i have just upgraded my spv 3100 anyway i want to get rid of the orange uk rom and put a wm6 version, i live in the uk and want to know from all the people on this forum which rom i should have on this phone ie still has video calling etc and is where a way of unlocking the phone. thanks for all your help in this mapper.

I'm getting a XDA II (latest o2 UK update) and I will be using it with an Orange sim.
Which rom is the best to have for me?
I saw the new iMate rom was released.
o2 is installed now but I don't need any o2 stuff as I will be using it on Orange.
What do you guys think?
Keep the o2 rom or upgrade to another? (QTek, iMate, etc)

I have an M1000 (Orange's XDA2) and thats running v1.60, the latest one you can download from the O2 site. I'd guess use that on your XDA 2 and you shouldn't have any problems

What improvements do you see using the 1.60 ROM ?
I have an M1000 with the original (English Language) 1.52 ROM.
Using a couple of tools, I have GPRS always on and my TomTom 2 is working perfectly.
I don't feel that I am missing anything, and since the upgrade would void the waranty from Orange, I am holding back upgrading..

Plz share your 1.60 rom for the M1000. I'm having an Orange M1000 (with the 1.52 rom), and would very much like to hear from anyone having upgraded this model.

I simply used a standard UK version (it WAS actually the USA ROM when it arrived), of the XDA2, with my Orange UK SIM.
Works fine.
Since then I have upgraded to the latest UK O2 ROM upgrade - again no problem.
I have also done a lengthy post on here as to all the Orange settings ou need for the phone.
help, i have just got an ameo and previously had an xda exec, which i unlocked,then a Mda pro(universal) and installed wm6 which works great compared to wm5, i have tried using olipro unlocker on the ameo... an had an error message at stage 1 flash SPL....TRIED IT TWICE AND the phone is completely dead... doesn't charge or switch on .. i have unlocked and upgraded on two models so i do have a clue.....i should be getting a replacement, but really need to run it on wm6 as i believe it works a lot better as with my Mda pro.
could you pls tell me which is the right toolor a link to unlock and upgrading Ameo (uk) to wm6.There are so many threads i cant tell which tools have been tested and works....Can afford to brick the new one

If you have bricked one device don't try it again. There are issues being worked out with the unlocker.
Second, there is a ROM you can use for your Ameo that should install without being unlocked and based on WM6. It's on the forum somewhere. I don't remember where it was posted so you'll have to search.
Let us know how it goes....remember you don't need to unlock if you find the right ROM...the WM6 ROM for an Ameo/Tmobile device.

On my third Ameo running wm6 pro.olipro unlocker v2 should do the job i heard but intsalled the rom which run on t-mobile ameo. Dont know what the difference with the black touch version is ... i cant complain ..well for the moment . Thanks again People!!!!!
The T-Mob ROM works without unlocking but Olipro V2 worked fine on my UK Ameo which allowed me to install Black Touch which, thanks to PK and the team, is far better.

Hello westie,
use the search funktion for "unlocking" and "ROM" here in the Hermes section.
You will find Threads to unlock your device and you will find available ROMs to flash your Hermes.
For example this:
unlock
Schaps ROM 4.20
or search this part of the forum

Won an auction for an Orange SPV M3100 on ebay, and plan to use it with Three Uk sim card, and if poss debranding it would be good.
If you flash your HTC Hermes will it still retain all functionality included in the branded rom?!

It will retain the functionality that is not dependant on provider's apps. So it means that settings for Orange MMS, Orange theme with Orange today plugin will be gone. This can however be installed back (you can download those files in extracted EXT ROMS part of Hermes wiki).
Free Hermes unlocker will unlock the Hermes for other carriers too. It can be found in Hermes upgrading forum.

So for example if I install Black Satin WM6 upgrade, will I have all functionality such as video calling, internet (3G & Wifi), mms, camera etc all working as intended with the phones original WM5 Orange branded rom?
The unlocking part sounds easy enough, I downloaded Hermes SIM CID unlock v3a I read the instructions whch say connect via activesync and run the '.bat' file. Should this take long? Should have the phone by Thursday hopefully so would like to know what to do in advance so I can get it ready for my 3 Uk sim.
I have a unlocked g4 MDa vario, with the standard uk tmobile rom on it .
to make things easier I would like to put the Qtek (uk vodafone) rom on the device.
now I have tried extacting the rom and using softspl but I get either file write errors or invalid carrier so can not flash it.
Can anyone help as I like WM6.1 rom which im running at the moment, but my device just runs really slow but doesnt on the wm5 rom but would love the qtek uk vodafone rom on it as they are my carrier.
