Please check my intended upgrade... - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

OK...from the beginning...
I managed to get an o2 xda 2,it is the first time I have ever seen a pda up close let alone owned one!!
The details for the device are:-
Model No: PH10B
Rom Ver: 1.03.00 usa
Rom Date: 09/24/03
Radio Ver: 1.05.12
Protocol Ver: 1337.12
Microsoft Pocket PC Ver: 420.1081 (Build 13100)
At present locked to O2 UK (I am in UK)
I want to primarily use this with Tomtom in the car.I installed TT 5.021 ok but could not get it (TT) to connect with my Holux slim.I guess that the pda is pretty much as was original,so could maybe benefit from an upgrade.
A member over at AVForums suggested this Forum,so here I am .
As you may appreciate, there are many very long threads on here, and after awhile,it makes my brain ache ,but I hope I have gleaned what is necessary.
Anyway,my proposed upgrade:-
1. Unlock with OLD xda2unlock
2. TOFCLOCK HIMA WM6 AKU.0.7.0
CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0)
Radio Ver: 1.17 at the same time (put in same folder as Rom I believe)
3. Run Patched/Fixed/Updates
Fixed MMS Client or Patch If Already Installed:
Arcsoft MMS Client 4.2.8.1 (new Install)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54673552....8.1_Fixed.rar
MMS Patch1 (If you already install the packed one with picture issues, install and softreset)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54672723/MMS_Patch1.rar
New File Explorer (WM6 Explorer by dutty)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54679305/FileExplorer.rar
4. Install any Add-0ns.
Is this all I need to do?
Any particular order,or in the order I have written?
I didn't find much about bootloaders...does that need to be updated, and if so how and which one where?
If I have misunderstood, and there is more to do,points to watch out for or missed please advise...any and all help is much appreciated.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this...
.

not sure about your gps but if it's wired all you have to do may be
to disable auto recieve beams to free out that com port
there is no general issue with older roms and gps's
could just be a setup issue

Thanks,already done that.It's a B/Tooth Holux GPSlim 236,not wired.

All these different ROM upgrades for Himalayas

So there are a lot of different ROM's out there...official, unofficial, hacks, etc. on every thread.
Does anybody want to compile a list/chart of what versions are floating around and what versions their Himalayas are running( have run, if you've upgraded) and does it work for them? Maybe we can eventually get a db together with all the different ones out there to share. I have a few( none applied though).
For example:
Me I-mate PPC PE( fill in your version XDAII, MDAII, Qtek2020, etc)
Rom version:1.03.00USA
Rom Date:9/24/03
Radio Version: 1.05.12
Protocol version:1337.12
ExtROM version: 1.03.20
Language: English
Official? :yes
Upgraded? : no
Works for you: for now.
Or add their $0.02 and other categories to compile a list.
I-mate PPC PE
Rom version:1.52.00WWE
Rom Date:10/23/03
Radio Version: 1.06.01
Protocol version:1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.52.83
Language: English
Official :Yes
Upgraded : Yes
Works for you: Upgrade worked, but having bad battery life and signal problems ever since...
Hey hachepe, since you have the original ROMs still, could you backup them up off of your device, (OS, Radio, Ext, etc..). I'm thinking of downgrading.... (here some links on how, though I've never done it)

Thanks
I went from the official Imate rom that came with it to the official 1.52 version. Unit is faster, NO BATTERY PROBLEMS, or low signal problems, fixes for the (+) problem in the inbox program , msn messenger update , mms fix , Bluetooth profile fix for BT headset, much better signal, quick radio off mode. No issues VERY glad I updated.
Qtek 2020
Qtek 2020, went from an old US rom to the Tmobile 1.60 then to the new Qtek Rom from Dangaard after struggeling with the country id error:
Version: 1.60.00WWE
Date: 12.03.03
Radio version: 1.06.01
Protocol: 1337.16
ExtRom: 1.60.21
I like the Qtek rom better since it doesn't include the predefined setup of MMS an so on...

Can we have more detail about this?
MDA II, upgraded the original German ROM (don't know the version number, I think 1.30) to the T-Mobile 1.60 NL (non official version). MDA is now in English, can't compare since I upgraded immediatly after purchase. Waiting with the Dangaard 1.60 upgrade.
Here is my config...
Qtek 2020
Rom version:1.52.00FRA
Rom Date:10/23/03
Radio Version: 1.05.12
Protocol version:1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.52.02
Language: French
Official :Yes
Upgraded : No
Waiting for French upgrade... or perhaps might migrate to english ROM if no French version planified.

Subject: Qtek 2020 Support?
Importance: High
Hi,
I recently bought a QTek 2020 from a French online retailer (CDiscount).
This is a great device. Unfortunately, I can't find any kind of online
support for this device... Indeed, several HTC distributors (for instance
those that distribute XDA II or i-Mate - which are the same devices than
QTek 2020) are offering online support for their device (ROM update,
Software update, etc.).
What about QTek 2020 support? There is no area dedicated to QTek 2020 on
your web site. Moreover, your web site is unintelligible for foreigners...
Could you please give me a way to get the same kind of services than you
competitors?
Thanks in advance for your answer and Happy New Year!
Regards,
Guillaume

To Guillaume:
You hit the point! Every retailer has to provide support for Qtek?
This is totally unfair. However, to be honest, Dangaard people is allowing the download of Qtek specific ROM without much of a question... for now.
I accepted an exchange from i-mate to Qtek, because my seller (Expansys) was sold out on I-mate, and claimed the device was the same (it is in fact) but no statement was made about support.
my config:
Qtek 2020
Originally 1.03.00 USA upgraded to T mobile ROM 1.60.00 WWE
ROM date 12/03/03
Radio version 1.06.01
Protocol version 1337.16
Ext ROM Version 1.60.06
Fortunately no problems about country ID, although I'm dealing with some minor bugs:¿Maybe another data base on ROM version specific problems?
1.- T-mobile 1.60, looks much faster than my Qtek original one (phone being the best part) although some minor bugs are there, some old, some new.
2.- I had to hard reset the machine more often to get rid of some bugs, the most annoying being The menu text font changing itself to white without apparent reason. Depending of your background theme, it becomes unreadable (T-mobile theme for instance) Seems related to trying new themes.
3.- PC message about USB port unrecognized.
4.- Refusal to sync notes. (This is my most recent one)
5.- My recurrent and permanent bug: week view on calendar (7 days, monday first) if today happens to be Sunday, every tap on the "go to today" button takes me to the NEXT week. Can anyone confirm this is PPC 2003 or XDAII/ROM specific? (Just change the date to the next sunday and tell me please)
6.- Both Brightness settings set themselves to ZERO, while working on the PDA. This is an awfull one, I thought I've lost my XDAII backlight! Until I found my way to the menu and settings, I wasn't able to recover the backlight. Try to do that on a poor light environment WITHOUT any backlight, (blaming the manufacturer and guessing who would fix it altogether) and you'll know what I'm talking about.
7.- And my final wish: When the BT Handsfree profile for my carkit?
:?:

2. Had also probs with changing themes.
3. I installed the most recent ActiveSync version from the Microsoft site, even before I connected the MDA II for the first time, so no probs with that.
4. Works fine here.
5. Tried this out, no prob, works fine.
6. Unknown problem here.
I do have problems with ActiveSync locking up from time to time. Then I have to kill it with taskmanager and restart it.
Hope this helps,

Major problem with Qtek 1.60.21 (original 1.60.21 ExtRom). XDA2 will soft reset when a wav file is opened via file explorer. In one occassion it froze completely and cannot be revived by soft reset. Only after hard reset and removing the battery the XDA came back (for a while the PDA did'nt respond even to hard resets).
After extended ROM was re-flashed using moded custom Tmobile/O2 extrom, the wav file problem disappeared. Plus I was able to get the SPB GPRS monitor and my precious O2 bubbles.
PS: I used RPC's hexediting method to modify Thariman's custom ms_.nbf
and the GPRS "auto off"?
I had the original O2 1.03 and upgraded to Tmobile 1.6
Now the GPRS turns itself off after every use. very annoying.
I understand different versions have this set differently,
or anyone knows a reg key?!
which version should I get (English) to solve this?

THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Just moved to Dangaard ROM. Seems to go far better, although bugs seem to be the "essence" of XDA Software.
BTW with item 5, would you mind set for a moment Regional language to Spanish (Traditional sort) and make a try on the "sunday" bug. I've been unable to get rid of this, and it's my 3th ROM! My last shot is this is related to Language. (Note: week view on calendar, 7 days week, monday first, and today is Sunday... tap takes you to Monday next week!
Thanks a lot!

New I-Mate Rom: 1.66.167 WWE - WM03 Second Edition???

I know. Thanks!
Last time when I was upgrading my I-Mate, the difference between Arabic and English versions was only in sku1 and sku2.
And now, do you think they changed minor version just to show the Arabization incorporation to ExtRom?
For those who download Arabic version: Please, provide some device info (rom, radio and ext, ppc) after this (167) upgrade. Thanks in advance!
From www.clubimate.com
The latest upgrade to the i-mate™ Pocket PC is now available for download in both English and Arabic versions. It includes the security fix for MSN® Messenger, configuration settings for the Bluetooth Serial Port profile, improvements in handling SMS and the latest radio version.
The upgrade will erase all existing information on your device. It is strongly recommended that you synchronise your Contacts, Callender, Mail and Tasks to your PC before updrading your device.
The details of the ROM image are:
Rom version 1.66.00wwe
Radio version 1.10.00
To find out what ROM version you have, and if you then need to install this ROM upgrade, you can go to your Start menu, select Settings, then select the 'System' tab and tap on Device Information.

WM2003SE for Qtek 2020

Is there someone who prepared a WM2003SE for a QTEK 2020. I really want to do it myself but it seems that it doesn't work at me. I live in Belgium and we don't have such great operators as O2
Please help me because I really want to use it also. Is it possible to upload it? There are a lot of Belgian users who also want to use it, but there is even no Qtek-site for us.......
Thanks in advance
You can try this one?

I am installing it now, i have a m1000 and using a O2 rom for quite a while now... (flashed already couple of 3/4 different rom in my phone )...
I use er2003edit to change the operater id's... It works great!
(i am from holland...)
if you need help you may try to contact me at msn ([email protected])...

oeh, dunno if this is a 2003se upgrade (will see in a couple of minutes...)...
my source of that link is

dammit, i need to register, again an edit:
i gave wrong link in the first post:

this is where i downloaded this file:
HI_TMNL_17200_190_11700_Ship.exe
Yes, Roeleke,
You can upgrade to release 1.72.00.WWE for a Qtek 2020 Belgian retail. I've done it a week ago. I'm using a Qtek 2020 with Proximus.
The upgrade rom was placed on the resellers site. I downloaded it and it was an .exe file. Just run, be patient - it least an half an hour - and your Qtek is running up to date.
If you have problems to get your update, please contact.
Greetings,
Jean

it's not 2003SE though
just plane 2003
RUU172602WWE_Belgian_Shipping.exe has been on the ftp a long time now, and yes : it's not SE.
Radio is 1.14
and a few things in the extended ROM can/should be updated:
CallerID,Camera,MIDI
I finally got round to upgrading my belgian Qtek2020 to 2003SE
Code:
Rom Version 2.06.00WWE (Qtek)
Rom Date 06/14/04
Radio Version 1.18.00 (Qtek)
Protocol Version 1337.38
ExtRom version 2.06.M4io (Qtek)
Downloaded it from here a long time ago, so don't know the exact thread.
Everything in my extrom can be found in the forums, but i can attach them if people want it.
I did change the Cabs (removed HTC/customize reg key) so they all appear separately on "remove Programs". And I put my name on the splash screens.
Extrom :
Code:
ExtendedROMUnlocker.arm.CAB => Name says it all
Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB => Photo Contacts 1.20 including ringtone assignment
CamereRC16_Hima2_WWE.CAB => Camera ver 2.50
CameraRC16_Streaming_reg.CAB => more stuff for camera
MMS_v2.0.0.13_BA_WWE_0831.CAB => MMS Addin (mms now handled by inbox, I haven't sent/received any yet)
battery_OU_081304.sa.CAB => nice, small battery in taskbar add in
Version_OU.sa.CAB => only put the extrom version in Reg
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB => Mamaich phone contacts button
JAVA_PPC_10.1.0.17_HIMA_WWE(unremovable).CAB => Tao Java support for PPC
MIDI561.sa.CAB => soundhandler definitions (wma, mp4, 3gp)
VideoMMSB21.sa.CAB => Video mms made easy
GB_SOFT_Tweak.PPC2003_ARM.CAB => GPRS Control panel addon
BE_retail_V4_WWE.sa.CAB => Settings for Proximus/Mobistar GPRS/MMS
regedit.CAB => PHM Regeditor, nice, free but no import
CheckNotifications.CAB => fix for bug in Eventnotifications Database
SMSDeliv.ARM.cab => same as dorucenka.ARM.cab => Set SMS delivery report default on
Remarks so far :
+ looks nice, Landscape is nice, but TomTom 3 does not support landscape
+ I like the incorporation of MMS in Inbox (could be that it works on 2003 also, but haven't tried)
+ seems faster, but could be that just after upgrade it is always faster.
- Bluetooth Profile on today screen becomes invisible sometimes, but i moved it up under Owner information and I can still check/uncheck it when it is invisible
+ my bt handsfree/headset works fine (I still don't know the difference between headset and handsfree ) but i can pickup, speak, hear & hangup with it.
+ my bt GPS Holux works fine.
+ TomTom works even better with BT gps than with 1.72 where (on my device) it hung when GPS receiver was not on.
I didn't test much with it, so don't blame me if you do the same and are not happy with it.

Imate Pocket PC Phone Edition - Unlocked but still Telstra

I'm a newbie to Pocket PC, so this may be silly, but been hunting around this forum all day and unable to get things straight in my head.
My problem is this...
I have a i-mate pocket PC I purchased 2nd hand from ebay. Has Telstra's config stuff all thought it (inc splash screen).
Im connected with Vodafone, and I've just enabled GPRS, but I cant seem to connect. I think its all to do with all this Telstra stuff thats in my PDA, and so I started looking into Roms, and the extended Rom (was all very new to me, and I'm now a little confused). I need the configurability back. I cant currently do much with the config as its all biased towards telstra (ie I cant change the phone number, or email servers, or even my email address. all I can change is the username part of the email address).
When I started looking into Rom/Radio versions, it dont seem to make a lot of sense.
My device details are;
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM date: 03/15/04
Radio version: 1.14.00 <-???
Protocol version: 1337.24
ExtROM version: 1.72.871
Microsoft Pocket PC Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053)
Model No: PH10B
I dont understand how the Radio version can be higher then the latest reported here, and I dont know if thats relevent, or if I downgrade that I'll be able to get to configure things, or if its totally unrelated...
I noticed the 2005 thread, and thought that would solve my problems, but thats no longer available.
Do I need to install a new OS, or just the Extended rom stuff from somewhere to get the configurability I need, or am I completely missing the plot here?
Help! What have I gota do to get some network configability back in my PDA?
Thanks in advanced.

PS. Never used a forum before, so I hope I posted this into the right place...
Hi and welcome
Could you be in the wrong forum?
Please verify the picture of your device against the ones in the index
http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php
The model number and Rom Versions seem not to match those for the Blueangel.
If this is the case I will move the post to that section once I know which one.
For here your device needs to have a slide out keyboard, does it?
Moved from blueangel section as this is xda II.

Upgrading MDA II GER -> WWE, please advice

Hello,
I have just bought a new unloked MDA II on eBay (I live in Russia and there is no other way to get it here) and it's all in German, the language I don't know. Here is the device data you might need to give me an advice:
ROM-Version - 1.60.00GER
ROM-Date - 12/03/03
Radio-Version - 1.06.01
Protocol-Version - 1337.16
ExtROM-Version - 1.60.08
ROM Chip - 28F128K3
Model number - PH10A

Basically I want to reflash it to the latest suitable ENGLISH Windows 2003 SE ROM. I tought that I could reflash it without learning how to use the complex upgrade tools just by downloading O2 WWE 1.72 update, but when I ran it it complained that there is a country ID error and did nothing.
So I need an advice on:
1) Which Windows, Radio and Extended ROM is should use in my situation (Coutry: Russia, Operator: BEE LINE)
2) What tools would I need to back everything up?
I used OSImageTool.exe, but when I try to load the resulting 32 Mb file with Windows Mobile 2003 ROM Editor it asked me a password (which of course I don't know) and didn't open it.
Please point me out to the relevant threads with correct ROM download links and upgrade instructions for those ROMs.
Thanks in advance,
--Yury.
Well, it seems that I figured out how to do it. I downloaded the package from:
http://www.my-xda.com/xda2.html
Then I copied the files apart and edited the ROM with the ROM editor for it to think that it's T-Mobile German ROM. It didn't give me any errors and upgraded without any problems. Yay!
Thanks guys for your excellent utilities.
