Is there a registry tweak to allow the speakerphone to stay enabled when you close the flip? Currently it ends the call.
I believe the same thing happened with the old MPx220 and the MPx200 but nothing was ever figured out for these phones.
I would like to know this as well.
Bump - Speakerphone while lid closed...
Any news on this?
My Googling is telling me thus far - NO! NO! and NO!
Any Russian Gurus care to negate this?
speakerphone
Ok, I am trying to figure this out, here is what I have so far,
I have two 3125's, one was running an old dopod rom and the other the most recent Cingular release. (will get numbers later)
On the old phone, if I hit the "lock keys setting" (press and hold home button), while on a call with the speaker phone on, I can close the phone, the call continues and the outer display shows the call info (ie, who the call is to and connection time)
One the newer phone, with the same setting, the phone just hangs up when you close it.
I backed up the old phone with sprite backup, then ran sprite on the newer phone thinking maybe the registry setting would carry over (in case I was missing something), but the newer phone still just hung up when closed during a call.
After several rom changes I remembered why I quit using the old phone, the charging port came loose and does not work, so my guess would be that the old phone stays on due to the broken charging port, what leads me to this is of course if you have the headset in, the phone can be closed while on a call.
Where does that leave us? It would seem that the issue is not a registry value change (although I won't give up on trying to find one) but a software issue and until someone figures out how to change it were are stuck with no closed speaker phone.
Hi
So every time I power on my StarTrek there is this sound...its like a tune or something...I did not mind it at first till I was in class and decided to turn on my phone to check my TXT messages. It only happens when you Power on the device...any one have any idea on how to disable that sound ? or change it ?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\
There is a list of system sounds. In this list there is "Shutdown" maybe a good place to have a look. Have used this branch of the reg tree to alter all my system notifications to something nicer.
However my Qtek 8500 is running the 3125 Rom and its never made any startup or shutdown sounds.
Download and use Breaksofts Mobile Reg Editor, allows you to use the PC to edit the reg on the device, much easier than doing it on the device and its free !!!
http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx
Alternatively just leave the phone on but put it in Flight mode when in class !
Humm I will have to check that out ... I just got my phone and only used it for a few hours and went back to my 8125 (Wizard) perhaps its time to install total commander on here to do just that
I wonder if others who have the 3125 (phone from cingular as assposed to buying the 8500 and then putting the Cingualr Rom on it) have this experience
With a registy editor it is a simple registry fix to kill them.
Got to HKLM>software>HTC> you will see entries for both startup and shudown. Go to the WAV default entries and delete them (\windows\STARTUP_422.wav). Write in the word none in their place. Return to the home screen. Soft reset and you'll just hear silence on startup and shutdown.
HKLM>software>HTC> Branch is not in my reg tree nor is the STARTUP_422.wav anywhere in system.

Ive had this tmobile mda for about a year and it was telling me that its memory was dangerously low or something. so i told it to clear all text messages cause there was like 5000. i figured it would take a half a day or so and i just left it. after a day it was still lagging and pretty much not responding or answering calls or texts or anything so i pulled out the battery to reset it. when i put the battery back in every soft key short cut button i pushed resulted in error message saying, error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename. when i enter the start menu everything is gone except for 'today', 'calupd', and 'coldinit'. all of these are dead shortcuts. its like all the memory of the phone (pocket windows) is gone. how do i go about trying to fix it. i can 'explore' on microsoft activesync, but it tells me when i tried to upgrade the software, that it is not connected.
even a nudge in the right direction would be helpful
Try to Hard Reset your device after backing up.
Punching Reset hole (Next to IR window) while holding CommManager and VoiceDial, then you will be presented a black screen with white text, press "Dial" to wipe all user data.
Ok i have a alltel touch pro, stock rom the only thing i have changed was the theme. i have diamond tweak and tf3d config and advance config tool all installed. For some reason I will pull my phone out of my pocket turn the screen on and the data will be on. I have weather, gps, and all other options that use data turned off unless i tell it to turn on. (or so i think)
Is there anything you guys know of that would be a reason for my data to be coming on automatically. it is killing my battery and it is becoming annoying to after having my screen off for an hour or so (sometimes more) to pull it out and the data be on for no reason.
any help please?
thanks
Jeff
I also had the same problem. My phone did the exactly same thing, but since I have a notification on my phone on when this would occur it I would press and hold the end key to terminate the data.
What I did to get rid of it was first backed up all of contacts, sms, etc..
and did a hard reset.
Got rid of all of the extras I had installed.
And reinstalled only the things that I needed.
for example net.3.5 tf3d config, personalizer.
If you don't have a back up program (make sure you have a sim card as when you back up you'll be backing it up into your sim) use PPCPimBackup.exe which you could find through google.
I'm still a noob to ppcs and my touch pro, but if you have any questions on how to do the following just let me know.
If you download advanced config tool you can set the data connection to turn off automatically. There are also a ton of other options that will help optimize your phone and save battery
Do you have an E-mail account set up on your device? If so, you may have set it to connect every so often. One other thing that comes to mind would be if the QuickGPS app needs to update the certificates, it will connect to the internet.
You may want to get a custom rom in your device. This will get rid of a lot of junk...
Good luck!
Hello there guys. This is my first post on this forum, so please bear with me. I have problem on my device. Basically my htc hd2 was running fine, i had all my programs installed etc. I have created various backups of the phone using sprite backup.
I decided to do a hard reset because the phone never used to go into standby (screen off) when charging, only the backlight used to dim. I checked all the settings and i set the device to dim after 1 min and switch off after 2 mins when connected to external power. It still never switched off, this was turning out to be a nuisence specially when getting missed calls at night and screen staying on.
Therefore i done a hard reset and used sprite backup to restore various backup's as i had a few, but they wernt making the device function correctly. So once the backup file's were restored everything would be fine on the phone untill it went into standby, it then would fail to respond, sometimes the hardware button light up, sometimes nothing. The screen would remain off. I would really like to use the backup files as restoring the phone manually would be teadous. Any clues in what could be causing this, cant be the case off a bad backup as i have created a few.
P.S When hd2 is returned to stock it functions normally. Programs installed battlog, clear temp, bsb tweakes opera 10, opnmarket, skype, spb wireless monitor, coreplayer, srs wowhd 1.5.1.0 v2.1, coreplayer 1.3.6, myplayer, 1NETCFv35.wm.armv4i, 2NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm, resco explorer + reg editor, cht cookie hometab.
Really appreciate it if you pros can shed any light on this? cheers
Same problem here!
Hi,
I face exactly the same problem - some days ago I was forced into a hard reset because I couldn't unlock my HD2 anymore (the PIN was not accepted anymore, which seems to be a know Win Mobile 6 bug...).
Nevertheless, after the hard reset, I restored from a previous Sprite Backupset and now the phone most of the time never wakes up from standby anymore - this drives me nuts!
I really do not to install everything from scratch (what is backup good for if the restored system does not function properly??
Any clues how to solve this issue?
Jan
Seems like the program you are using for backups of software isn't backing up properly and creating a corrupt backup. I would recommend just reinstalling everything from scratch.
What i recommend is just saving all the cab files on your SD card and when you need to hard-reset you can just run through all the installation instead of keep downloading the cab files. Also some Roms have auto-install folders where you can place your cab files in a certain folder and it will install everything for you. Other than that your pretty much SOL. Hope this helps.

SPB Backup v2.1.0 build.3536 has served me well ...
SPB Backup. I've had to restore backups to my phone several times, and it's worked like a charm. Be sure to consider using the SPB Backup Sync feature, which allows you to also so keep copies of your backups on another computer.

I think, I have solved the problem. I reinstalled and re-configured all our common programs (battClock, clear temp, bsb tweakes, opera 10, skype, spb wireless monitor, coreplayer, srs wowhd, NETCFv35.wm.armv4i, resco explorer + reg editor, cht cookie hometab) and it work with no problem in the last 24 hours. It means that one of the above programs couldn't be restored properly with the "sprite backup".
