Hey all,
Flashed chingys perfect storm version 1.2 this morning from version 1.1 and noticed that I could not send emails with the Gmail app.
At first I thought it was the new ROM version or possibly thenew Ziggy kernel but after restoring my v1.1 backup and flashing the adrenaline 2.0 kernel I STILL can't send emails, I receive them fine but cannot send out.
Now I have no clue what the issue is, has anyone else had issues? Is it just the app or the service itself? Just trying to get to the bottom of this.
menu>settings>manage applications>all find gmail and clear cache and data.
menu>accounts and sync>google sync now
I used to have this problem on my Eris and Inc about once a month, always did the trick. Hope it works for you

Are you syncing with Facebook for HTC sense under accounts and sync? It has happened to new too I deleted that sync account then went to messages in manage applications and cleared data. Then re added my Facebook account.
It has to do with the permissions.
There is a tutorial on how to fix this.
I don't use the Facebook HTC app, I use the Android app.
I had to use the shell command and fix this. Straight forward though...
Let me see if I can find it...it's buried deep in a thread.
Refer to post number 2413.
Worked for me.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Seeing how I just rooted my phone yesterday, I figured I did something wrong.

Can not seem to get the email in the new EF 3.6 ROM to connect to my Exchange server. Have tried a full data / reset and still no joy.
Anyone else on this ROM been able to get past this?
The ROM is great but right now I am looking at having to drop back to 3.5.1 to get my Exchange connection back.
Thanks!

I initially had this problem also. I fixed it by going in and manually clearing data/cache from email only. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Email> clear data/ clear cache.
Alternately you could extract the email.apk from EF 3.5.1 and push it via adb.
Hope this helps.
Yeah.. I gave all that a shot before ever doing the full wipe..
pretty strange.. just seems like the connection is getting refused or something..
May stay on 3.6 and just let MailDroid take care of all the accounts. Was just nice to have the work email separate.
The aosp email setup screen is slightly different in that it put domain and username on the same line I.e. Domain/username. My first time I didn't pay close attention to each field and missed this-hence a failed connection. Also, make sure you have the correct web server, and your security certificates are correct. Otherwise, I'm out if ideas, as it worked fine for me.

I will post the samsung version in the morning for you as a zip.

Everything else on the ROM is sweet

Make sure you clear the email app data and cache before flashing. It might flash without a hiccup but in case you get FCs.
That worked!!
thanks again Nitro for all your hard work.
I'm having an issue with the latest Liquid ICS ROM (with working data), regarding the stock email app. I have it setup to my exchange account, and I receive the notifications / see the emails as they arrive, however none of the message boy (text) displays when i tap to open the email. Are there any fixes for this?

Using TB, I cleared the data for both the email and exchange apps and re-setup my exchange account. It is working properly now.
Don't have 10 posts yet, huh? Can't post in the developer's forum?
Yeah, me too.
I had the same problem specifically with gmail. The body of the message would show up for a split second and then disappear.
This was posted in the Liquid/ICS thread. The responses so far have been kind of vague since it isn't a universal problem.
Try wiping cache and dalvik and rebooting.

You can also Fix Permissions using ROM Manager. That's what I did and it's been running alright so far. Hopefully it sticks.

I also found that stopping both the cached processes and running processes for either gmail or exchange fixes the issue and is an alternative that doesn't require recreating your accounts every time.

I tried doing what you said and it did not change anything for me. What ksheth2130 said though about ROM Manger did get my emails to go, just not my contacts or calandar.
Edit: I may have to try to reflash because the fixed permissions trick hasn't worked for me since the first time.
I encountered this same issue with my Gmail and Exchange the first time I flashed this ROM at the start of the week. Force-closing the apps or clearing the data didn't resolve it for me, nor did removing my Exchange account and readding it. I resorted to reformatting and reflashing the ROM, and the problem hasn't been back since.
(Sweet, got my 10th post finally!)

First flash of this ROM was on Monday, encountered the issues later that day.
Reflashed on Tuesday morning, haven't had issues since.
Hello there.
We're a small business group from Italy and everybody is on Galaxy S2 ICS 4.0.4 .
Anybody of us has a personal and a group gmail account on his phone.
Well, we noticed that since the latest update Gmail is encountering synchronization problems.
We noticed that is was no more receiving emails or syncing, so we deleted data, application and accounts on all the phones, the we reinstalled the application and recreated the accounts.
Nothing changed, we had to revert to previous gmail version to make it work, but also in this case, when we open an email on the phone, it's not labelled as read on the server, so if we open gmail on web we see all emails unread.
Anybody with this same problem?
Best regards
Ask Google. Yes, seriously. Obviously something they've done in the new version is causing you grief, they're not going to be aware of the problem/do anything to possibly fix it unless users tell them about it.

I encounter these problems, too.

How can you say that? You can wipe app cache too, this fixes the problem. Temporarily.
And it's also not ROM related since I'm on Nexus 4.
On my device app cache wipe did not fix.
like the title says... every time i freshly install a 4.3 or 4.4 cdma rom itll work fine for a few hours then ill realize that i start getting gmail emails 5-10 minutes later than i should. kind of like they arent pushing through. that goes the same for my hangouts messages. sms messages go through fine tho. i literally have to go into account and hit sync now every 5 minutes to make sure my messages are coming through. idk what the problem is. all my installs complete successfully. The only roms that seem to not give me trouble are 4.2 roms and im definitely ready to upgrade and stay upgraded.... any help or info on this

What 4.4 Rom are you installing? Which GApps did you install? Be sure they are for 4.4 or 4.3. Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache? Try fixing permissions?

yes i definitely do all the wipes and fix permissions. i havent tried a 4.3 rom in a while but i know i had tried the slimbean one which also happens on the slim kat version as well. i tried all the gapps that were available for both and the most recent one was dhackers with the same results...

I'm currently on 4.4 CM11 12-29 Nightly, running PA GApps for 4.4 roms. The issue your experiencing sounds like either a network issue or software issue with the roms your using. Be sure your using Safe Strap 3.65 with any 4.4 roms, apparently people were having issues with BMM and 4.4. The CM11 Rom is very solid at this point, only issue i'm aware of is the WiFi Hot spot doesn't work, although there is a patch out there that I use which fixes it. Maybe give CM11 a shot? This is the first I've heard of a google account sync issue.
Hangouts does have issues though. When communicating with other gchat accounts, not sms, it can take a bit to update. This issue happens on my stock Nexus 10 as well. Seems to be a problem with the Hangout App itself. Never had issues with gmail or anything else though.

well i re-downloaded the 12-29 officiall nightly build and installed dhacker gapps before i realized you responeded and everything was running well for a few hours then i realized i wasnt getting gmail email nor the google hangouts im's. here are screenshots of the sync screen before and after i manually sync'd my gmail to get my msgs.
hmm, that's odd. You're not using Titanium Backup or anything when you switch between roms are you? How much internal memory do you have left on your device? Try going to setting's, apps, go to gmail, and clear data. Also go into the gmail app, settings, label settings and set to notify every message. Also go to normal settings in gmail, click your username, and make sure sync gmail is checked. When i just checked my gmail sync it said the last time it synced was over an hour ago. Also sent a test email to myself to see if my phone would notify me. It didn't until i opened gmail and slid down to refresh. The next test email i sent notified me once i turned the screen on. Seems it's not going to sync all the time but periodically in order to save battery. I'm hoping you figure this thing out; I feel invested in it haha
