Simple today screen call timer - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

I would like a simple today screen plugin that will just show up the data from the device call timer (which can be found in: Call History->Menu->Call Timers)
Nothing more, nothing less! So that you can check at a glance how much you have spend since last reset of the counter.
Maybe this is so simple we could do it by ourselves, but I have no clue of programming

Minute Minder Software or Setting?

Is there any sort of program (or setting in WM2003) that acts as a minute minder when using the phone ? Have not been able to locate actual setting in WM2003, but maybe I overlooked (?)
while in a call hold down the green button then look at the screen and count the minutes each time the clock changes lol
try yahoo/google for xda minute minder s/w might have it on somewhere
Try PhoneDashboard from Hudson Mobile. This will track your usage of free/used minutes against your mobile plan/tariff. It is a Today screen plug-in with various reports to show breakdowns. Works well.

Minute Minder
Thanks for the input.
Actually, I was looking for some sort of program that would "beep" every 50 seconds or so I knew that my phone call was approaching one minutue (my old Samsung had feature like this). TIA

TP will wake up from standby by itself

When my phone is in the holster, or when charging, it automatically comes out of standby mode every so often. I don't know why it keeps doing that, but it has done it so much that I had to turn on the Lock feature on so the buttons don't get accidently pushed when in my holster etc (very annoying). I spoke to a friend who said it might be a program running in the background that keeps making the phone come out of standby because it doesn't happen to his TP. But the running programs list only has Text, and Calendar always open so I doubt its those that's causing.
Any ideas on how to solve this really annoying issue? And does anyone else experience this?
Note: My carrier is Sprint and I have no custom ROM's)

You will find that the Lock feature isn't really going to be any help either because the sliding of the keyboard will a) Wake the phone up and b) Unlock it as well if it slides more.
You can make this registry edit to make it so the slide doesn't wake up the phone. Now, when you get a text message or email (I think) the phone will wake up but as long as you don't slide it more than about half an inch, the phone won't unlock.
You should be using the lock feature on your phone anyway. If you haven't figured it out yet, you can make the "Long End key press" lock the phone. It works very well to make locking the phone quick and easy. Then you can either use the push button method to unlock OR side the phone open to unlock.

I guess I didn't phrase it right...I mean when the phone is just sitting there and the keyboard is not opening at all because it is sitting on a desk charging, no text or e-mail message go in or out, bluetooth not connected, and no alarms, or events pop up the phone comes out of standby...same scenario in my belt holster.
True I should be using the lock feature but I like to set the timer to 5 or 10 minutes but sometimes it comes out of standby before then.

Interesting... You are really burning up your battery (if not plugged in) letting it not go into standby for 5-10 minutes but I wonder if it some other data transmission. What is your email interval set at? Even if no emails are received, it's still sending a data "pulse" to the server.
I have te same issue (Alltel Touch Pro)
I leave the phone on the charger overnite, and sitting by itself,
even with Lock on, it will wake up, stay up the timeout period,
then go back to sleep. Like it has Sleep Apnea?
I do email by webmail so that's not an issue.

mrrogers: What I meant was I like the Lock on feature to come on after 5-10 minutes...it is already in standby mode, but the lock feature is not activated until 5-10 minutes (look inside your lock settings and you will see what I mean) so I am not draining the battery.....e-mail interval is set at 4 hours so it can't be that. Even if it was that, the screen should not wake up just for sending data in or out.
fuzzynco: YES I have the same problem...its as if the phone does not want to sleep. It stays up for the timeout period then goes back to sleep then turns on again a few minutes later for no apparent reason...but for me it also comes out of standby even when not being charged.
I suppose mine might do it too then, I guess I never notice because I plug in to charge and go to sleep. :-D
I am going to test this out tonight and see what my phone does. I am running a custom Rom so who knows what might happen. I thin something that also could mask the fact that this is happening to me is that my backlight and power setting are 30sec and 1min.
If I'm not doing something on my phone, it is locked. Unlocking is so simple I don't bother with timing the locking event. I think you must use the actual "Password" protection right? I do not use that feature but I know the settings you are referring to. I have only been referring to the device lock.

My backlight and power settings are the same as yours.
I didn't understand your last paragraph. All I have enabled is my "lock" feature in the settings. The system lock with password is enabled after 5 minutes, but that doesnt mean it takes 5 minutes to go into standby mode. Standby mode is seperate, and it only takes 30 sec to go to standby. But after 5 minutes of standby, the "lock" feature with password is enabled.
My problem is that before that 5 minute mark, the screen comes out of standby for no apparent reason.
I'll chime in here. Verizon Touch Pro. Haven't really done much to it, but a few advanced config settings. Mine will wake up in the holster, and even when it's just sitting there on the desk charging. I only let the screen stay on for a short time, so I haven't seen my battery suffer, but this happens enough to be annoying.

exactly stanton! same thing with me...My screen is only set for a short time so I haven't seen battery loss but very annoying. Any theories out there?
Mine does it as well Sprint TP
I think all Windows mobile phones pretty much do this.
No idea why, but there's really nothing you can do about it.
I have been testing this evening and I can't get my phone to do it. I've been testing on battery power and will try plugged in tomorrow during the day.
Are you guys using TF3D? I'm not so I wonder if it might be something tied in there? Weather? Maybe some crazy update in the music tab?
Wish I could have helped... I'll check in tomorrow and report what I find on external power.
Long time lurker, here...
I seem to remember a similar issue with the XV6600 (Blue Angel) that was traced back to some settings having to do with the syncing with Exchange servers. My memory is kind of fuzzy on the issue, but that could be a place to start to look?
I've had my Vz TP for about a week now and have not had that issue.
Check Pocket Express. By default, it's set to update itself every 4 hours (at least on the Sprint TP).
My TP was doing the same thing (ie: coming out of Sleep on it's own). That, and the Data Connection wouldn't stay turned off. I don't like my computers and phones doing anything without my expressed permission so this was driving me nuts. Since I found the Pocket Express setting and set it to manual, my phone doesn't misbehave anymore.
Another setting you might want to look at is the QuickGPS settings. It will automatically try to update itself too. I changed mine to "Remind me when data expires" and "Auto download when connected to PC via ActiveSync" and that works best for me.
Basically, you have to go through every one of your apps and check their configurations. The two I mentioned above are definite sources of your problem but there could be others.
Pete
I havent had my VZW tp do that yet. But i see its doing it on all 3 CDMA companies. I wonder if its a glitch in the hardware or the data settings that makes it do that. I dont run any email through my phone. I wonder if the email is the cause of its insomnia.
I have the same issue whether on a stock or Custom ROM.
Not sure about effects on battery. Never really gaged it. I always get 24 to 36 hours before I have to recharge.
Its not a program in the background. I just created a clean ROM with nothing in it and it still does it.

Im pretty sure its the HTC APM 1.5 drivers.
Any other thoughts?
I didnt see any problems with the TP waking up on any of the GSM versions.
I am curious as what would be different that would cause this.
My sprint pro also does this.
Ill have it in my hand and the screen will just turn on. Not sure why.

Clock problem:Alarms going off that are not set, seen this anyone?

Hey guys,
I have been running this version of DCD's ROM for a very long time now basically because it has worked well and been stable for me, but the other day I noticed an anoying thing happen that I wonder if anyone has seen and maybe solved. I use my unit as my primary alarm clock and have set 1 of the 3 alarms to 9:00PM to get me up for work, another for 9:00AM for a daily conferance call, and the 3rd for 10:00PM to be sure I do not sleep too late for work. From time to time I have changed times and text titles for the alarms and all worked well until the other day when I set it to go off at 2M just for 1 day to get remind me of a phone call I had to make, which it did nicely, but then when I changed that alarm back to it's old settings it assumed the identity and time I set for it, but now every day at 2:00PM that alarm still goes off and I can not make it stop doing that because the entry is no longer there. Also I told it to stop the 9:00PM work wakeup alarm and it still goes off at 9:00PM even if I set that entry totally different. I have even shut off all alarms and set the sound to another sound, but still they persist. I have looked in the registry and found the clock utility and where it stores the 3 alarms and they change like they are supposed t, and there is no listings for these rouge alarms anywhere in the entire registry. Anyone seen this ?????? Thanks. I will continue to tweak on it and let yoy know if I find or fix it.
Are you running Home Customizer? This happened to me about two months ago and I re-installed the HC and the mystery alarms went away.

Sprint Touch Pro data connection issues

I've owned a Touch Pro for a few months now and overall it's a good device. It has its quirks, but then again what phone doesn't? There is one problem in particular, however, that I can't seem to figure out. I've searched up and down in XDA Forums, and on Google, and I just can't find out a fix for my data connection always turning on for no reason. I have all my e-mail accounts set to "manual send / recieve", the weather program set to "update weather manually", and as far as I know there are no other programs on my phone that have access to the internet without my permission.
The problem I have is sometimes I will wake my phone up from its sleep mode, and I will discover that the data connection is active and appearing to be transmitting. Also, EVERY time I restart my phone and it goes through the boot process, the data connection will re-activate even before TouchFLO 3D opens up on the today screen. It's really annoying, because I have no idea what's causing it to do this, or why it does it at random times, or whenever I reset my device.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I hate having to manually go in periodically and make sure my data connection is set to "off", instead of having it stay that way when I set it.
So no help on this one then?
I don't have a solution but I can help by bumping your thread and saying I have the same problem on Verizon. I was at a friend's place all weekend, and he has wifi all over, so I turned off data and used his wifi instead. Well sure enough all weekend my data connection kept turning itself back on. It seemed to happen only when going into sleep mode. So I kept the phone plugged in so it would never totally "sleep". Wifi stayed connected with no data connection starting automatically. Annoying especially considering the 5 GB data limit on the PDA plan.
Well I'm glad I'm at least not alone on this one. It's weird too that even though your device is on a different carrier, it still does the same thing. I wonder if it's a hardware issue?
I know that someone has to have an answer for this...
go into pocket express and press menu then go to express settings then on the top left theres a pulldown press it and go into auto updates and turn it off.. pissed me off when i got the phone.. couldnt find a fix till i started going through all the programs to find the one doing it.. and it was the stupid Pocket Express
I have had my MDA Compact V for a few months now, and it's only recently that I've had the same problem. Each time I switch on, my data connection starts or alternatively if I loose signal then get it back then I see my data connection is on again. Thankfully I have the Solo 20 package with unlimited net usage (although you're are limited to 1Gb/month) but it drains my battery really badly.
I went through every possible setting and program to switch off location settings or auto downloads/updates and I still have the same problem, but I downloaded Data Controller v1.00 from Freewarepocketpc.net and I can toggle my data connection on or off as I please.
Heres what you need
Install below cab, then use the NODATA app, select what you want off, PHONE AS MODEM and DATA are your two options I believe... Your data will never come back on... until you re-enable it that is....
PS... THIS IS NOT MY CAB, THIS IS SOMETHING I FOUND WHEN TRYING TO ADDRESS THESAME PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING. THIS CAB WAS DOWNLOADED FROM MoDaCo BUT I DONT HAVE THE LINK... ALL RESPECTS GO TO HIM... I AM JUST SHARING WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME IN THE PAST...
Seems it's one or the other
What sucks is on my Sprint HTC touch pro 2 (cdma), I was having a problem where I couldn't answer calls all the time, but sometimes I could, and eventually found that it was always when the data connection was showing active is when I couldn't answer a call. But when that was happening, my data connection would turn back off after a few seconds when I was done using it. It was driving me crazy not being able to answer my calls and I finally found a post that let me correct that problem, it was changing the HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume value that fixed this problem... the value of this registry setting was originally "GPRS_bye_if_device_off". This setting made it so the data connection would turn off when not being used, but it apparently messes up cdma phones from being able to switch over to answer an incoming phone call if the data connection is active. I changed this registry entry to "#777" as the post said to do, and sure enough, that corrected the problem with being able to answer my calls if the data connection is active. I'm real happy to have that working now, but when I changed this setting, my data connection is now always showing active (white arrows showing in status) and even if I turn it off manually, it comes on by it's self way more often than the every 4 hours I have it set to check emails.
There is a registry setting called CacheTime under the same Settings key as the above mentioned registry entry that I changed, that when the "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" value is used, the CacheTime key value will indeed control how long the data connection stays on before automatically turning off. But When I change the Entry to "#777" which is necessary to allow me to answer calls when data is active, then changing the CacheTime value has no effect and the data connection stays on until you manually turn it off.
I'd like to find a way to turn the data connection off, while still not messing up me being able to answer calls when the data connection is active, and seems to me that if both of these things can be done separately with two different registry settings, that it must be possible to do both.... so if any of you tech wizards can find a way to do this, I'd love to see it!
Possible Fix?
Hey, I have noticed the same problem. It is annoying from a battery life aspect as well as a system slowdown when coming out of sleep. I could not find much of a workaround except one of the settings in TD3 Tools I installed. In the "Data Connection" tab you can yurn on an option that makes your "End" key also terminate an active data connections. So if you hit it after waking your phone you won't have the annoying slowdown with your Sense UI...

CM10 superlite: Screen lock on active call, requires battery removal.

Howdy,
I'm currently running CM10 superlite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180695 I have installed the bluesleep fix, but on reading all the information about that, this problem seems separate anyway.
Every time there is an active call, my screen locks as though the prox sensor has been tripped, and the screen will not unlock by any means other than battery removal. This is only while the call is active. If, say, the other person ends the call, I can unlock the screen with the power button as normal. The phone is not sleeping, the screen(and seemingly all input methods) is simply being disabled during the call. I had a call open for 2 hours this weekend because neither of us hung up. I only found out 2 hours later when I took the phone out of my pocket and heard him talking to his wife. hah!
It happens instantly when a call is picked up. No delay, no proximity activation required. When making a call, it happens the very moment you press the "send/call" button. I am trying very hard to remember if this has been happening since I installed the ROM, but can't be positive. I just installed it about a week ago, and can't for the life of me remember if I accessed my voice-mail during that time, prior to today(when trying to delete a message became an issue), but I'm 90% I didn't, meaning this has likely been happening since the install.
I have tried manually increasing the min cpu speed, but, this fix seems to be for a sleep problem, which this doesn't seem to be. It had no effect. All other threads that describe similar problems are either about different ROMs, and/or appear to be about actual sleep mode issues.
I am very happy with this ROM(this issue aside), and have spent a considerable amount of time tweaking and installing things that I really do not feel like doing again. I'm not the type of person who enjoys flashing their phone every other day.
Thanks in advance.
*updated info*
It seems that either using a headset or plugging one in will prevent/fix this problem. It keeps the screen from locking when making a call, and will unlock it if you are already on a call with the screen locked and unresponsive rear/volume buttons. Technically I used headphones, not a headset, but I am guessing it's the same mechanism.
I have tried adjusting any setting related to headsets and screen locking that I can find within the call settings, and anywhere else I can find one that looks related. No luck. Only workaround is plugging in my headphones... which I don't always carry.
