OK, Here is the deal.
I have created a working XdaLive Screen Lock for the XdaLive Live Wm6.
This is similar to the iphone with a working Sliding Unlocker. Only I put the sliding unlocker on the top and used XdaLive image as the Background & put the Digital Clock and Date at the Bottom as you can see in the Image I attached.
FINAL WORKING LIST:
1. Battery Life
2. NEW SMS Counter
3. Active Tasks
4. New Emails
5. OWNER NAME DISPLAY.
(TODO: A LOT OF THINGS LIKE ADDING MORE FUNCTIONALITY, FIX A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS & NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO READ REGISTRY KEYS with SPACES in BETWEEN ANY HELP? ONE THING IS TO NOT HAVE THE APPLICATION QUIT ON END BUTTON (FIXED!).)
Another thing:
----------------------
Does anyone know how to replace the default Lock with this one? I tried replacing the DeviceLock.exe with this one and it does not work. BSDeviceLock.exe does not exist in WM6 either.
WAS A LITTLE OUT OF IT BECAUSE OF JACK DANIELS. HENCE THE BLACK SLIDER
DUE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTING TO TEST THIS, I DECIDED TO JUST PUT THE FILES IN THE OPEN AS I WORK WITH THEM. LIKE DAILY SNAPSHOP OF THE EXECUTABLES (WHENEVER I WORK ON THEM)
THIS IS A PRE-PRE BETA OPEN TEST RELEASE AND NOT PACKAGED.
UNZIP AND PUT THE FILES IN A FOLDER. THE DLL & THE EXECUTABLE HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME FOLDER
REQUIREMENT: FLASH ACTIVEX (NOT FLASH LITE)
ZIP FILE DESCRIPTIONS:
--------------------------
1. xdaLiveScreenLock.zip (XDA LIVE UNLOCKER)
2. SliderLock.zip (JACK DANIELS BLACK SLIDER)
*****MORE IMPORTANCE WAS GIVEN FOR LOOKS RATHER THAN FUNCTIONALITY WHEN STARTING THIS.****
not responsible for anything that might happen by using this little useless application. There are a lot of small glitches usability wise, else works good. preference was given to aesthetics more than anything else. The size is big due to the sliding component being created in flash.
ADDED A 240X240 SLIDER. THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED AS I DO NOT HAVE A 240X240 Device.
.
this looks excellent, good job! I have been wondering about that also, devicelock is signed is it not?
Anyone know of a generic wrapper with basic API calls that I can call from within this Flash Application?
edit: compiled own from source code found, change adopted and compiled.
Hi,
i don't really use the device lock... because when turning the phone in standby all key's are locked and i don't want that the screen is always on...
or is there any other significance about using the device lock??

don't really know it helps... but just test too but the string in " " like in commandline when using spaces... maybe you can just try to use double bslashes \\windows\\system32\\
this looks awesome. the people on this forum never cease to amaze me. Pure Genius
WOW the progress of this is really good sir, youve managed to implement a few more features since i last looked. This will definatly be in the Extras wiki page once it is fully working
I thought about what you could do in respect to replacing the standard lock, disable the lock in the today settings and map this program to a hardware button (5??) How does it fair after a power off (just standby not fully off) as it would be a good way to check the time etc... in the night?
keep up the good work CD, quite a few people are waiting for something like this.
Heya all gurus, give tha man a little help with issues maybe?
Thanks Ppl.
This is something I have been wanting to do for a while now but just got around to doing it. Hopefully in a couple days I will have everything squared out.
I am wondering if I should let ppl test this out. I will also have changeable backgrounds for this.

To read the registry I had to actually use \\\\ to get to different levels. But I am NOT able to read the Value Names with spaces.

Since not even Sbp Mobile Shell was able to replace the lock screen (and that while they basically have something to show then ready with their new Intro screen), I guess it could get quite complicated to replace it...
Does anyone know if the fake iPhone things that were or were not around are able to replace the lock screen? I especially remember that last one were only videos existed, it had a real good fake, but I'm not sure if the video showed it really in action as a lock screen?

I am able to Execute it on "Device Wake" via notifications (thanks KYPHUR for the suggestion.) I also actually was able to replace keylock @ Install time and an installation induced reset. The icon also shows up in the Setting folder.
I am also thinking about doing a Today Plugin. Let's see how that goes.
Looks nice..cant wait till its released..

Yeah!!
Would love a slider unlocker as a today plugin. I use the WMP plugin since I use my phone as an mp3 player a lot so the device lock function on the today screen is a must for me.
Great work and look forward (hopefully) to a today plugin.

Could you use %20% AND %40% to represent the space and other special characters as they do on other windows products? MS has a list on its knowledge base for these...I think %20% is the space, but not sure

yes, in html and such it is, maybe you could use \%20%\ as space , but I am just a webprogrammer, and not a very good one
Looks fantastic, can't wait to see this released, should be a good little utility!

Actually, in HTTP requests it's %20 w/o the percent sign at the end, and it simply means 0x20, which is hexadecimal 20 or decimal 32, which indeed is a space. I highly doubt that it would be useful in accessing the registry, though.
I don't see why a space doesn't work as just a space when accessing the registry. Perhaps escape it with a backslash (or two)?

iCaller v0.1.0.3 alpha
Simple CallerID application which extends system default Incoming Call screen with full-sized pictures, additional contact information and fully customized interface.
Currently, it is an alpha version, which means that it may contain bugs and do not work correctly on some devices. Please give me the feedback, I'll be fixing issues.
You may get it also at my new home site
Features:
- Lightweight
- Expands default incoming call screen without affecting its behavior
- Full-sized contact picture
- Pictures can be stored on a Storage Card or in Pocket Outlook database
- Picture can vary for the same contact depending on its phone number (just name the picture with a number, e.g. 5554433.jpg)
- Customized interface based on HTML (using system HTMLView control, thanks for idea goes to mrproper)
ToDo:
- Screen lock functionality
- Speed improvements
- Bugfixing
Instructions:
- Unpack contents of the archive in a folder on your device, e.g. \Program Files\iCaller (do not forget to copy zlibce.dll too!)
- Check settings.ini - it is configured for English version of Windows Mobile OS, you may need to replace sSysCallerWndTitle option from 'Phone - Incoming...' to your localized name of system default Incoming Call window
- Launch iCaller.exe
For detailed instructions refer to readme.html
Note!
Stop and restart iCaller each time you modify the settings.ini file!
Thanks will test with manila about time just a simple fullscreen caller

Haven't tested with Manila yet. Probably it will require modifying sSysCallerWndClass and sSysCallerWndTitle options in settings.ini to properly hide Manila CallerID. I'll investigate the delay issue too. Thanks for the feedback!
mmh, this is a feature that is build in s2u2 allready (runnes on any device, fullscreen), so where is the different if this is ready?
So this might only be usefull if there is really someone out there who does not use s2u2 , (maybe throttlelock users)

In fact, I've installed S2U2 and uninstalled it two days after, didn't like the weight and functional overload. So it's up to users to decide

Not to forget that iCaller works usefully on Smartphones whereas I, for one, have never gotten anything working with S2U2 on a Smartphone. Plus it's lightweight and since you're using the HTMLViewer that means it's also pretty configurable.
I've got a few ideas myself on themes for it...!

I assume you can put this in the startup drawer/folder or put a .lnk to it there to start this everytime the phone starts?

You say its customizable with graphics..Is this a whole skin/theme ability or just replacing already existing files ?
And is it possible to have gfx for tapped state as well ? And transparent PNG files ?
If so, I would be really interested in skinning it (once its stable and fast ^^).
And, maybe I get this wrong but what do you mean by "screen lock functionality" ?? Sounds like S2U2
regards,
Martin
mmh, its lightwight, of course because it has not much functions, so wait two weeks and we will see because it seems that there is a lock function coming too
The other thing is that you need this and a screenlocker application and a volume control application and and and. with s2u2 you can disable parts of programm. Just my thoughts about another calleer iD.
But maybe usefull for non touch devices or other lockers, as i said.
hey Schmidler, Oesterreich gehoert wieder zu Deutschland *kleiner Spass aus Bayern
Running it on ATT Tilt, stock 6.1 rom, with HTC Home Plugin. Works great so far. I like the HTML layout, it can be customized quite easily.
I have been looking for something like this for a while now, I'll test some more and report back.
yes, S2U2 already got a lot of functionality, but its true that it´s memory intesive.

огромное спасибо!
Going to try on my wizard to see how it works. hopefuly it will rescale my outlook contact photos to something more reasonable.
edit:
Here is a smaller picture for the no caller id.
it is saved as a 2color png in 8bits
weighs less than a kb as oposed to the 7kb in the one you posted.
(This should make a lot the difference with speed as well)

I think that the big difference is that it is so lightweight.
You can have as many pictures as you want for your people on storage card without making PIMVOL as huge as mine (1.5mb) and only for few contacts!
can you immagine if I had pictures for ALL of my 200+ contacts??? that would probably add up to 5mb!
Hi Burt,
Installed on my HTC Touch on program files , but still getting the small screen with the picture on the background.
How do i get rid of the small old screen showing the number & get only the new full screen.
thx.
here is what happened on my wizard:
installed ran testcalled from a friends phone.
at the top of the screen I got 3 pictures (same ones from my outlook. under it the blue screen. under that the standard windows mobile bubble.
I think that there needs to be some kind of a scaling engine for outlook photos. at least double size. and the background needs to change from the scarry blue to a black or very dark grey.
looking forward to an update. thanks for trying to tackle a problem that many cant seem to care about

First Impressions
I just discovered this app and thought I'd leave my first impressions. Here goes...
At first go it's just what I've been looking for: a simple checklist app. It seems to be just that. I wouldn't say it's immediately intuitive, but with some messing around I picked up the basic routine. As with all things, with a little more playing around it will become 2nd nature. You should be aware, however, that the screen doesn't render properly in landscape (my phone is a TP2 [WVGA] see details in sig). As such, I couldn't confirm compatibility with the hard keyboard on my device.
Also, something to consider for future development, would be a way to create a link for a specific list that can be placed in one's calendar/appt editor. This probably takes away from the simplicity aspect, but that would be really slick!
I'll play with it some more throughout the week, but for simplicity's sake I like what you've put together -- at least on 1st impressions. Thanks for sharing!
thank you very much for your comments

May I leave some friendly feedback?
(I'm going to assume you said "yes"...)
First of all, allow me to repeat that this is a great little app. Simple and useful. Further, you have shared it with us freely, and I'm the first to acknowledge "beggars can't be choosy." With this in mind, I offer the following...
The boot time is too slow. One would think that given how light-weight this app is, it should load much like an immediate toggle on/toggle off application. While you're deserving of the credit appearing in your 'welcome'/'boot' screen, perhaps eliminating this feature would speed the load time? Even if it would not speed the load, I would like to see the Category menu straight away without an extra screen to pass through.
Second, it would be nice if Categories, and not just Items, could be saved to the vault. (Am I missing something?) It would be nice to create a simple template to the vault, then be able to copy a version to the active menu which could be applied as needed. Make sense?
Lastly, would it be possible to move the command bar down a centimeter or so? That way 4 full Category/Item panels could be visible w/o having to scroll up/down. I understand it's placed to accommodate ergonomic thumb usage, but to see 4 full Item panels, as opposed to 3 1/2, would be worth the slight stretch...
I'm really looking forward to a WVGA version as I'll be able to use the keyboard on my TP2, which would make this even MORE useful!
Once again, many thanks!!!
p.s. - There's also a couple of spelling errors in the menu guides. 'Aproove' comes to mind right off. ('Approve' is correct) However, your English is far superior to my Greek, so I have no room to criticize...

The boot time is extremely slow... Its not my fault... This programming language is slow (even a "Hello world" takes 3-4 secs to load)
In the new version you have the option to disable the splash screen

...not bad, I'm also think about this topic...but, keep in mind the important issue: "small and easy".
I think, these is the most benefit from this app, so any new features should be aware of this point before added.
(MASPWARE Checklist, as example, looks nice, but you could be very easily lost in categories and items in up to 4 stages of deep)
But you're right, there are some improvents possible - let's see, what others will say and give Dadi68 a chance to enjoy the summer before making a version 3.0...

Yes, a category full of items: a template. For example, a simple agenda template...
A template of the user's own design could be kept in the vault. In my case, there are occasions when I don't need to use a full appointment editor; I just need to keep a running list of contacts and times for any given day. Instead of retyping the time increments over and over, a blank agenda is always at the ready!
Although, this brings up another issue for me:
Whenever I attempt to edit one of the time slots on my agenda template, I get the warning seen in the pic above. I have the current-most NETCF v35 on my device, in addition to the NET CF v35 Messages.EN.wm .cab: am I missing anything? If I click 'yes' I'm able to continue and add a contact to a time slot, but the error message repeats with each edit.
Looking for ward to watching your app evolve -- Thanks!

Yes, of course. I would be happy to. Check your PMs and I'll attach a Word document with a complete list. Although, from what I've observed there are only a few minor things...
Currently i use the SBSH calender wich supports custom category icons. With thoose i can see what going on the whole month on one page.
Are there other calenders that support something like this?

try thumb cal available in the windows marketplace. they have a trial version.
From the screenshots it has only colored triangles and circles...thats not sufficient..
The only calendar app which has text on VGA devices is Developer One Software's "Agenda Fusion" v8.70. It is a text option on the month view, but you can alternatively choose icons and time bars. I have used Agenda Fusion for some years. Since version 8 this has been an option. I don't think the simpler "Agenda One" product has this option.
Ok thanks, i will check that one out. SBSH doenst support text but i just created my icons with the texts, so i kind of cheated there.

There should be a trial download of Agenda Fusion, so that you can see if you like it. Please remember that this program should be installed to main memory NOT the storage card. It will appear to work fully, but some functions will not. I cannot remember which, but I had to contact their support and they confirmed that it is best to install to main memory. It takes under 5Mb so it is no problem. Just warning you!
Pocket Informant has all of these functions. A very useful small text month view. And the developer just made it free for WM6.5 - he's pulled out of WM6xx.
I don't use any of the "SuperPIMs" anymore because of startup lag which all of them have - I need to be able to look up or enter tasks and meetings quickly on the fly - but PI is by far the best of them, IMHO.
good work keep up
I just installed PocketInformat. What i allready like is that its fast. And i found the icons, i can even creat presets for my events i have every month.
Great program..i wish i would have had this sooner.
I have a new Sprint Touch Pro 2 with 6.5 and 2.5, stock ROM. The Today screen works. However, as a smart phone, it really isn't usable as-is. There is a total of 9 quicklinks, and the start menu is a mess. If you move things in the start menu, you break the quicklinks, so best to leave things where they land. Whatever it is that works to organize the interface needs to show unread e-mails, voice mails, and texts on the home/today screen, and a link to contacts, not that lame people thing. I get around this with the stock interface by dropping people out of the slider and pointing one of the top quicklinks to contacts. When I click on a new text message from the slider, it's pretty clumsey if you ask me. I have to look around for delete all etc. Lots of mouse clicks. I've been looking around at the likely suspects and would value your input.
Edit:
1. SPB Mobile Shell 3.5: I installed it for the third time and worked with it. My impression is that it is more about personalization and special effects. My impression is the pieces are not logically woven together to create an environment. First there is the home tab, with exactly 3 home pages, one left, and one right. There are a collection widgets that I can put on them. Second, there is a launcher. The Launcher has some impressive graphics for launching things. However, is seems to represent their concept of organizing the Start Menu into folders. You can see them if you click on the Start Menu. To me, it was confusing. The third area is the Carousel. It is very nice idea for organizing things, but it's pretty much pre-defined. I won't be coming back here because it doesn't match my needs or organizing the many apps the way I want to. It's easy on memory, 42%.
2. I worked with iPhoneToday, today. It has things like voicemail, e-mail, texts, etc. on a bottom row which does not scroll, so the important stuff is always visible. It's perfect for organization. You can add home screens at will and even label then on the top. You can change programs and the tabs they use. You can point them at the .exes or the shortcuts in the Start menu. You change the icon spacing and even have them scale to get more on a line. It's the easiest on RAM coming in at 39%. From an appearance standpoint, they really try. True to it's name, it closely resembles the iPhone. (Rubic's Cube) It uses the same size square icons for everything from volume, battery, etc., to e-mail, texts, etc. It just puts a number on the cube. You look around a bit to find what you want. It would look pretty good to someone who hasn't seen Sense. There are not real docs. The basics your will figure out by simply guessing. The other types of formatting are not as straightforward as CHT. The best source I've found is the wiki http://iphonetoday.wikidot.com/the-menus and to ask questions on the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633618 where people have been very responsive and helpful. Before I tried it, I just thought it was for iPhone wanabes. Not so. Unlike Sense and Mobile Shell, it is in fact a very well thought out environment when you're looking to use your phone as a single device to organize your world.
3. CHT 2.0: Sense by itself doesn't make any sense. Since people have been hammering me to try CHT, I've been following the CHT threads, 1.85 and 2.0. Normally, it makes sense to go with the newer one because that is where development would be, but my concern is the new 2.0 seems to have worn out the Cookie Monster, and he would be too worn out to support it. However, I decided to try 2.0 since the he wrote every line was gone through and made squeaky clean, and he did stick around long enough to wean the product.
Of the hundreds of posts I read, many say it's pretty resource intensive, and not so good for multi-taskers. (Like me) That makes sense, since it adds functionality to the an already pretty good size Sense UI, so that became my expectation. I started thinking that if it adds say 10%, it would make sense that things would get shaky, pretty quickly. Thus it made sense to test before and after adding CHT. The percent RAM usage came in at exactly 52%, and remained there even after using it for awhile. Since iPhoneToday can be run inside Sense, I'm doing that now. What doesn't make sense is it only requires an additional 2% of RAM.
As for multi-tasking, I'm running out of porkers to load and I'm at 72%. (See attached images) After these screen shots I added Oprah and iPhoneToday, which is a UI on top of a UI. After playing around, I was able to get it to 77%. That's more apps than a 5 person office runs at a time. It still loads things fast. Initially, I thought scrolling perhaps was degraded slightly, but later I did before and after and even that wasn't affected. Maybe I don't have to worry.
As for the CHT UI, I read the User's Manual. It's only 12 pages, and 1/3 has to do with installing it. It's simple enough to where if you read it once to understand the paradigm it uses, you won't need to refer to again. I plan to run iPhoneToday inside of Sense/CHT and organize both to see which I like the best.
Edit It was tough to choose between Cookies Home Tab 2.0, AKA CHT 2.0, and iPhoneToday. You can't lose with either because the struggle is to pick the best of the best, rather than pick your poison. iPhoneToday is light, fast, and smooth. It would win if I were a fan of the iPhone interface, but I'm not a fan of anything except functionality and efficiency. In the end I went with Cookies Home Tab 2.0 for these reasons.
- It allows me to use widgets, and place them wherever I need.
- It allows me to place quicklinks called FreeLinks anywhere
- It allows me to have levels (scroll up and down) as well as pages (scroll side to side)
- If it doesn't support what you want directly, you can indirectly. Example: Let's say you want QuickLinks on all of your pages, line the iPhone, but not on the home screen where you have your clock weather. Just make the upper rows on your home screen invisible. Lets say you want one row of QuickLinks to be the same on every page. Simply pin them.
- There is no practical limitation that I've found as to how you arrange things. I can't say that about anything else I've tried.
- Configuration is easier to understand. The book is only 12 pages, 1/3 is install, another 1/3 is common sense, and the other 1/3 tells doesn't lead you step by step, it gives you the concept of operation. Because of that, once you read it, you'll never have to refer back to the manual.
I may not have gotten any help from the thread this time around, but other threads and people here have helped me plenty. Apparently, it was my turn to give back.
Enjoy!
PS: I also played with ThrottleLauncher and the WP7 clone. It didn't make the cut because its organizational capabilities are far too limited for someone like me (IT Architect) who has lots of apps. It's more for people who's life revolves around a close group of friends, music, and social networking. This is not a problem with ThrottleLauncher itself, but rather the design of the WP7 architecture. The real phone has the same problem.
