I have successfully turned a cab file into an OEM for cooking and it actually worked.

Thanks for that info! I was tried to create an OEM but got about halfway. The screen that popped up that said you have canceled making the package threw me off. Have your tried OEMizer? I think it is easier to use and understand but I have some CAB files it couldn't package like Slingbox.cab.

For some reason, I seem to get better results with PackageCreator. Once you get used to it...it's pretty easy...

I see in thyou are using picture that you are using pakage creator 5.5.
Is it possible to share it with us as i find it difficult to find the version you use.
Thanks and regards

PackageCreator ??
Would you be able to post a link for PackageCreator 5.5? It would be nice to have the latest and greatest.

Thanks,
I finally got a work OEM.
Way easier than OEMizer

Have you had any success creating a working OEM package for MS Voice Command 1.6. I've created the OEM folder, but once installed on the phone, I get errors saying it needs to be reinstalled. I must be missing some registry settings or something. Does Package creator look at the cab and see what registry changes are nesseccary?

I use the Voice Command 1.6 OEM (and many others) from the Apache kitchen's PPC_Geeks_OEM.rar. It (and the others) work just fine on my Sprint PPC-6800.

yes, version 4.91. do a search on threads about blackberry and athena words.
Yes, there was a guy that got it working. I think he even got it working on the latest Athena Project ROM by PK. Just an FYI...not sure if the ROM had anything to do with it or not.

Here you have:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1420252&postcount=302
you have to extract from the rom the os.nb, with nbextract. Later do the edit of the file looking for the HTC-Athena and change into HTC-Hermes. Next step is introduce this file in your Athena, do a hard reset and job done.

Thanks for that. Only problem (and I may be really thick here) is that I can't find NBExtract or any of the other tools I need to do the job. I think I will wait for the time being before going to WM6. Being a noob at Rom hacking (but fairly technical generally) i think I need a little more info before i take a working wm5 Athena and hope I can get it working on WN6 with Blackberry connect

I guess this means unlocking the device in order to flash it, unless you use your own CID's image. Has anyone flashed an HTC branded device? If so, could you be kind enough to upload the resulting ROM that includes BBC?
Thanks.

It's very risky to share this class of files. And modificate a rom is very easy, you should try it. It is not difficult.
Where to find the tools?

try my kitchen it has a oem package creator
BTW, you can just add the cabs if you want. But you'll have to wait for them to install. Usually, you'd turn it into an OEM using oemizer, which you can search for if it's not in your kitchen. Well, most packages are available in OEM or CAB, and you'd just download the OEM. However, most third party apps are only available as CABs.

First thanks for the packages, I got most of the things I liked to include in my ROM.
I am also getting the same screen, I am using DaG's latest 5.08 and then I am using the "PACKAGE_Raphael_PhoneCanvas_Slider" package from your Packages.rar. Can you please tell me what other packages should I add?

For AT&T dialer:
PACKAGE_Raphael_PhoneCanvas_Slider_ATT
PACKAGE_Raphael_VideoShare_CWS_ATT
and maybe the PTT package.
For HTC Dialer:
PACKAGE_Raphael_PhoneCanvas_Slider
PACKAGE_Raphael_VideoTelephony
That should do the trick.

I am sorry to hear about the blurgallery incompatibility but i am glad that i could help. You are welcome, bud.
Thanks for the "thanks". It's much appreciated.
Btw, i read a lot about Adb and Adb shell.....where can i get them from? I tried the android market but it's not there. Tried googling it up (maybe i missed it) but it took me to the Android SDK download.
Thanks for your reply in advance.
the android sdk is the main place to DL them.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
be sure to read up on some of the commands you can do with it. its commands that are run through a DOS prompt or a terminal on the device that you can grab on the market.
Im a bit inexperienced with it as well it can get complex.

Yeah i think both have the same filename too (blur gallery) probably have similar ties. while the bell rom uses a different type of gallery similar to the 2.2 one. :/
Forgot I had my usb cable with me...so here is the odex file from the blurgallery (orange fr)...hope it helps.
thanks, still couldn't get it to install. must not be doing it correctly, if it is all possible.
Here are the screenshots of the version thats on the bell rom. its laggy in its animations as well.

You can't just put the zip file in original_update. Kitchen has to be configured for your device, or it will not work. I'd like to know how to do that as well.

OK then, if it isn't necessary to configure the kitchen for your device, then how can you make it work with your device? I am just a NOOB, let's make that perfectly clear. However, I followed the directions to the letter, and read up on the kitchen before trying it. I had no success using the kitchen to create a rom that I could successfully flash.
I thought that I would have to do something with the edify defs files first, adding my device before it would work. I just never got that far yet (I only play with this part time, when I have a chance to do so.) If I don't have to add my device, and you have some idea what I may have done wrong, please enlighten me. I obviously need the help. Thanks!

You put any custom ROM for your device in there, configure it for that file (meaning that show it the file you're working on), replace it's system folder with the stock deodexed system folder.
Now, you're ready. Do your modifications. Add features. Build. Zip
Now, the important part.
Kitchen updater-script doesn't work on our device in some case. Use any custom ROM updater-script (with permission and credit), and voila!
There is a complete guide on it in Development section too.

I have tried the kitchen with my phone before, (LG Spectrum/VS920), and the ROMS generated by it will not work. It has something to do with the "edify defs" file I believe. I read it somewhere before in these forums. If your device isn't supported, it has to be added, or at least that's what I've come to understand. If someone can point me in the right directrion (adding my phone so it is supported by the kitchen), I'd appreciate it greatly.
