Radio Problem With 8525 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I'm trying to run a Sprint/Nextel SIM card in my unlocked 8525 (previously no problems with Tmobile and ATT sims)...and it doesnt find any of the networks.
when I go through the list of supported networks I dont see Nextel or Sprint, but there is the option to add a network using the network's numeric code
I found 6 digit codes for Sprint and Nextel on wiki, and put them in with the "add network" feature...but it still doesnt work.
anyone know what i should do here?

Mod Edit : Reply with useful information only please. Strike 1

i'm sorry im not a network wizard..or even that knowledgeable about cellphones, but i try to make do... and places like this are for people like me to learn stuff, right?

As I understand it, what you should do is get a sprint/nextel phone.
Unless I've read the wrong info, sprint/nextel uses a CDMA based network, not GSM.

Unlocked XD1 - now how do I use it with another provider?

I had a pocketpc seimens xd1 with AT&T. I turned off service. I got another phone (cheaper) NEXTEL.
I used the Special Edition ROM to unlock it and it worked fine I think. The unit works fine and doesnt say ATT anymore.
I *thought* all I had to do was take out the now dead ATT simcard and install another card for a digital provider. (nextel) Well that apparently doesnt work.
It doesnt see the network on the nextel card. I am on 900/1800, but the network list only shows TMobile or ATT settings for America.
Am I the owner of an unlocked pocketpc I cannot get service for?

I'm no expert for your region and band settings, but I know that when needed, the band settings can be changed from within the boot loader menus.
NB : Entering boot loader menus is equivalent to doing a hard reset. You'll go back to you latest flashed ROM.
If you like SE ROM, you may find it even nicer to cook your own ROM from Lumpystefan kitchen http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Thanks, but it seems thier is something in the pocketpc or sx56 that is tied to only at&t or T-mobile.
I know that AT&T had the phone in "business class" and charged me like $80 month for minimal minutes and text msgs. Maybe it is not really wiped clean with the unlock software I guess.
owell. I guess I could always try to sell it and my wifes.
Doubt we'd get much anymore tho. *sigh*
when you change the rom you should also change overwrite anything related to the operator of the rom you had before
you say your device is 900/1800
normaly us is 900/1900 not 1800
could it be you were on a 900 network with aT&t and the nextel is 1900 ?
I dont think so. ATT was set originally to 900/1800 I think or maybe 900/1900. The nextell seems the same from what I can find out.
The nextel simcard worked in a cingular phone fine when I tried it out in a gal friends ph from work. Her's worked fine in my nextel.
I didnt get to try hers in the pocketpc yet. I will probably tomorrow or friday.
Other than that I have no clue. I know that when I took the simcard out of the pocketpc it wouldnt power on. It did power on with the nextel sim but no network settings.
makes a good pda anyway!
some sims just dont work for some reasons
try a 3th sim
I tried the gal pals Tmobile sim and it worked fine. I guess I can assume that Nextel just aint GSM. The pocketpc seems to want GSM
owell I guess I know now anyway!
no phone i've ever come across
supports more then 1 cellphone std as in gsm, nmt and cma
of cause excluding UTMS

T-Mobile US HTC HD2 not working in Germany

Hi,
since my phone was stolen 1 day before my trip to the US, I had to buy another one in California. I asked at the T-Mobile Shop if I could use the HTC HD2 in Germany and they said yes - I just have to wait 6 Weeks and request a unlock code. Now that I am back in Germany, I can't get a Connection with my O2-SIM card. Even with the T-Mobile SIM-Card there is no reception. I tried everything, AutoData Config, Connection Config.
When I click on Set Networks I get a list of all the German Providers (o2, T-Mobile, E-Plus, Vodafone), so the phone actually has reception, but cannot connect. When I click on "Find Network" it says "Cannot register on selected network. Choose another network, or disconnect your data connection and try again".
Is there anything I can do?
Thank you so much for help!
Alex
I don't know what to do... it finds all the networks but I can't connect.
Maybe I should try to flash another Radio?
I have now:
R 2.10.50.26
G 15.39.50.07U
D 2 Energy

Yes, did that! And tried to set the Europe- Types (GSM & 900-1800)
So, now I found something interesting. My original SIM Card from California T-Mobile can't connect to Networks, My ne O2-Sim-Card can't connect to any network either (but they can be found). But another FONIC SIM card (prepaid, germany) can connect to all networks!
I don't understand this...
Have you tried your O2 Sim Card in another working phone?
Ok, now that hurts. Found the solution for my problem: it says in the letter "Before you can use your new SIM card, you have to activate it!" Haha... I was searching the Web for 4 1/2 hours just to find out everything is right and I just have to read...
Thanks so much.
haha thats epic

*beer* for you good sir... everyone has one of those days.

[Q] Unlocked Aria Getting Error with T-Mobile SIM.

I recently decided I loved my Aria so much I was going to purchase the unlock code so I could use it on a prepaid service (I no longer use at&t).
I am ROOTed, and am running the Liberty Sense 2.2.2 ROM.
After I inserted my T-mobile pre-paid SIM and got the message "enter SIM unlock code" I did as instructed. It said it was accepted and My phone booted without that annoying please insert sim message. Yay right? Nope it can't connect to the mobile network. After doing a little googling and hunting around I found that the phone has to be compatible with the GSM frequency that the company your planning on using has.
Well this is what my device supports:
HSPA/WCDMA:
900/2100MHz
Up to 2 Mbps upload and 7.2 Mbps download speeds
GSM:
850/900/1800/1900MHz
(Band frequency, HSPA availability, and data speed are operator dependent.)
Which is apparently compatible with T-mobile. Well whenever I try and connect it says it fails and gives me and error message:
"SIM card not provisioned MM2"
After doing some google searches on that I found that it may mean you need to replace your sim etc. I've tried 2 different T-mobile SIMS and they both failed. Yet they both work in the T-mobile phones.
If anyone knows a work around to get me past this crap I would GREATLY appreciate it. It's been turned into an all day project and I'm nearing a tired and disappointing end.
Also info that may help:
-Neither of the SIMS currently have minutes on them but are both still activated under the owners names and display signals on the T-mobile devices.
- My HTC aria IS unlocked and IS rooted/loaded with a custom rom
-I can locate the 2 networks available in my region when I click on search for networks in my "wireless/network settings"
If you need anymore info to help answer the question please let me know and I will provide it as soon as I am able.
The phone is fine. It may be because you don't have minutes on the plan, or because the SIM card is too old or something. I'd suggest going into a T-Mobile store and getting it squared away.
Yes after several hours of hunting I was able to find someone who had the same problem. Apparently whether the SIM gets signal or not from the device it came from it will give you an error on the device you put it in until the SIM has actual minutes on it. The guy had said on his post he tried around 3 different cards and all had the same effect.
Sorry for the double post just wanted to update.
The reason I wasn't able to get signal on the phone was because the T-mobile sim card I was using was an un-paid Flex Pay SIM card with T-mobile. The actual prepaid SIM (which im using now) gets a signal even when there aren't minutes on the device so you can add funds to your account through the mobile phone.

[Q] Setting up APN

I am traveling soon and thought I would set up an APN for the FONIC sim card I have. (German GSM SIM) I wen to settings->more settings->mobile networks-> access point names. THen I pressed menu button and expected to see a "new apn" menu item ... but there is only a "reset to default". I talked to the verizon people and they indicated I have to be out of the country to set it up. Does not sound right. I have a feeling they disabled it. Anyone know how to put in an APN on this phone ?
On the positive side the sim slot is unlocked.
It might be the same situation as with the droid4. With the Droid4 Verizon disabled the phone to work with US GSM so it cannot be used on T-Mobile or AT&T in the US, but it works fine abroad.

I'm not sure. It's possible. But the "new apn" menu item is missing. I'm afraid the verzion people cut it out.
According to Verizon, Samsung has designed it that way...
I have just spoken with Verizon global tech support. The rep said that Verizon orders 4G devices factory unlocked. They no longer prevent the vendor (Samsung, HTC, etc...) from allowing the phone to work on another carrier in the US. However, it is apparently Samsung's policy now that their CDMA capable devices (Verizon, Spring, etc...) are always shipped locked to the carrier of origin and that there is no official means of breaking this lock.
This is interesting because it seems to apply only to mobile data. The Note 2 will function as a dumb phone just fine on a non-verizon network. However, there is no supported means of selecting a new APN on it, other than perhaps rooting it and changing that part of the ROM. So, assuming the verizon rep was correctly informed, shame on Samsung.

ARRRGGGG! This sure seems to be the case.
Same problem. Wanted to use Straight Talk SIM BUT cannot change APN. I have a HTC DNA with no issues changing APN. Looking for a non root work around else Note 2 will go back to Verizon
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I have to be missing something. This is the premier verizon global phone. How can they not let you set an APN?!!??? It's not global at that point.
When I talked to verizon they indicated you could select it when in europe. Could it be possible that apn selection shows up when you are over there and you put in FONIC (german) sim?
How would the phone know when you're in Europe to let you change/add an APN? Would you be able to just turn on airplane mode so the phone doesn't know where you are at and then try?
Well I've talked to Verzon and Samsung numerous times. I have found that each blames each other for no ability to set APN. They leave the sim slot unlocked but this is how they make sure you don't use the phone on any one else network. I asked her how it can be international if I can't set up a APN. She indicated in the small print it says not all featues will work, that is ....no data when roaming. But you can use it as a dumb phone. She said you have to use wifi. So rooting and addinf an apn will fix it.

This is not a CDMA device. I have a Droid X (Verizon). Where is this sim card you speak of? not there.

inside my house verizon is only service that works decent have to go outside to use att phone. turned atrix into wifi phone for that reason but has bad leg so if verizon will work after changing to cdma would consider it

Answered my own question. IEMI filtering will kick the phone and im not going to hack verizons data base to add my iemi to there database.

i may not have said it, but yes, that was the one piece of info i did not put into my answer that i was aware of.
Atrix 4G is not a CDMA phone, only GSM.
Also, if you select CDMA the app will crash.

did alittle research and atrix 4g radio is capable of CDMA but all CDMA networks do IMEI filtering there is also a block on turning CDMA on it says sim doesnt allow it so i was wondering if a verizon sim would allow it but doesnt matter if the network boots the phone off anyway so either way its a no go unless someone wants to hack data base on magor networks which isnt worth it and im sure verizon wouldn't be very happy with you as a customer if you did that.
To my knowkedge Verizon uses SIM cards for LTE only, it has nothing to do with normal voice/text operation of the phone.

exactly, and this is a 3G/hdsupa or whatever the acronym is phone, not a 4G/LTE device.
