i understood from this forum that it's very dangerous to try running a g3 rom on g4...but do you mean that wm6,made for g3 is different from g4???cause i tried to upgrade to wm6 crossbow and it didn't work,i don't know how it happened,but i am still with wm05...so,what rom do you mean is dangerous for g4-radio or windows???is there wm6 for g4?

Please look at other thread before asking... especially this one
G4 devices are known to have two things in common :
- IPL/SPL are untouchable and with version number ending with .0001 (or so)
- they are CID locked (wish would only allow HTC to flash roms)
G3 Rom comes with IPL and SPL in. So if you try to flash it onto a G4 device, you may brick it by altering the original IPL/SPL. This is known to be hard to do, btw... don't do it. Also, in case of failed flashing, the IPL/SPL are the only things that could save you.
So you should try flashing G4 rom only.
Unfortunately, the CID lock makes it hard to flash any rom you'd like. Only a couple of ROMs are flashable on G4+CID devices.

Firstly what kind of unlock are you talking about. SIM-unlock is possible for G4 and G3. Use Lokiwiz, (search for it)
If you're thinking about CID-unlock, for G4 the only solution is to pay for it. (as far as i know) www.imei-check.co.uk can provide the unlock, but you'll have to pay. Quite a lot, actually.
Downgrading from g4 to g3 is not possible, since it's hardware. That is also the reason you have to be REAL careful. Read a lot before trying to do something you're not sure about. (It's a lesson i learned the hard way.)

As far as I understand your link, they provide only SIM/Network unlock, not the CID-unlock. Or may be one schould write them and ask about it?
No... Those guys at imei-check.com have the solution to unlock CID of G4, but you'll have to pay for it...

as said before, you can't downgrade a G4 to a G3, its hardware.
the .co.uk website, will unlock all both the sim and the CID for both G3 and G4, however you have to pay for it, you can simunlock a G4 for free, info is in the wiki, a free CID unlock for the G4 is not available (yet, people are working on it)

Just to remind one more time, if your SPL version finishes with 0001 IT IS A HARD HEADED G4 and if it finishes with 0000 IT IS A BEAUTIFUL LOVELY G3.

You have to wait for free cid-unlock (for ever?)
My opinion is that free G4 cid-unlock will never come.
Because G4 is used since several months and if nothing came so far, thus the chances get lower and lower every day (source: a probability theory)!!
I suggest you take the solution mentioned above and pay for it.

ok...but, tell me exactly what does this CID-unlock do? for what i can use it? i just want to change the rom in english...i can't? without that cid-unlock?
alright just a quick check after cid unlock you can flash whatever you want right? even if I just wanted to flash a rom of totally different device it would do it my phone would be bricked afterwards but it would do it right?
I also could downgrade ipl/spl. Does anybody know if the prophet unlocker would work with a wizard bootloader on a prophet?

still no news? I need to unlock cid of a G4 S200 and it's impossible to me to find any solution...thanks anyone!
If theres a free solution itl be here quicker than the speed of light, as its not on the Wiki you can be assured theres no free ones!
I have cid unlocked my g4 mda and been able to flash quite a few roms just wondering if any of the roms will have conflicts with my device unlocked via imei-check please help me with this read step by step instruction on core kitchen pro and said not to use with g4 unless using shelltool.
There's no problem to flash roms (on a CID-unlocked G4) made with core kitchen as long as there's no IPL/SPL in it. I think the remark was made for G4 CID-locked phones!

One more thing, i have downgrade my imate with the "RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID" but in this case i dont choose if imate are G3 or G4, it means there is automatic, only choose when we install the step 1 of the roms. right?

With this explanation I would guess that SPL:2.20.0000
would be a G4...
I upgraded my prophet from wm5->wm6 using G4 files, and all seems fine. Can help?

If you want to know your PDA is G3 or G4, just reset your phone, the first display will show you your PDA type.
I searched the site and only saw some people who are using the t-mo MDA rom on the g3 wizards - but I have a cid locked g4 8125. I looked in the t-mo MDA rom and it has a ipl / spl file, but will it brick my phone if I try to flash it? Thanks!
You may use ShellTool which will extract and flash only the OS portion for you.

You will need to CID unlock your device before you can flash the T-Mobile firmware to your 8125. The G4 CID unlock is ready for use I think. I would do a bit of reading to hear all of the trial and error and read the update history and make sure I know what I was getting into before starting. Fortunately, I have a G3 and it is CID unlocked. Unfortunately, It's currently broken and is un-usable...
