Question:
What features in CorePlayer that you personally like, that TCPMP doesn't have?

The skin is one. It's more beautiful.

how about playback features? technology features?
if i play movies at fullscreen, the skin wont matter
thanks for the input though, eaglesteve.

I get the feeling that TCPMP is better technology wise, as it can play flash video at least. This is ironic, as the commercial version should have been the more capable one.

hallo, interesting,
i use tcpmp for best video player,
fyi,, video *.dat just rename to *.mpg
then play in fullscreen, very easy n nice, no need video-converter software
and coreplayer for audio player,
it have optimal equalizer than tcpmp,

You need a license from adobe which they did not want to pay for (coreplayer). tcmp is not quite legal.

Don't understand?! "Not quite legal" equals "illegal" or "legal"?

i think that means "illegal" lol.

I think the Flashvideobundle was created by some enterprising soul to help us without strict regard for the legality of the process - no doubt someday someone will do the same for coreplayer but obviously I would never use it as it is not legal....

for those that follow the history behind...
TCPMP is Coreplayer, but that was during the Alpha and Beta stage.
once the product became 1.0 it turned into CorePlayer, so it stopped being free.
many software you find in Sourceforge.net usually starts free, then after much help from the public on feedback, code fix, etc, they turn it into a released product, and forever the source code is forgotten in the past.

I use TCPMP for youtube videos, it would have been nice if the guy on treocentral that did the flashvideobundle had made it easy to add other flash sites to the mix so youtube wouldn't be the only one supported. (I used to use TCPMP for everything video and audio wise)
I use corplayer for video and and audio, internet radio streams (supports a lot of streams tha TCPMP doesn't). It would have been nice if it was skinable though (it prolly is but don't think so, never really checked it out).

Things have changed since I last posted. Now I definitely much much prefer coreplayer rather than TCPMP. For those of you still not aware, you can use Coreplayer to search for and stream youtube directly without having to download and save the flv file first. The streaming speed and picture quality is very good.

yeah, but coreplayer can't compare to TCPMP's youtube quality. Do the comparison for yourself, download a video with subtitles with CorePlayer and try to read it, then do the same with TCPMP and see which is better.

No TCPMP on Athena X7510 Original ROM
It is not working on my new Athena X7510 with WM6.1 original rom. It gives an crush.txt error.
I've tested 0.72 an 0.81 version. Any help?

I tested the performance of the two using a video I've downloaded.
Both were set to play the video in raw frame buffer, highest quality.
Result:
Coreplayer: 105.95%
TCPMP: 89.5%
Visually I could not detect any difference, but if we go by the benchmark, then coreplayer wins.

My friend I stream my youtube videos, it would make little sense for me to download them on my computer and then watch them on the phone. I find that tcpmp gives me the best youtube quality. I will give you a a video to try.
install tcpmp and the flashvideobundle plugin, then search youtube (full youtube not mobile youtube) with pocket IE for bleach 166 part 1/2 or part 2/2 and watch with tcpmp, click on the video and play.
then use coreplayer youtube and search for that same video and see which gives the best viewing experience.
truth the be told I had problems with core player just to start viewing the video even though I'm over my home wifi connection, all coreplayer did for me was mainly buffer and more buffering.
tcpmp played fine and crisp (I got a little buffer over 3G though, but once I give the video a 10 or 15 seconds before I hit the play button at the beginning there is no problem).

it seems you're trying to run the old tcpmp on WM6.1, you'll have to get the recompiled version that works for WM6.1
here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387
make sure you get the flashvideobundle plugin too

Why not use TCPMP? Works GREAT, plays everything I have here.
You can get it for example together with PK 2.0, also a lot of other cool stuff.

1. Check for codecs, I'm playing w WMV here right now. Windows Media Video 8 codec through FFmpeg plugin.
2. If nothing helps - you can recode the videos into the codec TCPMP recognises, there's a plethora of tools available.
Jack
Are you running real vga, if so this is a known problem, and there is a fix cab for it somwhere, in the pk 2.0 rom forum.
thanks for advise. i thing i meesed some setting. i might flash it to pk2 rom see how its goes.

i found that all i had to do was to go back to 192 dpi in real vga and then do the following.
if the program opens up in the library screen, tap ok to get to the main player window.
tap menu
tap options
tap the skin tab
let the picture of the skin load
close the program
set real vga back to 96 dpi
works like a dream for me.

Rock Player (Demo player) not working?

I came from Winmo 6.5 and missed my dearly Coreplayer.
So found and installed Rock Player (which is called Demo Player after install?) but no matter what I do: no video whatsoever is played. I have .wmv files, .avi, .mp4: I tap the filename and rock player goes back to the dir view.
Anyone else know about this issue? Or did I miss something?
You should use Meridian. It's very nice but only plays mp4.
Xvid and wmv is not hardware supported but you can use xyflash to play them. It just lags. You will have to wait for coreplayer 2.0 for android.

No, he doesn't. Rockplayer Beta works wonderfully with divx, xvid, mkv and the likes.
same here i cant get rockplayer to work on my legend.
As far as I know Rock Player is an old project of getting vlc to work on android. Only problem is that is isn't designed to be running on the mobile platform. It works for some but I tried every apk I could find but never got it running on my Legend.
I myself am looking forward to CorePlayer. It is going to do all that is missing in videoplayback on android.
Thats just my 2 cents.

rockplayer is freaking awesome on my N1
Works great on Desire, however the latest they have added a watermarking!
If it shows "Demo Player", then you are installing the logo hacked version of first close beta of RockPlayer. The later URL posted is the official public beta which is much more stable.
I strongly suggest you to have a look at the release announce at www . diffthink.com /forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4 , it helps to understand why some phone cannot run it.

It's terribly sluggish on mine.
The latest beta for Rockplayer now supports the Legend, excellent! And the performance is superb with very little slowdown, if any.
doesn't work on my Hero (2.1) as well. It just keeps on going back to the file explorer window. Samsung Galaxy Spica has DivX support and it works like a charm.
Working great on my Evo.

WORKS!! Finally.. great player!
Yeah, the lastest version works really great. Btw, yxflash is screwed.
Keep getting Installation Failed on my 2.1 Hero (ezHero v5.0)
Works on my friends hero, same firmware, any suggestions?
NEVER MIND, think my original download was corrupt, after re-downloading and installing it worked.
GREAT APP!
Can anyone please reupload or send me a link to a working version of Rockplayer ? The link here is dead.
I have the Demoplayer version and it keeps crashing everytime I try to play a file (tried avi video, and mp3 music).
edit : I downloaded a version from the market, but it doesn't play my avi files (tried a random episode of BBT, 175MB) - it says it can't play in system mode and freezes in normal mode. This version can at least play audio, which couldn't be more useless to me.
@grandioso
Which Rom do you use? I think that if you use Azure rom, the rock player won't work. It has something to do with camera library, if they change it so that the player would work, then the camera doesn't work. So the devs decieded that most users prefers working camera. I must say it's a right decision, but maybe some one will find a solution to this problem.

[Q] coreplayer vs TCPMP for movie playback?

Sorry guys I know this has been asked in various guises and people debate the access to subtitles and ac3 filter.
I currently use TCPMP on my phone so that my young son can watch movies on it when we travel (cartoons etc)
It was fine until I recently tried to upgrade the netdrg version (one that I like and seems to work nice out of the box) to v2.1 and I have had some problem.
Doing to do a ROM upgrade over Xmas so trying to decide what software I want to install on it, what looks to keep and what to bin etc.
Ignoring the cost aspect and bearing in mind the purpose is to watch (say) Kung Fu Panda in full screen mode, is there any benefit of one over the other:
-ease of use; quality of playback etc?
Specifically I would probably look to use Netfrg v2. (once I can find a solution to the skin problem) vs Coreplayer 1.36 (latest version I think)
Both Coreplayer and TCPMP don't use hardware acceleration, so it may be worth using Windows Media Player.
You can use this converter to get the files into a format WMP can play, it also supports HD inputs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
As per your original question, TCPMP is free but Coreplayer seems to have more settings and supports streaming from myplayer (which I use to watch live TV).
I've not noticed any particular difference in quality, it just depends on the quality of the original file I suppose. As for ease of use, they're pretty much the same I think. All the basic functions you need are on the main player screen and they both support playlists.
A couple of notes about Coreplayer I've noticed though, it has single click pause enabled by default so if you try changing between full screen/normal mode it keeps pausing it. Also, repeat is on by default. These are both minor points and can be changed in the settings menu.
Hope that helps.
Many thanks.
Re-encoding takes and age and it is much easier to drag and drop avi files on the SD card to watch on the fly which is why I have not bothered with the WMP option to date
I recommend you using any build of android, then use the rockplayer, the version for the Arm v7, it works flawlessly and accept any type of media.
good to know thanks.
Android dual boot is pencilled-in after the upgrade to WWE 3.14

[Q] Any working video player for the x10 mini?

I have a SE x10 mini wich has a MSM7227 processor, wich is ARMv6 VFP CPU with Adreno 200 GPU. Like HTC Legend, and some other phones.
I've tried rockplayer, vplayer and moboplayer (in all versions when other build than arm6 vfp was aviable) and I have this problem:
1. If I use normal hardware decoding, the video does not play (blank screen) and the audio sounds bad and plays like 3 times faster.
2. If I use software decoding, the video and sound plays, but synchronization is lost and the framerate is not smooth.
Tested with several normal avi (xvid mp3) files.
download vital player..its really good u can also try qq player..both r free and available on market..
Thanks.
qqplayer lags too. Vital Player works, keeps audio and video synchronized, but has some framerate issues.
Any other options?
It seems to be a problem with your decoding when you convert your videos. The absolut best thing to do is to use Format Factory and use the preset for iPhone. Then just modify the pre-setting a little regarding screensize and boost the framrate a little. When it´s converted into *.mp4 it will run fine even on the mini´s stock player.

What folder do you have to put the videos to be listed in the default player?
I have my videos in a folder called "video" on my SD. I´m not sure if I made the folder myself or if my player made it...

Meridian player is my favourite both for in 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs, stable to both firmwire, and a click on the power button will turn the screen off, and thus we don't have to convert those mp4 files into mp3 format to listen to.
but the recent update is NOT good. it just adds ad... So I have to downgrade it manually to get grid of those annoying ad.
QQ Player is good too to save battery life by lowering the video quality, who care decoding 720p video in such a tiny screen, no I don't ;-)
Rock Player for V6 ARM processor was used to be my beloved, but it's NO LONGER a freeware, so I gave it up.
Hope these may help.

Video playback - not smooth

Hello.
Who does have any experience with video playback?
I always record TV-Shows and watch them here and there.
Did try yesterday with the X10 mini pro and the video was not smooth at all.
I tried several players. Either the voice was normal speed and video was going way slower or video was hanging/jumping every few seconds to catch up with voice.
It's not HD. I did attach the file information.
I'm running on slades froyo rom (v5).
Thanks.

Sometimes I end up watching a video or two as well, the best player for this that I found was vPlayer, a special version for low end devices, it has an option for maximum speed, which allows me to play tv show rips or movies with no problem.
I can't find free version of vPlayer in the market... Only the unlocker, which requires the free version... weird.
Wait and will see if somebody else has some suggestions too.
Thank you.
