I know there is no free utility yet to CID unlock the G4 devices. Those of you that have unlocked your G4's at the IMEI-Check site http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php Is this just a SIM unlock or also a CID unlock?
If it is a CID unlock are you now able to make a ROM backup using the R2SD method shown in post 8 of this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258819&highlight=r2sd+backup
This is my main reason for wanting to CID unlock. I want to be able to make a full ROM backup with this method, before trying any new ROMs. My CID locked 9100 gives me this error "You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image" when I try a R2SD backup

Go ahead and you will be able to do r2sd backups and restore after CID unlock at imei-check.co.uk.
Nishad
So does this CID unlock the phone if it's a G4, you're a bit unclear?
IMEI check is SIM and CID unlocking. If you are gonna do it, see my post here.
yes... using the method availble at imei-check.co.uk will very much CID-unlock your device
NOTE: There's been a lot of posts regarding this subject but the fact of the matter is that you do in fact get your phone CID-unlocked at this website despite what you may have read in other threads...
What are the security or other implications of handing over my IMEI to them? Is that safe?

No worse than handing over your credit card info to them.
IMEI Check is a reputable company, and doing what they do, it is in their best interest to safeguard your information. Also, I've never seen any complaints against them that weren't about how much they charged for their service.
They DO intimate that they can re-lock your phone remotely if you back out on payment, but if you deal in good faith, I don't ever see that as a problem.
Of course, YMMV, but probably not.
How many..?
Hi,
I've heard that my device will be CID locked again after applying one of the ROMs. Does this mean I have to CID unlock my device again??
Just to be sure I can restore my backup ;-)
I've already paid for the CID unlocking, but it seems that the extended rom specifically NEVER installs. This, to me, seems like its not unlocked if that isn't working, or at least not fully unlocked. I've run the unlocking tool (from imei-check) 3 times now, I believe, and installed many different ROMs.
How can you CHECK if the unlock worked on a G4?
moonrock You may check CID having started Prophet in mode bootloader and having started mtty142 and take command info 2 - You see your CID.
imei-check does not do unlocking ExtROM this absolutely area miscellaneous.

Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290831 where it's explained what arc is talking about in first paragraph
Second paragraph means that ExtROM isn't unlocked by IMEI-check because it's an independent partition of the DOC chip which is write-protected in G3 2.xx and all G4

I've got an pre-December X01HT that I originally unlocked using imei-check's unlocker, and then made SuperCID by flashing pof's radio and running his unlocker v2a.
If I run Softbank's upgrader on it, will it stay unlocked, or did Softbank figure out how to re-lock the phones with the upgrade? It's important that I be able to continue to use the phone with both my Softbank and Globe (phils.) sim cards...
Thanks,

i have no idea why you used both the unlockers, but my x01ht unlocked by imei-check is still unlocked after i burn the new s/b rom. also, i believe it still has supercid since i can still switch between docomo rom and s/b rom.
apply the imei-check unlocker again, and look for welcome.exe in \windows\start up. back it up, and install it whenever you hard-reset. (i don't know if this little program is installed only on s/b rom, tho...) without this program, x01ht will give you a "wrong sim" warning pop-up even though your device is actually unlocked. it kills this sim monitoring process.

My device is also still unlocked after ungrade, but can not unlock ExtROM.
How do you do ? Is your device unlocked ExtROM ?
I think that it can not be SuperCID after upgrade, only can unlock SIM.

you are right. with the s/b rom, ext rom is always locked. however, if you burn the s/b rom and then burn the docomo rom, you can see ext rom is unlockable. i can check the cid status when i am back home.

I know that if burn the docomo rom can unlock ExtROM(I am using this one).
Do you know the way that unlock ExtROM on s/b rom ?
My friend did that on Bootloader1.09 and New radio rom. But he used pof's unlocker(v2a). I think that it is diferrent between pof's unlocker and ime-check unlocker.

my cid was VODAK801. so, it was my misunderstanding that i thought my device still kept supercid after burning the s/b rom. it looks like it's been fixed to the s/b cid although i use it with the docomo rom now after unlocking by imei-check and burning the new s/b rom. interesting.

i have been always thinking, somehow, that imei-check's unlocker unlocks sim-lock and changes cid status to supercid, but it does not change cid at all? is it the reason why awh used pof's unlocker after imei-check's unlocker??
Yes, imei-check unlocker downgrades to bootloader 1.04, removes SIMLock and sets the device SuperCID, but the supercid status is lost when another ROM or radio ROM is flashed.
In my unlocker, Herm_Unlock_v2a.exe makes the SuperCID stay forever once patched radio has been flashed.

Yes... I only applied pof's unlocker recently. Before, I never found the need for supercid, since I could just drop down to bootloader 1.04 to put a different rom on... But now the newest roms can't be unlocked if the device is not supercid.
Well, I'm going to hold on until the bitter end, will apply Softbank's rom on 3/31 if nobody has come up with the new password at that point...

now, i understand... well, i have lost a chance to run pof's unlocker to make my x01ht to keep supercid for good since i have burnt the new s/b rom once. on the other hand, it could be the reason why they had mine repaired since someone who used pof's unlocker got rejected by s/b to have his x01ht repaired... it's catch 22...
I did
I could unlock ExtROM on X01HT(Upgrade to New ROM=1.33.761.4, Radio ROM=1.14.00.10, Protocol=32.50.7018.00h).
I did as follow's way:
1. simunlock by imei-check unlocker.
2. Burn the Docomo rom.(=already unlocked ExtROM)
3. use pof's unlocker(maybe make device SuperCID)
4. Upgrade rom with RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4.1.14.00.10
5. Now I can use docomo sim and softbank sim, also can unlock ExtROM.

Just to make this clear... which rom did you have when you ran the imei-check unlocker?
To unlock ExtROM device must be SuperCID, to make it SuperCID device must have a flashable radio, so obviously he was running the rom PRE december 2nd with 1.06 bootloader on it.
thanks pof. that's what i thought but wanted keiuchid to make it clear to everyone as it could confuse some people that it could be done with the post 12/2 rom.

questions:
on step2- did you get the rom docomo rom from the wiki hermes ROM upgrade link list and what SPL value at the time?
on step4- after the upgrade softbank rom, what is the SPL
on step5- how do you able to use docomo and softbank sim and unlock the extrom - because if you have now the softbank SPL 1.09 and radio rom 1.14, you should not able to unlock your SIM. please explain. thanks in advance.
(may be i'm missing something here)
Please note that keiuchid's X01HT was sold Previous December 2nd, this is the most important, otherwise he could not have done it.

SPL on his original rom was 1.06, then he applied imei-check unlocker, so the SPL downgraded to 1.04. After this he applied the DoCoMo ROM found in the wiki, which has SPL-1.04.

On this step the SPL is upgraded to 1.09, but he purchased imei-check unlocker, so he can downgrade it to 1.04 at any time, by just applying the unlocker.

His X01HT simlock was removed on step 1, and Flashing a ROM does NOT re-lock it. So, once SIM-Unlocked, it's SIM-unlocked forever.
His device was made SuperCID with Herm_Unlock_v2a.exe on step 3, he applied it while running the 1.16 patched radio, so his device will be SuperCID forever.
After this he flashed Softbank's ROM with "read only" radio, now he has a Sim-Unlocked and CID-Unlocked device, where he can switch ROMs and put any provider's SIM to his liking, but he will keep the Softbank 1.14 radio ROM at least until we see any ROM upgrade which is able to overwrite this radio ROM (which is not available yet).
Hope this makes the situation clear to you all
okay, being a newbie to the Softbank X01HT, I went through the forums, FAQs, and Wiki as much as I can...
anyway, i checked with imei-check in regards to unlocking my SIM; however, their method unlocks the SIM, as well as SuperCID the device. from what i undertand - SuperCID the device would void the warranty, correct?
this being the case, if i do use imei-check, is there a way to "undo" the SuperCID?
similary, i can also use a process that only unlocks the SIM, ie., pof's free unlocker... however, as ive read, this is NOT compatible with Softbank X01HT models released after December 2006. right?
in this case, are there any other ways to unlock the SIM?
----
on the other hand, all i need is to unlock the SIM (no need for a SuperCID) - if there are people out there who have a better idea in going about this, please teach me...
thanks in advanced...!!!
PS: here is my Softbank X01HT
ROM: 1.33.761.4
ROM Date: 11/10/06
Radio Version: 1.14.00.10
As far as I know once you supercid it can't be reversed. I believe that if you use the hard-spl to flash, supercid isn't required anymore.
Now onto the unlocking the sim. I'm also a little bit confused on the options available. Please one of the gurus here step in and offer an explanation

the way i would understand is that if imei-check.co.uk unlocker is used, there arent any issue or problems. can anyone confirm/verify this?
however, for my needs at least - all i need is for my X01HT to be SIM unlocked. i dont need it to be SuperCID, nor i need to flash any other ROM. and unfortunately, imei-check cannot do this (there are NO options for a SIM unlock-only, or a SIM unlock and SuperCID)...
i hope any of the gurus here can help, or at least confirm this understanding...
old X01HT can perfectly unlocked by V3.
how do you know the date about your X01HT produced?

well, if you look at the System Info tag in Settings you'll see a date... mine is at:
>ROM: 1.33.761.4

Just for clarification:
imei-check temporarily SuperCIDs your device, you lost the SuperCID status when you flash another radio on it.
With the 1.16 patched radio included in my unlocker you also temporarily SuperCID the device, then you have to run the exe file on your Hermes which will let you choose if you just want to SIM-Unlock or both (do the SuperCID sticky forever). If you don't choose the SuperCID option, then the SuperCID status is lost when you flash another radio on it.
I have had reports of people unlocking without problems X01ht devices with v3, but some others reported they can't boot OS after unlocking, and as I can't test it I put the warning, so do it at your own risk.
Anyway, I'm planning to release a new unlocker version soon

on the other hand, what do you mean by "temporarily SuperCIDs..."...? would it mean that the device is still registered to Softbank and at the same time you can flash another ROM?
all i want though is just have my device SIM-free so i dont have to deal with exorhbitant roaming rates when travelling abroad... not much privy with playing with other ROMs, yet; as well as not wanting to void my warranty.

really? what would be the new stuff that youd be adding in?
I am an owner of a BEFORE DEC. model X01HT and sim unlock&SuperCID by pof's v2a unlocker.
Since April is coming, I have to update the rom to use the net according SB. I wonder if the sim-unlock will remain after I update. i hope so sadly.
I, TOO, don't mind the SuperCID.
Anyway, thank pof ad waiting for the new unlocker.
ps: if i use another sim card other than SB, I can use WIFI or BT only about two minites continiously. then it will be disconnected automatically. Anyone else has same experience? I use SB_USIM to avoid the annoying popup.
I submit this post via my X01HT.
Just a question in regards to super cid. Im sure it has been posted before (maybe a thousand times) that once you super cid a hermes, its there for good, but if I brick my phone and enter info 2 and get a timing out issue (no cid), is it still there? If I un-brick my phone, will I have to re cid it? Does it do someting physicaly to the chip to never be able to remove cid?
Some info would be great..
Mal..
When you unbrick you restore the CID you had before bricking it. SuperCID if it was SuperCID, other if it wasn't... and no, it doesn't do anything physical to the chip.
having SuperCID is good for as long as you have a valid CID; if you get a bad radio flash that corrupts the CID area then you're still buggered.
Cheers.
Thanks for the reply.
Mal.
Pof too...
I know this one has been asked before, but for instance IF we are planning on sending for a warranty repair (I know i WONT but...) the possibility is there to resotre the CID to a non super-cid one correct??
So mine will be QTEK_001 for my TyTN etc...
This should be possible using the same technique the unlocker does?
So I got hspl flashed on my phone and the Lokiwiz installation seemed to go well, but how do I know if my phone is CID Unlocked?
If my phone is CID Unlocked, what roms can I flash to my phone?
No, G4 is only unlockable by using either SoftSPL or HardSPL.
Lokiwiz can only SIM unlock G4 Wizard, not CID unlock.
Oh! I see.
