hi everyone
ive just bought myself a XDAIIs pda, ive set up TOMTOM 3 sat nav and have bought a BT TomTom GPS receiver. sat navs working perfectly. but got one BIG problem, i cant find myself a decent car kit. ive tried the Arkon CM531, didnt like it-too many wires and very messy, got carkit with fixed charging through the cig-lighter- did not fit my phone as cradle was for XDAII.
Im really stuck so could anyone please help me. im looking for a car kit which will allow me to slide my xda2s in and out easily, hold it in place and also charge it at the same time whilst its in the cradle.
ANY SUGGESTIONS
Same here ! I could not find anything decent. Any suggestion welcome !

How do you deal with the Arkon RF/speaker interference?
venkie9910,
sorry for repeting my question, but I did not go an aswer yet:
I read here that it was unacceptable...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13654&start=0
how do you deal with it?
Thanks,
Chris
I got the brodit one from handnav with a pro-clip and it fits perfectly and looks good (once you've removed the tacky brodit sticker). Only problem is that the hard-wired version isn't available for the PDA2K yet and the cost! A bundle including the clip, holder and charger set me back £70, but you pay for what you get.
Hard wired one is now available with or without gps ps2 port, I have just ordered one with gps, cost £59.99 plus p+p, the pro clip for fitting to the dash cost £15.99. hopefully it will arrive next week
Hi all, I have this Bordit 849582 for sale: http://w3.easytrade.net/brodit_shop/product.dip?item=1225583&fid=1225727
Just buy yourself a Rikaline GPS mouse . Attach it in your car and slide your Qtek 2020 into the cradle and start navigating!
Interesting? Mail me or just reply!
I think people hurry into buying a bluetooth GPS which leaves them with only a hardwired option for in-car. (some exceptions with multiple bluetooth capability) I prefer the inverse combination. If you're using your nav software you need to see your phone so its going to be in a cradle anyway. If you just pop down the shops you can leave your phone in your pocket and your bluetooth carkit still works.
I'd go for a cradle with GPS built in, or a connector for extrnal GPS. Preferably powered (battery hungry these PDAs!) then BT carkit.
But be careful with carkit choice. Some have the awful echo problem. Can't add much more than that except that an M2000 and Nokia CK-7W is NOT a good combination :-(
There is a decent carkit coming that supports talk function and wired GPS. It is already available for the 2020 and its coming for the 9090. It`s based on a CMPC Carcomm cradle. If everything goes right it should be released next week. I will buy it definatly and will keep everybody posted.

Cheap and Effective Magnetic Mount
Hi,
how about trying a magnetic mount?
http://www.tangshop.com/magnetic-cell-phone-holder.html
Cheap, effective and neat (inconspicuous), but you have to stick the metallic mounting plate onto the back of your PDA (somewhere in the middle, preferably on the battery). Fortunately, the sticky pads are from 3M so they are strong and the residue can be removed with normal dabbing of scotch tape. The metal plate is thin so it does not affect the fitting to existing casings.
The part that sticks to the dash is using the same adhesive too.
I've tried this with a Bluetooth GPS and the XDA IIs on the dash, and the magnet is strong enough to hold the PDA in place even through fast corners and bumps ...
Cheers,
David
Another option is from this company:

However I couldn't find a picture of the cradle.
I have however seen the cradle in the flesh and is it very very nice... even has DSP processing for the handsfree.
It is very pricey though.
Forgot to also add this link.... has a few pictures

I do not know if they have one for the tom tom as I do not know what a tom tom is, but ProClipUSA.com has some great PDA holders for the iMate PDA 2K

Anyone found a good car holder for the TyTN? I've looked through ebay and found a few and all of them have no charging/power connector. I don't know which one fits well. I'm looking for a good cheap holder with ot without a power connector. Any recommendations?
Try the Brodit range:

There's also a thread over at Modaco.com about their stuff:

Hope this helps.
That looks really good! But I can't afford to spend £40 on a holder. I went for a simple one from ebay for a fiver. I only use it when I go on long trips and use my tytn for satnav which is very seldom.

Things to consider though is if on long journey the phone might need charging so make sure the mini usb has enough room for a car charger to be plugged in. I use the charger for Holux GPSlim 236 satnav receiver to charge both devices when in the car. The only other problem I had with my M2000 was when accelerating hard or going fast round corners the phone would be pulled out of the cradle in fact I tried loads of cradles so I'm hoping this smaller phone doesnt suffer the same problem otherwise it could be elastic band time again.
Looking at that cradle in the top link it looks like one of the bottom lugs will block access to the mini usb which is no good really. Oh well only one way to find out and thats go and buy it.
I bought one from a Vodafone shop. It's just known as a universal car holder. Cost a fiver and works great.
I can still access the mini usb and all buttons while it's fitted in there.
Hope this helps
For those who are looking for a car holder for their TP2 and can't find one yet, I have made a useful discovery.
The Brodit TyTNII Holder actually fits the TP2 better than my TyTNII ever did!
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/HTC+TyTN II-Brodit-Holder.asp
I tried it last night and it slid into the fixing nice and easily.
The only issue I had was that I have an active holder, so the miniUSB connector wasn't lined up and so wouldn't charge the phone. I'm sure with some careful modification it wouldn't be too difficult to sort that out though!
I'm now in two minds as to whether I even bother getting a proper TP2 kit when it's out!

Depends, you can just screw it into your car, but I use the Brodit Proclip which is different for every car. Mine hooks around the side of the radio and into another groove and is very solid, then the holders screw into the proclip.
Proclips are probably the best way forward, no holes in your car
I have a dashmount kit from www.dashmount.co.uk as the proclip from brodit doesn't seem to fit my car correctly.

I have the passive brodit holder for the TYTN II, but TP2 doesn't fit without scrating it.
seems to fit in my origional htc trinity carrier perfectly, only problem is i cant charge it lol so ill have to get a new one eventually
thank you for the tip!!
I have a Brodit Active holder for my old P3600 (Trinity) and it fits real nice...
After some modifications (I cut off the USB part, and super glued it back on at the correct place to fit my TP2) I now have a Brodit Active holder that I can use again!
No scratches what so ever!!
(saves me about €50 )
^Good Tips...Brodit has always been my favorate car holder for all my devices!
do you know when the TP2 model will be released?
thanks
asked brodit and they say later next week...
Brodit holders now available. Just got to wait for them to filter to your resellers now.
Active: http://www.brodit.com/productinformation.jsp?anr=512021&sortiment=null
Passive: http://www.brodit.com/productinformation.jsp?anr=511021&sortiment=null
As I have already said, looks more or less identical to the Kaiser mount with a central support.
A word of warning to people buying, I had 2 active Brodit mounts that killed 2 different Kaisers because the charger unit was dodgy.
In the end I got another replacement from Brodit but I was too cautious of them by then, so I hacked an official HTC car charger into it.
I am personally gonna get the passive holder and use my HTC charger as I'm not going to take the risk again.
The htc supplied trinity/m700 one fits a dream but needs the bottom cutting out a little as the plug socket is in a different location. Damn good sturdy mount as well.
not sure I'll be getting any until it is confirmed that the pins are aligned and the phone does charge when using GPS.
I had issues with the Brodit one for the Kaiser and when it never worked they blamed HTC

Hi, yes I saw those I am leaning more towards the active one though.
Thanks anyway.
Messa
I ordered a passive mount this morning and a new proclip to see if they ship the right one this time!
I'd try and heed my advice about the active mounts. At least wait until some other poor guinea pig has tried one!
I asked HTC This:
Is there an option for the HTC Touch Pro2 with the HTC 3-in-1 connector bundle?
Or is this compatible:
Set A
- 513021 Active Holder, Tilt Swivel
- 945011 Adapter Cable
Set B
- 512021 Active Holder, Tilt Swivel
- 945011 Adapter Cable
In terms of connecting my HTC touch Pro2 to a charging unit (built in the car) and also using the AUX out of the device via the mini-USB.
I want to know if the 3-in-1 cable/connector is able to be “plugged” in into 513021 of 512021
They answered me this:
It will also come a 3-in-1 holder for this device. The item no will be:
519021 short cable
520021 long cable
I hope those will be ready within 2-3 weeks.
One thing that you need to keep in mind with the 3-in-1 cables in that if you plug it in, the external speaker gets disabled. therefore if you're planning on using the mount for satnav, you'll need to hook it up to an aux-in on your car speakers in order to get any sound!
so I've been using the generic ebay evo 3D dock that doesn't have any guide on the side and require one to wiggle the phone around to insert the charge tip into the phone. Getting a bit tire of this, and wanting to buy a new dock.
Does anyone know, beside the Seidio and the new Kidigi HDMI dock (too expensive) any other alternate options for Dock that would work with a case (typical TPU case)?
Yes I searched, there were a few thread discussing docks but no answer to my question.
No, I don't want to use a car dock like iGrip (i use that in my car already)
Thanks
I need a desktop dock and a car dock for my Evo 3D. Any suggestions for a good and cheap dock?
Is there a dock that you can put the phone in and it will charge the phone and also have an audio output on the dock? I don't know if this is possible but if there is one I would like to get it. That way I could connect (and leave connected) some speakers (or the car's aux input) to an audio output on the dock. So I could just drop the phone into the dock and it would charge plus the audio would already be hooked up.
If this isn't possible then I guess just a good desktop and car dock suggestion for cheap (that charge the phone) and will fit with a kickstand case.
Dunno about cheap, look around on pricing, but Kidigi do both a car dock and a desk dock (No idea about the audio bit).

I use the Seidio dock at work and at home. It doesn't have an audio out that I know of, but it works great with my case (also made by Seidio - I'm not sure if you'll have success with a non-Seidio case). If you don't have a case it will work fine, also.
Not sure about a car dock but I know there are several options out there.

As for home, do you have a link for this Seidio dock? I too have a Seidio case and would like a dock that will work with it.
Hopefully this will work ok. Sending from my phone so it might be wonky:

Sorry bit delayed but yeah it uses the cig lighter for support pretty good, I've got a really stiff head phone jack plugged in so it pulls it a bit and made it a bit loose so rapped some tape round the joint, good for the price.

Fitting Car Dock in Germany
Hey Guys,
as I am not allowed to post in the Developer Forum yet,
which slowly get's on my nerves (but I get the reasons for it),
I finally found something to post somewhere else that is not completely meaningless.
Does anybody know where to get one of those "good" car mounts in Germany???
I am looking for something like Kidigi Car Mount Cradle CM-HE3D, iGrip perfectFit Vehicle mount or the Seidio one.
I want something with USB pass-through so I just have to put the Evo in.
Even better if the Camera is not obscured.
The Kidigi one is my favorite. Unfortunately the official reseller cjdirect.de seems not to have it yet (i will call them next week).
Only other way for me would be form the US or HongKong which I wouldn't prefer for reasons like tax, delivery time and so on.
I found it on Amazon.fr for 25 Euro but they won't deliver to Germany.
Then I found it in another French shop where they want 41 Euro because of delivery.
The Seido Innotraveler is available on amazon.co.uk für 37 Euro but I don't like the looks so much.
The iGrip I coulnd't finde at all (in Europe).
So if anyone could help me out and suggest something I would really appreciate it. Else, I guess I will call cjdirect and maybe order one from Hong Kong or France.
Nearly forgot, of course i know about the official HTC car kit but I don't like that either, and for 40 Euro I would rather pay 1 Euro more for Kidigi one or go to Hong Kong. Same with the one from Brodit. Just too expensive.
Thanks
I use this one for my HD2 but with a different mounting part. I dont know whether both cameras are uncovered. http://www.ebay.de/itm/KFZ-Halter-H...alterungen&hash=item3f0facce90#ht_2721wt_1113

Thank you. Looks good but is not quite what i was hoping for.
I don't want to handle any cables when I want to load my phone in the car.
As I could'nt find anything else either I guess I just order the Kidigi mount through ebay from Hong Kong.
Ok, as I am really interested in a good car kit, too, maybe you could share your experience here when you have received the product. I am currently preferring this one http://www.pdamax.de/Zubehoer/HTC/EVO-3D/Kfz-Kit-CU-S520-Halterung-Ladekabel,hz-620:338.html or I will just buy a new cradle and put it on my existing model but it seems the major problem with most of the kits is the cameras not having free sight.
This is the official dock by HTC and due to the camera being obscured and
the high price I decided against it.
I will report about the KiDiGi dock as soon as I receive it.
It is on it's way already but tracking with DHL doesn't work yet (if at all).
have you look at the iGrip car dock?
Yes, thes iGrip dock would have been my second choice.
It has the best reviews of all but as it didn't matter
to me if I order from HongKong or the US I chose Kidigi
for it's looks and it's price.
I also found some reviews about the Kidigi docks for the Desire (I guess), here in the xda forum.
Were quite good too.
For all who are interested, you maybe want to checkout amazon.co.uk
for the Seidio Evo 3D Innotraveler Car Dock (not allowed to post links yet)
High Price but would have been my third choice, still better than HTC one because Camera should be free.
You need credit card though, same as in France for Kidigi.
Choose wisely
Anyone used both the iGrip and HTC car dock? I'd like to know which seems more solid. The obscured cameras don't really matter to me on the HTC one because there's a 99.99% chance I won't be snapping pics while driving.
As far as desk docks, I found this. OEM FTW.

You can find articles comparing HTC and igrip docks. HTC seems more solid, less vibrations, according to them.am on my phone, you can find them through Google.
and the camera is not only for taking pictures, which shouldn't be done too frequently , but for example for navigon reality scanner.
how much vibration come purely down to what mounting solution you use, if you choose a low vibration mount or vehicle specific mount any dock can be rock solid, I have the iGrip but I do not use the included suction mount as I hate having it on the windshield, I use a dash friction pad with a different suction mount that allow me to have it sit in between the instructment panel and the GPS LCD on my RDX, if I use it in my Mazda6 I have a Proclip vehicle specific mount (VSM) and that's super rock solid. I don't know about the HTC, but the iGrip Dock use the Herbert Richter (HR) 4 prong mount system so can use any mount that support the HR system or get a adopter plate, that's what I use in my Mazda with the Proclip, screw the plate onto the VSM and off i go, and if my wife want to use a dock on for her iphone its easy to swap also.
