Need ROM and Radio upgrade! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hello, I came over from the Kaiser section. I am looking for the newest stable ROM and radio for the Hermes. I was wondering what everyone else is using. I downloaded the Hard SPL v7 but I noticed there is a v9. Which should I use? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
jb

HardSPL7, version9 adds some features you will probably never need (as it is aimed on developers) and all of the hermes ROMs can be flashed without problems with v7. Just be sure you will flash it on Hermes (TyTN) and not Kaiser (TyTN 2) (flashing bootloader meant for different device will kill the device for good - only mainboard replacement will revive it again).

Hard SPL v7 is highly recommended as it works very well. Personally I like Schaps and Kin0Kin's rom. It's very stable and fast. Please make sure you had flashed hard SPL v7 before installing any rom and radio.

i was using Schap's and i was very happy with it untill i used TNT.SE, it is very fast, very stable and the battery life time is good, i will recommend TNT.SE as the first option, Schap's 4.22 as the second option......cheers

Have three hermes and have used Schap's 4.22 on one but just cracked lcd 2 days ago but was good ROM and have Black satin on one also good one and have just put TNT.SE on the last one and is great ROM and is a good one to start with, once I repair the LCD in #1 I will try KinoKins 1.30b and maybe pays rom as well as Schap's 4.31 as I am a flash addict. Be carful of some of some of the newer radios as there is some concerns of them causing no GSM issues.
By the way what did you do with the kaiser did it have an accident like my #1 or just not happy with the "flipper".

The best advice is: Try some of them and decide for yourself It depends very much on what you want...stable are the most of the newer ones...so have fun!
My opinion
I've tested most of all roms avaiable at the forum.
The S4V.19701.01 by Claudyfa (not the last version of Claudyfa's Roms) is very good. Very Stable with WIFI , Bluetooth and batery consuption is awesome. Try it,
best regards
pedrohex: are you using TMN or UZO? Did you already tested the latest version of S4V in your QTEK S200? That S4V looks very light edition... Coffee seems to have more stuff included with the rom.
I'm going to flash my qtek S200 but I was waiting for another ROM, the Coffee ROM 6.1PTG latest version that will be out in 2 weeks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355915
I would personally say, go for a light version, and add all the extras on that you need (but not too light!).
Does depend on if you want a definitive ROM, or you want to be changing every couple of weeks.
I settled on Korands WWE 3.1, and it's an excellent ROM, fast & stable. I havent't tried the most recent ROMs though...
I want a clean rom. And can i install the htc touch home later ?
Cloudyfas latest ROM is very clean and light. It is possible to install HTC Home on top!
Now my prophet got stuck on boot, and when i turn it on it always go to boot mode. What i do ?
in order to be helped, describe alll what you did before shi* happened. So people will be able to help you. Did you read carefuly the wiki and the step-by-step help threads?
DJ_Alex : I use both TMN and Vodafone.
I prefer claudyfas roms. Coffee by gullum are usually too slow because of excessive software (HTC Home, Htc Camera, Htc Something , Htc MoreSomething).
I like it simple and fast so S4V.19701.01 for me is very good.
The newer version has one thing i really dont like and i dont know how to disable : battery status at top with clock (i believe battery consuption is higher). Korand has good roms also , i've used till S4V release , only wm6 i think.
I Like to say this : "Simplicity is Divine"

Thanks for replying. uhmm so I will think if I go for that simple rom S4V or I go for another one as I need something in Portuguese, else, if I want to sell this phone, no one will buy it in english hehe.
Yekxmerr: Happy that you fixed your phone, what you did to fix it? I'm searching for a WM6.1 PTG rom, so I have to wait for gollum and maxsniper to release a new one in a couple of weeks.

Please help - Need to revert to original HTC 6.0 ROM

I'm having some trouble with one of the custom ROM's around here (not that it is not faster and richer than the original one but some applications are not working for me)
Could someone please help me revert to the original HTC 6.0 ROM?
I am using the 3.5SPL and so i guess this is why the HTC reflasher is not working
Also would radio version be a problem? I also have the latest radio version around; is this compatible with the old HTC 6.0 ROM?
Thanks !!

I don't think anyone has converted the official HTC 6 Rom to SPL3.5 but dheerajjuneja has slightly modified it
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2414269&postcount=25
If you want to go to the official rom you would have to use the spl downgrader (see the sticky links)
I think the official Roms reflash the radio so it wouldn't matter what radio you had
Why dont you try AP3
It is a good Rom and my wife has never found a need to change it

i've used AP3 before and it was a good rom.
But i'm trying to switch to something as plain and well tested as possible so that i stop having these random issues and incompatibilities (i'm on AP4 at the moment).
is there a way to revert the spl so that i can reflash the old rom?
thanks !

This is the link that Cmonex posted to downgrade SPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405604 off the rom links sticky.
Honestly if you are having troubles you put yourself at risk of a few problems reverting and I don't think it is worth it.
Use the AP3 for spl3.5 that I linked above and you should be sweet.
Make sure you remove your cards and do a hard reset before and fter you flash to make sure you have flushed all the settings that may be causing you issues.

SOLUTION n.1
1) Revert back to spl 1.2 following the instructions posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405604
2) Flash any 1.2 ROM
3) Flash the original HTC ROM using SSPL as explained in the same thread
ALL (SPL, RADIO, OS, SPLASH SCREEN, EXT_ROM) will be the original HTC
SOLUTION N.2
Flash the WWE SPL 3.5 HTC Rom modded from IRUS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390328 or from
dheerajjuneja (modded also fro blackberry connect) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2414269&postcount=25
SPL will stay unchanged, the OLINEX 3.5
Well, earlier this morning while having SPL3.5 on my device i tried to reflash my Athena with the stock HTC WM6 ROM to see what happens; normally that didn't work and left me unable to boot
Now i tried the SPL Downgrader, but i need a running OS to do that.
So i went to the bootloader, and tried installing two versions of AP 3.0 that i have to get a running OKS... The ROMs install just fine, but i'm stuck in a reboot loop that keeps taking me trough the "tap the screen to start using windows" and the AP 3.0 automatic os customization
is there a way to stop that from the loop?
how do you proceed to carry on from now on?
Also, what are the ROMS that can be installed straight from the bootloader like AP3? Maybe another ROM with no ROM customizations and automatic reboot?
Later Edit: Tried the Irus HTC WM6 SPL 3.5 ROM from the bootloader screen and it seems to be installing...
Keeping my fingers crossed
PS: I'm trying to find a thread to find out more about what is a SPL, what does it have to do with the OS and the boot mechanism in WM, anybody know a good resource for that?
OK, It seems i got there; after the Irus ROM, i use the SPL Downgrader and than reflashed the original HTC ROM, and voila !
I seem to have got the HTC WM6 ROM with 1.50 RADIO.
What more do i have to do to get "all-stock"?
Should i use a vanilla SPL1.2 installer to restore the original SPL (i think i'm running the 1.2 OliPro right now)
as a matter of fact, is there any reason to restore the original SPL?
And... is Radio 1.75 better than the 1.50 in terms of WIFI stability? WIFI performance seems to be rather bad
i need rom for htc s711
i need rom original for htc s711 version of onbl 1.25.0000 spl 1.25.0000 cpld 04

German HTC TyTN

OK now before U start cursing me, please hear me out first.
I have a HTC TyTN in German, and I can make squad out of it cause I don't understand this language. (it was a gift btw)
Now I have gone trough the manuals and trough wiki but for a total beginner like my self a lot of this stuff is confusing. So here is my plead:
Can anyone put in a small manual how to convert this German speaking HTC TyTN in to nice and understandable English one
Now when I do the OK+POWER+Reset stuff this is what shows up on the screen:
HERM200
IPL 1.00
SPL 1.06
The Phone Info on the other side shows this mambo jumbo:
ROM-version: 1.18.257.2
ROM-datum: 07/22/06
Funkempfangerversion: 1.03.03.10 (told U is in German)
Protokoll-version: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM-version: 1.18.257.8003
Now keep in mind this is the only place that I have found that has this kind of info so go easy on me.
Thank U kindly for any given help!

Have a look here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
First of all you will want to Sim/CID unlock your phone.
That is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Then flash HardSPL, to help make sure you dont brick your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Now, you can flash yourself a custom rom, or a shipped rom.
List of shiped roms:
WM6: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Available Original Shipped WM6 ROM Versions
A nice list of active cooked roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403963
Out of the cooked roms I like CRC's the best, I would go for 11.2 if you need 100% stability, or 12.8 normal if you don't mind a faster but "beta" rom, not that I have ever found his roms to be buggy.
PDACornerPro.V19's is also popular (Would recommend going for "RBSN" if you chose his)
And MRH's are more "loaded" roms cooked off CRC's.

Happy to help! Glad it worked for you! The first time is always the hardest!

Time to change to 6.1, new radio, manila... need help!

Hi, I own a Spanish Touch Dual (nike with 20 keys) since January and have some free time this weekend and since quite a long time I want to change it completely (it even needs a hard reset as it works quite slow now). I have read about hardspl, sspl, new ROMs, Manila... where can I start? I wanted to install a 6.1 Rom but it says that I need a 1.65 or higher radio version, I wanted to install Manila 2D also.... can you please help me? where do I start? Radio-> ROM -> Manila? is there any "howto"? I am completly lost! My nike is:
ROM version: 1.31.412.09 (10/30/07)
Radio: 1.58.16.27
WM 6
Identity: Niki100
Thanks a lot!
First you need to unlock your phone.. you can find out how in this forum, its stickeyd! then you need to choose a rom, either one with or without mannila 2d installed already. the flashing process is really easy and its all explaind in readme's.
To unlock, as far as I have understood:
First HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730)
Second SuperCID (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945)
Am I right?
Then go and try a ROM (I have downloaded a couple and no readmes, but I think its just a double click and go, right?). In the ROM is it included the Radio? I read about a ROM requiring to have already installed a >1.65 radio version, so I asume I have to install first a ROM.
Btw, which ROM do you suggest me with manila 2D and fast? Thanks a lot!
correct!
i'd flash a radio before a rom this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 im using (RUU Nike Radio 1.58.21.23S Modded)
then i highly recommend the lilly rom at the moment! very smooth and responsive.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2698902&postcount=4
I'd agree on that radio ROM; it's the one I'm using. I flashed to the LILLY ROM in my sig and then did the radio ROM - maybe that's the wrong way round, but it seemed to work!
Thanks a lot! Do u know if the Lilly ROM comes in several languages? (At least in Spanish)

How do I change the radio version?

I am trying to get TNT .20273 working on my G4, but my radio version is 2.30.11 and I heard this is why its not working correctly. I downloaded the T-Mobile 2.19.11, but I have Cingular...will this make a difference? Do I flash this like any other ROM? Do I need to flash this before or after I flash a new ROM?
Radio Rom is independent of any Rom/OS,it can be flashed to any device version or Rom/OS working on the phone,it has its own protocols (GSM) and doesn't include any IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) so it can easily and safely be flashed to any wizard device.
Secondly,as you have a G4 device and its CID locked,it can not be upgraded to any wm6 rom like TNT,unless you either upgrade through SoftSPL or HardSPL.
Thirdly, where have you heard, since you have radio version is 2.30.11 and its cause for not getting the phone upgraded to TNT Rom ? As I said above,Radio Rom has got nothing to do with ROM/OS.Yes! you can flash Radio Rom 2.19.11,it doesn't matter if you have a Cingular.
Wm6 Roms like TNT will certainly flash regardless of which version of Radio Rom you have at the present
Hi guys,
This forums are just great!
Is there any "recommended" radio version? I've heard there are some old ones but I just wonder if upgrading it would really make any difference about the phone's reception.
I've noticed there are now two ways to flash new ROMs, hard and soft SLP, which one is best? My phone is already SIM unlocked but I want to load Slim Diamond WM 6.1.
Thanks in advance for your comments and help.
Well I got TNT .20273 "working", but I was always getting missed calls and texts and whenever I would soft reset I would get like 10 cannot load blah blah file and I read somewere it was because the radio version I had. Plus I heard 2.19.11 was the best with no dropped calls and such.

First determine which version is your phone,G3 or G4,its very important, coz method for flashing a rom is altogether different for both the devices.
HardSPL and SoftSPL are solely meant to flash a G4 device and shud not be done for a G3 phone, likewise CID unlocking method for a G3 phone, through lokiwiz02b or WST_4.2.2 Tool, shud not be carried out on a G4 device.
You need to do alot of reading to understand all these methods,So..... get going!!! or else you might end up 'Bricking" your phone

ok so you said that. i'd like to say, i have a g3 with radio 02.25.11 and i'm fixin to use a multitude of different roms i've found here .. some with touch flow, others are this and that. but none of them say anything about radio roms or compatibility or dropped call count. so my question to you is, will this radio rom i have make a difference? am i going to have to change radio roms or no?
This is the G4 subforum
Radio 2.19.11 is recommended.
Thanks a lot zabardast_1!
I did the reading and the upgrade. Evertyhing went great and my wizard is now running WM 6.1 and working great.
I do have a follow up question though. I noticed there are different ROMs and the today screen looks different (the way the clock is shown, the icons available, etc).
Is there any way to change the way things look without changing the ROM?
Thanks again!
