JasJam with Bluetooth Headset and Voice Command - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

Hi Guys
I have a Telstra (latest ROM) JasJam and a Jabra BT5020 headset.
I have been trying to get MSVC 1.6 to work through my headset without success.
I tried the 0.9f patch which didn't help. see page 15 of-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283412
Interestingly I tried the patch with out MSVC installed and it worked to get audio to my headset but the sound was crappy and I didn't bother to keep it.
With MSVC 1.6 I used the UK version which is better for the Australian accent rather than the American one.
It worked OK but the digit dial was a pain as I couldnet get it to understand 66 which most of the local numbers start with and digit voice dial is what I most wanted.
Also getting MSVC to play music was a pain as I don't use MS Media Player to transfer and sync music. I found the music I transfered using media player would'nt paly. I just transfer direct to my sd card and it works much better, but MSVC doesn't pick up the file names I use so can't identify the album or track I want to play.
Back to MSVC and getting it to work with my BT headset. I read through the forum and tried various things without success so I have given up on MSVC for the moment. If MS issue an update I may reconsider.
I have a solution for those that are interested and want voice command through a BT headset.
I went to the Cyberon web page (Cyberon Voice speed dial v1.1 is loaded in the JasJam by default) and downloaded and installed the CSVD patch for Cyberon voice speed dial to update to v1.2 ( I don't know if this was necessary for voice command functionality but I did it anyway)
http://www.cyberon.com.tw/Technical3.php
I then downloaded and installed Cyberon Voice Commander v2 from this site
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic....=voice+command
More info
http://www.cyberon.com.tw/pro-solAG1-1.php?NO1=1
This works through my BT Headest. When I press the button on the headset it activates Cyberon Voice Commander and I can give and listen to commands and make and receive phone calls. When you press the button on the JasJam, Cyberon voice speed dial activates, so I mapped a voice tag for Voice Commander so that I can activate Voice Commander when the bluetooth headset is not being used. I did not want to map the button to Voice Commander because I wanted to keep speed dial.
Voice Commander is operated by default by pressing the button on the headset.
You need to train Cyberon Voice Commander(CVC) with your own voice for digit dial but that means that voice digit dial is much more succesful (for me ) than MSVC.
With regard to music CVC recognises the file names in my Music folder in My Documents so I can play the tracks I want that MSVC could not.
While the voice quality of the responses from CVC are not as sexy as the british MSVC respones it is still OK for me.
What is best of all, it works without stuffing around.
Interestingly when I turned off my bluetooth and turned it back on again the headset would not work. to get it back again I had to delete the partnership with the headset and soft reset and establish a new partnership to get it to work again.
I rang Imate on 1300850513 and told them my problem and they emailed me a patch "BT_Patch_3518_10.CAB" a 154kb file which I installed on my JasJam and soft reset established the partnersip and the problem is fixed. I can turn bluetooth on and off and not loose the headset.
So the long and short of it is that if you want voice command via bluetooth headset that works this is one solution.
I posted this at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283412&page=44
as well.
Regards
Deadog

Use the updated MS VC file in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336908 its the 3rd post down.
Works fine on both my Jabra headsets..

Jabra 250 & Dailling a contact without using the Headset

my friend has an xda II & he bought a Jabra 250 BT headset, he have no idea how to use it & moreover i never had BT in any of my phones so both are ignorant regarding BT, now he asked me a question, "How can i dial a contact from my Headset without the use of the phone, is their any SW i need to use?" i tiold him, i have no idea but i will forward his question to this forum, so could someone answer this question pleaaaaaase ?
the point is the right BT profile ... the headset profile doesn't work except during a phone call ... what you need is a "hands free" profile which will deal with all types of system "sounds" ... then you can use MS voice commands s/w ... however, I didn't try this myself, but in theory it should work
I have this combination. I've not checked the groups recently but from personal experience you cannot dial from the headset with the exception of a bolt-on (name escapes me) that will allow you to use the headset button to redial the last number.
I also have Microsoft voice thingy which works well but you need to initiate the call from the pda and then switch it over to the headset once connected. This little bolt on does manage the operation of the bluetooth radio and disables it to save battery after one minute. If you want to initiate a call like this then it is best to kick the bluetooth off first otherwise there is a delay before the headset links up and the person you just called is left hanging around whilst you frantically try to transfer the call to the headset!
Having said that and with all its limitations the two do work well together. One thing I did do based on various comments on this web site was to update my firmware to latest version.
Hope this helps

Headset & Handsfree Profile: which differences?

Hello everyone,
I have tried the two reg patch by Sin () to add the Handsfree profile to my Qtek 2020 (with WM2003SE). I use the very good Bluetooth headset by Globalsat BTH-808, and I have seen these things:
- When in Headset mode: the blu BT Led on the Globalsat flash one time per second. If one call incomes, an icon on the top bar light on in my Qtek and I can use the Globalsat to answer the call, or I can transfer audio back to Qtek and use it to answer the call.
- When in Handsfree mode: the blu BT Led on the Globalsat flash three time per second (awful). An icon noticing the HF Profile is ever on the top bar (with or without a call incoming, and this is not good, i think). If one call incomes, I can use at the same time the Globalsat or the Qtek (audio comes out from the Qtek and from the Globalsat).
Where is the good useful way of this? Why do I need the Handsfree profile too? to make voice dialing (adding relative software)? I didn't liked it and I disabled back the HF profile...
Can someone explain to me how the Hadsfree profile is good?
Thank's
facts
Hands free mode is great when using the right OS.
hands free is more robust. It offers caller ID, etc.
Headset will not do caller ID but I believe it may offer better battery life.
Also with your 2.02-2.06, you will notice while in hands free that the mic on the headset does not work, only the one on the phone.. Even though you can hear sound on the headset!!
If I am wrong, please tell me.
One OS that supports Hands free is the 2.20 translated or in original Chinese. But the caller ID is not consistent on some if not all devices. The caller ID will not be displayed if you have already received the call or if it is in your contacts. It also has some bugs when someone calls on the call waiting and you switch over to it, you will loose the sound on both the headset and the phone until you turn off hands free and then back on.
The other OS, 2005, is GREAT with the Hands free and the phone program, no bugs AT ALL with bluetooth and the phone, BUT, the contacts, email and calendar database are different so it will not work with many programs and the memory size is messed up and small.
I am switching back to my 2.20 translated today.
I wish someone wuld fix it.

Hmmm, no... with my device (Qtek 2020, aka XDA II/MDA II and WM2003 SE 2.06) the CallerID works great with either Headset profile and Handfree Profile...

Yes this is real: Headset is more light for battery life cause it lets BT headset to go online only during call incoming...

According to me you are wrong, cause my device have the headset mic working in either Headset and Handfree profile. The only practic difference between the two profiles are that HS goes idle and come online only during call incoming, instead HF is online not stop.

Again... with my device all works fine, but I don't like the headset all time in waiting/online modem with its led blinking speedly and the boring icon on the top bar (so if you miss a call or receive a sms, you see the baloon tooltip to advice you that more than 1 alert are waiting). I don't know about your bugs cause I never tested these cases

I am yet not happy about the WM2003SE 2.06WWE speed on booting and its stability... so I will not go further on with Magneto/WM2005... When I will be able to do, I will buy a new device with Magneto natively working...

Good flashing and have a nice weekend!
The difference between the two right now using WM2k3SE is:
Handsfree allows you to redial the last number using your BT headset (hold headset button for 2-3 secs).
Headset allows to use the BT headset to talk on the phone.
Other than that they don't do anything else with the current OS (at least for me)
tesking
I am using a Jabra BT800 and I have talked to people who are using Erickson HBH200 and HBH660 and one guy who is using an xLive. The people I have talked to using 2.02 or 2.06 or Sin's 2.02-2.06 merge, all said these devices are not having the caller ID working and the Hands Free would give them the stereo affect.
You are the first.
I have tried 2.02, 2.06 and the Sin's combined one. All would not display properly with the caller ID on my BT800. And even with the addition of the reg key, hkey local machine, software, Microsoft, Bluetooth, "HandsfreeProfileOn", I would get the caller ID, only if the number was not in my contacts and it was not already in my call history of the BT device.
I have also tried BT tools, I have tried every patch and tried all the widcomm stuff too.
I am very curious to know what you have for a ROM and any BT additions or patches and I am very interested to know what caller ID BT device you have.
Maybe you misunderstood what I was saying as well, please know that I was talking about caller ID being displayed upon the BT device, not the phone.
One other thing that Hands free does is allows for the possibility of BT activated voice dial. Like the the voicesignal program on my MPX300.
There has to be a hardware specific driver for each device so when you press the button, it transfers the audio and Mic to the BT headset and starts the voice recognition program. Other wise, we would have had BT voice dial on our HTC devices by now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15191&start=50
ccrrazzzy
I misunderstood the BT device you're using for caller ID (I don't have such device, I was talking about the phone itself).
As far as redialing using the Headset, I am using the Motorola HS850 and I was able to use it to redial the last number. However I end up turning the Handfree off when I don't need it in order to avoid the Mic issue on the headset. When I paired the headset, I chose headset profile only. When ever I need the handfree capability, I normall go under Start/Settings/Connections/Bluetooth/Devices hold my stylus on the device (HS850) then choose "Set as Hands-free" on the pop menu.

For Crrrrraaaazzzyyy:
Sorry for your device... I can tell you that with the Globalsat BTH-808 (see the ebay link below), it works smooth in headset Profile (1 or 2 seconds and I can answer from the headset button), and it works smooth in Handfree profile (but as I said, i don't like the behaviour): you can buy the headset from here

Have a nice day!
BT
Sorry I was not clearer at first. I was speaking about the caller ID on the BT headset or in a BT car audio system.
Hands free is needed to have features like caller ID on the BT device and voice dial and to be able to scroll through the BT device's caller ID history and make calls from that while leaving your cell phone safely tucked in your briefcase or hip case.
With my MPX300, because it supports BT voice dial through the BT headset, and with my caller ID on my Jabra BT800 BT headset, I can have all the power of my phone on my ear; being able to make calls through the caller ID history and through dialing via voice dial by speaking the phone number OR speaking the contacts name AND be able to see who is calling me, all while my cell phone-PDA is about 30 feet away!
I just wish we had this on the XDAII because I hate my MPX300; small screen and low memory make it useless.
Through the 2.20 OS, I am able to get caller ID functioning somewhat, but I have to disable call waiting. However to get BT voice dial to work, we will need someone to make a driver like the one that is in the MPX300 and use software like FONIX or www.voicesignal.com
Here is how we can make voicedial work on BT.

XDAII-TSM500 and Jabra BT800 incompatibility ???
I cannot use neither the microphone nor the headphone of the BT800 instead of the XDAII for listennig mp3 files or recording notes.
When I use headset mode, I can speak and hear throuhg BT800 and it is possible to use the buttons to answer and hang during a phone calling, but is not possible to dial, see the caller number and other features.
When I use handsfree mode, I can get most of features but the BT800 microphone does not work and I have to use the one of the PDA.
Any way, only it is possible to use the BT800 in phone mode, not in PDA mode. However it works perfectly whit my IPAQ.
Could anybody give me any idea ?
BT
Please read everything.
Again,
With a caller ID device like the BT800, it needs Hands Free mode to work right. 2.02 and 2.06 do not do Hands Free well.
Only 2.20 and 2005 but 2005 has other bugs. In 2.20 you must disable call waiting or live with clicking upon Tools, Hands-Free Off, then Tools, Hands-Free On to resume the sound on the BT headset when you try to switch back to the first call. You will have to do this even if you ignore a call.
2005 works VERY well with BT and the phone but there are other bugs like lack of memory and database not compatible with third party programs.
I am sorry ccrrazzzy
I did not mention I have two other poblems:
One is that I am a beginner whith these machines, less than two weeks working whith them, and some concepts are confusing to me.
The other is, my short english (obvious ?) make me misunderstand things and to explain them is even worse.
I understood that all problems appear using the phone and not using the PDA for listening mp3 files, for example. When I use the BT800 whith my IPAQ 5500 (headset only) works like a wired headphones and I thought that it should work in the same way whith the XDA, forgeting the phone features.
I will try whith 2.20.
Many thanks for your answer and excuse me.
mp3 will not work unless you get http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT420EX.htm or the HP one.
While using Headset profile, in 2.02, 2.06 and 2.20, The BT800 will work but I experienced an 8 or 9 second delay before call is transfered to the headset when someone call me. Calling out is OK.
Hands free and 2.20 is only good way with BT800.
No audio on BT headset on the XDAII, no matter what OS... Like the mono audio on your other pda, it will not work on xdaii.
I am trying the xLive now, will post results. It has built in MP3 player and is BT cell phone Hands free. Only $90.
These will not make you look like you are from outer space
http://www.itechdynamic.com/html/border22.htm
Support HiFi audio, stereo but I doubt they will work on the XDAII.
You could make them work with the widcomm stack but that stack does not work with Hands Free and I forget if it works with Headset.
If this thing had caller ID and worked for sure with the XDAII, I would get it.

Bluetooth headset and voice dialing - 50% success!!!

The good news is that I found the way to start any application on my i-mate PDA2k via bluetooth headset button. I succeed with starting Cyberon. The bad news is that voice dial still works from device microphone, not headset (despite of turning the headset on).
1. On my Plantronics 510 bluetooth headset doubleclick redials the last number. Same thing should work on many other headsets.
2. I found "suspicious" program "MakePhoneCall.exe" in \windows folder. If you give it a phone number as a command line argument it will dial this number without any questions - very usefull. But if you run it without any arguments it will... redial the last number! Exactly what we're looking for.
3. All I did was renaming Cyberon's "sddialer.exe" to "MakePhoneCall.exe" (backup original "MakePhoneCall.exe"!)
Now doubleclick on headset button starts Cyberon voice dial program. Since it has almost perfect voice recognition it works fine even in my pocket. Sure it will be better to use headset microphone but it's better than nothing!
One more bad news. Important! If you start this way any program, not dialing the number, next time doubleclick on headset will not work until you manualy dial any number from PDA. I don't know the reason.
Now, Gurus, _please_ make some sence from my discovery!!!

TyTn w/Dopod 838 Extended ROM Voice Commander Works

Don't know if this has been posted before or not.
With the Prophet and Wizard Cyberon Voice Commander would work once via BT then die because it left the audio gateway open. After installing the Dopod 838 Extended ROM on my TyTn (I wanted Voice Commander) it works properly! I can issue a call via hitting the button on my headset after the call I hit the button again and Voice Commander works answers!
Anyway thought I would share.
Thanks
Do you get all commands routed through the headset everytime? With my Nokia BT Stereo headset the first time invoking Cyberon voie dial or the full voice command from the headset I get confirmation through the headset. after that all sounds come from the phone speaker. Also what BT headset do you use?
Give me an example of what you are doing and I will try to replicate here on my end. If you are referring to Dialing a contact or number yes it does work properly
I am using the Plantronics Voyager 510S
All I'm trying so far is just to get all voice commands and confirmations through my BT headset. Pressing the voice dial key on my headset starts Voice dial/Voice command and I hear the prompt in the headset earpiece. Pressing the headset voice dial button again starts voice dial but now the voice dial prompt comes from the phone speaker. I think this may be a headset issue, not sure how Nokia has implemented the Handsfree profile.
On my Plantronics I press and hold the button the headset I hear a beep then 1sec later I hear another tone I release it I get 'Say a command' If I say Dial John Smith I get confirmation home, mobile etc after I confirm I get 'Dialing' all this is through the headset. Is this what you are asking?
Yes, that's what I don't get with my nokia. thanks for confirming that, I think I will have to search for a more compatible headset.

Yes, I know you mean the full Cyberon Voice Command. That's what I have been trying as well.
Get with the program people... your phone will work MUCH better with MS VoiceCommand than it does with the crap OEM Cyberon stuff.

Bought it don't like it, it rarely understands my voice and Cyberon Voice Commander works with my BT headset without hacking the reg, I don't need it to announce the time, appointments etc. just voice dial.

I shotgunned it and installed the entire Dopod Extended ROM since I did not know which cabs were the Voice Commander files, which ones did you reinstall?
Glad it's working for you!
The two files are:
D_CVC-PPC-WWE-606161-DopodHermes.CAB
PT_CVC_Path.sa.CAB
I didnt install the second file. You could also install this one to map the voice command button during install rather than manually going to settings
P_Button5_VCommand.CAB
I wonder why the Dopod phones always seem to come with the full version and other versions only have the Voice dialler version. At least HTC should give us the option to purchase the full program.
can I flash Dopod Cyberon Voice Commander to new ROM 1.35??
False alarm, I should have read better. THANK YOU VERY MUCH EFJAY!!!

SE HBH-DS970 bluetooth headset

Anybody using the SE HBH-DS970 bluetooth headset with the Hermes and if so what is your experience?
Thanks
i use that one waht is your wonder?
I wanted to know if everything works fine and if you are happy with the experience (sound quality, responsiveness, etc.).
I tried it briefly at a store and everything seemed to work except when I received a call I could not hear the person talking. It may just be that I needed to do a soft reset but if I know it is working with the Tytn for someone else I will buy it.
Thanks!
No Good.
1. Sound Quality is very poor even with the A2DP hack. Far from my M600i. It's much better with the original usb headset. so I guess maybe Sony Ericsson has a different A2DP encoding implement or have some tricks on the media player?
2. Only the Call Key and Volume keys work. I don't know if there any PPC music player support DS970's music keys.
1. After registry twiks the sound quality is super.. seems even better than native usb headset.. Only one problem I couldn't solve so far.. it is skipping every 40-50 sec. I am using now original rom from o2 germany. I am going to try imate rom or at least new radio rom. Let see, if it helps
2. All keys are working with native Windows Media Player.
I am using it with PocketPlayer. Works fine with every button. Sound quality is super after the hack. But I got the same problem as SWayf, music got skippy every while...
Multipoint Function with PC Headset profile?
Has anyone tried to pair this headset with a Hermes and simultaneously with a PC that supports the bluetooth headset profile so that it is possible to switch from VoIP (eg Skype) and the mobile phone easily?
Following on my previous post, I now have the headset in hand and although I can connect to my PC and phone simultaneously using the multipoint functionality, the PC connection is only for music playback, ie the microphone is disabled, so I cannot use the headset for VoIP calls. The Bluetooth Service Class is listed as "Audio Sink" rather than "Headset". I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to activate the microphone in this mode?

Really regret buying it.. Tried the A2DP tweak with the Hermes Tweaker but no luck. Better soundquality but sound keeps skipping every 30-40 seconds, useless for listening to music... I would got nuts having to listen to those skips that often..
Anyone found any tweak to get rid of the skipping problem?
Buttons works fine for controlling Tytn audio quality is ok and I love the looks of it, if I just could get rid of that skipping..
How sick is this! I found this tip on another forum.
Try installing this taskmanager, start wmp and then the task manager, close any apps you don't need to use and then set it to monitor system load.
http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/ppcstuff.htm
As long as it's running NO SKIPPING so far, have been listening to three full songs so far....
Which of you gurus can figure this one out??? So it must be possible to fix the problem by emulating what this software does??
Any updates on this?
Considering buying one, but wont if there's no fix to the skipping
I've just bought one of these headsets. God, the sound is atrocious. Can someone please fill me in on the hack that was mentioned earlier? I've got the Fit4cat ap on my Hermes but the sound is still rubbish even after adjusting the the "improve BT A2DP sound quality" setting to "excellent". Is this the hack that was referred to earlier or is there another I am not aware of??? Please, can anyone help with this. I feel I have wasted a serious amount of cash on this

This is what you need to read/download.
Hi!
Got hermes and ds970 to work (almost) perfectly
I did this, step by step:
-Hard reset hermes (got o2 xda trion with latest htc wwe rom 1.35 radio 1.18)
-installed ms voice command 1.6
-installed beta version from jetware and their hermes fix
(all files can be found here http://www.jetwaremobile.com/beta.htm don't forget to soft-reset after installation of the "code signing certificate")
-installed a2dpfix
-get HTweakC and set a2dp quality to "medium" do not set it any higher, as the sound quality will be better on medium than on e.g. "excellent"
Configure Jetware Software to show CallerID etc...
Working:
-CallerID shows name!! AND number (alternating) everytime
-A2dp quality is quite good (could be better, but definately very usable)
-Voice command quite usable (still rarely switches back to device speaker)
-very stable bluetooth connection
-remote control of windows media player
not working:
-display doesnt show song title, but i guess we'll never get that on a wm5 device...hope i'm wrong.
Wanna thank everyone on the hermes gps thread...keep up the good work!!
so you can stream media player to the headset too as well as controlling VC1.6? Does VC1.6 fire up when pressing headset button?
Hi!
When I'm listening to music, and press the headset button:
-Mediaplayer goes on pause
-after 2-3 seconds I hear the voice command ding-sound and can say my command. Then hear the lady from microsoft ;-) respond (on long responses the sound sometimes switches back to the device speaker such as when the lady asks me what number-entry to dial and there are 5 numbers in the contact.)
-then switches back to playing mediaplayer for about 2 seconds until the phone initiates the call and then pauses mediaplayer again and switches the headset to the call.
-after the call sound again goes to a2dp and the song resumes playing.
Hope it stays that way...I'll be very very carefull what programs I install.
programs I got installed at this point are:
spb diary
prssreader
navigon mobile navigator 5
google maps (the new not java one)
wakeitup
pocketstreets 2005
tcpmp
clearvue pdf
spb gprs monitor
totalcommander
+the ones mentioned in my post above
(all programs, if not mentioned otherwise, are the latest versions)
oh BTW I tried setting a2dp quality to "low". I can't hear the difference to "medium" and think it will be less stress on the cpu.
what does not work, is also that the announciation of new messages from voice command 1.6 when set to "announce only over bluetooth" still come out of the device speaker.
Hope it works for you, too.
excellent. i'll try these settings. thanks for detailed message
got myself a ds970 and followed your instructions Brevi. music streams brilliantly but i can't transfer calls to the headset, make calls from the headset nor can i get VC1.6 to fire up when i press the headset button. if i start VC1.6 on phone, then i can say command on the headset and that works.
Do you install the JetDial app?
What settings did you configure in the Jetware settings?
any ideas?
i have the "new" btagext.dll which fixed VC1.5 and mono headset - do you think that's the issue?
Update: Aha, i uninstalled the JetDial app (stupid or what) and now everything works except starting VC1.6 using the headset button. i suspect, JetDial has left some reg keys that need removing. No idea what though
Hi! Yeah, you probably need to do a hard-reset to get a clean install of all the little "helpers". I'm confident it will work then.
Tell me if you get the "play reminders only over bluetooth handsfree" option in vc1.6 to work maybe with the btagext.dll. I'm away from my main computer for a couple of days and unfortunately can't mess with my phone till I get back.
