I'm talking about device drivers dude, like for the keyboard and stuff that are in the ROM...
funny thing is that i saw the touch in person today... and i already have most of what the touch has... lol.. oh well..
Yeash, but what we don't have that the touch has is 65Mb of Free RAM when you boot!
is anyone working on a touch rom with the cube for the mogul?
video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqfeO7RAKOE
Im getting my mogul today...sometimes i think i should have gotten a Touch...however the keypad is what sold me for the Mogul. Ill try the touchflo once i get the mogul.
So is the "Touch" LCD different from the one on the Mogul, thus making the screen on the "Touch" more responsive?
How is Texting on the Touch?
I Need That Touch Program On My Phone Can Someone Help Me Please!!!

Actually it is more like 69-71Mb on boot. It slowly drops down to like 65Mb free after about a day opening and closing applications. My battery actually dies before the memory leak gets so bad that it actually slows down my phone.
I really wish there was a way to get a RAM upgrade for you guys. Everyone should have this kind of memory on their phone.

I got my Touch Dual earlier today and am discovering it bit by bit...
I've already made a few hardware observations which I've posted in another thread and will hopefully merge into this one.
Seven hours into the Touch Dual, one thing that still puzzles me is the ROM. Putting aside the lightning fast speed and the brilliant quality of the actual hardware (casing), there are some tiny itsy little bits that have not been extracted and included in the ROMs that simulate the Dual for the regular Touch- until now [correct me if I'm wrong] I have discovered the different graphical representation of the call lists (Missed, Dialed, Received) and the large buttons to make it finger-friendly.
Other things that still puzzle me are the following:
1. The Touch Dual has only four tabs on HTC Home (Home, Weather, Launcher, Profiles) - until yesterday I was using the 6-tab Home plug on my regular Touch and I always assumed it came from the Touch Dual. A friend of mine has the Kaiser and that doesn't come with the 6 tabs so I'm wondering where it comes from
2. Network Plugin. Again, I have been using this feature for a while and assumed it was extracted from the Touch Dual but it's not on my Dual.
3. The HTC (busy) animation. Where does this come from? I was using this on my Touch (I installed it) and I was expecting to find it on my Dual but the Dual has the regular vista-like busy animation and I had to install the HTC animation myself
I will add more as I discover the device more and anybody please correct me wherever I may be wrong. I am still learning the Dual!
how much did you get it?
i remember it was about 2700 dirhams in one big electronic store in Deira.

6 tab homeplug came with the ELF you had it from the day you got your Touch... all images were there just not activated.
the reason why there are only 4 tabs .. is because it has the Cube and the cube has a Quick dialer and a Mediaplayer so there is no need for these to be in the home plug too.

gullum,
you mean to say that all this time we never needed to download any of the updated Home plug cabs or HTC Home Customiser and all it needed was a simple registry edit??? I was using my regular Touch until this morning when I got the Dual and had always wished I could get the tabs to appear without having to install anything.

I presume if its there its on comm 4.
could anyone test this for me ?...before i go order one.
Thanks

Yeah its the same with the s730 smartphone...not actually in the specs but present in hardware.
Installing google maps and setting comm 4 found the GPS and signal.

Ahh so theres possibly somthing in there

My brand new mogul is having issues and Sprint is replacing. However they told me they couldn't ship me a PPC 6800 for some reason but they would upgrade me to PPC 6900 for free. I thought sweet, right? Then looked it up I realized it was the touch. My question is, is this really an upgrade? Should I be upset? The touch looks cool but no keyboard....
Should I try and complain?
Also, I unlocked my phone to use the new roms. Should I relock it or shouldn't it really matter. I will just flash back to the sprint rom.
Thanks
I wouldn't accept a Touch as an "upgrade" to the Mogul. Do you have any Sprint stores around you (the Authorized resellers, not just the ones that sell Sprint stuff)? If so, take your phone in to them and see if they can swap for you. I know from experience that pretty much every store I go into gives me a slightly different story, so chances are the store would tell you something different than Sprint Customer Support on the phone.
Definitely put a stock rom back on. Relocking would probably be a good idea too, but not as big an issue.
the touch is deffinetly not an upgrade to the mogul, other than the 128mb of ram, however i'd rather have the wifi and keyboard on the mogul, than 128mb of ram and no wifi/keyboard on the touch

im getting a touch im sick of my huge titan i dont need a keyborad or wifi i like the touch and the way it looks and the ram
The more I read about it the better it looks. If I don't like it I will complain and see what happens. I really don't care about wifi cause how often do you really use it. I do care about the GPS and it should be unlocked shortly with the next update. I really like the RAM though. My mogul always ran low on memory. But we will see. I should have it in the morning.........
I would say it's a case of personal preference, but I certainly wouldn't call it an upgrade...even with the smaller amount of RAM, I personally would take the Mogul over the Touch any day.
And DEFINITELY flash the stock ROM back on to it!
HI. kinda new here..
you guys are so amazing the way you do these software.. so gooood..
i bought a new MDA Touch plus. was working great but was missing the TouchFlo Cube in it.. tried installing the cab which was available here but it gives a permission error when installing (at around 80% completed) to be precise it says something like "this doesnt have permision to install this program"... like...so i thought it is something wrong with the Rom and i flashed with Mary 0.3.
hmm sad to say i'm not quite happy comparing to the T-mobile rom. PLUS still i cannot install touchflo cube, it gives the same error message.
now i've lost my t-mobile rom plus touchflo cube. can anybody suggest me a good rom which will support touchflo?
or i dont even mind getting back to old t-mobile rom.
my Wife has the same modal but still with the t-mobile rom. any possibility i can copy that ROM??
Gosh this sounds like a life story.. heheh.. sorry guyss..
hi.
got the mda touch plus too, and it worked fine from the first try, even with the original mda rom!! maybe somethingĀ“s wrong with yours...
by the way: every rom has touch flo i think only the ones who say its removed dont, but usally it is there
really??
i have touchflo but not the cube.. hm.. wiered..
OH MY GOD!!
touchflo cube has been there all this time.. i only havent known to open it. i cant believe this.. but only the 3 sided cube.. i'm gonna try the 6 side one right away..

hey guys, im getting my touch pro the moment it releases for alltel on the 22nd and i was wondering what ROM i can use that will make the phone run as fast as possible... im even ok with an os that gets rid of the touch flo 3d stuff... (i sort of prefer my htc 6800's os anyways).

how do you know its the 22nd for alltel? i havent kept too up to date on it recently, but i was still under the impression there was no release date...
anyways, touchflo3d is basically just big a today plugin. so if you dont want it all you do is disable it. the OS is the same as you have on your 6800, just maybe a different build number. touchflo3d does not make your OS any different though, its just an interface.
Well first of all, 3 days ago every single alltel store in the us received boxes of Touch Pro accessories, go look on the walls and see for yourself. =P. Also thats what the tech at the store told me.

alltel version of touch - wifi removed?
ok, now i am confused, can someone else confirm this? I spoke to alltel customer service lady, who said wi-fi was not on the alltel touch pro.
I know it is on the sprint version.
thanks
I got my TouchPro from Alltel yesterday. I can confirm that Wi-Fi is on the device and is accessible through comm manager.
I enabled it and hooked up to my work network, which is WPA protected, with no problems at all.

Well, since your positive it is on the phone, i will go ahead and order it. Thanks for your help.
So . . . . getting back to the original question - what ROM should we Alltel folks be using? Thanks all.
guys can you confirm your RAM/ROM on your Alltel device.
i know the Verizon Pro got shorted quite a bit on memory and wanted to know what was installed. Alltel's site, as normal, includes no detailed specs.
Overall...do you like the device..would you recommend. I'm probably ordering mine tomorrow.
thanks
Jason
My Alltel TP shows:
Storage: 330.76 MB
Program: 203.24 MB
My only gripe is battery life. Of course, my 6800 sucked juice like crazy when I first got it too. Hopefully between tweaks & ROM & Radio updates it will start lasting longer.

i have an acquaintance who is an Alltel engineer and he acted like he didnt like it much. said it was really gimmicky. didnt like the touch flo at all.
anyways..i guess im ordering tomorrow. im sure it will be Alltel's Flagship device for at least a year.
thanks
Will the cooked Verizon ROMs work with the Alltel Touch Pro? Thanks.

You on 8107? Did you start out with a Fresh Install? Any apps that might cause this?
Probably Digitizer issue... If you got warranty with AT&T/UK/whoever replace it

Fresh Install as In... A Factory Reset.... Like its better to start out with a clean slate then to start using a phone that was already being used and had some caches/apps loaded onto it...
Its best to ruled out any software issues before blaming Hardware (replacement)
And the digitizer is definitely not faulty.

Basically if its lagging it would be software related... There's a delay from when you do something to when WP7 responses to it... I would suggest backing Up and doing a Factory Reset and see if it makes a difference.
Did you load up the phone with stuff? Supposedly there's an issue with AT&T models that lag when low in memory even if you don't have that model it could be related

if it's an ATT model, I won't be surprised. Plenty of issues heard in the past with earlier batches too.
Make sure your thumb is not touching the sides as the screen comes so close to the sides that i was touching it and not knowing it, which made it appear to lag or not press numbers to unlock and such. The easy fix for it was to get a hard rubber case which raised my thumbs up so they wouldn't brush the screen edges when typing.

I press the screen straight on with my fingers. Anyway, I might just be overreacting here but it definately feels like the touch is a liiiiiittle after, delayed or whatever you wanna call it.

Looking at your video it seems perfectly normal to me, None of my WP7 devices have ever been any better than your Titan, (2xHD7 and a Titan) Maybe it's just a case of getting over your last phone and adapting to the way Windows Phone works, Took me ages after win Mo 6.5

I found this thread as well: http://forums.wpcentral.com/phone-wars/184480.htm
I have both an Omnia 7 and a Titan and one thing i noticed on the Titan is that if I don't hold the phone with one hand and use the other for touch the screen lags and failes to register the finger at times. On the Omnia 7 I don't have this problem. The Titan might be worse either way but it's a huge difference when not holding the phone on my Titan atleast
It's easy to reproduce in some games... I get missed swipes (fruit ninja) or birds that fly when I am still trying to get the perfect angle (angry birds).
I was hoping for a firmware to fix this but didn't know if anyone else have a problem so havent bothered reporting it to HTC. I guess if we don't the wont know it's a problem?

Its got nothing to do with the OS if someone is wondering that! this is an HTC thing, evry phone from HTC have this, its just thay are not as responsiv as a Samsung phone or an IPhone, just look at HTC phone with Android its the same slow respons. if im not worng, this is an Screen issue, i mean an HTC issue HTC use on there phones.
