mail2web and new rom - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

since flashing the new rom mail2web has been acting up. when i send an email the receiver will get multiple copies (up to 9) of the same email.
anyone else have this problem?
otherwise m2w is working fine.

I think its something to do with mail2web, and not the rom.

I just sent my brother an email and he got five copies of it.

check this out:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/102444-mail2web-after-new-rom.html
looks like others have tied it to activsync on the new rom.

i had to mess with my exchange server settings, i unchecked the SSL encryption box and it has worked ever since.

that seems to work. thanks!

A bit bizarre, but I doubt it is the ROM update.

Exchange Services has stopped (XXLPB)

Anyone know if there's a fix for this? I don't know if it's from the upgrade or if exchange is just #%& in ICS, but...kind of a hassle, and the whole phone hangs while it's trying to connect to my two exchange accounts...
Cheers!

Exchange support is buggy with lpb. Using a 3rd party client (I.e. enhanced email) is a good work around.

Found the problem. Seems there was some kind of error when upgrading, and the security stuff got messed up. Removed the exchange account with the most security restrictions, and suddenly mail poured into the other one. Re-added the first, and it worked.
At least you'll know if the problem's still there on the official rom
I'm currently running XXLPJ (Via Westcrip's Resurrection Remix ROM) and Exhchange Services repeatedly hangs and makes the phone unusable.
I have frozen Exchange Services using Titanium Backup and the problem stops.
My question is, I don't use any Exchange mail so it's not important to me but does anything else in ICS depend upon Exchange Services running that might cause other issues?

[Q] Can some upload thier email.apk...please?

Hello All,
I am having issues with my email.apk, specifically there is no option to sync tasks although Samsung indicates that there should be. Samsung wants me to do a hard reset...I am thinking that I could try a working email.apk. So if someone who has access to an email.apk (stock or not), I would be ever so grateful if they could post it.
I am attempting to extract it from one of the uploaded .img files, but since I am learning the Android environment (coming from WM6) it is taking me a while to figure out how to do things...although I am learning.
I am currently using Da_G overclocked rom and have already soft bricked my phone a couple of times but have backups of everything and am getting the hang of it.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Mad383Max,
So, I still cannot enable syncing of tasks with my corp Exchange server. The mail and calendar work fine. I am slowing trying to learn how to modify apks to hopefully get this to work. Thanks for you help!
Is it an exchange account? I have set up a few for people in our company. If it is, can you list the steps you are using. We have a manager who works for us named Karen walker. That was what caught my eye on your post.
Nevermind i see now where you say it is an exchange account. No synchronize of tasks. Let me check something.

Just a quick question. Have you gone into settings/accounts &sync/(your exchange account name here) and checked to make sure that task is checked? I know it is basic but often overlooked.

I did try this and the funny thing is that I do not even have an option for Sync Tasks...only have Sync Contacts and Sync Calendar. When I called Samsung, they said I should have this option. Samsung me to do a factory reset, which I am trying to avoid, and am not sure would really solve anything for the trouble.
I have another Android phone and use Touchdown. I have no problem syncing tasks on that phone.
Thank you for trying to help!

Anyone have issues with Exchange Sync

Anyone having issues with their Xperia S receiving push emails? Mine only works with manual refresh, while my X10 works fine. Anyone else having this issue? If its a firmware issue then I'll wait for a fix. Don't want to flash the whole thing again without knowing for sure. Thanks in advance.
not at all. It has been really good.
Are you on Google Apps? or personal domain?
I'm on personal domain from my work place. Trying every configuration I could find searching the internet, but don't want to go to the last resort(reflash the whole thing) unless I really have to

Go to Phone Settings/Accounts&Sync/ and make sure that Activate auto-sync is on and click on the email right on the bottom and make sure everything you want is checked.

I am very Gmail dependent and its funny when you first get the phone and setup Gmail, it doesn't do this automatically. So I always go and do this and that goes to all email once you do it.
I bet they just want to make sure you do it yourself so later you can't blame them for extra data use.
Anyways, happy that you haven't got fired
Can you let me know if the exchange email app allows you to flag emails and then sort view by flagged emails so all flagged emails show up instead of having to scroll down the list of many emails to see the flagged ones? So far I have only found sense email app to do this and touchdown which I don't like. I am on the fence of buying this phone but need that functionality. Can anybody also post some screenshots of how the exchange email app looks like?
Thanks all

Multiuser was finally enabled. Great news on that front.
With the update to 4.3 comes App Ops! Now we can restrict individual apps from accessing personal information.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/app-ops-brings-granular-permissions-control-to-android-4-3/
It is with misfortune that this functionality will be removed if our devices get updated to 4.4.2.
4.3 update install failed
I downloaded and there was a button that said install/restart. Clicked the button it disappeared, but nothing else happened. Didn't install 4.3... restart did nothing. If i try to download system update, it tells me the system is already up to date. I don't see the update file in downloads, could it be somewhere else. Any thoughts?
I understand that on most android devices the update goes on the cache partition (which is only viewable with root).

Thanks for the reply. I'll check with dells venue support forum to see if they have another option.

Same thing happened to me.
I got the update...mine is on 4.3.....software version shows 3830_V1.16. The only addition i can see is the multiple user option...OH AND IT BROKE the ability to sync with exchange for emails (using built in email). pain the the ass cause i got this to handle work stuff while lounging around and not having my laptop. Many other users are complaining about this issue but so far i have found nothing for a fix. I like the built in email and hate to have to buy an app just to get my work email now. grrr

I use the stock email client for my work email and it still works like a charm. Where else are you reading that people are reporting this problem?

I have the same email problem with my Hotmail: 4.2.2 worked flawlessly, but now 4.3 will not connect to Hotmail using the stock client. The workaround solution is to download and use Microsoft's official Outlook app from Google Play. You'll have to use the Outlook client to send and receive mail, but at least your email will start working again.
Hotmail settings that work
