Does anyone have a similar pbl as I do. Coming from the M600 that I have after installing several different roms I don't ahve any sound anymore over the normal speaker, though the headphones work perfectly.
So I do absolutely have no clue where this comes from so I would be thrilled if anyone had an idea of how to fix this.....thx

does it work sometimes? try putting an mp3 to play and tap on the speaker to see if you get some noise.
You'll have to know if it's hardware or software... i'm guessing it's hardware since the prophet's speaker is really bad...
I had the same problem and I did send my m600 to the insurance company. It's the third time my speaker gave up on me. For some reason it keeps on dieing...

I recently noticed that the ring tone on my phone keeps cutting out. It has now completely died such that there is now no sound coming from the phone speakers at all. The phone does not ring, there is no music coming from the speakers and no notification tone. The only way i know the phone is ringing is from the vibration. If I plug a earphone into the earphone socket there is music coming from the earphones.
I initially thought it was an issue with the earphone socket thinking an earphone was still stuck in it but i never use the phone for music so never use it with earphones and there is no earphone symbol on the phone.
I have backed it up and done a hard reset to no avail (using Rom 3.73.405.5) and confirmed that the ring tone and music volumes are on full.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or can I sadly assume the phone is dead.
Regards y'all

It seems like your internal speaker/ringer inside the phone may be damaged and needs to be replaced. Either a warranty job or replace it yourself if you know what you are doing.
I was afraid of that. The phone is out of warranty but i wouldn't mind attempting a repair. Would you know if there are any manuals or guidelines available?

Not that I know of but this vid might help. They're quite straight forward to disassemble, more so than most HTC's out there!! I'm not sure where you might get a new speaker but maybe E-bay as part of a housing or back chasis?
Good Luck.
Strangely enough, I just had the exact same thing happen to me today. My rear speaker just died, so that I don't hear the phone ring or the notifications. There's no music or keypad sounds, and speakerphone doesn't work. The earpiece works just fine, and if I use headphones I can hear everything, but the speaker in the back of the phone seems to have completely died.
Some questions, if anybody's able to answer them:
I'm using a Telus Hero on AT&T here in the US. Can I still take advantage of the warranty? If so, is this even covered by the warranty? If not, does anybody know of a good place to buy a replacement part so I can replace it myself? Is the part for the CMDA (Sprint) Hero the same speaker?
As for the disassembly of it, I found this thread on HTCPedia that provided a download of HTC's service manual for the Hero.
http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1706
Update: Thanks to the power of Google search, I've answered one of my questions. I found this website that sells replacement parts for a whole lot of different phones, including the Hero.
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/HTC-HERO-s/5502.htm
I can't vouch for the website at all, I just found it on Google, but at least it might save somebody else the trouble of searching for it.
Exactly the same thing happened to me too..... one day the speaker started crackling, soon after no sound was coming from the external speaker :-(
I opened up the Hero, and there didn't seem to be much dust, an everything looked ok (nothing burnt out or broken)
bjg222, thanks for the links, I was so close to ordering from that website, when I found a Hero on eBay being sold for parts. I missed out on the middle section (with the speaker), so was going to go back and order from global direct parts
Then, bored one day, I thought I'd check out YouTube, even though I had no sound. A few seconds into the first video, the speaker started crackling to life! The video ended with broken sound, so I loaded up another vid, and inexplicably the speaker started working fine!!!
I have no idea how this happened, or what was wrong with it for 3 weeks, but now it is working again, and has been for over a week now.
Just thought I'd let you guys know..... there is hope!
same thing has happened to me.. no sound yet headphones and earpiece work just fine.
the site mentioned above for parts doesnt seem to have a cdma hero speaker.. just the gsm version which doesnt look the same. the hero speaker actually resembles the evo speaker from what i can tell. anyone know for sure?
Hey guys, I have a hardware issue but first the background story
So my phone fell on concrete and the screen broke. I bought a digitizer and replaced it myself. After a month or so, I broke it again. I replaced it, but the unit I got was faulty, and I only got the replacement today.
I opened the phone again and replaced the digitizer, and it's working great!
however in the process I must have done something wrong since my audio/sound doesn't work anymore.
1)Loud speaker works just fine and the microphone works since I am able to talk to people and they hear me
2) When I plug in my earset, the sound works just fine on the earphone. The microphone switches over the earset's microphone and I can hear/talk just fine.
The only problem that I have is I can't hear anything if i put phone next to my ear :/ I opened again looked around, but didn't find anything obvious that might explain wha went wrong. Would anyone know where to look/what to test?
Cheers
anyone any idea please? D:
I haven't opened up my Mozart just yet but from my experience with HTC phones I would suggest checking the contacts of the speaker. They tend to have little springs on the speaker that come in contact with the mainboard and this is how the signal is transmitted. If these contacts are damaged then you will not hear anything.
With all the drops you may have damaged the speaker itself but I'm not sure of a way you could test that.
The problem i had was that I used my sony ericsson X8 headset and the sound came out funny, the thing that was cuasing it was the microphone. Try stock headset to see if it works. If it doesnt then you might want to get someone to check it or fix it. Up to you.
Hey guys, does anyone have this issue? The audio from the loudspeaker is just crap, and also the position of it is away from the screen?? What sense does that make? I'm trying to watch a video, not broadcast the video's audio to everyone in my general area (except me).
Now that's a physical problem and can't be fixed. What I'm really mad / inraged about is the jack audio. Any type of headphones I plug into is extremely quite. Compared to my old phone (xperia play) I can't hear anything....is this normal? Does anyone else have any similar problems? I can't even wear these outside and listen to music, the wind and car noise is far louder. I'm forced to bring my old xperia play instead just to hear something (which btw, it's like twice as loud on this phone) and if that's going to be the case every day then it's time to sell this Evo 3D.
Another side note is that the range of the audio is also not very good, I can hear it struggle with high ranges as it makes "pops" in the audio...very disappointing..

My audio has always been fine, but maybe you could try using an EQ or something (might need to be rooted)

It's possible that my phone is faulty, but let me ask you this; what volume is your phone at when you think it's fine? I have to place mine at max to be "fine", not great, but fine. While the xperia play is at 50% being just fine.

I personally keep mine at 30% - 40%, it's a comfortable volume. Anything past 70% is a bit too loud. Do you think it may be your headphones..? Or it could possibly be a software issue like your ROM.

Originally I thought it was my rom, so I flashed another; same issue, so then I flashed the RUU...same issue. Tried different headphones, same issue, tried the same headphones on different devices...works completely fine at loud audio. Guess the phone is screwed. It already doesn't have any gsm radio connectivity.

Yeah, a hardware issue would make sense if nothing else is working.

Are you using the HTC headphones? Because after plugging in the original HTC headphones it came with, I found that these headphones are loud and working correctly. So it seems that any other 3rd party headphones will not duplicate the same result. That is unfortunately because I hate the htc ones, they don't cancel out background sound at all. They all have the exact same jack, 3 rings, same size, etc. But the HTC one is different. When plugging those headphones into my xperia it gives an error and says they aren't supported. So it's obvious that HTC put some type of technology into them that differs them from regular headphones.
Edit: Alright, so I tried yet another pair of headphones lying around and they work fine too. Is it possible that I tried the worlds only two headphones that don't work well with this phone? In any case, I'm no longer mad about the jack audio, it's obviously fine. But the loudspeaker is and always will be an issue, which sucks but oh well.

Nope, using third-party (JVC) headphones. Good to see you've got it sorted out though. Also I agree about the loudspeaker, it's a piece of crap. My old Evo 4G had a better one.
My phone is quite loud!
On mwakious Rom and it has tweaked audio settings.
It's gsm but maybe try the xloud mod available. Should improve audio volume

Hi,
I have a problem with my microphone which was really weak. I can't have calls because people don't understand what i saying.
So i decided to change my USB Board. I buy one from eBay, but after changing it, the microphone is still weak
I tested both microphone directly with the phone disassembles, and it works correctly. But when I reassemble the phone, the microphone does not work (it is really weak).
Does anyone know where it can come because I do not really understand the problem.
Thank you.
Try cleaning the mic's hole on the case.Maybe there is a little dirt stuck.

Already tried, the hole is totaly clear
bkd35,
I have exactly the same problem. Nothing changed after replacing this USB board also. It seems that mic is working but all it records is way to quiet. I was checking that with voice recorder, it records sounds when I yell into that small hole.
Everything is perfectly clean, no dust anywhere. Also I checked if the problem still exists after reinstalling android, after going through many roms, stock and custom ones nothing changed.
What is more interesting, for me sad, I was looking for a solution on many forums and all people can say is to use service codes but they don't work for me. Guys, any ideas what to do? Thanks
EDIT: oh and by the way, maybe it would be better if this thread would be "low microphone volume" or something like this
So I ask this only because I have been unable to find any kind of anything about this anywhere on the web. Wow thats a lot of any's!! Anyways,,,, so I have a ZTE N9519 on Boost Mobile. (Still don't know how if any of you guys have gotten it rooted) <<thats another thread.... found the one on here but cant get Kingroot. besides the point.. I have this Awesome Flagship for a phone and I accidentally was trying to amplify the sound of a Bluetooth speaker with a phone charger cord... Shouldn't have been doing that, cause the headphones were plugged into my phone. So as a result no sparks no death to mu phone at all what so period except for 2 minor well kinda important things... So when I plug headphones into my device now and try to hear a phone call you hear them but not really i mean really super quite and I hear like not really static but kinda like it, or anything through the speaker that you would listen to if you were holding it to your ear is super super quite like you cant even hear really. But if I put it on speaker phone just fine now I know the two are connected to different parts on the board thats why it didn't effect my speaker phone option or Bluetooth. Also know that the headphone jack and oem speaker are close that why it effected both. my question would have to be is their a way do fix it or would I have to buy a new phone. oh and by the way the phone works fine screen touch no glitches nothing really!!! I was surprised as well really just those two things.....
