I did a search but couldn't really find the same problem.
I'm a new Mogul user and just upgraded from the 6700 (kitchen).
I'm on a SERO plan.
Well I upgraded to Nexvision's ROM and Radio 3.27. I verified that the GPS works and I can place and receive calls. I can also use Internet Explorer and Google Maps.
However, whenever I try to initiate Internet Sharing (I prefer BT but would settle for USB) I get a "Error Code 67" and some message about user name and password do not match. (I even tried PDAnet with the same result)
After that - Data for all applications (PIE, google maps, etc) is messed up and I continually get the error. I have to do a Soft reset to get rid of it but every time I try Internet sharing, it happens again.
Any clues? If I can't make it work, I'll probably have to go back to my trusty 6700. I really like the Titan but Internet sharing is a must have.

You wont be able to get it to work...(correct me if I'm wrong) error 67 is the phone not recognizing the log in email and password you set on your sprint.com account. Since you can browse with your internet explorer (you can, right?), the phone shows that it has no problems logging in.
You can, however, use PdaNet and share the broadband connection.
try using wmwifirouter for internet sharing, you will not get the eror code as a result of tethering your device with a usb cable.
to get rid of eror code 67, read this post
http://www.sprintmogul.net/Forum/tabid/54/ptid/370/threadid/1333/forumtype/posts/Default.aspx
specifically the comment about disconnecting immediately upon connecting. worked for me.

I tried PDAnet and I get the same dreaded Error Code 67
So basically I get data on my phone, but I can't share it (tether)
That's strange...PdaNet works for me but internet sharing from the phone doesn't. Maybe you should try the solution posted above ^
Went back to Original ROM and verified Internet sharing works via the USB (didn't try BT but assumes that it would work too).
Not quite sure why I would always get the Error Code 67 with the upgraded ROM. I've read that a few others have had similar problems too but I don't think anyone has a definitive answer yet.
I really liked the GPS feature but for now the Internet Sharing trumps it in importance.

Hey all,
So I've got a small issue. I've got a Verizon XV6800 with the MR1 Rom WM6.1, Valhalla GPS server, 3.42.50 Radio.
Internet connection sharing is not working at this point. I've gone through the winmodem and internet connection sharing cab installs, registry edits, etc. None seem to help.
I previously had a ATT tilt 8925 and had no issues whatsoever tethering it to my mac by just pairing the phone, selecting to "Using a direct Higher speed connection to reach your ISP". Starting Internet Sharing on the phone, selecting Bluetooth PAN & the default data connection, then selecting connect. Then selecting "Connect to network" On the mac through the my phone listed in the bluetooth connections. That simple.
Having installed the "Internet Sharing" cab onto the phone. Internet sharing appears to work, but the phone does not advertise this service, like the ATT tilt did on ATT's network.
I've also tried a few registry edits, and used all variations of modem scripts, and got all the dialup info from verizon directly (so I know it was right ) but could not get dialup to work either. Usually not detecting a carrier, other times lockups.
I truely want to get the bluetooth-PAN working again as it did on my tilt. Anyone have this working on the MAc with a XV6800 on verizon?
i did have it working before. I'm wondering if you might be more successful with a custom rom. Verizon installs software (at least previous roms, I haven't tested the MR1 rom) that reverts reg edits and keeps it working like VzW wants it to. This could be causing problems. First check after a soft-reset to make sure your reg edits still exist.
Also I'm sure you've tried this be in Leopard's bluetooth setup delete the phone and try again. You need to select the type of device as any device in order for leopard to see it. Can you connect the device to your mac? Try that first. If you get a BT connection non-internet connection and you change your settings delete the phone and try again. I forget some of the setting I used. Also Engadget had a how to article for BT pan using the xv6700 and Tiger most of the information is still useful. It's a couple years old so you might have a hard time finding it.
Hope some of that helps.

As mentioned, I have tried a ton of different methods to try and use the data connection, from using dialup settings, to trying to get the Bluetooth Pan working. I've removed and re-paired the device from my mac, flashed roms, hacked away at the registry a ton of times. Nothing seems to give so far.
I've got one more suggestion, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1794133&postcount=29
I'm going to give this a shot tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

You can use the link from the previous post here, and just copy the dll's and exe to the Windows directory, and place teh shortcut into the Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ directory.

hey, ok great, i just downloaded the file, Just one question..
The file i downloaded has about a page of Reg Key changes, you didnt mention that in your "thngs to do"
Just want to see if i am to make all those changes or not.
thanks
So, your problem is in getting the internet connection to work and not connecting it to the mac, right? Does your mac recognize the phone as a modem?
If you're using MR1 I think you might need to hard reset and the soft reset right before the Verizon customizations run. You won't be able to run their apps but there won't be software to cripple the phone.
i have the same exact issue i have a new macbook pro and the bluetooth connects however the speed is slower then dial up it works perfectly however on bootcamp apple has to change the drivers
So more results.
I tried all the registry edits, (much easier with CD-Regedit so you can make the changes on your desktop) and now internet sharing does not even allow me to select a connection type, it had worked previously.
The only thing that was missing before I made the registry changes was that when I pair the phone, in the services listed, "Network Access Point" is not one of the listed services. My old phone has this service listed, and this is how I used it, where I started internet sharing on the phone, then selected the bluetooth device (phone) on the mac and selected: "Connect to Network) and it worked flawless.
Back to the drawing board. I'm going to try next to re-flash the MR1 rom and do as Cycomachead suggested and stop verizons customizations from happening.
bryanw17, what were the exact settings you used for dialup on the mac. The modem script used is probably the most important piece.
Number: #777
Username: Phonenumber (or [email protected]????)
Password: (We know this one, not sure if it's legal to post though)
Darn, I wish I could provide more help. It is indeed possible in Leopard, I had it going before I began flashing my phone - and I no longer have a data plan to test, otherwise I'd be using it a lot more!
aparently no one with a new macbook pro can get bluetooth pan to work. I have it connected however the drivers for the new macbook pro do not provide a good connection if you search the mac forums theyve been talking about it on there. I dont use a username n password however because i use the internet sharing app for the moment i am using wmwifirouter to connect online however my xv6800 doesnt charge at the same time for some reason so u can only use it till the battery dies
So some more results.
I installed ICS and all the registry edits. Then the internet Connection Sharing did not function at all. I verified the registry settings, all were fine. So no dice with me.
So back to the drawing board.
I installed a previous rom. DCD 3.2.6, and guess what? From initial flash of the phone and initial setup, no apps installed, no hacking, ICS runs and provides a network connection to my mac perfect. I also instantly notice when I pair it through bluetooth, it allows the option of "Access this device as a network port". And "Network Access point" is listed as an offered service.
I installed newer rom DCD 3.3.4, and the MR1 Rom. Neither have ICS installed initially. I can install the two files: intshare.dll and IntShrUI.exe into the windows directory without any reg edits, and then ICS works on the phone, but then pairing the phone to the Mac, and attempting to discover teh PAN service is unsuccessful. It only is discovered as a Dialup Access device, and not a "Network Access Point".
So, It appears I can get internet Sharing via Bluetooth PAN to function on the phone no matter which rom, but have not figure out how to tell the mac, or trick the mac, into thinking the "Network Access Point" service is available.
I have pulled completed registry dumps with CE-Regedit and compared the differences between the two, which there are quite a few, but not sure how to export these differences with the program so I can apply them to the other roms registry. I guess I might try a fukll backup and then restore to the new(er) rom and cross my fingers.
I'd stay with the 3.2.6 rom. and 3.42.50 Radio, with PRI 2.03, but I can only seem to make the GPS function successfully with the MR1 stock verizon rom.
Anybody want to take the two regs files compare, and see if they can find out where we can make the change to have the phone advertise the service "Network Access Point" when being paired to the mac or PC?
On one last note. I also tried the method of restoring the MR1 official rom, and then not allowing the customizations. ICS will function, but again, not advertising the service: "Network Access Point" when pairing, so it's not recognized as a valid networking method.
Where did you get those files (intshare.dll and IntShrUI.exe) to allow ICS via bluetooth?
Nevermind, I found it on PPCGeeks.
Don't know why DCD disabled the BT DUN on ICS.
I use Missing sync, and I turned on PAN then added my phone and it shoed it as a modem when I added it, but my BT connection is fairly Unrealible compared to the USB teather on Bootcamp
i was under the impression that bt pan has been whacked on macbook pro models starting from early 2008 on. anything earlier than that and it seems to work great. does anyone know why bt pan doesnt work on the newer machines and how to get it to work?
Hi there,
Just picked up my S740 and i'm trying to get it working with my Three sim card. The phone and the internet work oK, but i can't seem to get MSN working. I just get a cannot connect message.
In fact, i've even connected to my wifi network and messenger still does not want to work. There must be something simple i am missing!
As an alternative, is there another messaging programme i can use instead of messenger which can access hotmail accounts?
I hope someone can help.
OK, there is something more significant that i'm missing or fundamentally wrong with this device. I've downloaded palringo and i can't connect to either msn or yahoo messenger.
Any clues?
you've not been silly enough to program a proxy into the connection settings have you?
At this stage, I'm willing to accept any suggestion, no matter how ludicrous.
But there is no proxy. Besides, i browsed to the parlingo site on the phone, downloaded it on the phone, but when i run it can't connect. Surely the proxy would have prevented internet connectivity on the whole?
Unless there is a specific proxy setting in messenger that i can't see.
I love the phone, but at this rate it's going to go straight back.
OK, i've worked out the problem.
There's nothing wrong with the phone. The problem is with the f*@#ed up 3 Mobile SIM which totally locks up the device and does not allow you to do anything. I suspected something was up when i couldnt install the newer Live file due to insufficient rights.
So for anyone searching for a similar issue, you cannot use this device with a Three mobile SIM. Unless someone knows how to unlock it?
it's cos three block a **** load of stuff. I suspect that if you have the internet addon, it may allow it.
have a check with some of the guys in the Diamond and Raphael forums, cos there's a few there that have three SIMS and had similar problems with messenger.
It's all down to three blocking everything apart from texts and calls and charging you for everything else. They have a special version of MSN messenger that either uses alternate ports, or is allowed through their packet sniffer. I'm not entirely sure how they block stuff, but i know they do.
Hi all,
been using the google maps app that comes with the HD2 a lot, but suddenly it won't load using mobile internet anymore.
It works fine over wifi, but it seems it doesn't want to use my dataplan anymore.
It doesn't matter whether i have 2g, 3g or hdspa connection, it just hangs on 'loading' or 'searching'.
I checked the connection with opera and it works fine, can load any webpage pretty fast.
What can i do to fix it? is there a way to reinstall it? I don't have a cab because it came installed on my HD2.
edit: after a soft reset it won't even load over wifi anymore!
Edit2: hmm, after another soft reset it will load over wifi again but still nothing over mobile connection
get the newest version from here mate, just install and it will delete you're previous version
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-google-maps-mobile-v1-2-0-13.html
Same problem here in Rotterdam. Was wondering what could be the problem, but since other people seem to have the same problem, it more than likely is the connection to T-Mobile's network again.....
As is the case with you, WiFi connection allows to start up Google Maps properly, however as soon as mobile network is used, Maps no longer works because of lack of connection to the network....

new version has the same problem
i read online that it may have to do with proxy settings but have not been able to resolve the issue
also, the guy at the t-mobile store was less than usefull (big supprise there)
I just spoke with the t-mobile helpdesk and they are already aware of the problem.
They told me it is a problem with the google server's connectivity and that some ppl can't even synchronise their gmail or other google services (haven't had that problem myself)
They're looking in to it so hopefully it won't take too long
Someone at T-Mobile has earned his/her salary this month: it's working again....
Hi all,
I got problem with internet connection on my HD2 (ROM 1.48). There are 2 ways I connect to the internet - WIFI and GPRS. GPRS connection works fine - I can download and read e-mails, make backups with MyPhone, update weather information, etc. But when I connect to the internet with WIFI, there are only 2 things I can do. I can browse web pages with Opera and update Twitter messages. But I can´t download e-mails, make backups, update weather information, etc. When I try to update or backup something, there is connection error (through that connection between phone and router is fine and web pages are running).
It seems to me like most of applications want to connect to internet via GPRS only. Is there any way to set up (or check) the phone to connect to the internet via WIFI when it is turned on?
Thanks for any advice
Sorry cant help but agree - it would be fantastic if there was some way of knowing / controlling when it used GPRS data and when it uses wifi. When wifi availabe obviously would rather use that than be charge a small firtune for data.
Any one out there about to help with this??
Internet browsing
Ditto. I can - after HUGE effort - connect WiFi but I cannot browse the internet using either Opera or IE. 2 year old Nokia connected and browsed literally within 2 secs! Also, the phone keeps connecting via GPRS all the time even with data connections off. Can anyone help? Thanks PS I know it's unproductive & forgive me, but I have to get this off my chest: this is the worst cellphone I've ever owned. Bluetooth doesn't work, internet doesn't work, handsfree car kit doesn't work. Does anything work?

correction, YOUR Bluetooth doesn't work, YOUR internet doesn't work, YOUR handsfree car kit doesn't work.
Get it exchanged. (if they genuinely dont work)
@others, go to settings menu all settings connection connections advanced select networks.
there are two dropdowns, in teh top one should be the name of your mobile data, , this is what automatic progs will use to connect to the web, in teh bottom one it should be 'the internet' (or sometimes 'my work network'), meaning they use wifi if available, and data if not.
(At least thats how they should work....)
If you set the top one the same as teh bottom one, nothing should try to use mobile unless wifi is not connected.
Could be a proxy problem? some operators set up a proxy, which can screw with connections.
samsamuel: Thank you for your advice. I´ve tried it - in both dropdowns I got "my work network", but no success.
I´ve found something interessting. When I turn on YouTube client (using WIFI), I can´t play videos. That should be ok when I got problem with internet connection. But YouTube client shows on the welcome screen preview of today´s added videos. So the question is why should application download preview of video, but it can´t play the video? I´m a little bit confused
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had tried that already and it did not work. I don't think it is just my cellphone. There are many comments re the HD2 that make it clear that it does not work with a Parrot handsfree carkit, Motorola S9 headset etc, and the 2 earlier posts reveal problems using WiFi too. It seems to be problematic on many fronts. I cannot even connect it using Windows Mobile via an USB port! And while I appreciate all suggestions it seems to me that this model is a (very expensive) lemon and frustrates huge numbers of owners. I find it odd that a 2 year old Nokia N95 can connect and browse instantly and a 'smart phone' doesn't work at all. I find it to be very gimmicky. I don't need twitter, facebook etc. I need voice dial, good PC software (like Ovi and PC suite) and bluetooth that works etc. The HD2 has none of this, but great graphics of a windscreen wiper, exactly the sort of pointless gimmick that reveals that the designers were interested in making a toy and not a useful phone.
I suggest you try and install "HTC_Wi-Fi_onDemand_by_Krocher". This program will always use wifi when available and stop the GPRS from connecting and will also keep your wifi on a stand-by. Please do read through the thread as you have to make sure that no programs using wifi are activated when you want it to be off. For me it solved several problems with wifi.
Second thought is to upgrade to one of the much more stable and already tweaked OS's. There are quite a lot out and you'll find everything about that on this forum as well.
Last thought, if it does not work it must be something to do with either the settings or the OS version as for others it works absolutely fine. These are complicated phones that, much like computers, must be set and tweaked to the correct settings in order to get the best out of them. If you just want a "buy and run" phone this is not the one.
Success,
Itamar
Hi,
My apologies if this is the incorrect section. I know the Virgin Mobile SGS2 is NOT the I9100 model, however the correct phone was not listed on this site (nearest is the T-Mobile model, but the options differ on their phone).
I'm experiencing an issue with trying to enable the wireless hotspot option for my phone. In every instance I have tried, I have received errors that ad-hoc failed to start and related problems. Let me make it clear that this version of the samsung galaxy DOES NOT have the option to turn on wireless tethering in the native settings menu (it's simply not there). My carrier most likely hid the option because it is an extra $15 a month to use the feature. I can, however, attempt to start the hotspot service with a third party app, but it runs for no more than 3 seconds and I get error 67:" Unable to connect to data network, turning off Hotspot..."
My phone is rooted and I have full access to edit system files (I did so to remove the ear-piercing camera shutter noise). I am using the stock rom and do not intend to flash a different rom to this phone. To lessen redundant suggestions that have been said hundreds of times and have failed to fix my issue, here is everything I have done:
Attempted to use FoxFi. All this app does is start the native hotspot capability on your phone, so I got the same error 67. No network connection. The network only appears for a split second when enabling the native hotspot setting, but since the phone turns it off, I can't connect to it.
Attempted to use Barnacle. I receive the error "Could not set ad-hoc mode of wlan0: Operation not supported on transport endpoint."
Attempted to use Wifi Tether for Rooted Users (for some reason this app is listed as "Not Compatible" for my phone in Google Play). Again, I receive an error that setting ad-hoc failed. All other services start successfully though, but the network does not appear for my PC to connect to.
Checked to make sure my 3G/4G is actually on and functioning.
Despite all this, I CAN utilize the USB tether feature just fine in PdaNet. It's the wireless hotspot that is eluding me. I know that flashing a different rom can get me around this issue, but I really would prefer to resolve this problem without doing that if it's possible. One thread I read said something about editing a .db file, but it was for an HTC phone and I'm a little wary to try it on my phone. I'm sorry for coming off rather cross, but I'm just a bit frustrated as every solution I find never works. It seems like this would be a simple thing to do. Is there a system file I can edit that will allow my phone to enable its native hotspot capabilities? Or something that will resolve the ad-hoc issue? Or am I blindly over-looking something obvious? If nothing will work except for flashing, then hey, at least I tried. It's not going to kill me if I can't get the wireless tethering to work, but it was one of the reasons I wanted to root my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I randomly figured out the problem myself. Downloaded something on a whim and it actually worked. Let me go through each step so anyone else who has this same problem can try this out.
The majority of what I did can be followed here:
*Can't post the link. Thank you, forum restrictions... It's from a website called "highonandroid.com" so google that with the appropriate keywords (wifi tether, android, etc.).
But in case the link goes dead or something like that, here is a step-by-step reiteration:
1. Download Trev-E's mod for the Wifi Tether for Root Users app. I have the exact version I used attached to this post.
2. Install it, and immediately go to settings and make the following adjustments:
- Change device profile to "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)."
- Change setup-method to "Netd-Ndc (master)."
- Tick the option "Send Netd Max Client Cmd."
- Tick "Wifi driver reload." The second one did not work for me, but try it if the first reload does nothing.
- Although the original tutorial says to tick "MSS clamping," this option is not available on my phone. But this did not stop the app from working.
3. Exit settings and hit the wifi icon. Fingers crossed it works for you!
After doing that, the app showed no errors in the log, the network name appeared on my computer, and I was able to connect effortlessly. Most importantly, the internet worked!
Also, enabling/disabling the tether DID NOT break my phone's wifi or 3G service. Everything ran fine when I stopped using the app and I didn't need to restart my phone. Putting this out there because I know some phones will trip out when enabling this feature. Good luck! And big thanks to xda's Trev-E for the app.
Thank you! That was driving me nuts trying to tether my GS2 to my tablet. I dont have the clamping option either but its working perfectly when nothing else has.
Nice instructions. I rooted my phone today (root virgin), downloaded the trev-e you have linked and got it to work. (Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII 4G)
I then tried to use encryption and the phone was just not having it, the internet connection wouldn't work anymore (laptop was connected but said there was no internet access). Frooze up the phone, had to reboot, frooze again, reboot, turn the feature off, freeze, reboot, pull battery etc etc. Finally have it working again with encryption off.
Pretty happy to have tethering working, but wish I could encrypt it haha.
Do I have the wrong TrevE using the stock ROM? (using the TrevE linked in this thread).
Now to learn what else to do in the wonderful world of being rooted...
*** EDIT- Looks like installing busybox fixed the issue!!
Thanks!
Awesome work, follow the instructions if you have virgin mobile it will work perfectly
