How to get rid of on screen keyboard? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hey -
Since we have a built in full qwerty keyboard on the Titan, I hardly ever need to use my on screen keyboard...but it keeps popping up when I click on text boxes, etc.
I only want it to show up when I click on the keyboard icon in the middle of the bottom bar.
How do I stop the input device from showing by default? it is so annoying.

I have found that the best way to get rid of it is to hit the keyboard icon at the bottom middle and then start typing and it won't pop up as a default next time.

[Q] Remove the language bar?

Has anybody worked out how to remove the language bar which pops up when texting yet? If I have the sudden urge to switch to Catalan half way through a text I will do it long-hand, that bar takes up too much of the already small screen!
Could you post a photo of what you mean, cost I don't get any language bar come up

I cant post a pic of it at the moment, but let me try to explain it better. When i go to enter text using the hardware keyboard a blue bar appears at the bottom of the screen (taking up approx 1/5 of the screen) with "Eng" on the left and an icon to show the status of the Caps lock on the right, along with a close button. This annoys the hell out of me as often when filling in passwords etc it covers up the "Ok" button.
Only way I found on mini pro is
Settings - Locale & Text
Uncheck the default input tick box
This works well on mini pro but stops you using virtual keyboard

Is a good intermediate solution but someone knows a way to get rid of this bar without losing the virtual keyboard?
It's build in built-in keyboard and I think it could not be removed (not easily without root hacks). The half-solution without root is to use another software keyboard.
Yeah installing third party keyboard software gets rid of the blue language bar.
I'm using SlideIt Keyboard which changes the virtual keyboard to a funky Swype-like keyboard but removes the language bar when using the hardware keyboard.

Can anyone recomend a decent keyboard replacement.
Also, i've asked this before (didn't get much of a reposnse) but is there a way to get spell check with the hardware keyboard?

I use AnySoftKeyboard, which is free and provides a reasonably good keyboard for when I don't want to open the hardware keyboard.

Currently there doesn't appear to be one.
I have ended up installing AnySoft keyboard too. Its ok, but removes the function where you could long-press a key to access the blue alternate option on it. It has removed the language bar though so its good enough for me!

Removing the arrow(?) when entering text

Every time I have to enter text, for say a text message, and I have my phone vertical, the upper left letters are blocked by the arrow that sits below the input field (the thing you use to select and copy text). Is there a way to turn that off? It makes using Swype a pain.
For clarification, I am referring to when you open a text field (text message, tweet, status update, etc) in vertical mode, below the blinking cursor is a pointer. It blocks the Q and W on my phone. Any ideas?
wait a few seconds for it to go away?

It doesn't go away until I push another key.
it goes away if i sit there for a second
i use swiftkey x beta and it doesnt cover up any of the keyboard
I might have to try that one. Swype has me kinda spoiled, though.
Latest Swype version has it. Kinda annoying.
Just realized what you guys are talking about...I know late right. Smart keyboard has a transparent arrow with an outline, no text blockage.

Q: Any solutions for constantly hitting taskbar menu while typing?

Whenever I type using the on screen keyboard (using thumb keyboard, but happens with them all), I CONSTANTLY hit the status bar and the menu pops up. If I'm lucky I notice before i touch the screen again but about half the time i manage to turn wifi off, bluetooth on/off.... It drives me bonkers. Anyone also have this problem? Any solutions for it? Any way to move status bar to the top? I've tried making the bottom row of keys bigger in thumb keyboard settings, but i'm still doing it
Seems I can only find something for Honeycomb;

Not sure if there is any solution to lock the taskbar when the keyboard is up or not. I'd love that feature too.
Similar issue but with the menu button
I have a similar issue, but I keep clicking menu button with my palm (see picture attached). Anyone has the same issue? Any solutions?
Are you on a stock ROM? You can lock the status bar.

Hide the whole task (notification) bar with Gesture Control
Also does custom gestures etc, but most useful is hiding the notification bar i think

EDIT-
Seems he released a free version of the HideBar tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28694868
so if you only want to remove the bar (and restore it) use this tool ... however he probs could do with the money support

[Q] Shostock keyboard

I installed v1.8 of Shostock3 this morning -- did a full, wipe coming from v1.7. All seemed to be fine until I got a text. When I tapped to type, a new keyboard popped up -- one that I don't recognize. It's kind of a floating keyboard with a tab at the top that allows you to move it around. Unfortunately, the keyboard takes up a lot of screen real estate so it usually covers the input box so you can't see what you're typing. Also, the sym/123 keyboard is really different -- it doesnt show the numbers at all and has really big keys with symbols on them. Can anyone tell me what I have done to get this new keyboard? Is it an upgrade in 1.8? Is there anyway to go back to the one I had in 1.7? I have searched -- seems I'm the only lucky one with this keyboard? Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Keyboard Bug?

Is this a bug with the keyboard software on the LG G3, or some kind of feature? I know it's not my touch screen, because the touches are registering properly through the developer options "show touches". Note: the circle is the location I'm touching that is being displayed by that option. I have to click almost like a whole row lower than what I want. It only does it on the characters that come up with long pressing the period, so I'm thinking software bug? Does your keyboard do this?

Yes, same issue here--drove me nuts...and back to Google Keyboard. Did it on the symbols pop up, and bad on numbers row, as well. Too bad, and I sort of liked the layout. But, Google Keyboard is still my go-to keyboard app.
Yeah, I had a similar experience. I switched before I could really care too much though, I usually bounce between Swiftkey and the Google keyboard. The goggle keyboard, android L preview edition is my go-to as a daily
