Hi, Newby here, so may have been answered before. I have a V1605 (HTC Hermes) which I bought in the UK but am now using in South Africa where I am working for a year. Problem is that when I enter the MTN settings for my local email, the password seem to be over written by the original Vodafone one (or the new one is shown twice). Is there any way I can change this?
Thanks
I do not think that your password is 'overwritten'! It is more likely as in other common application that for security purposes more ***** are shown than your current passwort actually has, so, no one can determine how many characters your password really has!

Hi
I recently purchased an O2 XDA IIi, which is unlocked from O2 and has been hard-reset to remove O2 features.
My SIM works as much that I can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages.
But, to access Internet, Email, MMS etc etc I need the settings for Orange (Ive tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306 but no luck).
Does anyone have the correct settings please ?
Is there a programme I can download (the type that is pre-installed onto Orange phones) as this may be the quickest solution.
I have tried Orange support on 3 occassions now and whilst they state they dont support non-orange phones they have tried to help - but without success.
Does anyone know if the hard-reset actaully leaves various O2 settings on the phone, which still need sorting.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD !!
Thank You !!!
Paul

Hi mate,
Are you on PAYG or Contract?
If your on contract try this
Daz aka Cadburys Man.
Hi
Im on contract.
The other potential problem is that its an orange sim, orange contract BUT an EQ Virgin tariff (if that makes a difference)
Paul
Mate i can't see that making any difference what so-ever, if it's Orange contract it's Orange contract as far as i'm concerened, unless of course someone can say differently.
Daz.
Hi Daz
Thanks for that - but no luck with it.
Just to check I did things correctly.....
Downloaded it to desktop and bluetoothed it to PDA.
Found it in My Docs and clicked it to load it.
Was that correct procedure ?
Unfortunately, when I try to connect with it I get........
"No modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if needed tap settings"
Name = Orange Internet
Modem = Cellular Line (GPRS)
APN = orangeinternet
User = [blank]
Password = [blank]
TCP/IP = User server assigned IP address
Servers = Use server assigned addresses
Are the the settings that were downloaded ?
Thanks
Paul
Hmmmm thats wierd cos mine works and the settings are same as mine :?
I copied mine using the cradle through activesync but don't think that matters at all as the settings are the same.
Anyone else have a solution or tryed this file sucessfully?
Sorry i couldn't be of more help
Daz.
as i wrote in this post in the other forum then if it's set on auto pick of the o2 network profile it is bound to fail
Rudegar
There is NO mention of O2 anywhere on connections.
I ONLY have Orange Internet set up as described above.
Now.......
someone suggested looking at the External Rom ??
Ive managed to unlock this and need to know where and what I am looking to change ?
..Unless anyone has a full ext rom download i can use to overwrite what i already have ?
MANY MANY thanks

Hello,
I just brought a unlocked Hermes X01HT on ebay. I'm living in Japan and currently have a Softbank contract. I was able to slap my sim card in my new X01HT and get do calls, no problem. My data connection didn't seem to work so I did a little research and found this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031&highlight=japan)
I applied that and I was browsing the net no problem. I downloaded MMS Lite to handle my S!mail functions. But it's still not 100%. Some webpages I can't seem to open, and MMS Lite sucks. It's not the way my S!mail was before, and I can't set anything up because the options in the program are unreadable. It looks like I need to install a language pack or something just to read the options in MMS Lite.
I know if I go to Softbank most of them will be clueless as to how to help me. I think it's something as simple server/gateway/DNS address and things like that, right? I'm presuming that ALL phones aren't Softbank configured tp your specific plan right out of the box.
Any ideas?
Hi folks,
I wanted to unlock my Mozart (branded on Orange France) by code purchased in one of these website from US.
The unlocking code was given, I enter it when asking and then no network service. crossed ring on the left high corner.
I made a hard and a soft reset
I install HTC sync connexion application on market place and configure it but still the same troubles: The handy search for a network but keep on No service.
How can I fix this ?
Thanks for your help.

Updated: HTC Mozart & Telstra–Battery Issues. “SOLVED”!
with 40 comments
Since the Mozart was released in Australia about 3 or 4 weeks ago, there has been a public uproar about the battery performance. Sometimes I haven’t been able to get 6 hours out of a fully charged battery with push email on.
I’ve been working with a technician from Telstra for the last 2 weeks debugging the issues. The root of the cause has come down to the way the Phone is configured to operate on the Next G network. By default, the phone uses the telstra.wap APN (Access Point Name) to connect you to the interwebs. Now the telstra.wap APN allows you to access internal telstra services like Mobile Data Usage & MyBill etc.
The “issue” isn’t one that “we” fully understand at the moment, it could be a configuration issue on the Telstra network or a software configuration change on the device. But Telstra understand the issue and are actively working to get a fix.
A workaround is available for all those who can’t wait for a ROM upgrade. All you need to do is add an APN in the “mobile network” configuration settings. The APN is “telstra.iph”.
Now this APN is specific to devices that require PUSH email & use a fair amount of data. The APN transparently proxies all your HTTP & HTTPS traffic over the Telstra network and improves the battery life 300%! I went from 6 hours to over 24 hours battery life.
To set the APN, go to Settings > mobile network. Scroll right to the bottom and click “add apn”. In the APN box, type “telstra.iph” and click the tick icon in the Application Bar.
Now, this is by NO means a permanent fix. What this does is provide a temporary solution for us while Telstra & HTC work on a fix.
The only “issue” with hard setting this APN, you can no longer get to the “My Bill” part of the Telstra Portal, you can still see “my data usage” and everything else.
Update: While hard setting the APN fixes the battery issue. It appears it stops people from purchasing apps via your Telstra bill. This is because the default proxy inserts billing identifiers as headers when you click “buy” via the Marketplace app on your phone. Now you”re using a DIFFERENT http server (the iPhone specific ones), which don”t know about the Windows Phone marketplace headers. To get around this, click the “change payment method” link before you click the buy button. This will give you the option of registering a new credit card.
Best Regards
USA using Mozart
Ok, I'm using a Telstra Mozart with an AT&T SIM card. Will this work for me? Usually if I change the APN I lose my service.
I have flashed the TMob_AT ROM by Ansar
Thanks for posting a 4 month out of date fix for a SPECIFIC issue only on TELSTRA to do with their APN, which was fixed months ago.
This post is totally useless and in fact incorrect as was resolved in December.
If anyone changes their APN because of this post, they are idiots.

No, don't change it, you are not using Telstras network, and if you are they fixed it months ago.
I really have no idea why the OP pasted it here, pure stupity.
It was regarding an issue with the TELSTRA NETWORK NOT THE PHONE.
Do not use these settings if you are not in australia and on telstra. It will not work anywhere else in the world, and it has been resolved locally. Does not help in Aus any more either.
@OP [original poster] does your phone work with that APN change? probably not! while your enthusiasm is valued, misinformation is not! Test before you post!
XTreamer Joyz doesn't seem to be able to connect to the Dutch Vodafone mobile data network. 3G icon is displayed but logging shows Joyz is not receiving any IP address configuration from the Vodafone network.
Log for ConnectivityService LinkAddresses, Routes and DnsAddresses fields empty .......
I have confirmed this failure with the Vodafone NL helpdesk and my XTreamer Joyz seems to be the second one they have dealt with and are unable to get to work on their network this week. They are interested in finding out how this can be fixed (of course ). Vodafone AP configuration carefully checked and tested, all possible combinations tried to no avail.
I will contact XTreamer to ask if there are any known issues with this version of the Joyz ROM.
Xtreamer Desk OS 3.3.18
Kernel version: 3.0.15
Vodafone NL mobile network detected as: UMTS:3
No IP address available in Settings --> System --> About Phone --> Status menu.
I will keep posting here.
Thanks.

Hi Gerry,
Might have been a good idea to post on the official forum so we could notice right away, luckily I am a long-time XDA member who checks here every now and then
I have a Vodafone Australia SIM so it is probably not quite the same, but I do not have issues with data connection.
The Jellybean update was released within the past 24-hours, please let us know if the problem still persists after updating. Link for download and update instructions - http://forum.xtreamer.net/topic/33593-jelly-bean-for-joyz-now-live-deck-os-milestone-1/
Thanks Dan,
I am a bit new to Android development and have not yet found the Joyz Xtreamer forum.
I will update my Joyz today and post here what the results are.

Vodafone second line support promised to contact me later this week. Joyx doesn't get any IP address, nameserver and gateway information from Dutch Vodafone net.
Vodafone using PAP authentication ......
Vodafone NL 2nd line technical support staff has been tracing my Joyz connection today.
The issues are related to CHAT/PPP using the PAP method authentication on the personal Vodafone APN.
Vodafone NL personal/privat (not business use!) uses a different APN (live.vodefone.com) from the business APN (office.vodafone.nl). The live.vodafone.com APN uses CHAT/PPP for user/password verification (just as in the good old dial up modem days 1996+). The office.vodafone.nl APN does not use any authentication.
It looks as if the Joyz firmware doesn't have CHAT facilities. Looking at the contents of the rom the /etc/ppp directory is empty except for a vpn/ppp related binary. Also looking through the binaries I cannot find the CHAT binary. If CHAT/PPP would be installed an enabled there should be a lot more files in /etc/ppp. What I remember from a long time ago, files such as /etc/ppp/pap-secrets and up and down scripts.
Vodafone will come back to me next week. They seem to be concerned and are aware this problem will happen more often when non mainstream devices try to connect to the non-business Vodafone NL network.
Gerry
Vodafone NL fixed it!
Dear all,
Last Friday I received an SMS text from Vodafone NL stating they will switch of password authentication on their live.vodafone.com APN.
Testing over the weekend confirmed this. The Vodafone NL non-business APN now works for the Xtreamer Joyz.
:good:
