Hi All,
My Prophet just died...
I made a RadioROM upgrade and after a reboot I did an IPL upgrade. I did a soft reset and now it doesn't want to turn on. I'm really confused what did I make wrong and how can I redo it.
I'm looking forward to a helpful info.
Thanks
Does your screen stay black or does it display anything? Can you enter bootloader? And why would you want to upgrade your IPL???
My screen is dark black, I can not even turn it on. I doesn't matter what sort of switch I press on the dev. So I can't see the bootloader and I think it's a serious problem...
After the IPL upgrade the reboot was succesful and on the startup screen it says IPL 2.20.0001 and worked for a while.
I've changed my local settings, which reqiures a soft reset, so I did it. After this, no aswer...
I'm very dissapointed because of the pda and your help dear all...
Is your battery dead? Try it with your charger.
No, my battery was fully charged before I ran into this major problem...
I had a similar issues which was misteriously resolved after a few plug ins and battery removals. I also let the battery completely drain and removed it from phone for a few hours. It worked when connected to wall charger but not with battery. It seemed like interior phone battery was dead. One day I connected it to the wall charger and the battery status when from zero to 98% and it stayed there. Really weird stuff. I ordered another battery and so far so good. One of the batteries did die and i discarded it, but I still use the other old battery plus I have a new spair.
Yamilrx, thanks the info...
I'll try it, but I've lost my faith in this device. It's in clinical dead state for 2 days from now, and it looks like doesn't want to wake up or alive.
This is a very misteroius issue.
I don't understand it, if I upgraded wrongly somebody tell me, why was the device started after? And if it was a wrong update, how can I turn it on and make calls, etc. and after a soft reset it DOESN'T reply for anything?!
I bought it almost 2 years ago, so I assume the battery could cause similar problem. But it was almost fully charged. The Star Wars was less incredible then this thing...
Except this, I'll accept your advice. I'm going to try it.
try the following, as your device is dead and curently noy useable.
-remove the battery for a day and just leave it there
- put in the battery and connect the charger
- hold your camera button while turning the device on
do you get into the 3 colored screen? if so, the device can now be downgraded etc.
particular reason why you have not tried a HARD reset?

Thanks, I'll try it first after go to a shop and buy a battery.
Anyway, when I mentioned I've tried all the combinations of the buttons, I meant i did a hard reset too. But my Spleeping Beauty is still doing the same...
The problem hasn't been solved by the solutions you have mentioned before, so I've called the HTC technical support, they were very friendly - they must be because I'll pay for it - and 2 days from now they will tell me how much does it costs or it is repairable or not...
Thanks for your help.

I did that with mine to see if it would reset device once the internal battery is totally discharged. Like I said earlier, mine came back to live. Make sure you install the WM 5 rom used for downgrading and don't try any of the WM 6 roms until the device is fully functional with wm5. The batteries are $8 on ebay but they take 1 week to get here from Hong Kong.
If winter comes, can sping be far away?
Hi All,
The service technician examined my Prophet and he said, I have to change a mainboard. Have you ever run into this kind of problem? If I want a repair, it'd cost me 300 Euro!!
Luckily I still have a warranty, so I hope I don't have to pay for the service.
Take care your Prophet...

Hello XDA-Users....
I've got a little problem with my xda-device.
It's just doing not much. If i attach the device to the cradle. The system turned on and is beginning to start the ROM (I see the T-Mobile screen). I-ve got the hint that the installed ROM is 3.13. Radiostack and Protocol is empty. -> should be then GSM-Error in the bootloader.
After all this messages i've got an short "pling" (beep) of the device, and it all begins from starting....
I can not enter bootloader (nothing happens) and the battery won't be charged..... (There is no light)
I've checked already the fuse of the device. Looks good. What else do i have for possibilities to get the device working again? That the GSM-Part does not work is not important. I need the device just for testing and installing new software to include in the kitchen. So the phone function is not needed.
The battery semms to work, I still got some Volt if i check it with the multimeter.
Anyone have some tips for me?
Stefan
Have you looked at the connector on the base of the xda under magnification, it may be a bent pin on that or on the cradle that is preventing charging.
Connector looks good.
If i conect it, the device is getting power.
When i disconnect the cable / cradle the device stops doing anything and goes off.
If i do an hard reset with connected USB-cable, nothing happens.
If i try enter bootloader the display is flashing until i refuse the power button. Than endless "booting" starts again...
Stefan
It does sound like a low power situation, I think the gsm will not switch in unless there is sufficient power. If you need a battery I have one here that was removed from an xda a few months ago but should be fine, send me your address if you need it and I will give it to you.
That previous post was from me. Also have you checked that you dont have a stuck button.?
The buttons looks fine. tested them already. So that isn't the fault *damn*
If you can send me the battery, that would be very nice.
Maybe it's really the probelm. But i think, if the battery is in bad condition, there should be anway going a light on to show "going to load tthe battery".....

If a hard reset doesn't solve the problem, then try this.
DO A FULL BACKUP FIRST!!!
Open the XDA, and remove the battery
(together with whatever circuit is attached)
Put the battery in the freezer for about 20 minutes.
Remove it, and reinstall it.
Now put it back in the cradle and it should charge.
Then to a restpore from the backup.
This just happened to me and it brought my XDA back to life.
A chemical process happens to rechargeable batteries that
prevents them from receiving a charge. Apparently freezing
the battery for a very short time (20 minutes) corrects this.
Try this at your own risk, but I did it to my only XDA and it is working fine
for about a week now. Otherwise I would have had to scrap my XDA.
Let me know how it works for you.

Sorry to hear it didn't work.
Its been over a week and mine seems to be holding up.
I'd have to guess you battery is completely dead.
i have the same problem
you seem to be having the same problem as me m8 do you have no radio
or information on the radio task bar.
my unit keeps on re-starting the same as yours and i cant access setup even after hard reset. i attempt to charge the unit and the pwr light comes on briefly then goes out after approx 10 secs the unit then starts itself up and as mentioned before turns itself on and off randomly.
(i have no software for this unit just the unit and charger no memory card)
i am new to pda's do i need any softwares if i get it working?
any feedback appreciated

WBR.
Come on guys
Someone must know how to sort this out??
can it be fixed?
its in warrenty, but not sure if they would be able to tell what i have done
Have you tried just flashing the ROM again?
Can you still enter the bootloader ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Athena_Resets
Cant see the phone
hi, i cant re-rflash as when i connect to the pc, it does not see it,
thinking the only way im going to get this sorted out is to return it to t-mobile, just hope it would still be under warrenty, anyway i could cover it,
maybe a magnet stuck to it for a few days might help when they check it over??
thanks
just tried hard reset and bootloader reset again, with batter in, charger in, just charger ect
still no rwesponse
just red ring of dead around joystick, when using charger only
Try this, exactly:
- disconnect any cable;
- remove the battery;
- the SIM;
- wait 10 seconds;
- put the battery back;
- enter bootloader (camera button - pressed down all the way - with comm. manager + reset).
If you don't get the bootloader screen (with various color stripes on the screen), then yes, your Athena's unfortunately bricked.
Nooooooooooooooo
nothing at all mate,
but i guess the battery could be flat,
is there no way to get it to power up,
do you think i could send it away under warrenty?

Anyone near you that can lend you a fully charged battery? Alternatively buy a cheap spare battery.
@onkyojonny
Where are you located?
im near ashford in east sussex, and work in london, if someone can sort it out im happy to make a donation ;-)
thanks
Concerning the return, if you're not able to enter even bootloader mode, all that will be left is to return it, but it's indeed true that if they see your SPL's modified, for instance, they might send it back to you with a "sorry" note. :-S
is there noone on this forum that can sort it out??
rather that than send it back,
Bootloader's the absolute minimum that you need to recover from apparent bricking. If you don't, then I don't know of any "software" mean to rescue your Athena, alas.

Hi
I just had this happen to me, but for completely different reasons. I left my Athena on charge for an hour when the battery was at 10%. It then showed 60%. I then wanted to check that my spare battery had some charge, so I swapped battery and got into exactly the same situation that you have, red light on charger and nothing on either battery.
After reading this forum I tried procedure of taking everything out inc. SIM and leaving it for a minute, still no joy on the 1st battery. Left it again for a minute and tried the 2nd battery and it came to life instantly and booted. The 2nd battery reports 100% charge.
I would suggest that you buy / borrow a battery and try it. It is highly frustrating that you can't use the Athena mains only & swap batteries, but you can't, I tried. If you order a battery (I got one for £11, it is a Cameron Sino which have a bad reputation but it lasts all day, can't argue with that) you should get it tomorrow in the post.
I will see if now that it is working the OEM battery works. It may be that it has not charged properly.
Hope you get it working again.

Follow up, yes it worked when I put the OEM battery back in, still with the SIM out. I have now put the SIM back in and the 2nd battery & all OK. Very unscientifically I would say that taking everything out & using a fresh battery seems to have fixed mine.
yes, one of my (aftermarket) batteries produced the same symptoms just yesterday. it was in a near fully discharged state (< 5%)... so i wanted to put it in the athena and charge it. but athena would not turn on, just the red light. charging did not make a difference.
put the other battery back that was in it previously, it booted instantly, then i put the discharged one in and it still booted and then i was able to charge it up.
note: at other cases i can still boot the athena with such a discharged battery, they have enough juice in them, apparently the problem was something else.
...though i have a desktop charger for the thing.. just didn't feel like trying to dig it up. anyway here is a cheap battery AND desktop charger: http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-Charger...hZ010QQcategoryZ20350QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
the charger should charge your battery up without having to buy a new battery (except the seller gives you one as a bonus) and hope it has enough charge in it. might help someone hopefully

Not a rip off on postage either - bargain, so just ordered one as a spare.
Thanks for the heads up.
Before anyone jumps on me, I've been going through the Wiki and forums extensively, and found just one similar problem. Which wasn't solved...
My HTC TyTN/Hermes 200 won't boot up anymore. It is totally dead. I even can't get it into bootloader mode. Screen stays blank and the LED is off.
Put the (3 months old) battery in another Hermes to test it, and it's at 100% charge.
My Hermes shows a steady red LED when it's plugged into power without the battery in, and no LED at all when the battery is installed. The red LED turns off when the battery is installed while there's power going into the unit.
I've left the battery out for at least an hour, plugged it back in, same results. Like the other guy I tried the "pull power, pull battery, plug in power, plug in battery, reset" trick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286469&p=1077622 - to no avail.
Does anyone have any last resort ideas on how to get it to at least come back up to a boot loader screen ?

In the past few days I have received some email messages with well-meant tips and tricks , which I already had tried myself. Nothing worked however ... The damn thing is totally dead .
I have obtained another (2nd hand) Hermes 200 in the meantime, in perfect condition and at a fair price, so I am back in the Hermes business again.
I will use the old one for parts, should I ever need them.
Sorry I could not help.
MfG
I am waiting for my Treo 750 without camera to arrive from USA which I ordered
in wise foresight.
I will probably buy a used Hermes with broken display and switch the boards and
use that one as replacement.
Thanks anyways...but what I find strange is that so many Tytns die at the same
time and this more often for the Tytn II generation.
Have a nice weekend!
Cheers
Yes; I flashed the ROM on my XV6800 (Verizon's Titan) to DCD 3.2.6, Radio 3.42.50 and ran the Verizon cab. The phone was mostly running fine for a few days (except for a few "normal" WM freezes).
Then my phone's battery recharging mechanism went crazy (as per this post). Until one morning I found that the phone wouldn't start anymore...
Removing the battery didn't wake it up. Soft- and hard-resets don't do anything. I even bought a new battery, hoping that it's just a battery issue or some mini-USB port issue. With the new OEM battery fully charged (with OEM charger), the phone still doesn't want to start.
When I plugged in the USB cable to the device today, the RED (right) LED lighted up for a few seconds; then disappeared. I couldn't get the red LED to light up again on subsequent tries.
Unfortunately, I bought this phone second hand and noticed that the manufacturer's warranty expired just two months ago.
Is my phone really dead? Anything else I can try to revive it?
Any guess on how the Verizon technician would handle this if I were to bring the dead phone to a Verizon store?

I had the exact same thing happen on my Vogue. It was because I hosed the flash. Oooops.... I did recover very easily however. This may or may not work for you so good luck in advance.
Try to put the phone in "boot loader" mode by pressing camera and power at the same time then use your stylus to press the resert hole at the bottom. This will bring you to the infamous try color screen. Just flash an official OS ROM back to the phone and start all over.
If it does not go to boot loader then I would be concerned.
Thanks. Can't get to bootloader. Sigh...

Sorry to hear. I would continue to search. Do you have a warranty on it? If so just call them and say it wont power up. No need to volounteer why. They will replace it after they do things like have you remove the battery, etc.
Good luck to you.

Double check that.
Didn't the xv6800 get released in November of 2007? Hard for the one year warrant for be expired by 2 months.
Sure sounds like you have bad hardware and you aren't likely to fix it.
Last night, I charged my phone through PC and after 57% charge I take it off.
Phone was working fine before I went to sleep. When i woke up i found that my phone is turned off. I try to turn it ON, but it did not give me any response.I thought my battery was completely drained, So, I try to charge it through the SE charger and through PC but nothing worked.
At present, Phone is completely off with no light indication. I tried to charge it many time with and without SIM card and sd card, but it remains in this condition I also tried different methods which are mentioned in some other forums.
Please help me. Did anyone experienced this kind of phone behavior?
I have a similar problem, I`m running on Mini CM6 from quite a time now and I had minor problems which are solved by “wipe data/factory reset”. But that one is bigger. I came back from work and put my phone on the charger, it was at least 24h on it and it stayed on 98-99% did not go to 100%, I remove it from the charger and set an alarm for the next day when the alarm ringed after 5 hours I saw that the phone had 15% of battery. In “About phone>Battery use” there was a “Cell search” (if I`m right) that I saw drained my whole battery. I go to work and put it in the charger again when I came back after 5-6 hours it was again on 98-99% I removed it and set an alarm (again) but for sooner not for next morning) before that alarm ringed the phone had 30% batter after I stop it the battery began to go down 2% at 1 second and it turn off. And guess what I did? Put the charger again for the whole night, the next morning after I woke up I decided to remove it from the charger and turn it off because I knew that it will search for signal again and I have to charge it. And that was the last time I saw it alive since then I don`t have anything from it I tried to charge it ->nothing ; SE PC suite -> nothing its totally dead. Its still in warrant but I`m afraid that they won`t repair it because I use a custom ROM. If anyone have any idea I`m listening.
Thanks in advance
Sorry for my bad English.
Try this:
Press the power button + middle button (home) at the same time.
Slight chance it will help, but you'll never know!
;;@above: right, they won't repair when you've got it modded.
They probablywon't know, you could give it a try.

After lots of frustration, I found a solution to charge dead battery by charging it with little High voltage(9v) to get back it into chargeable state. I followed the same procedure and managed to charge my battery, but during and after full charge(99%) battery got very HOT. I was very happy to saw my phone back working, but my happiness was eventually went away when i saw that battery was draining very fast
Now, Battery is lasting just for few hours (2-3) and whole phone gets very hot.
The worst thing is, If i left my phone for few hours and do not charge it, battery will again full drain and i would be in the same condition from where i started.
I wish i never had bought this crappy phone
So i`ve send the phone to service and they said: After many tries we find out that a connection in the motherboard was f****d and its 4 layer so they can`t repair it. Because of a scratch(which is very hard to notice) they cancel the warranty, and they tried to make it so they can take my money but they are stupid and they couldn`t. Now i`m buying a new phone which is not going to be Sony because they don`t make a thing for their old customers(personal opinion). I want to thank you all for your help and support
I read a lot about and also on the sonyericsson website says that these feeding problems are often related to two components:
- Sd card damaged or damaging some application installed, then you want to format
- Memory, or too full
The problems are:
- The phone turns itself off
- Sometimes turns on by itself
- Turns itself off if not turned on unless a soft reset (home + power button)
- If it turns itself off and starts believing it is discharged in office no signs of life
I honestly thought we could find the solution on this forum but apparently it's pretty annoying also an issue for you, I is the third time I hard reset and I think I'll two things:
- Or install a rom
- If the problem persists delete root permissions bringing the device to the condition of complete originality and I'll settle for some applications, at this point I doubt will happen again, so if the phone will sell and buy another one or send it under warranty
If anyone has found a solution to the problem you say that! many of us get us the hair from the head!
