Hi everyone,
I've been a member on and off for this forum (forgot my password again) as I have had a couple of Qtek 9090 phones that I flashed with new ROM.
Right now I am in the possession of 1 fully configured Qtek 8500 with custom software and ROM/Software modifications and 50 Retail Qtek 8500. These where bought by my company and I am in charge of modifying all of them. Now I do not want to modify every ROM separate.
How do I download the ROM (including radio etc) from the fully configured Qtek 8500 and copy it to one of the Retail Qtek's?
I imagine this would be the same as backing up and restoring it. But anything I read about that says that its very phone specific method todo so (and haven't found the one for the Qtek 8500).
Is there anyone who can provide me with the solution to 1) cloning the ROM or 2) backing up the ROM (and then copying it to the other phones).
Thank you!
Anything guys? Possible? Impossible?
How do you make those Roms for the Qtek 8500 ? Can no one edit ROM (not even with special license from Qtek)?

Hi, been rummaging and found files on the FTP which are listed under Alpine, they appear to be the same files held in the ROM image on my xda2i.
Is this the same device?

Truly, O2 XdaIIi, Qtek 2020i, Orange SPV M2500... came from one Manufacturer HTC-Taiwan, they have the same code name called "Alpine". It means that their hardwares are identical, and they are different just in Brand name.
VietNam -- Thanks for the reply -- since that post I've 'broken' my xdaIIi by trying to put the Diamond extended Rom image into it. Re-installing using the original Rom's from o2, I noticed that the upgrade file started Al, not Him/HTC, so thought this was the case, appreciate the help anyway.
Upgread on IIi
Hello, I notices that you managed an upgrade on the Alpine/IIi. I have not been able to do on because I get a country error code. Do you know of some way to overcome this problem on IIi? Thanks, A.
Hi Apap,
Sorry you're misreading the post (my fault for mentioning upgrade, rather than fix).
I 'broke' my IIi TRYING to insert a modified Diamond ROM into the extended rom area -- it (it being the process, NOT the Diamond Rom which I used on my II, without any problems) caused a locked device. I managed to get back to 'normal' or standard usage by using the Launch Roms from O2's site and the process above.
The mention of the Alpine relates to my original query/post and the fact that the launch rom prefix was Al not HTC/Him.
If you scan some of the other topics relating to the IIi, you'll see that mods are still some way off.
I 've got copies of BlueAngel (Greek Qtek 9090) and Magician (Greek S100) full roms. These Roms are the English/Greek (switchable) interface ones of WM2k3se with WM10, and lots of useful ExtRom goodies.
The Roms seem to be password locked and can not be opened by ExtRomEdit or any other tool on the forum/ftp.
My questions are the following:
1) Can I somehow unlock the roms?
2) When unlocked, is it possible to upgrade my Himalaya (Qtek 2020, WWE) with these ROMs/
Cheers.
G.
no 2 HTC versions can share roms
From that I understand that I can not use the Operating System and Radio part of the ROM?
Any ideas how to unlock the ExtRom part of it, so that I can use the country specific utils in that?
PS: Everybody is working on translating the 2.20CHS version. Wouldn't it be easier for someone from the experts of this forum to work on this W2k3se/WMp10/fully-functional/no-bugs/English-(Greek switcable)-interface ROM for blueangel and prepare it for Himalaya?
I can upload, if need be.

Hi everybody, im kinda new on the pocket word so here come some noob questions:
This rom can be used on my Qtek 2020i ? (UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe)
what is the best way to upgrade my qtek 2020i to mobile 5 + AKU2? (English)
I want to do a full backup of the original roms also and save the backup at my PC (i got a 256MB SD for that). Any good procedure for that?
Thx in advance,
Leandro.
Hi,
I just wanted to share my experience with you, don't know if anyone used this before. I've tried the shell_tool from the Wizard forum. Used a Portuguese rom and upgraded my Prophet G4 (IPL/SLP: 2.15.0001) (O2 XDA German) CID locked with success.
That tool extracts the OS part of the ROM (any ROM i believe) and updates the Prophet with the OS part, keeping the other stuff (SPL, IPL, RADIO, etc) untouched.
Info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293480
Don't know if affects any on Extended Rom (or other stuff) since I didn't installed it. Anyway, I only want to change the OS language, and it worked for me.
Just my 2 cents.
Regards to all.
WARNING!! Please, this post is based on my own experience, don't blame me if it makes your Prophet a brick. I've spend lots of hours searching and gathering info before testing this solution on my own equipment. You should do that first... don't try everything you see before you read a lot...
I have a unlocked g4 MDa vario, with the standard uk tmobile rom on it .
to make things easier I would like to put the Qtek (uk vodafone) rom on the device.
now I have tried extacting the rom and using softspl but I get either file write errors or invalid carrier so can not flash it.
Can anyone help as I like WM6.1 rom which im running at the moment, but my device just runs really slow but doesnt on the wm5 rom but would love the qtek uk vodafone rom on it as they are my carrier.
Cheers and apologies if this has been asked before (i did do a search but didnt come up trumps)
