Radio ROM versions on O2 UK - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I unlocked my SPV m3100 on the weekend with pof's unlocker then upgraded to the very latest radio ROM, 1.54.3. Since then I've had 3G active on my old Orange SIM but my new O2 SIM refuses to move onto 3G -- it's stuck in EDGE.
According to the map on o2.co.uk, I'm right in the middle of a HSDPA area, so I should have coverage.
I thought as a first port of call I'd try downgrading the radio ROM to a known-good one. Can anyone either tell me what radio ROM was in the last offical O2 ROM, or if you are on O2 UK and have good experiences of a particular radio version, which version are you running?

Upgrade => Problems with GPS

Hi,
I have a problem wtih my HPC and would like to c if anyone can help.
Problem description:
After Upgrading the Rom from I-Mate's webpage to 1.66WWE the GSM phone has serious problems (seems very week).
I purchased my phone in the middle east and it had an older ROM version (Am not sure but it probably was 1.52 I am sure the radio was older than 1.10 but not sure which version I suspect it was 1.03.
When I first arrived here in the US it was working fine with AT&T cingular and T-mobile. Reasonable reception and stability.
Then I stupidly decided to upgrade the roms from i-mate's webpage and I started facing problems. Now the phone either can't find the network or sees a very very week signal.
More annoyingly when It tried to downgrade it to the older version on imate's webpage it refused to downgrade the radio version and kept it at 1.10.00.
My questions:
1. Any idea where I can find an older version of the radio rom s/w so I can get my GSM phone working?
2. Any ideas what I can do to upgrade to the 1.66WWE and the 1.10 radio and still have them work here in the US?
as it is now my settings are:
ROM version 1.52.00WWE (was 1.66 for while)
ROM date 10/29/03
Radio version 1.10.00
protocol version 1.337.18
ExtROM: 1.52.114

Need Radio recommendation for german O2 on wm2003 Wallaby

Hi everybody,
my WM2003 MDA (with T-Mobile ROM) worked perfectly with german E-Plus network but after switching to O2, it experiences very low or no signal strength at known places where signal strength usually is very good. I'd like to flash a new Radio version but I'd like to avoid catching more or other trouble as I've read about here. Can someone recommend a well working radio version? My current system is:
ROM-Version: 4.00.33 GER
Radio-VErsion: 3.23.00
THX in advance
Sven

Some Question i dont found a answer at wiki/forum about upgrading

1. There are 3 parts i COULD update right?
- Bootloader (hardspl)
- Radio
- ROM (OS)
So Bootloader is that i could safe flash and boot roms. thats ok.
Rom is also ok. (i want wm6 black 3).
But why should i update radio? better signal? compatiblity?
2. i have a o2 xda trion in germany. we have homezone which displays a small house on my screen.. if i flash wm6 black 3 edition i have no "offical" branded o2 version on my xda. if i write down my mms, grps umts whatever settings does i need the o2 oem branding stuff to get my homezone icon or does it work with all other cells too?
thanks

to answer your first question, yes, a radio can mean better reception, less dropped calls, quick reception regain, stuff like that...as for the second question, i dont know what a homezone is, but if you get all your settings down such as mms and internet, u can re-enter it and it will work all fine.....

completely confused about cid and sim unlocking

i've got an 'old' mda vario 2, which i unlocked using pof's cid and simunlock tool. i want to upgrade to a new WM6 rom (either the tmobile or htc wm6 rom), and for that i may or may not need to be cid unlocked. the most important is, that i stay sim unlocked.
so if i upgrade to the stock shipped WM6 (dutch) tmobile rom, i off course do not need to be cid unlocked (only if i want to upgrade to the WM6 htc rom, which in the end i prefer!!!).
but i've been reading around, and there are radio roms around that when the device is upgrades with that particular rom, the device becomes simunlocked again to that provider (in my case maybe Tmobile) without any hope of simunlocking it again. The devices i'm talking about are the X01HT devices with radio 1.14.01.10.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665&highlight=cid+unlock
so here my question, i know for a fact (or i think i do since it is a pre 2007 mda vario 2) that i do not have an X01HT device. but after i upgrade to the orginal WM6 rom (either the tmobile rom or the HTC rom) will the radio rom in the new original tmobile rom simlock the device again (and thus putting the unlockable 1.14.01.10 radio rom on it)?
Or is this only the case for X01HT devices with radio 1.14.01.10 (since the radio roms of these devices cannot be up or downgraded).
any help is appreciated
Use HardSPL - this will idiot-proof keep your device unlocked / safe for most failures if you follow the instructions in the forum and in the WIKI exactly.
The X01HT is a version of the HTC HERMES especially made and rebranded for SOFTBANK (just another company riding on HTC's back ). Your T-Mobile Vario II is not a SOFTBANK!
Read the HERMES section in the WIKI it covers nearly everything, even SIM lock / CID lock. If there are some things in the WIKI which you can't understand just come back here and post your questions ...

[Q] Best Radio+ROM for Vodafone UK? Everything sox for me..

since i've got HD2 i have been tryng lots of combinations for radio and rom
but nothing works fine.. poor signal, data keeps droping and changing a lot..
does anyone know what configuration is best to use with vodafone uk? (my sim card is new)
ROM:Artemis 41.0 WWE (02/11/2010)
RADIO: 2.12.50.02_2
2.08.hspl
thanks!!
hi Ch,
sorry but there is no such animal as 'the best.........etc'
depends on too many factors - most specifically - your location in UK.
i live near Axminster, Devon & have tried dozens of combi's.
currently (check sig) works for me - radio version 2.15.50.14 is miles ahead of all others (up here in the hills).
keep flashing - it will come right - promise. HD2 is a superb m/c.
I have to agree, Ive found 2.15 radio best so far battery not amazing but it more than makes up for it... other than that I am using 2.10 as in my sig.
Basically I have come to the conclusion that Vodafone sucks, its not the radio its F***ing Them! They used to be really good but I think their network is running on economy or something.
I'll be moving to O2 when my contract runs out.
@ osrix
+1 on that.
o2 is also coming my way soon.
edit: better change 1st part my sig. lol
Dude, I think your problem might be that you are using Artemis ROM v41 with HSPL2.08.
If you read the Artemis ROM thread, all versions after v37 (so v40, v41, v42) are built from the new SPL 3.14 base.
There are reported memory issues when using these later Artemis ROMs with HSPL2.08 and it is recommended to use the stock ROM 3.14 SPL.
Unfortunately if your phone is a Vodaphone, 02 or T-Mobile UK branded HD2 there is not a stock ROM v3.14 available yet. (no-one seems to know if they are planned).
If you read the Artemis thread you have a couple of options:
1.) Flash v40/v41/v42 using the Goldcard method to "rebrand" your phone to orange/HTC
2.) Use Artemis v37 which will work fine with HSPL2.08 (this is what I'm currently using & its working fine)
after a goldcard boot method running an official rom, phone stucks 0% on cooked
I got a gold card and have flashed an official leo 3.14 rom using the boot method pressing buttons..
but now, when I try to flash an artemis from gold card or usb the process gets stuck on 0%!!
now there..
spl 3.03........
(WWE) 3.14.405.2
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Manila: 2.5
vodafone uk - still
**android works fine with this official rom but i want other.. should i come back do 2.08 spl??thx
Hi Guys,
I am also with Vodafone UK, using their official Stock ROM 1.72 and having same/like problems you have indicated. I live in Manchester and even so don't have a decent signal at home. At least they gave me their Sure Signal unit to boost my home reception.
I was with O2 before moving to Vodafone (bcz they at had that time the best price plan for a free HD2 handset) and regret the day. O2 has a much better network and a fantastic Customers Service. I was lucky to be on one of the last 12 months contract Vodafone offered so in 3 months time I would be back with O2!
