a newer upto date rom and it made no difference
can anybody help, i really am out of ideas
What rom version are you at. I have the same problem and I'm at A.30.09. I started to have this problem after i upgrade from PPC2002. Hopefully we can find a solution.

Windows Media Player

Hi,
My media player in Ameo is keep hanging when ever i play any thing in media player.
running WM6 HTC ver on Ameo
any one have cab file to reinstall or any thing to fix it.
Why not use TCPMP? Works GREAT, plays everything I have here.
You can get it for example together with PK 2.0, also a lot of other cool stuff.

1. Check for codecs, I'm playing w WMV here right now. Windows Media Video 8 codec through FFmpeg plugin.
2. If nothing helps - you can recode the videos into the codec TCPMP recognises, there's a plethora of tools available.

Are you running real vga, if so this is a known problem, and there is a fix cab for it somwhere, in the pk 2.0 rom forum.

i found that all i had to do was to go back to 192 dpi in real vga and then do the following.
if the program opens up in the library screen, tap ok to get to the main player window.
tap menu
tap options
tap the skin tab
let the picture of the skin load
close the program
set real vga back to 96 dpi
works like a dream for me.

s740 video player

hi at all!! i'm looking for a video player but anyone seems work right in this device.
in particular i would play flv video... tcpmp doesn't work, neither flash lite, core player, youtubeplayer...
could someone help??
thx
Mmmm...
I don't know about a player, but I do know of a free converter which you can then play any video file via Windows Media Player. I normally convert to VGA even though this device is QVGA, they play great!
Try this
coreplayer
Or free TCPMP (but not all version work fine on Rose).

[Q] cannot play videos via allshare or Skifta (Unsupported file format)

Region: AUSTRALIA
Provider: OPTUS
AVer: 2.3.6
BVer: I9100XXK14
Issue: When using allshare or skifta the native player says it cannot play my mkv's avi's that ive tried to play, they use h264 or xvid codecs so i dont see why the stock player cannot play them as i read in other posts that videos of these form can be played on the stock player. I connect to these videos via PS3-Media-Server for windows and sometimes wonder why it can't just stream it to my mobile like how it does for the ps3.
Also with skifta is there a app player that can play mkv's with soft subs? Ive tried mvideo and rock but they either stutter have HUGE colour artefacts or wont load the subtitles.

Are you trying to stream to your phone using the ps3 media server remote device using Allshare? That doesn't work for me, but if you enable media sharing in windows media player and access your files through the windows remote device in allshare that should work fine, (Open media player, switch to library, and enable the options under 'stream').
Alternatively download and install UPnPlay and MX Video Player from the Play store. If all your devices are on the same home network (local) and you have enabled media sharing / shared folders you can simple browse for the file using UPnPlay and play using MX Video Player, which also plays subs! This combination will play most things you throw at it, make sure you render to your device when playing, if you try rendering to a dlna enabled tv or something else etc you may get a 'file format unsupported' error.
Hope this helps. If you need any more help just drop a comment
I tried skifta with mxplayer and after a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy long wait it worked (had to enable subtitles myself but its no big deal). Is it normal to have that wait? is it different with unpnplay?
Thanks for recomendding MX player its sooo much better ill thank you once everything works out!

Give Unpplay a shot, it's free so you've got nothing to loose, and no it's not slow at all. I use Unpplay to access media from my NAS drive. I didn't find Unpplay terribly intuitive to begin with (probably just me) but stick with until you're successfully streaming
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
It works with both i tried =D!
But wezi i think i should recommend you skifta ! I think its much more to offer . But thanks for the MX recommendation i thank you very much.
Good to hear it worked, and i'll check Skifta out also
