i'm on a Mac, so I am wondering if its possible to flash the Radio from the SD or in a way that does NOT involve a computer. the phone is SuperCID and I have successfully flashed the regular ROM a number of times using the OK+PWR+RESET method from an SD card, but now i noticed that i can upgrade my Radio too.
I am trying to flash it with HERM_Radinly_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU and do not have access to a PC.
Pls help.. 'cause the Wiki hasnt yet. Not very Mac friendly, and I dont have Parallels.

If you want to flash rom by SD card. the file should be in .nbh format. also need to rename in HERMIMG.nbh.
You can flash by SD if you're direct use of HERM_Radinly_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU
Shouldn't be a problem.
Open your radio file with winrar and you should see a xxxxxx.nbh file in there - probably about 14MB size. Extract this file to your SD card and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh then flash the same way you did before.
As a tip, I normally make sure the SD card is empty (I usually format it also) before I copy the nbh file to it.

it seemed needn't to make SD card empty. BUT MAKE SURE YOUR SD CARD IS FAT32 FORMAT, it's important.
change name to HERMIMG.nbh and copy it to SD card(just place it to SD Card do not copy to and folders)
i've done this several times.
Card flash zeroes PIM data?
Awesome, exactly the info I was looking for. Just one more question before I go for it. I know as a general rule it's a good idea to back everything up. But just so I know, will flashing the radio wipe out the thing? Or will I not need to load all my data back in?
no it will not wipe anything out.....
just load it and soft reset

Hi,
Since I mostly use Linux and Mac OS X, it's not very easy for me to flash my TyTN. There is an article in XDA-Wiki which describes a way to flash my device from the SD card, but it mentions formatting the card before doing the upgrade.
Is it absolutely needed to do so? I have lots of files in my card and I don't want to move them every time before I flash my phone.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
AFAIK, as long as your card is formatted in FAT32, then it should work.

Thanks for your answer, a test will convince me ...
i can confirm that you don't need to format it as long as it's FAT32. I can't flash ROMS at work for some reason (no admin privileges, i suspect) and so I occasionally flash from my SD card. It actually works really well.
Above posts are corre correct. I flash from SD card all the time, in fact i have NEVER used a cable to flash my phone. As long as the SD card has been formatted as fat32 you can flash from it without removing other files. I keep all my cabs, sms\contacts backup, files, contact pics, etc. in folders on the SD and then copy the .NBH file to the root of the card and flash away, makes it easy to change ROM's with minimal fuss and can even be done without a computer. About two weeks ago I found myself stuck in an airport and downloaded a new rom via airport wi-fi, extracted nbh file with pocket rar, renamed and saved to SD and viola, new ROM.
I confirm that too. What you absolutely need is to have it formatted in FAT32. SDcard flashing is the only way i use too. BUT... (yes... there is a ...but...) it happens that the "hermimg.nbh" is not detected if it is not one of the first files on your card. In this case, when you "hardreset", no file will be found. This is why i recommand to format it before.
I just recently got the startrek or 3125 and i was looking at the wiki on how to cid unlock it but i follow all the instructions but still i eather get lost or dont know what to do anymore can anyone help
please
try flasing using micro sd card
make sure your micro sd card is formatted to fat32.
download surrealnetworksappunlock.cab and run on your phone.
download your rom of choice to your pc.
(open the rom with winrar and you should see 2 folders, 1 named ruu and 1 named sspl)
open the ruu folder and extract the file ruu_signed.nbh to your desktop.
open the sspl folder and extract the files jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl (shortcut) to your desktop.
copy the jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl shortcut to your root directory on your device (not the storage card)
on your desktop, rename the ruu_signed.nbk file to starimg.nbk
copy the starimg.nbk file to the root of your storage card.
run the spl shortcut (it is the 36 bit file) from your phones root directory, your will get a prompt that the phone is searching the sd card, then select that you want to replace the os. should only take 20-30 sec, restart the phone when it prompts you.
fyi, you can have multiple nbk images on your card, just create a folder for your images, make sure to name the images accordingly, ie.. starimgwm6 or starimgwm6.1 etc...
then when you are bored or feel the need to change your os, just rename the image to starimg, place it on the root of the sd card and swap os's to your hearts content.
you can use the same process to change radios as well.
Hi, I also just got a used 3125, but no data cable. I used the SD Flash method to update to the last official Cingular ROM with no problems.
I've wanted to flash to the wm6 or wm6.1 roms here, but without the data cable I thought I was out of luck. Does the method you describe above work on all of these "unofficial" ROMs?
Just wanted a better explaination of what you meant by:
download your rom of choice to your pc.

The SD Flash thread specifically said only official ROM could be flashed from SD Card.
rom choice
has worked for me.
Great. I will try tonight.
I see that the two WM6.1 roms come only as "clean" versions... has anyone made a "Cingular OEM" version of wm6.1? If I use the "clean" ROM, what would I need to do to fully use the phone on Cingular network (USA)?
Lewnetoons - hows the PPC version on the 3125? Do you find youself using fakecursor alot, or only on PPC specific applications?
ppc version
It a little tricky to navigate sometimes, but not bad, after the first couple of days u get used to it, I really don't use it that much (the cursor that is)
I would suggest speeding up the cursor movement with the settings, it moves a little slow with the basic settings.
The nice thing is it runs most ppc and smartphone apps, a few don't work but most do with no problem.

thanks but this dint work i did everything correct and all it got to is were it looks in the sd card but the goes to the bootloader screen and it just stay there until i restart it
is there anyother way to upgrade it
storage card
not that I am aware of, if the renamed nbk file is on the root of the storage card it should work.
Just flashed to wm6.1 using the instructions in post #2. Worked exactly as stated. I thought I had to wait for a datacable to Flash, but this microSD card flashing is perfect.
Thanks!!
I have a working CRC rom now, but when i started looking into flashing a lot of ppl were saying i should only flash off the sd card. well, it didn't work when i first tried it, and i thought i would enquire as to why this was.
i did everything as the faq/wiki said, i have got the latest Hard SPL on my phone, i renamed the file to HERMIMG.nbh, i held the necessary buttons in and clicked reset with the stylus and i didnt get that gray menu. all i got was the 4 color thing that normally comes up when flashing ROMs. I did manage to successfully flash by USB/Activesync, but as i said im curious to know what stopped it from working, and maybe learn how to do it right in time for CRCs next release
Are you sure that you extracted the .nbh from the archive and formatted the sd card to FAT32? I know you said you did everything; I'm just double checking
3. Extract the .NBH file from your preferred ROM upgrade: In windows use winrar (right click) to extract the contents of the exe file.

Did you format the card fat32? This seems to be so simple most people overlook it and go to the 2nd step.
I've also found that I sometimes need to reformat my sd card (even though I flashed heaps of times with it) or it won't work.
Also you can only use up to a 2gb card to flash. The os will recognise a sdhc card but the bootloader won't...
Cheers...
i did format it to fat32, and i did rename it to that filename
i will try again soon and will report back, but for now i am happy with CRC 13
If the sd card is more than 2gb then it won't work also as the bootloader WILL NOT recognise an sdhc card...
Cheers...
No .NBH File
I think I am having the same issue, but I also think I know where the issue stems from.
CRC's files are in .7z format and the only file they seem to contain is the RUUWrapper.exe file and not also the RUU_signed.nbh file (the one that you should be renaming) that seem to be the standard of most other ROMs - unless I'm missing something.
I'm working from Linux (hence why I need the SD card option), just thought I'd throw that out there as an FYI in case it matters.

edit: meant to quote the post where it mentions formating to FAT32..
cyrxi, in windows you can use winrar to extract the .nbh file out of the .exe file. Not sure what you'd do in linux....
Sorry...
Is there a way to flash the Raphael without Windows, just by booting it into SPL and inserting a microSD with an image on it?
Why I'm asking? What, if a new ROM bricks the device in such way, that ActiveSync will no longer connect to it? RaphaelCustomRUU.exe will not work anymore.
If you have HardSPL you can flash from the SD card. I have flashed 6-7 custom roms on my TP and I haven't used the custom RUU for any of them.

I had this problem with ROMeOS v1.04, activesync just did not connect and no programs started, rebooting did not help. I already thought my phone to be brick!
Just press volume down and powerbutton to turn it on (should be off before of course) and you will end in the bootloader, flashing with RaphaelCustomRUU.exe works if the phone is on in bootloader mode and connected to computer. (thank god!)

Instructions would be nice if provided also....
I guess im the only one who cannot flash a ROMeOS rom from a SD-Card.
I've tried everything formatted the card to FAT32 renamed the .nbh to RAPHIMG.NBH tried caps and non caps. I even tried to format to regular FAT but still no go.
As you can see in my signature i have flashed Hard-SPL 1.90.OliNex
Mine are called RAPHIMG.nbh and they have to be in the root map of your SD, I do this with al the new ROM flashes, because I believe it's faster and you don't have the battery limit (which is there for good reason of course). So root map and there you won't see .nbh in the root map, just RAPHIMG. hope this helps

You need the nbh file extension. It just won't show if you have "Show File Extensions" turned off. If you use FileExplorer on PPC, you'll see RAPHIMG not RAPHIMG.nbh. (Check the file name in Windows or TotalCommander to be sure).
The file must be on the root of you SD Card and it should work, unless the OliNex HardSPL has some extra options / checks.

I already thought he meant the hide extensions thing but just to be sure
I've tried RAPHIMG.nbh but it doesn't work for my device.
I also own a Hermes and just flashed it the SD-Card way with HERMIMG.nbh and that device works perfectly, so it isn't a card problem.
Could it be an Hard-SPL thing then?

I've spoken with cmonex about this and there's no reason it shouldn't flash from the SD card. The code is in Olinex 1.90 to do it.
RAPHIMG.NBH on a FAT32 Formated Card and hey presto

I just tried it and it works. The file is named 'RAPHIMG.nbh' on the root of my storage card. Booted into bootloader mode and it instantly loads the nbh file.
Nice to know. So finally I do not have to boot Windows any more
I tried this for the first time just now, hadnt even thought to use the sd card, I usuallly go through all the hassle of using a vm just to flash.
File is named RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the sd, restart holding vol- and thats it.

Could it depend on which ROM you flash? Because honestly i only tried to flash ROMeOS with SD-Card. I never tried to flash DCS or something else.
So many people with successful flashes with the SD so i'm almost sure i'm doing something wrong here.
I will try again a soon as a newer ROM comes out because i'm a bit tired flashing different ROMs
Thanks for all the support.
I was using ROMeOS v1.10. sd card is a sandisk 6gb. Its hard to see what could prevent it from working for you, hopefully something will turn up.
Ishould also note it is considerably faster flashing from sd than over usb.
Put your miniSD in a card reader and from Windows, right click it and select format. Choose fat32 and leave the volume label blank. If it automatically adds a name delete it before proceeding with the format. After it's formatted, place your RAPHIMG.nbh on the rott of the card. Enter bootloader by holding volume down and pressing reset and it will find the image file. From there follow the on screen instructions and it will be done in a few minutes.

It is indeed. It is:
1. Safer [Risk free if you ensure you have at least 50% of battery left.]
2. Faster [Way much faster.]
3. Windowsless [that's a blessing!]
Good luck.
Cheers.
I had problems too flashing hang.tuah's rom but only 1.05 it would flash but not boot up, i tried through 2 pcs and via flash card.
i couldn't flash by my actual card cause from what I read sdhc isn't necessarily supported in bootloader, so i borrowed a friends 2gb microsd and that worked with flashing.
Since there is a new version of ROMeOS i'm gonna try it again.
I'm going nuts over here
I renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and copied it to the root of a FAT32 formatted SanDisk 2GB Ultra II card (non-SDHC) and check it for errors.
When i insert the card and reset while pressing the volume down button to enter the bootloader, the device says "No Image File Found" and just stays in the bootloader
What am i doing wrong here??? It's no that a big deal because i can flash using the wrapper but it should also flash with the SD-Card.
I'm almost giving up here
If there are any more idea's bring em up
Hello friends, how are you?
I'm from Portugal, and i have one nice strek 5 working great.
But i have another two, that don't boot, it stuck on delll Logo.
i think another my friends try to root or update, and fail.
it don't make any fast boot or streak mod.
so i disassemble to read its sd card.
because i'm using windows, so i install DiskInternalls Linux Reader to have acess to sd card files.
When mounted, its show two volumes, "Linux Ext Volume 1" and "Linux Ext Volume 2"
the firs one have 244 Mbs, and the other one have 1.65Gb
the small one have two folders, lost+found, recovery and a lot of jpeg files in root folder.
the second one, that have 1.65Gb, have a lot od folders and semms a lot of a zipped rom image.
Its possible just decompress and copy to the volume?
Thanks
If you format the card and put it back in the streak, it should set it up automatically. However, you will lose anything on it this way.
Ok. i will try..
but, it don't need to write some data in "boot area" ?
I'm asking that, becouse i download 3 roms, all ziped, but easy to see files, i also download streak mod, and has only one img file, it can't be unzipped..
my firts idea, was copy streak boot files, to card, but i can't acess it..
My assumption, and it is only an assumption, is there is some sort of actual rom memory on the phone that holds the lowest levels of the operating system. Maybe fastboot and the recovery menu, but not recovery itself. The rom actually resides on the internal sd card. When I put in my freshly formatted sd card, I simply rebooted the phone and I don't remember if it was automatic, or I had to confirm it, but the streak partitioned/formatted/whatever the internal sd card itself. I then flashed a recovery and a rom.
Hello.
like you said, i have insert a new sd card, but formated in FAT, i think thats the problem.
I try to load Linux Live CD, and format in ext2/3.
or try to copy rom directly file to sd card.
You think might work?
***EDIT***
I have format the card, and i have inserted into sreak and turn it on..
How much time is preparing the new card ?
and how i know that is ready to reboot?
thanks
I have created an image of my inner SD Card right after a factory reset.
Download Here
I created this using Clonezilla, you should be able to use Clonezilla to restore it. It is an image of the entire sd card. You need to unzip the downloaded file to use it.
Note: I am running DSC_Rom, which is Gingerbread based. I don't think it makes a difference.
