I have the same problem
Found resolution, in San Google:
Go here and edit the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>RIL>OperatorNames>22288 = I WIND
Here there is the list of all code operator:
http://www.gsmcenter.pl/pg.php?tid=88&s=&dodruku=1
After edit the registry reboot the phone and all return ok.
Bye
My operator name is automatically picked up from my SIM card. I think I saw something about reading the SIM card name 'setting' somewhere...

I have a Palm Tungsten W"Tungsten_W" I need to unlock it, will some1 tell me where to find something related to that or how to do it?
I found this article but is there a way easier than this ?
'Unlocking Tungsten W is possible!'
Dear Friends,
I have bought my first palm almost 4 months ago... I never used it in Mobile Mode, because it was locked to AT&T... I'm from Italy, and in Italy AT&T does not exist! So... I was very sad, I have paid 517€ (600$) for nothing useful for me (I have bought it for internet surfing and chatting).
By the way, about a week ago, I have found a TIP in SIMEMU site, when it tells about sim cloning to overcome sim locking.
If you use a Smartcard to clone your SIM (Tim is, old Vodafone is, Wind is NOT clonable) you could unlock mobile features of Tungsten W, creating an account on the Smartcard that have the exact IMSI of the SIM card you have had, boundled with your palm!
This is the path:
1) Buy a SmartCard and a SmartCard Ripper/Writer (about 30$)
2) Download latest version of SIMEMU at http://simemu.cjb.net/
3) Download programs to clone your SIM at http://www.mfgware.com
4) Create your Multisim card as described in the SIMEMU site and docs
5) Extract IMSI and KI of your clonable SIM (you will not be able to find KI of NON clonable SIMs!)
6) Extract IMSI of AT&T card boundled with your Palm
7) Insert the account of your clonable SIM in the position 0 of SIMEMU
8) Insert the account of your AT&T SIM in te position 1 of SIMEMU (use IMSI extracted, fake KI, and choose a PIN you have to remember)
9) Insert the now ready MultiSIM Smartcard in your Tungsten W
10) Turn on the mobile of palm inserting the PIN of account 1
11) Registration to the network is not possible, just wait the error
12) Go to SimTools of your Palm, use it to change the active number to account 0(see SIMEMU docs)
13) Go to Mobile function, then Options, then Network, choose the network of your cloned SIM
14) Registration now... is SUCCESSFUL!!!
Now you are able to use all the mobile features of your Tungsten W, with any carrier that have a clonable SIM!
Beware: Do not turn on TWO mobiles with the same Number, the network will found You as a SIM Cloner, and will call you to give some reasons... So, be Clever!
Good Unlocking!
I really didn't wanted to ask another question about connection, but none seems to resolve my problem.. *sigh* I've searched forums for some info and i got so lil information that i don't know from where to start.
3 days ago i was at home, browsing internet like always "H" icon was on my taskbar. I've gone to work and i've got an info from "htc" that im "outside of my operator tax free internet area" (whatever). Since i have few megabytes left to use, i've clicked "opera" and... couldn't connect! i've got the following message:
"Cannot connect fot an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the progblem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again."
Ok now... so i went to settings > tapped MENU > all settings > connections > connections > "add a new modem connection" and entered :
Connection name: Internet
APN: Internet
User name: none
password: none
domain*: none
then gone to advanced TAB.
"select networks" chosen network and connection i just made. ( Do i need to set some kind of proxy? i saw on one forum to set it to 0.0.0.0, mine is 10.10.25.5)
i guess thats all.
i tried soft reseting. Hard reseting. i even changed ROM... and still... problem stays...
I've visited my operator website and they said that i should connect my HTC to pc and use the software for it so i can set up my connection, and they gave me info, about what to type...
But theres no any software for HTC, is there? except active sync thingie?
they gave me:
APN: Internet
Access number: *99# <-------------------------------- How? What? Where?
User name: none
Password: none
DNS: dynamic <-------------------------------------------How? What? Where? again!
Oh! and i installed N.O.V.A android game the day my connection went down, but even if i unplug my SD card, problem stays, Actually my phone is clean now.

Check to see if the correct APN settings are there.
I assume you are in the UK?
Orange APN settings:
Name = Orange Internet
APN = orangeinternet
MCC:234
MNC:33
APN Type: default
Everything else left blank.

sorry i forgot: Orange ROmania
Hi guys,
I'm actually trying to figure out where the Carrier and APN info is located at.
I want to create a simple APK which changes the APN to a default APN we have at our company.
But there's another problem: How do I change the carrier ID, (the one which shows on the notification bar) without rooting? This would void the warranty...
So, I need to know if this information is located by default in the SIM card, or it changes on every phone...
( Sorry for my bad English, I'm spanish )
Thanks!
Anybody know how to add the 4g only setting

Hello,
yes, now we finally found a solution.
Do exactly as described:
Download Settings Database Editor from playstore and open it
Look for hw_networkmode_preference and edit the stock value "9,6,2,1" to "11"
Restart the device
Open Settings Database Editor
Click on + Add new setting at the top
Type "hw_add_4g_only" (without " ") and press save changes
Type in your country code, example "502" Malaysia or "262" Germany. Press save changes
Type "hw_add_4g_only" (without " ") and press save changes (YES, REPEAT STEP 6)
Type in your country code, example "502" Malaysia or "262" for Germany and press save changes (YES, REPEAT STEP 7)
Restart the device and VOILA!
Now you have access to ALL network modes. Select "LTE" or "4G" for 4G only functionality.
Like this, you have stable Internet nearly where ever you go, without dropping back to overcrowded 2G/3G Networks.
Best,
Stefan
p.s.: thanks to ronald_loulan for original solution!
will this work when travelling to other countries?
It's work
Thank you very much
Edit: got it working 4g only now.
One question though, the UK country code is 234 and 235.
Do I add both numbers and just separate them with a comma?
Thanks.

Here is what work for me.
If you already had a hauwei phone and used "setedit" and you now upgraded to you Mate 20 pro with using the "phone clone" app.
You will notice the "setedit" app won't be copied over. So head on over to "play store" and download it.
Follow the steps give in this thread to enter all the setting on the "setedit" app.
Restart your device. You will see it didn't work. No problem. Just uninstall the "setedit" app and restart your device.
Now go to your mobile network setting and you will see you will have all the setting for networks including 4g only.
you can try this at teknokia site
