since flashing the new rom mail2web has been acting up. when i send an email the receiver will get multiple copies (up to 9) of the same email.
anyone else have this problem?
otherwise m2w is working fine.
I think its something to do with mail2web, and not the rom.
I just sent my brother an email and he got five copies of it.
check this out:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/102444-mail2web-after-new-rom.html
looks like others have tied it to activsync on the new rom.
i had to mess with my exchange server settings, i unchecked the SSL encryption box and it has worked ever since.
that seems to work. thanks!

no problem, it says something about your password getting nabbed, but i wouldnt worry.
Hey all,
Flashed chingys perfect storm version 1.2 this morning from version 1.1 and noticed that I could not send emails with the Gmail app.
At first I thought it was the new ROM version or possibly thenew Ziggy kernel but after restoring my v1.1 backup and flashing the adrenaline 2.0 kernel I STILL can't send emails, I receive them fine but cannot send out.
Now I have no clue what the issue is, has anyone else had issues? Is it just the app or the service itself? Just trying to get to the bottom of this.
menu>settings>manage applications>all find gmail and clear cache and data.
menu>accounts and sync>google sync now
I used to have this problem on my Eris and Inc about once a month, always did the trick. Hope it works for you

Thanks, I actually just deleted everything in my spam and trash folders and now its working fine. Idk if theres a limit or what, but thank you for the reply.
Anyone know if there's a fix for this? I don't know if it's from the upgrade or if exchange is just #%& in ICS, but...kind of a hassle, and the whole phone hangs while it's trying to connect to my two exchange accounts...
Cheers!

Exchange support is buggy with lpb. Using a 3rd party client (I.e. enhanced email) is a good work around.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Found the problem. Seems there was some kind of error when upgrading, and the security stuff got messed up. Removed the exchange account with the most security restrictions, and suddenly mail poured into the other one. Re-added the first, and it worked.
At least you'll know if the problem's still there on the official rom
I'm currently running XXLPJ (Via Westcrip's Resurrection Remix ROM) and Exhchange Services repeatedly hangs and makes the phone unusable.
I have frozen Exchange Services using Titanium Backup and the problem stops.
My question is, I don't use any Exchange mail so it's not important to me but does anything else in ICS depend upon Exchange Services running that might cause other issues?
Anyone know what else came with the recent update to Android 4.3?

Multiuser was finally enabled. Great news on that front.
With the update to 4.3 comes App Ops! Now we can restrict individual apps from accessing personal information.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/app-ops-brings-granular-permissions-control-to-android-4-3/
It is with misfortune that this functionality will be removed if our devices get updated to 4.4.2.
4.3 update install failed
I downloaded and there was a button that said install/restart. Clicked the button it disappeared, but nothing else happened. Didn't install 4.3... restart did nothing. If i try to download system update, it tells me the system is already up to date. I don't see the update file in downloads, could it be somewhere else. Any thoughts?
I understand that on most android devices the update goes on the cache partition (which is only viewable with root).

Same thing happened to me.
I got the update...mine is on 4.3.....software version shows 3830_V1.16. The only addition i can see is the multiple user option...OH AND IT BROKE the ability to sync with exchange for emails (using built in email). pain the the ass cause i got this to handle work stuff while lounging around and not having my laptop. Many other users are complaining about this issue but so far i have found nothing for a fix. I like the built in email and hate to have to buy an app just to get my work email now. grrr

I use the stock email client for my work email and it still works like a charm. Where else are you reading that people are reporting this problem?

I have the same email problem with my Hotmail: 4.2.2 worked flawlessly, but now 4.3 will not connect to Hotmail using the stock client. The workaround solution is to download and use Microsoft's official Outlook app from Google Play. You'll have to use the Outlook client to send and receive mail, but at least your email will start working again.
Hotmail settings that work

Hello All,
I'm pretty experienced with Android and flashing new software and all that, but I am at my wits end this time. Last week I installed a ROM on my Sprint HTC One M7 that had hangouts as the default SMS app. I hate hangouts, so I installed a third party app. I only ended up having that ROM installed for a day or two before flashing a new one, and suddenly I couldn't receive SMS. I tried tons of things before finally ending up running the RUU to flash back to stock. Since hangouts is in the stock ROM, as soon as it booted, all of my texts popped up right there in hangouts, where they had been being diverted the whole time, despite SMS being turned off in Hangouts.
This time, I updated Hangouts, toggled SMS on and then off again, but all of my incoming texts were still going to Hangouts and not appearing in my stock SMS app at all. Finally, I flashed an updated stock rooted ROM, and no matter what I try, I cannot get Hangouts to stop handling my incoming texts. This is absolutely infuriating, because as aforementioned, I'd rather lobotomize myself with a chopstick than use Hangouts. Has anyone else encountered this? Please help me!
Thanks!

Go into the application manager, find Hangouts, and clear defaults. If you don't use it for anything else, you can always disable/delete it.

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately this was one of the first things that I tried and it did not work. Hangouts currently has no defaults set and is disabled on my phone. There was a 48 hour period where Hangouts wasn't even installed on my phone but it was still handling incoming texts.

I agree! I wouldn't be here if I wasn't stumped. I had something similar happen with Google voice back on ICS when I had an SGS2, but eventually I was able to disable it. This time I am at a loss for real.

Duplicate installation, perhaps? I had this weird thing going on the other day where Titanium did an automatic restore after flashing a batch install of backups, and I had 2 iterations of Weather Bug (different versions). There have also been times where certain sideloaded apps had 2 iterations installed.
Try using a root file explorer and searching for for Hangouts. Maybe there's an .apk somewhere that still loads up even though it's not "installed" anymore.

Gonna check right now just to rule it out but I don't have high hopes since I did a full wipe before installing the Lollipop ROM that didn't contain Hangouts at all. I appreciate the continued suggestions though.

No Gapps packages, no batch restores? Maybe Google is doing it automatically when you first activate the phone. You're given the option to backup/restore your account, and if you do, the phone will start downloading apps that you had installed before.

Hmmmmm, that's one thing I did not think about, is using the Google restore feature when fresh installing. I did flash GAapps with the Lollipop Build but immediately disabled Hangouts. I wonder if maybe the setting isn't being applied "behind the scenes" when I flash a new ROM and allow Google to automatically restore settings. I'll have to play with this a bit. Thanks again.

That could be it. Installed, then disabled, then installed again automatically. If the restore is coming from a different source from Play Store, it's possible it's not making the same checks for existing installations, giving you a duplicate.

Man, I am really about to pull my hair out with this whole thing. I just installed a new ROM deleted Hangouts from system/app using root explorer after denying the auto-restore for Google and I still couldn't receive texts. Rebooted. Sent myself a few more test texts before re-installing hangouts and lo and behold, Hangouts had been receiving the texts even while not installed on any android device that I own. If Hangouts was a building, I would have looted it and burned it to the ground about an hour ago.

I was wondering if you had any luck finding what causes all the text to go to hangouts. I can receive MMS through messenger but not SMS. I thought I was the only person with this annoying problem. I was about to order another device but there has to be a solution to this problem.

Dray,
I did eventually solve it, though the problem persisted even after RUU. It turns out that the issue was with Google Voice. I don't use Google Voice, but I flashed a ROM that had SMS turned on in Google Voice by default. When I flashed a new ROM, sms was still being handled by Google Voice despite neither Voice nor Hangouts being installed on my phone. You should go into settings in Google Voice and make sure sms is turned off. If the app is not installed on your phone, download it and make sure it is turned off anyway, because as aforementioned it was affecting my sms even though Google Voice wasn't even installed. This should solve it.
