Hey all,
Flashed chingys perfect storm version 1.2 this morning from version 1.1 and noticed that I could not send emails with the Gmail app.
At first I thought it was the new ROM version or possibly thenew Ziggy kernel but after restoring my v1.1 backup and flashing the adrenaline 2.0 kernel I STILL can't send emails, I receive them fine but cannot send out.
Now I have no clue what the issue is, has anyone else had issues? Is it just the app or the service itself? Just trying to get to the bottom of this.
menu>settings>manage applications>all find gmail and clear cache and data.
menu>accounts and sync>google sync now
I used to have this problem on my Eris and Inc about once a month, always did the trick. Hope it works for you

Hey guys I'm having trouble with the com.motorola.contacts force closing on me.
I recently ported the alien theme to the latest stock rom.
Now I'm getting that error and I'm not sure why I changed the contacts apk back to stock and it worked until I added my social networks and now it crashes again.
Any ideas on why this is happening? Maybe I need to change the setup apk back to stock also....trying to avoid that and yes I wiped the cache and all even factory rest via bootstrap
Thanks guys
You might have removed some of the other dependencies - such as the blur yahoo package, etc

the physical apk no everything is in its place only things I took out are the sprint apks
At first my text messaging would not vibrate alert me until I removed the moded apk and added the stock. I'm trying to figure why some stuff is flipping out and the rest aren't

I am having the EXACT same error with my contacts today and I have done nothing to phone except one click root and that has never caused me any problems with my contacts.

A heads up all. I found my problem. I installed the new Google+ 2.0 that is supposed to be for Ice Cream Sandwich. I just uninstalled it and my contacts work again.
Thanks it worked. Makes me think ics is gonna have integrated g+ support

This didn't work for me!
did you remove one of the social apps? " think it is "social sharing" that is needed to touch onto a contact while in messaging.
You having any luck over on your end Bro? Or still getting the FC's?
Ever figure this out? Mine happened after I tried moving the social apps out of the apps directory. Moved them back in and fixed permissions...same force close. Did a couple factory resets including internal storage and with the phone clean after that it still force closes! Not sure what else to try now.
Not to jack this thread, where can I find the old Google+ at? My phone was perfect until 2.0! Now I, like you, have problems with that Social Networking. 1. I cannot even add Google+ to it! 2. SPB 3d Shell sometimes freezes when I pass the panel with Social Networking on it.
The only thing different between this phone and replacement is Google+ and I can tell by the new red icon!

I had this happening to me and did the factory reset even through the stock recovery, but that didn't help. The only thing that worked to get it back was install the stock SBF. After that contacts worked again.
I was able to narrow done my problem to when I froze the Desk Home app in Titanium Backup. Then instantly I got the contacts force close error. Now it doesn't work again, even if I unfreeze the Desk Home app.
I will try again to see if I can reproduce the problem the way I did it.
I got this issue for a while after using Titanium Backup to "freeze" the Yahoo authenticator, and Yahoo Contacts on a stock (rooted) rom. After defrosting them the contacts came back. Props to Pete720 for the idea.
I deleted the yahoo and sprint apks and my contacts apk is fc how can i get them back
One friendly tip, next time use Titanitum Backup to Freeze the applications instead of deleting them. After a reboot they will appear invisible to the phone (not starting, not hogging any RAM) but for situations like this you can Unfreeze them to make them work again
Yahoo Contacts is not a dependency, Contacts work fine with frozen Yahoo Contacts. I tried tried freezing/unfreezing back and forth a bit and to me it seems like Motorola Contacts depends on all the Authenticator apk's, even if you don't use them. I only use Corporate Sync and Google Accounts but had to unfreeze all Authenticator apps to make the Contacts work again.
You will need all the com.motorola.blur.provider apk's. I don't know if I can help you since I have a Defy+ running 2.3.6 (there might be apk differences) but let me know if you don't find anything anywhere else and I could try to extract the apk's for you as a last resort
im getting forced closing on (com.motorola.phone),,,any idea what causes that
had that force close on phone issue b4... when i wasnt on a diff from ##data# and reset data profile fixed it just fine. when i had it happen on cm9 i just wipped phone 2 times and the format system thing and re installed rom and all was fixed.
I have a rooted Evo LTE on the factory ROM and everything has been fine... until just now. I decided I wanted to recover my call log from my Evo 4G backup via Titanium Backup. Now, after a reboot, I get a popup that says:
"android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC? This will help us improve our products."
The problem is that when I click 'Don't Send' it goes away but then pops up again less than a second later. It literally will continue over and over again w/o any end in sight. My phone is bork and I don't know how to un-bork it at this point. Sometimes I wish life had an 'undo' option as I don't even really care that much about my call log. I was just trying to get fancy I guess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my phone is pretty much useless at the moment.
I was able to navigate back to 'contacts/calls' within Titanium Backup between popups and click freeze. It froze and I no longer get those popups but I now get"
'Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped'
In addition to this I assume that my phone, contacts or something also doesn't work now that I've frozen 'Call/Contacts' but now maybe at least I can delete and restore this file with a proper working one?? Anyone??
Did you accidentally restore the Contacts/Calls application instead of the list?
You could have just synced the contacts to your gmail account on the OG EVO and they would have synced automatically on the LTE.

Yes, this is what I did. It was even in GREEN text which Titanium Backup says is safe to restore and to avoid RED. How can I fix this?

It wasn't the contacts I was after. All of my contacts are sync'd to Google so with the new phone I had all my contacts after logging into Google. I was just trying to restore my call log from my previous phone when all this began.
That Titanium Backup item is data only. Go back to Titanium to that line item, unfreeze, then wipe data. You should be good to go. Then maybe reboot to make sure there are no more force closes.
Edit: Actually, I may be wrong. There could be an apk with that as well. What I said above is still worth a shot, though. If it doesn't work you will have to find a way to restore that apk. Are you running a custom ROM?

That's the weird part was I thought that I did just restore the data. I'm about 97% sure that's what I selected in fact. I figured it would leave the app as is and then restore the data and bam! I'd have my call log. That's not the case. Clearing data from Titanium Backup was going to be my next step but didn't want to bork things any further. If you're saying it's safe to do I will attempt that.

No, like I said in the OP I've rooted a stock Evo LTE and that's all. Nothing else has been done.
Reboot into recovery (vol up + vol down + power and as soon as the phone powers off, let go of vol up) and fix permissions.

Oops... you did say that in the OP. My bad. Yeah, wiping data should be perfectly safe with any app, user or system, so that seems like a good next step. Let us know how you make out.

Unfroze and immediately got popups again. Between them I was able to clear the data for it and they quit. No rebooting to see if everything is good to go once again.

Great news.
Good news. My advice would be to flash TWRP now though. Being rooted without having a custom recovery is mighty dangerous.

I agree and I need to. I need to unlock my bootloader first and I started the process but didn't have the files I needed at like step 8 or whatever it was. I guess I'll try harder to find what I need when I get some more time.
In case anyone is curious, the problem exists because you have a Facebook friend that has a birthday on February 29th. Either remove the Facebook friend or don't sync calendar data from Facebook. You will need to clear the data first and then re-sync contacts and live feed for it to work. Hope this helps. This is a bug that HTC needs to fix.

Holy blast from the past. The issue has long since been corrected.
I'm having an issue with the latest Liquid ICS ROM (with working data), regarding the stock email app. I have it setup to my exchange account, and I receive the notifications / see the emails as they arrive, however none of the message boy (text) displays when i tap to open the email. Are there any fixes for this?

Using TB, I cleared the data for both the email and exchange apps and re-setup my exchange account. It is working properly now.
Don't have 10 posts yet, huh? Can't post in the developer's forum?
Yeah, me too.
I had the same problem specifically with gmail. The body of the message would show up for a split second and then disappear.
This was posted in the Liquid/ICS thread. The responses so far have been kind of vague since it isn't a universal problem.
Try wiping cache and dalvik and rebooting.

You can also Fix Permissions using ROM Manager. That's what I did and it's been running alright so far. Hopefully it sticks.

I also found that stopping both the cached processes and running processes for either gmail or exchange fixes the issue and is an alternative that doesn't require recreating your accounts every time.

I tried doing what you said and it did not change anything for me. What ksheth2130 said though about ROM Manger did get my emails to go, just not my contacts or calandar.
Edit: I may have to try to reflash because the fixed permissions trick hasn't worked for me since the first time.
I encountered this same issue with my Gmail and Exchange the first time I flashed this ROM at the start of the week. Force-closing the apps or clearing the data didn't resolve it for me, nor did removing my Exchange account and readding it. I resorted to reformatting and reflashing the ROM, and the problem hasn't been back since.

First flash of this ROM was on Monday, encountered the issues later that day.
Reflashed on Tuesday morning, haven't had issues since.
Getting SMS Error 65535 Code3 after updating from 3.0.0 to 3.1.0 Viper 5.5.
Tried a clean wipe/flash 3 times...still getting the error after a couple hours of use AFTER flashing. Texts will send perfectly fine, until I don't know what happens and they stop sending.
Any ideas on what to do? I'm so tired of re-installing and having to set up EVERYTHING again. :crying:
And texts will send for about a minute if I reboot the phone. Also, yes, my bills are all paid.
I'm running it and currently not having this problem. Take the sim card out and pop it back in maybe. Also try clearing cache and dalvik cache or dirty flash the rom.

I had this error on my phone when I used the DNA. I never could figure out the program. I went as fair as Ruu nothing fixed it
Sent from my HTC6600LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I reported this error to htc and they didn't do anything it happened on stock for me but never happens on a custom rom. The only way I found around it was a third party texting app. Verizon messages is what I used and it worked good for me. That's one of the only things Verizon did right besides put up a ton of cell towers. The messaging app is good.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Downloaded the Verizon messages app, will see if that works. The SIM card on these phones has always sucked...this is my second DNA and both SIM cards have continuously been a nuisance. I'll try popping it out but I'm not hoping for much going that route.
Will follow up later!
I had an SMS problem immediately after setting up ViperDNA 3.1 (from Slimkat 3.0). I let the phone settle down overnight, I've not had a problem since.
I use contacts+, but I'm considering another app, maybe Hangouts. I'd use Evolve if it were actually free.
Tried Verizon Messenger, tried removing/reinserting SIM card, tried rebooting again. Nothing...still getting the same error.
Going to try wiping cache/delvic. What is this dirty flash you speak of?
Wiped cache/dalvik...worked for one text message. Back to crap sms error...going to research what this dirty flash is.
This is RIDICULOUS.
Dirty flash is just flashing Rom on top of a rom

This is from the O.P. of ViperDNA 3.1.0. (Credit and thanks to Nitsuj17)
"I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
Rebooting into Recovery
Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
Try replicating the issue
If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to us.
To capture a logcat: (this assumes you have the Android SDK and ADB setup)
Open the Command Prompt
run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
Press Control-C to stop logging
Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
Post the link here with the problem being experienced

My SMS worked for a few texts and also stopped working. Now if I reboot, I get one SMS out, the rest won't go. If I change apps, the same thing happens. The first text goes and the rest don't.
I've tried 4 different clients, and now I'm on the default messenger.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Just found out that my Venom account, and a couple other accounts, aren't syncing. A "sync server is not working at this time." Error is displayed. Could that be part of my problem?

Thanks, will be re-doing EVERYTHING from scratch AGAIN tonight. I'm not sure what else to do if the problem persists.
It doesn't have anything to do with using Google Home or HTC Sense in the beginning setup after flashing rom does it?
Also, I have my network set to LTE/CDMA mode...I believe I've read that is correct, correct?
Full wipe and clean install, everything is beautiful...venom and all other accounts synced.
