i cooked a file, that change the following into german language:
Keyboard layout
Suggested words dictionary
Spellcheck dictionary
Symbols List
I testet it with any english rom and it works perfect for me.
And NO: Windows will still be in english.
Means,
you can use an english ROM, but everything except the menue works "german" now?

Can you give information about the rom version you used?
I tried it on the 1.34 Cingular and didn't worked. In fact none of the tips I found to change keyboard language are working till now.

Yes If I have time, I could do it for any language that I found. Mhh, maybe with a REAL changer-mode.

I could not test it with Cingular 1.31 and 1.34, because I have bootloader 1.04 and dont want to "upgrade" to 1.06...
Only the keyboard layout does not work or all of the 4 points does not work?
Seems that none of them is working.
I had the same issue when I tried to hack the registry to change the keyboard manually. it never changes.

I updated the installer (automatic installation in device) and compressed it a little bit.
Download in Top post.
This works with WM XDA Live too.
You only have to rename the "sym.txt" in "sym.0409.txt" in Windows Folder.

And so I decided to make a installer for Crossbow too.
I also renamed it "German Input" (it's a little bit clearer).

Yes, you need the "MSIMDE.DLL" (and i think MSIMDE.96.DLL) for German Soft Keyboard and a lot of registry keys.
I have found a MSIMDE.DLL in Internet (without the MSIMDE.96.DLL) and
i have test it, but it don't work for me... i hope someoe can help here.
Perhaps someone can extract this files from a WM5 ROM for testing...

querschlaeger: Could you make it for portugueses (Portugal) language instead of german? I have an German MDA Vario II with a xda live rom (WM6) in english. So I need to fix the qwertz keyboard and have T9 for portuguese language, Could you do that? Thank you

i heard that it's possible to extract the language(inside the WM5) and to put inside the WM6 vanilla,to change language, but my question is, what files exactly?

I'm ready to help and do some testing too
got two french Hermes devices with AZERTY keyboard
one running WMXL v0.10 ROM, one running 'original' french Vodaphone ROM
I tried the registry tweaks explained in the Wiki
to switch my keyboard layout to french/AZERTY
it worked with every WM5 ROM but not with WM6...

Hi, I have an Orange UK HTC Touch Dual with 16 keypad.
I want to flash with the NetrunnerAT Portuguese Rom:
RUU_Nike_HTC_PTG_1.31.410.09_Radio_Nike_1.58.16.27_signed_Ship
There's any problem because almost all nikes are 20 keypad?
Please help me before I begin flashing rom and installing hard spl...
anyone can help me please? I dont know if there's any difference because the keypad...
The only thing I know is that normally it doesn't matter which version keypad you have.
But there is an issue with this portuguese rom that XT9 for Portuguese isn't working with the hardware keypad. There is a work around but that one is only working for the 20 keys version.

So, there's not a Portuguese Rom that XT9 Portuguese is working?
I instaled the PTG Tom_Codon's rom in my 16 keys niki and the XT9 isnt working.
It only writes numbers, no letters at all.
Im still trying to find the PTG XT9 for the niki, if anyone have found it, just let me know.
Im having the same problem with my Neon. I installed Seths Diamond v2 and i cant text. Every key goes straight to number. No xt9. I'm using a English ROM tho. Maybe some extra files we need downloading?
Before i have same problem with chinese rom, can't input text...
Problem was solved by extracting xt9 dll's and reg's from another rom.

You wouldnt mind explaining to me would you?! This is a thorn in my side lol
1) I have downloaded cab file for Niki (20key version), thats included all required files for xt9. I found it on this site
2) I have extract all files from cab by SkTools, except key mapping files (Because it's 20key version cab, not 16). And have do the same operation for registry.
3) Next step is just move it to \windows folder and accept .reg files
4) After i have installed xt9 pack with russian language (because i'm russian)
and after SR xt9 start working
P.S. Now i use WWE rom without this problem for a long time, so i can't clearly remember what i have to do
With this .cab you can have your Vario IV (German Touch Pro) running with any rom while still keeping a QWERZ and fully functional German Hardware keyboard.
I had this fix for my Kaiser, but it works perfectly fine on the Vario IV!

i installed your CAB abot 2 hours ago ... i am german , and use ROMeOS 1.21 right now . your CAB-file is COOOOOL !!!! it works great for me , and i am happy to switch the QWERTY keyboard to my german QWERTZ so easily ... and just needed to soft-reset after installing the cab .

Nice tool! But i still miss the € and ß key and our great "umlauts"(äöüÖÄÜ). The @-key is working..
FN + e = €
FN + u = ü
FN + a = ä
FN + o = ö
FN + s = ß
I am using the latest WWE ROMeOS on my touch pro. Keyboard language is set to german (via schaps advanced config tool) and HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang is set to 1031
Any hints?

That's strange. Have you done a soft reset after changing the keyboard layout to 1031?

Hello everybody,
I just installed a WM6.5 Rom on my HTC Touch Pro...
It's working fine, except for the keyboard layout. I wanna change it to German.
Under: Settings --> Input, i chose german, but it's still not working.
And my "FN" button openes the calender...
Can anybody help ???
