Hey, I just got my hands on a Bell PPC6800 and am wanting to flash it. I'm really new to this so I've been trying to read up on things before I do it because I don't want to ruin work's phone.
Is there a way to get the stock rom from the phone in case I want to go back to it? I've seen a link to download it but it was broken.
Goto the Ustarcom website.
http://www.utstar.com/pcd/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=76&cid=16&mid=264&carrier=Bell Mobility
click on the EXE link. And download the file.
Note:
This completely resets your phone. Even the hard time counters.
It will be a brand new phone.
With that said, make sure you get the your MSL, MSDN, MSID numbers first. You'll need to re-enter them.
Same when you flash a new radio.

Hello,
What I have done:
1. Unlocked with Olipro 2.40
2. Upgraded Radio to 3.35.4
3. Have flashed with several roms DCD3.0.1 Bell, DCD3.1.1, PPC Kitchen.
My problem:
At some point I must have carelessly flashed my phone with a sprint firmware. I am now stuck in Roaming and have no Data connection.
More Info & what I have tried:
1. I have read ogrins81 post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363693&highlight=FOR+BELL
This appears to be my issue, but I am not exactly sure what he did to fix it, what is the PRL file for and how can it be used? I tried DCD3.0.1 Bell hoping that would fix it but it does not.
2. ##778# - Works but it as me for a unlock code I do not have.
3. ##111111# - Does nothing now, this is what I used before.
4. I have run the Bell.cab from DCD3.1.1, didn't help
5. If i goto ##778# then view, MSID is correct but my ESN looks wrong, its should be my phone number as well shouldn't it?
Any help you can give me, I would be very thankful for, I have been on these and other forums for hours looking for a fix. And so far nothing I have found seems to work.
I'm not sure how Bell works with their MSL, but you need to do one of two things.
1. Your MSL (unlock code) is 000000.
2. If it isn't 000000, you need to use GetSPC and plug in your ESN in HEX (case sensitive) to generate your MSL.
After that, you need to get the latest PRL, put it on your phone, then use EPST (in edit mode) to manually select it.
Thank you very much that seems to have brought me one step closer. However it is still not working properly.
What I have done:
1. Used GetSPC to successfully recover the code and enter EPST
2. I went to View Info>PRL> Update PRL file, and selected 0TM31398.030 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363693&highlight=FOR+BELL&page=3
3.Rebooted as it instructed to do so.
New/Continuing Issues:
1. My phone is no longer in roaming however it says I am with SprintPCS Now
2. Still have no data.
3. In EPST the NAM Name = SPCS, should this have not been changed with the PRL file?
That does not look like a PRL to me. I could be wrong because I dont know much about Bell...but PRL's are usually 5 digit names...all numbers...for example the Verizon PRL is 51020.prl. I bet if you get the proper prl and update using the same method as you used..youll be ok
The question then is where am I going to get a Bell PRL file, that link was the only one I could find. I also tried the "0000EPST.004" located inside "dcd Titan Carrier - Bell.cab" with no luck. Now I am trying to manually change PRL settings but it wont even let me change MNC to a 3digit number for bell, it wants 2 digits.
Things are kinda looking bleak Any one with a PRL file or a bell phone that could get me the PRL settings?
That IS a working PRL file, download it and use total commander to remove the txt extension and update your PRL
After reading up on Bell PRL's, the file you originally tried is the PRL for bell phones. You MUST make sure to get rid of the .txt extension on the end of it before you import it. DON'T just rename it. If you don't know how to do that, then let me know.
I tried it, and removed the .txt, it seemed to go in, but it didn't do anything. Most recently I have relocked my phone and flashed Bells firmware. Now it says I am bell again and calls work, but I still have no data. And the MNC still is just 00, maybe that is correct though?

How did you go about removing the .txt extension?
I have tried the file as both 0TM31398.030 and 0TM31398.PRL
renamed it in windows, I have my own computer company the file was renamed correctly

I am not doubting your expertise...but humor me..
did you let the customizations run after you installed the sprint ROM?
your phone was programmed with the sprint ERI. you need to get the bell ERI. I am not yet sure how you would do that...
I downloaded the txt file, two slow click to rename, removed the .txt extension. I have have "hide ext for known types" unchecked.

Yes I believe that is what happened. Would have thought re-locking and re-flashing with bells firmware would undo that? But it doesn't look like it did.

Anyone able to give this guy a copy of the Bell stock extrom?
Would this help at all? Got no idea about how bell operates...but I was fishing through some files from their Maintenance Update on 5/8 and found it.
Also, what would happen if he tried just flashing the bell ruu executable? No dice?

i guess i for some reason thought a bell ruu wasnt available. it should flash the extrom, which should fix his problem.
that cab you posted may be the fix anyway..
No luck, I am going to try and flash the firmware with one that the Bell Support suggested then run the patch again.
Try flashing this

can someone please tell me the steps tp a succesful rom flash. i cannot seem to get it right. and if it helps im trying to flash hibbys rom 1.6. i have the rom downloaded and have the romupdateutility software. what next???
did you unlock your phone yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
after you unlock
download RUU (rom update utiliti)
download rom you want.
extract both.
put rom into RUU folder, and run RUU.exe utililty)
There are 3 roms that can be flashed
The first is the bootloader. This is whats called hardspl. You need to flash the hardspl first, then you can flash the other roms.
The other ROMS are the Operating System, and the Radio (phone software)
They both use the same ruu software, but you put in different files to flash different things.
First thing, flash the spl to unlock the phone! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503
Can someone clarify this for me:
1) After I unlock the phone (with CDMA SPL), can I use any Touch Pro ROM, or do I need a Sprint/CDMA version of the ROMs?
2) Does changing ROM and/or SPL void sprint warranty? Will they be able to tell?
Thanks, I think these answers should be Sticky+Wiki because I cant find reliable info anywhere...
Thanks!

Yes CDMA and yes always flash back to stock if you have to take it in...at this time there is no signed version though...
Everything you need to do step by step:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43266
Just don't forget to unlock before you begin....
Also be sure to NOT use a GSM ROM (Fuze). You need CDMA if your with sprint.
I am new to this ROM issue but what's the deal with changing the ROM?

There are a couple different reasons to change your ROM. When you get right down to it, its just personal preference.
1) To help speed the device up. This is done my tweaking the ROM and removing or adding programs to your taste. Personally, I don't flash my rom to increase speed, my sprint TP is actually very stable and fast out of the box. There was however lots of bloatware I would never use.
2) To totally customize your phone to the way you want it. You can do this without a ROM, but when its in the rom if you hard reset, the device is back to the same as when you first flashed. (you wouldn't have to fool with putting on or taking off all the programs and tweaks to suites your needs)
When I flash and find a rom I like, if I end up hard resetting my phone it take me less than 10 min to get me up and going good as gold. (I grab my contacts and e-mail strait from my exchange server)
I'm sure there are other reasons, if so someone can chime in.
Hope this helps.

I was looking for some help with a ppc6800. The phone I have is with ivc cellular and was looking for help with loading a new spl and a cooked rom. I have read as much as I could and everything I found was for either sprint or verizon. I have a 8525 that I have cid/sim unlocked and loaded one of josh's roms so I understand all the steps. I need to know where to look as I am new to doing cdma phones. Also this phone is already activated with ivc cellular.
Thanks for any help!
You say you did a lot of reading but I'm kind of skeptical about that since if you did you probably wouldn't be asking this question You're already in the place to look for ROMs!
Anyway, here's the steps.
1. Find and download nueSPL 2.47. It's available on this forum somewhere.
2. Install nueSPL 2.47. You will need a micoSD card 2GB or less.
3. Your OS may or may not boot after this (I can't remember as it was many months ago when I did it). So put your phone in bootloader by pressing camera+power+reset
4. Flash a new radio ROM. 3.42.50 is the latest and most recommended. You will need to go into bootloader again once this is done.
5. Find an OS ROM on here that you think you'll like. There are many options from many different people.
6. Flash the ROM via the instructions that are usually provided in the ROM's associated thread on the forum. It's very easy. You can also flash via micoSD card. Instructions for how to do that are in the wiki.
7. Install the carrier cab for your carrier. This may be the tricky part if your carrier is a small one but there should be info on here somewhere of what to do if that's the case.
8. Customize the ROM to your liking by tweaking and installing programs. Ask questions on the forums if you have to but make sure you search first.
9. Enjoy.
Anything I said you need to download you'll probably want to get before you start.
If your data doesn't work after flashing, you probably forgot to install the carrier cab. I'm putting this in because it seems to be the most common problem people ask about and it's been answered about a billion times.
You may also want to look up the aGPS fix to get faster GPS locks if you find your GPS programs take awhile to get a lock.
i want to unroot my phone. im gonna sell it to get the iphone on verizon i used the easyroot app that isnt on the market anymore.
Flash the Flashback21 ROM in this thread. I'd do the one without the radio if it were me.

Well, the process that FlashBack21 goes through before it unroots insures that it can be re-rooted extremely easily - with any of the existing methods.
If you knew that a buyer was going to prefer a certain Rooted ROM - let's say for instance the ROM that you are already using - you could just perform a "Wipe data/factory reset" in Amon_RA, followed by a SD card wipe. That would "reset your rooted ROM". Or you could follow up FlashBack21 with a re-rooting by OneClick or Dummies - that leaves the main OS software on the phone untouched, but re-installs the Amon_RA custom recovery. Then the buyer can put whatever they want on the phone.
The only thing that will not do is de-activate your phone. But that is sort of irrelevant anyway, because if the buyer turned it on and dialed *228, it would just reactivate to your account anyway - you need to call Verizon when you hand over the phone and let them know you you don't want the phone associated with your account any longer.
If you are meeting the buyer, the logical place to make the transaction is right in the Verizon store - you can get the phone disassociated from your account, and the buyer can get it set up on his/her account right there. (If the buyer is smart, they will also first ask the VZW rep to check your ESN to make sure it is clean). That, and it's a safe place to conduct the transaction.

daniel,
It occurs to me that if a VZW rep is going to transfer the phone to a different account right there in the store, they will probably perform a factory reset on the handset right there on the spot to "unprogram" (deactivate) the phone, because that's the easiest way for them to get it ready for the next account. That won't work correctly with anything but the stock recovery on the phone.
Just use Flashback21 - rooting the phone is easy these days; let the new buyer do it.

im just selling it to anyone on craigslist or anyone that wants to buy it even ppl on here that want a phone to test stuff. im gonna switch to blackberry i have so the phone wont be activated when i sell it.
This was my mother's phone originally. I worked on it like 8 months ago, so I couldn't even begin to recount the actual steps I took to get it unlocked/custom rom'd.
But I do know, it's currently showing S-OFF, hboot 1.40.1100, I've got TWRP on it, and CM 11(did that a few weeks ago to check out the latest features).
Phone has no active service through Sprint. I'm going to activate it on Ting(already checked the ESN, they say it will activate) Problem is, when I put my Galaxy s2 on Ting, I had to temp-boot the stock rom in order for the phone to do whatever it needs to do to activate service, and also if I wanted to update the PRL and whatnot. So my question is, does anyone know if that is necessary with this phone? And if so, is there an easy way to temp-boot into a stock rom to get the job done?
I came across the Boot Manager Lite app(which wouldn't load and I had to uninstall), but I assume that works with any rom zip that is flashable through cwm/twrp, which I can't seem to find one for stock.
Anyone have any ideas on the easiest way to do this? Or is it even necessary to be in stock to activate? Or if I have to go fully back to stock to activate and then back to custom, is it going to be a nightmare like I remember it being to unlock the thing originally? Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks guys.
*EDIT* Also, if anyone can give me a good answer/quick instruction, and has a Ting referral code, I'll be glad to use it when I activate. $20 for me, $20 for you. Win/Win Otherwise I'm using the code from a popular Youtuber, lol
**EDIT2** Think I may have just solved my own problem, If so, I'll post the solution, so that this thread is not a total waste.
