hello all,
i've been googling and searching on here, unable to find the program the htc touch uses for its camera. i've even checked the usual places such as sprintmogul.net, freewareppc, etc.
i find its so much cleaner and easier to use compared to the titan's.
does anyone know if its been released and where i can download it?

I know it was tried and cooked into at least one ROM.. but I think if you use the touch camera you lose your flash, so most people decided it wasn't worth it.

ah yes, you're right! the touch does have no flash opposed to the titan. pity as i never use the flash when taking pictures and prefer the cleaner interface offered on the touch.

I wish there was a way to flip the landscape mode so it's not backwards for me!

Yes, i think is the same like in the new WM6.1 in this forum.
I instal the 4.01 but has a big battery drain, and i want go back.
I can cook mi rom again, but if any has the cab....
if you just uninstall the 4.01 camera it will auto reset itself to the previous one.
trust me, i've tested it..
In my case i cook my room without camera.....
anyway, i'm going to cook it again..

It can be when plugged into a PC, I just can't remember what software allows you to do this.

Yes, with this software. But it's not a really equivalent to desktop webcam, the performance is worse.

I have uninstalled HTC 4.11 Camera as it was ridiculously slow on my prophet and when I press camera it still reverts to the HTC verion even though it has been removed?? I want to avoid hard resetting if poss! Many thanks

Right now I'm running the stock Sprint ROM. All I really want to change (man I'm getting boring in my old age!) is the TouchFlo version. I reallllly want the calendar tab on the main screen.
Do I have to flash my entire ROM to get that or can you just upgrade/install over the old TouchFlo? I search the forums here with a variety of key words but everything I found pointed back to ROMs of some sort.

You can probably upgrade to a later version of TF3D, but truth be told... it would me much simpler to flash since there is a slew of things that need to be done to get the extra tabs and such. Besides, flashing to something like the NRG roms will boost your TP's performance... a lot!

I actually just gave my Touch Pro to my wife... so while *I* have a huge tolerance after years and years of flashing ROMs and tweaking phones for the hiccups that come with such matters, I don't want to put her in a position of having to trouble shoot her phone without me or it crashing on her.
She's all about juicing up her phone with a new ROM but I don't want it to be horrible experience for her.
I was looking, earlier today, at NFSFAN's rom. It seems to be very well received although it looked like people were having trouble with the push-based syncing (which would be a deal breaker since her phone syncs to Google)

NFS is usually good... I would try that as well as NRG, Mighty, Vevitto, and probably Juicy. Hope that helps...

How to upgrade it? ive installed the Stock ROM on my TP(GSM) from site sunnysoft.com/htc/ and its kinda flawless and very very fast. I dont wanna change the ROM but i could use the calendar tab from sense 2.1 cos i find it very handy.. is there a way to add it to my tf3d ?
I tried to install sense 2.1 from cabs on this ROM but had the problem updating weather so i dropped it, besides that the ROM wasnt working so smoothly anymore.

Stuff for Sense/TF3D tend to write and drop a bunch of files under the Windows directory, which (under most cases) will slow down your device. So, getting it pre-cooked is always better as it is cleaner than the installation.
I'm looking through the posts here, but there are so many ROM's it's overwhelming.
I am looking for a clean Windows Mobile ROM, without TouchFlo or any other HTC involvements. I don't know if such a ROM exists.
I have disabled TouchFlo now, but it's not possible to get rid of it completely, e.g. volumeadjustment and commanager.
I need all the hardware to work though. Camera, GPS, Radio and my Scandinavian keyboard. Maybe there are drivers I can install for this?
If such a ROM exists, I will buy a new Touch Pro to test with, so I don't mess up the one I use daily.
Anyone who can help?
there really aren't that many ROMs. try searching "clean" or "non-sense" and you'll probably find what you're looking for. i believe your scandinavian keyboard is just the touch pro keyboard (instead of Fuze)? in which case it usually supported by all ROMs or theres a keyboard selector to change it easily.
and do you really not need volume and commanager? pretty important for standard phone usage or at the very least, i would like to control the volume.
i suppose GPS isn't that common a phone feature but if you can afford to buy another Touch Pro just to test it out, why not just buy a simple phone with the wanted features which will probably have longer battery life and be smaller than the touch pro? just a thought.

First to clearify something; I do need volume and commanager. What I meant is that I like the Windows volume and commanager better than the one HTC provided. A lot easier to use. I'm used to it from Windows Mobile 5.
I like my Touch Pro and I haven't found a better phone yet. And I need the GPS. I will search some more. The ROM's I have found so far all have the TouchFlo included.

I've been very impressed with the camera on my HTC Amaze (Wind). However, I've been wondering why we don't seem to have the same camera app that's shown in all the reviews around the web. That nifty looking camera app with a ton of features is not present on my phone. Instead it seems to have the old HTC camera app (I think). I was wondering why this is? Did T-Mobile make some sort of deal with HTC that made the app exclusive to their phones or something? If so, is there a way I can get that app on my HTC amaze without rooting?

Hmm.. Yeah. I haven't noticed it until I saw your post but...
The Canadian version of the camera app is different.
I just flashed to Bulletproof, so I don't exactly remember... but I actually think some of the settings are different.
You can watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDLsOw34SUA around the 3:00 minute mark to see what our stock camera looked like.
Now if it was actually a newer/older version or not, I don't know.

ya that's the old camera software, I don't know why you still have that...have you updated the software on your phone to the latest? if not flash a custom rom!!! bulletproof I hear is a good one!
I believe I am up to date. I kind of want to avoid rooting my phone this time around (at least until HTC drops it). I found rooting and ROMing to be a time waster, annoying, and to ultimately provide me little benefit (often actually made things worse) on my old phone (Milestone XT720), so I'm trying to avoid rooting atm (might be different experience on this phone, but still)... Anyway to get that camera app without rooting?

I am not sure, you should ask someone more experienced like a developer. you can also call HTC and tell them about this issue!!
You would need to replace the stock app in the system directory and I'm pretty sure you can't do that without root. Having said that, I'm pretty sure you can install another camera app and use that instead...if you really want, try downloading one of the custom roms and pulling the Camera.apk out and installing it.

I would have liked to just post this in the ViperRez thread, but I guess the rules dictate I must ask it here. I'm running ViperRez 1.03 and I absolutely love it. However, after searching the thread, and trying a couple fixes, I am still getting the issue with the camera not functioning. You go to take a picture and it seems like it fails to auto-focus and then just boots you back to your homescreen. No FC error or anything. It's seemingly random, and quite frustrating. My questions is whether or not there has been a definitive fix to this problem or not. And if not, does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality camera app to replace stock?

Fix works for camera, but not for video
Turning off auto focus and face recognition works for the camera, but the video function still closes back to the home screen. Any suggestions on how to fix that are most welcome.

Thanks for the tip. I don't mean to be negative, however I still don't get 100% functionality from doing this. I took 5 pictures just now and on the 6th it did it. And not to mention, with auto-focus turned off, 3 of those 5 are extremely blurry. Is this bug an issue with the rom and the hardware or just a bug with the camera app? Could using a different camera app from the market help? I absolutely love this ROM but its looking like I'm going to downgrade my entire user experience and use a sense 3.6 rom. It seems like it should be such an easy fix, I'm used to much bigger hurdles on much harder phones to dev for.
I don't mean to come across as entitled, I'm just confused really. I came from the Bionic and the Droid X, both of which had locked bootloaders, yet the development for those phones seemed to go much smoother. Seems like with this phone, only sense 3.6 roms are stable. Everything else seems to be spotty at best. I'd be happy if AOSP worked correctly, I don't really NEED sense. AOSP roms have more issues than the camera.

Try swapping your storage partition default on the camera app. It shouldn't be doing that, mine's been working great for months and I take a lot of pictures.
Mine started acting up as well after a few days of use. I ended up just reflashing the rom to fix it and so far so good. Next time I might just try flashing the kernel alone and see what happens. I have a feeling its a rom issue though since im on vinylfreaks kernel and not the stock one, ( runs cooler with it).
I also wish there was just a way to reflash the camera app. I might try extracting the rom zip file also next time but it happened to me out on the road and I needed the camera working so couldnt do much troubleshooting
