Hi Guys,
I am having problems trying to get my GPS receiver and my Jasjam synced together. I am using wm6 Satin Normal.
When i go and add a new bluetooth device, it finds it fine and I add the passkey in with no problems. They wont actually sync up though which is the annoying part. The reason I know this is because the bluetooth light on the gps doesnt flash, and I can't get any GPS signals from tom tom 6.
Ive tried different com ports etc and it doesnt seem to help at all. One thing that is confusing is the "external GPS" option. I am usnsure on which ports to choose for each as your already choosing an outgoing port in the bluetooth properties etc?
I have also installed GPS gate, and that can seem to pickup the bluetooth side of the gps receiver but always comes up saying "no gps signal found" but you can see the bluetooth flashing on receiver.
Sorry for the large rant, I have been trying to get this working for the last 5 hours
Cheers,
Jacob

Here's what i did, hope it helps you
I had a similar issue-- bought gps receiver in poland, the synced it retarded... only worked with their software, had to fiddle around to make it work with inav. Then I upgraded my rom and couldn't get it to sync exactly like your problem. I fixed it though and here's what i did. BTW, i have a navibe gb735 bluetooth receiver. Anyway... first thing i did wrong is not set my software to a 9600 baud rate. This fixed my syncing issue... but i digress. From the beginning not.
1. pair the bt receiver to your phone by adding the device.
2. in external gps I set the program com to 1 (I don't think its necessary though).
3. In the hardware com i set it to com 5.
4. I left checked the automatially manage gps.
5. Went back to bluetooth settings and created a new outgoing com port for the bluetooth receiver and set it to 5 (same number as the hardware port in external gps settings).
6. I don't know about tom tom, but in inav i have a gps settings tab. Since my bt receiver manual says it should be set at 9600 baudrate, I changed to that in the software's settings and also chose com 5 in the actual software's settings.
7. OK, once all this is done and for initial start up, I suppose its a good idea to turn off the phone first before trying to make it work; not a soft reset though... just power it down.
8. When you start it up, go to bluetooth settings, click on your device and refresh your services (just to make sure its synced well).
9. Close out the bluetooth settings and turn on tom tom.
10. Your bluetooth should sync itself now. IF not, leave to program open and go back to bluetooth settings and just refresh services on the device. IF that doesn't fix it, I can't really help you anymore.
p.s. sometimes it helps to just turn off bluetooth services and turn them on while the gps program is running. I have to do that sometimes when i switch between inav and google maps mobile.
This is the process i had to go through with my receiver and after having some issues with it sometimes syncing and sometimes not; I now have it syncing regularly with no problems.
cheers
I have an AntennaGPS.
I sync the GPS with the phone. I then go into advanced on the sync settings and tick the serial port option. I then go to comm ports and set the GPS to comm port 4 (you have to do this before running Tomtom software). Then I start Tomtom. It automatically detects what com port the GPS is on but I have to pick "other BT receiver". Had no problems.... Ever..
Cheers...

I just purchased an iBlue gps 737 receiver, and it works great. Setup is a snap; just follow the directions in the manual and join the iBlue to your hermes. Once the two are paired, go into the bluetooth radio settings and click on com ports. Click add new com port. Select the iBlue. Select com0. Go into google maps; I am using v2. Click menu>options>gps settings. Select Get Manually. Select com0 with a baud rate of 115200. Click ok at the bottom. Click Menu>Use GPS.
When the 2 devices are communicating, google maps will not display an error, the gps light on the device will turn solid, then start blinking and the bluetooth light will either turn from solid or from blinking every 5 seconds to blinking every 2 seconds. Google will also start tracking your location.
All of this depends on 2 things... that I can think of, right now.
1 you have to have a rom that is already setup to use external gps or have a hacked regestry.
2 I can't remember now, because it's 12 at night, but I'll think of it later and edit the post.
Write if you need help.
I bought an iBlue 737 to replace my lost Holux GR-236 and I've had no trouble with it at all with my Herm200. I use TomTom 6 set to Com0 or Com9 (can't remember which.)
The only thing I'll say is to make sure when pairing the device you select 'Advanced' and tick the Serial Port option, and not to create an 'outgoing COM port' in bluetooth settings, since that seemed to result in a lot of dropped connections for me...
Based on your comments I just ordered one yesterday. I cant wait. I got it for 50 bucks with free shipping and a free windshield mount. You really cant beat that!
Now that we have a rom available to enable the internal GPS (much thanks to DCD!) would it be possible to add a GPS enable/disable icon to the HTC Comm Manager?
Or is this even necessary?
from what ive heard... once you shut your phone to standby it closes the gps port. some people claim with no apps running such as google maps or live search that by going to ##debug#... it still shows their gps location. If i had a bet and we made a button that did that, all it would do is disable the LOCATION ON setting in your phone settings. Then when you want to turn it on.. you would turn that back to location on
i havent played with commmanagers much, but assuming we can point a button at a mortscript, theres already quite a few gps startup morts floating around. im sure we could modify the start script to be a toggle.. let me look around
edit: check out talynone's thread here and see if any of the launcher-type apps he linked might give us a start. the real project is coming up with what you want to call your gps toggle, i think sticking that in the commmanager will be easy at that point.
Thanks guys,
Really there isn't anything to shut off technically...it's not like shutting off Bluetooth transmitter which drains battery power...
But a toggle to switch bet location on and "911 only" would be helpful for those who have friend tracking apps and don't want to be located at certain times.
It's really a very low priority to have I must admit, but it would be nice to know I didn't have to dig deep into phone settings to toggle that off.
I'll look around for something that already toggles this for those who have built in GPS stock and WM6, And post whatever I find here.
friend tracking apps?
there are a few of those services like Loopt that will let friends track you via GPS (probably AGPS)....
https://loopt.com/loopt/sess/index.aspx
It's available for Sprint now...
there are also Parental trackers out there for Smartphones but I have never seen one for the PPC yet...
They also use the location on settings in the smartphones which is really the capability we are enabling with the new radio.
So a quick way to turn location on and off seemed like a good idea.

If there isn't anything to turn on or off, then why do I need to run AstroGPSLauncher to get the sats up for TomTom? Or is this just making a connection that already is live and leads TomTom to it?
P.S. I have seen CommManagers with a GPS icon in the past. Maybe even on one of your ROM's dcd.
Well hohnan - It's very different situation than the other things you turn on and off in the Comm Manager...
IE: when you turn off Bluetooth your really turning off the transmitter and shutting down the port (com usually) that the receiver uses to send data it recieves to the device...but the receiver stays on.
The GPS location off feature is similar in the respect that it does not transfer data it receives to the rest of the phone because the com port is shut down. There is no radio transmitter being used at all. I'm willing to bet that they use a single Radio receiver for all the radio signals the unit can see (Cell BT WiFi GPS). So by shutting location to 911 only your GPS is still receiving Sat data and running (cause it can see the sat transmissions) but it simply doesn't send the data anywhere as there is no port to communicate with.
I think the primer app your running is simply initializing the communications between the radio and the phone so that Tom Tom can use it.
I suspect in due time both Tom Tom and Garmin will be more aware of the built in GPS settings of WM6 and negate the need to run something else before it will work.
Hi all,
I just upgraded yesterday to the new official ROM (3.35.651.2), and am trying to find anything at all to point me in a direction to get the GPS working. I've tried searching all over the place, and can only figure that I'm missing something, or doing something wrong.
-I've got the "Location Setting" turned on in the dialer services options
-"External GPS" settings...
GPS program port: COM4
GPS hardware port: (None)
Baud rate: 4800
-Google Maps, locks up on "Initializing GPS..."
-VisualGPSce never connects
-GPS Test never connects
In fact, checking each COM port with Pocket puTTY, I never see any serial data at all on any port (set up for 4800, 8N1, no flow control)
Numerous resets, still nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions? Any other settings to check? Anything else to enable the GPS? Anything else I should be testing?
Thanks!
Forgot to add that Sprint Navigation doesn't see it either...
Times out of the "Getting GPS" and then tells me that the GPS signal is weak.
A friend had the same problem, and it turned out he had the wrong bootloader. He used the correct olipro and it now works. Try that.

Sorry for my noobishness, but what's olipro? I just did the "factory" firmware upgrade with HTC's RUU, didn't piece-mail anything.
Thanks

Make sure that your phone's location setting is set to "ON". You can do this by launching the "Phone" app (found in Start->Settings->"Personal" tab), then:
1. Under the "Services" tab, choose the "Location Setting" item in the listbox, and press the "Get Settings..." button.
2. Make sure the "Phone: Location Setting" is set to "ON"
3. OK everything, and soft reset your phone

Yep, as I mentioned above, the "Location Setting" is set to "ON". As suggested elsewhere, I had also tried explicitly turning it off, soft reset, turning it back on, soft reset, and still no GPS.
Thanks.
Download GPSViewer and install it to the device.
Soft reset.
Open GPSViewer and run a com port scan and make sure it says Found GPS! when it scans com4.
If it doesn't, your phone is defective, if it does, then open GPS on com4 with baudrate 4800.
Take a look at the box at the bottom, make sure the GPS data is streaming. Click Cold Start and in the data streaming box it should say Done! and begin streaming again (this happens very quickly so watch for it).
Once this is done, minimize Gpsviewer (don't close it), and open Google Maps. Let it load, and then select Use GPS...it still may take a few minutes for the first lock, so just be very patient. (Some say on first lock it's taken up to 10 minutes).
If none of this works, you may just have a defective unit, in which case, just have sprint replace it due to the fact you're not using a custom rom.

Thanks for the info, I'll try GPSViewer later today. I have a feeling that I've been beating my head against the wall for something that's just plain broken on my phone, and if this confirms it, I'll replace the phone.
Thanks.
I am having no luck using the Gsat bt-359 GPs with my Gtablet.
I have blue gps droid running. The messages there are:
Choose bluetooth gps: current device: bt-gps-37bc92
blue tooth is on
Use sirf options(on)
In my system settings: blue tooth is turned on
set device name upc300-2.2
bt-gps-37bc92 ( paired but not connected)
Under Applications/Development I have enabled : allow mock locations.
My lights on the device have a blinking green and faster blinking blue.
Did I miss anything? I use googe maps and click my location and get: your current location unavailable.
I downloaded a program called Gps test and no data is received.
My tablet is not rooted but using factory defaults and updates. I have searched a bunch on this forum and I thought I was following the prescribed way to do this.
Well, I can't remember where in Blue gps options but I found an item where you turn off interior (?) gps and now it works. Oddly, that was one of the items I looked for earlier from what others have said to do, and couldn't find it.
Anyways, it works now.
Anyone know how I can acquire Copilot for android. I don't have access to the whole market it seems.
Go to "www(dot)alk(dot)com" for Co-Pilot though it may redirect you to the Android application.
Hi everyone, I used to have Fake GPS on my Asus Eee Pad TF-201 to fake my gps position, but now after removing it, my tablet's gps doesnt work anymore... it doesn't find any satellite even if I let it search for hours (with GPS Fix, GPS Status and apps like that).
the developer of the app wrote this as solution:
You have two options to do:
1st way:
Enable "Wireless/Network location provider" back
Install "GPS status" app from Google Play
Get a fresh GPS fix
Wait for 24 hours (may be less) until google updates your Wi-Fi access point's location (don't use Fake GPS during this time)
When you've got it and wish to continue using Fake GPS remember to DISABLE "Wireless/Network location provider" to avoid this issue in future
or
2nd way:
Add "_nomap" suffix at the end of your Wi-Fi access point name. E.g.: "JohnSmith" => "JohnSmith_nomap"
After that you can enable "Wireless/Network location provider" back without any future issues
This force google not to use your Wi-Fi access point to determine your location. But you may find that GPS stop working in your premises. So don't use this method unless you understand what you are doing clearly.
But it doesnt seems to work, since I can't get a "fresh GPS fix".
Any solutions? Thank you so much in advance
Fix
This happened to me as well after playing around with fake GPS apps
Simply restarting my phone seemed to solve the problem
Try downloading a GPS app called "Fake GPS Pro". Set a fake location and then click the red stop button.
Setting a location and clicking stop should remove the mock mode and enable your GPS
