I upgraded to 6.1 and since then have been stuck in roaming mode. The only problem that this is causing is that some of the auto connect features will not work as they pop up with a warning that since I am roaming additional charges may apply. How can I get the system to realize that I am not roaming. It is recognizing the correct system.
here's a recent thread / posts info which may help u:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360452
thanks but more help needed
Thanks for the thread, it is nice to know that I am not alone, but the problem is not solved there. There is a zip file for a file registry but I can not install it. It does not uninstall as a cab. I can run it on my PC, but it does nothing on my PPC. On my PPC it says that it is not associated with any program. the end of the old thread asked what to do with the file and got no response.
u need to look at all the pages / posts of that thread and the last post #27 ends "Worked for me too! Thanks".
more help needed
Sorry, I went to the bottom of the page and didn't look for additional pages. I went back and installed regedit and used it to put in the file that was supposed to stop the roaming signal. Reset and felt wonderful until the roaming symbol still showed up. Anything else that I can try?
the problem should be in the difference of the provider name and the connected network, is this in your case alos.
I mean; my provider is Telfort, but the connected network is KPN. Therefore the phone thinks he is roaming, but it is his primary network.

Has anyone figured out a fix for the GPRS connection with the new T-Mobile ROM 1.60.07? My GPRS used to always be connected and now everytime I turn off the phone, the GPRS disconnects. In addition, I think some of the battery life problems come when the phone turns itself on (screen and all) to check e-mail (as set up in the Inbox settings). It used to check the e-mail silently without turning on the screen and then sound a notification tone.
I wasn't sure if anyone knew if this was a simple registry setting or a problem only solved with a Phone Stack upgrade?
Any help would be appreciated.

I've just upgraded to 1.60.00WWE (the radio stack is 1.60.01) and noticed the exact same thing. I did a lot af searching on Google and these symptoms are not mentioned anywhere, in general everyone is saying that the upgrade went fine and the device runs better than before, so it seems we are in the minority. Hopfully this is good news, and there's just something dumb that is not configured properly.
I also have the same problem ( and my friends with xda-2 ) all was fine befor the upgrade, But now the GPRS disconets , No good for MSN Messanger
John
I heard this from several users on several forums.. a lot didn't notice, but there was enough who did to make me not upgrade.. once the imate update came out i asked around for people that used that if their grps disconnected.. it didn't, so i upgraded with that ROM instead of the t-mobile one. Sorry for you guys =/

GPRS Fix
See the post above this one. Apparently if you delete the file TMD_AP_NL.sa.CAB from the extended ROM and hard reset, the GPRS stays on. You do lose the little GPRS timer but who cares!
I'm going to try it tomorrow and will report back.

Success! Sort of...
Well, I took some advice and changed my Ext_ROM. I took out all of the T-Mobile stuff and put in a bunch of the programs I always have to re-load myself. Then, the Hard Reset!
Bam! Now I have Always on GPRS again. However, apparently, one of the files in the Ext_ROM must also have the Bluetooth Fix with it. Now, I don't have the option of COM4 and COM5 for Bluetooth communications from before.
Does anyone know which of the files in the Ext_ROM this might have been? I am reluctant to try them one by one for fear of messing up the GPRS again.
Any help is appreciated!

Bluetooth Fix for Serial profile
I believe is between this two
CAB: \Extended_ROM\OEM_AKU1_WWE_4AP.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\OEM_WWE_03120301.sa.CAB
Total Success... finally!
Well, thank you thariman for your help. I am very pleased now. I installed the two files from the ext_rom:
OEM_AKU1_WWE_4AP.sa.CAB
OEM_WWE_03120301.sa.CAB
The first gives Bluetooth Settings the option for in and out COM ports. The second assigns these ports to COM4 and COM5.
Now, I have the Bluetooth fix to use my GPS and wireless sync AND the always on GPRS.
I hope everyone figures this out. I guess T-Mobile does not want users to have the always on GPRS connection. In seems to be disabled via there customization. Seems strange though considering their pricing is for unlimited use.
Anyway, I'm happy with my set up now! Good luck to all.

I just bought this Siemens SX-56 used, it's got XDA-developers Special Edition Rom already installed. I discovered this forum and this is my first post. Definitely a newby.
I am in the USA and the only options for auto configure are USA T-Mobile, so I skipped the auto config. and called AT&T to get the correct settings. Now the phone says it is connecting to GPRS, then indicates it is connected. But when I type in ANY URL, it gives an error message "The page you are looking for cannot be found." :x
The people at AT&T said I need to upgrade the ROM to PPC 2003. So I tried doing that and couldn't upgrade because the numbers don't match. Then I tried calling Siemens and they told me I was on my own because the ROM had been changed to XDA-dev. SE.
Otherwise, everything seems to work fine. It must just be a simple setting problem or something. I read through these forums for a couple hours and couldn't find anything like this. :?:
I thought about trying to use AdaptRom to try to upgrade to PPC 2003, but I don't know if that would work.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Dayne
People that should give support always say this kind of things just to get rid of you...
1. Try provider's web to find out the correct settings (access point).
2. The fact, that the phone shows "connected" doesn't really mean anything.
3. Common mistake is putting "Cellular Line" instead of "Cellular Line (GPRS)"
4. Sometimes it helps simply to erase all other connection settings!
Good luck!
PS: xda-dev. SER is pretty old one, actually...
You can upgrade to WM2003 using sd card bootloader method.
Hello, Thanks for the responses. When I called AT&T, they had me set up a connection we called "Gprs connection". I entered all the numbers they gave me and it wouldn't work. I then went to the AT&T website and retrieved the gprs settings listed there, (they were different), and they didn't work either. Finally tonight I deleted the "gprs connection" settings, and used the "Internet settings" connection instead, and it worked! I don't know why of course.
The baud rate is listed as 19200. Should I turn that up? (Some of the web pages don't want to completely load, and it seems a little slow, But maybe that's just the way it is?)
Also, would you recommend upgrading to PPC 2003 (is that the same as WM2003?) as someone has posted I can?
Thanks again. Dayne
1. The baud rate I used was 115k. Actually the system should choose it itself, as far as I remember you can't adjust this option at all in WM2003.
2. If you want to make the connection faster you should try tweakers that increase "window size" and probably upgrade to WM2003 to speed up the entire IE (in PPC2002 the system became unbelievably slow when you opened more than one window of IE)
3. Never tried bootloader method - I always run rom.exe (you can cook it at www.romkitchen.de) on my PC (ActiveSync 3.7 + cradle required)
Hey all,
I updated to the newest HTC Rom, Version 3.56.651.0. Now however I can't access the internet either through the internet explorer mobile or opera mobile. I am on hold with HTC Global Support, but figure y'all would be able to help me before them
Thanks

Correction: you flashed to Sprint firmware 3.56, and I'm going to assume you're not a Sprint customer and that you let Sprint's customizations run. What carrier are you on?
No, I am on sprint. Also text messenging and regular phone calls work just fine. I checked my MDN and MSID, they are all in there too. I loaded the newest rom on the HTC update page.
Error
What actually exactly happens?
Do you get a Incorrect Login/Password...or what?
That might help to begin troubleshooting (I had a similar problem)
When I enter a URL into the address bar of internet explorer, the lower bar begins to say Connecting, to Locating, and then an error stating that Page could not be found. Opera mobile gives me a similar error and so does Live Search. Currently there is no error 67 asking for user name and password.
One thing to note, when updating the ROM I didn't allow for customizations to run.
I found the solution, allow for customizations to run. I did a hard reset and let them run (sigh bogged down with bloatware). Now internet is running just fine.
I am a noob at this, but after doing some forum reading. Apparently sometimes data connections randomly kick off after updating the Radio and if you don't allow customizations to occur, then you have to run IOTA.cab in order to reestablish connections.
I am attaching the IOTA cab courtesy of a user at PPCGeeks in case anybody has a problem too
hard reset, let the customizations run, connect and do something online.
hard reset again, this time without letting them run.
Should have internet. If you dont mind resetting at least.
Ok so now since I no longer have my ipaq 4700.... im loving my mogul.
I do however have the latest srpint rom and dont mind it....
the only question I have is this...
I do not have a dataplan and when I use the internal gps and or messenger....the unit constantly dials out to #777. I called sprint and they disabled HAI or HIA or something like that so they said my internet is disabled...
I just get tired of the constand dial out, failed to connect messages..
which rom would be the best for just getting this to go away....in a tweak somewhere I read that there was a reg key to set to not dial out and I did that... also it said go into manage connections and add a user name. However everytime I do that the name gets removed.
any suggestions?
THanks
Jeff
I don't think any rom would fix that problem, cause the vast majority of users use data plans.
I believe the gps dialout is a reslt of the assisted gps capabilities. I recently disabled this in my wife's sprint touch by altering this key:
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS
I changed both the 'enableAGPS' and 'enableGPSSmartMode' from 1 to 0. I remember which of the two fixed the problem. Probably just the first is necessary. You'll probably need a soft reset.
To get rid of the dialing out completely, you can go to settings\connections\connections\manage existing connections and then delete the sprint. Of course sprint makes it come back, so you'll need to delete the htc_cm_guardian.exe file from your startup items. I am pretty sure that will work. What ends up happening is you get an error when you try and connect to the internet. I'm not sure that's any better than trying to dial out, but at least you know sprint won't screw up your bill (they do a pretty good job of reimbursing for these when they screw up).
guess im batting a 1000....
I already had both keys set to 0
also I do not have that exe in my startup so cant removeit...
oh well...
Try going into your Connections setting and deleting the #777 profile - it shouldnt dial out after that.
Hi Guys.
So I was finally able to get a cooked ROM on my Fuze using an older XP machine that I had. But now, after trying both ROMeOS and DCS, I'm not getting any 3G signal. What i do get at times is the hsdpa signal, but i don't actually receive it; none of the data services are working (internet, weather, youtube, etc.). Could someone please tell me how to get 3G on my Fuze?
EDIT: It seems like I am getting the HSDPA signal at times but its very tempermental
anyone have a solution?

In start>settings>phone>band do you have the auto in both drop menus on??
also try start>settings>connections>advanced network> in the HSDPA try to see which option is used. try to use 'enable HSDPA Only' or even disable it completely and see what happens.
had the same issue and this seemed to fix it.
Advanced Config Tool>menu>more settings>Comm manager - Add 3g to comms manager.
Open comms manager and switch 3g off > soft reset > switch 3g on > soft reset
Good luck
thanks ill try that out when i get a chance. what rom were you using?
EDIT: nvm saw it in your sig
did you run the network config wizard after flashing the rom?
it prompts (or detects) your country and operator and configures most things for you.
if it's not part of your cooked rom, look for it as a .cab
yea i ran the config but it still doesnt connect to 3g. I'm trying the suggested solution now
still not working....
I still cant run apps like cellular video and the youtube app. Youtube just wont load the vids, and CV gives me a message that says it's only supported to 3G phones. I really hope theres a solution to this since I really love ROMeOS but I want apps like youtube and CV
haha i give up. I officially ***king hate this. I feel like I spent 300 bucks on a phone that is perfectly engineered and has crap software on it. Im so agitated i can't even think straight. I'm really close to just getting rid of this phone and i dont even know.
Well... felt good to tell someone.
I am having the same problems. I am using an ATT Fuze and I flashed ROMeOS last night and now I cant to connect to the internet or use the youtube app via HSDPa/HSUPA, 3G, or Edge. I can use these applications if I turn on Wi Fi, but if I use cellular internet I get a big red sign that says "ERROR" and then followed by "the remote server refuses to perform the request. This address is not available". It also shows an H on the top bar if anyone was wondering. Any fix for this or just try a different ROM?
Update: I tried a new ROM and same thing. Does anyone have a solution? I am sure us two aren't the only ones with this problem!
I am getting pretty desperate, can anyone help?
same problem here, my area supports hsdpa but with a speedtest i have between 24 and 36kbit

go to start>settings>Connections>Advanced network>GPRS "make sure CHAP authenticaion is selected. that is what ATT network uses. then go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connections> select manage existing connections and then go to the proxy tab. make sure your remove both check marks and you should be good to go.
Wow, thank you HackMimic that worked! I tried everything I could think of and was about to go back to stock ROM just to use 3G, but now I can continue using flashed ROMS. To the original poster of this thread try the above and it should work as I had the exact same symptoms you described and now I am cruising along on HSDPA! Once again thanks HackMimic!
no problem. i had the same issue back in the day when the connection setup app first cam out i noticed that it always seem to set the GPRS Settings to PAP instead of CHAP which is needed for MMS and the net over here in america. also noticed issues with proxy selected. glad i could help.
Yea I tried HackMimic's fix but not directly from you . I was reading on how to configure skyfire and they said to do that, and what ended up happening is all of the sudden the youtube app worked and so did everything else. Regardless, thanks for the solution. I'm a little more amazed everyday by the wealth of knowledge on this forum
