Hi,
I have a strange problem with my Qtek 2020. Before I installed and upgraded the Qtek I have put a temporary simcard (nr 1) in the Qtek. I updated to 1.72 and everything worked very well. Also the GPRS / internet setting works fine. After a softreset the device boots up and detects the GPRS network (you briefly see the "G" in the display).
I always put a temporary simcard in the device after an upgrade so I can test everything and don't miss any calls.
After my succesfull tests I have put my own simcard (nr 2) in the phone. This simcard has exactly the same subscrition as the first. I checked this with Vodafone. But..... after a softreset the device boots up and doesn't detect the GPRS network (I don't see the "G" in the display).
I can't connect to GPRS. I haven't changed any settings, I checked them all. I installed the GPS-GPRS-Tweak but it still doesn't work....
Please help....

Just one question before I attempt to answer yours, where did you get a QTEK 202 1.72 update, there is none as far as I know... I feel u may have installed the dual band update and are in a tri band area and as such your phone radio is not working cuz its set on a different frequency!

1) did you check you have enough prepaid credit on your sim ?
2) try the sim card on a second phone;
3) call the customer service, they can verify if you are registered on network and gprs enabled.

I think he means: T-mobile 1.72 WWE.
So radio should be working ok...
Thanks for your suggestions!

Yes, I meant the 1.72 which I installed on my Qtek.

1) Yes, I have enough credit. It's no prepaid card.
2) I installed the sim in my P900 and the internet and GPRS works fine.
3) I did, but they didn't know what to do...... I am registed on the network and gprs is enabled (it works fine on other phones such as my P900).
Any other suggestion?
I now think the problem is not Qtek related but has something to do with Vodafone. The weird thing is both simcards have exactly the same subsripction and settings....
Thanks, JeDa

He probably does Panja mate.
And what he is describing is the exact same problem I am having , that I think we have discussed before, and I have flagged up in the 1.72 ROM thread.
And I never even installed the ROM, but instead, only the Extended ROm files, copied over to my device, and ran/installed.
When I power up, my XDA2 finds the network, but DOES NOT do a GPRS connectivity check to see if there is GPRS coverage.
As yet, I have still not found a solution to this problem either!
YES!!!!
Problem solved!!
What I did:
- settings
- connections
- gprs setting
- changed PAP authentication to CHAP authentication
- changed Class 8 (4R1T) to Class 10 (3R2T)
The radio was reset and now the Qtek found the gprs network!!
Back to MSN, internet etc!
Thanks,
JeDa
Worked !
Good afternoon,

Er, have you made sure this survives a reboot?
As putting it simply, ANYTHING that requires a GPRS connection, was enough for my device to find the GPRS service, and then connect. And then even if I hung up, it still had GPRS coverage then.
But as soon as a reboot, well of course it is gone again.
I'll try your suggestion and see, but I am sure I have done this before, and after a reboot, its gone again...

I hope so, cos its as hard as hell if you need or want to downgrade back again.
You should have read the posts on the board first.
Panja mate, by the way, did you ever find a way to go back to your existing ROM?
Hi !
Can anyone help me ? My IE on my PPC 2002 doesn't work properly because when I enter the web address and tap Go, nothing happends. Before when I tap go, the dialog box appears to input username and password but now it doesn't appear and doesn't connect. Connection for dialing is OK.
I always meet this problem when I install many softwares onto my PPC2002. If I do the hard reset, it can connect properly.
Thank in advance,
it seems that one of your installed s/w updates the registry keys for the defauly connection link (GSM or GPRS). Try installing them one by one after hard reset and test IE in each step

Have a look here...

Hello guys. I´m kind of new to this forum and also to the hermes mobile device. I got a TyTn and i flashed it with the Shaps 3.60 ROM
My first question, witch might be stupind enough, is what does the radio do? i´ve seen some posts about upgrading the radio version and I would like to know what exactly this thing envolves and how do I chose the best radio version to fit my device. Does it depend on the network operator, or the services I´m using?
Second question is that after installing the new Shaps ROM my TyTn gives me a warning message saying that it wasn´t able to obtain an automatic IP and to check my Connection Settings. The IP asigned is from the same class as the one from my PC. Before installing the ROM it worked, now i can´t surf on the net through ActiveSync. Besides that, how can i use my PC as a wireless server for my TyTn? my device connects with the PC but the IP class is different.
Please help

i've read that topic, but still need a recommendation for a radio update. Anyone can help me chose the best radio update? Orange carrier, Romania
hey is this application work for anyone cuz mine keeps giveing some errors that server not found?
I have exactly the same problem - something about time zones or not able to connect to the server.
so is there someone that coul help us with the settings or something to do so that the update program to work?
Windows Update isn't working here, too (got the S740 unlocked from a german store). It says exactly:
Error

As it is connected with a PC and synchronized via ActiveSync, date and time are correct. I have the misgiving, that it's perhaps not working with internet via Wifi/USB but only with GPRS (would be really dumb and unlogical)?
I would give it up - so far Windows Update never worked on any HTC device mostly because HTC did not issue any updates this way (yes, this update service is/should be provided by HTC, not by Microsoft).
What we need more now is ROM update/cooking, and for this we need HardSPL...
what's needed to get HardSPL?
A very skilled hacker (and programmer?) with deep knowledge of Windows Mobile platform, especially related to bootling process and stucture of the flash inside our beloved Rose.
After his work is done, all you need is to run a program on the device and on the computer.
The problem is, so far no hacker took our device in his hands to work in CIDunlock (HardSPL).
Cmonex is!
Yes Yes Yes - I wrote the message before reading the information about progress in that thread. I keep my fingers (and phones) crossed!
Hi there,
i am running a HTC LEO Branded by Vodafone on Win Mobile 6.5 Professional.
Rom Version 3.14.162.5 (04666) GER
Radio 2.15.50.14
I was doing a Vodafone branded Rom-update 2 days ago.
Everything was fine just one thing went bad.
Before I was doing the update, I was connected with 2 wlan-server.
one server is based at home, one is based at work.
After the update I can´t see my wlan-server at work any more.
connecting with the server at home is allright and I also can see the wlan-servers of my neighbours but I can´t see my wlan-server at work even if I´m standing right in front of it. (On our laptops we can see the server and my friends also see the server with their smartphones).
Any Idea what I can do??
I tried to connect manually - no success
I tried to delete the connection - no success
I can´t even see the wlan-server in the list.
Is there any chance to change/delete something in the registry??
I tried to solve the topic with the help of htc but they have no idea because some server can be seen......
:-((
please help me!!

The work one may be set to not show its SSID? meaning manually adding the network.
