I'm currently using Mogul but thinking about switching to the Touch, should I? your comments please...
I used the Touch for a few weeks and felt so lost without the keyboard. The extra ram is nice, but it is not worth the lack of a real keyboard, no wi-fi, and the screen is kind of annoying to look at. I ended up trading the Touch for another Mogul and I haven't looked back since.
If you don't need keyboard or WiFi or camera flash (or GPS, for now), then touch is better (smaller, more ram, better camera). Personally, I need Wifi, I like a keyboard, and I'd miss the camera flash. I've learned to live w/ the titan's RAM.

I feel the same. But if they had a Titan with 128 mb, I would snatch it up. The touch is MUCH peppier.
The lack of Rev A and GPS on the touch (for VZW anyhow) will be remedied in short order, no doubt.
The camera flash... I dont know, not a big deal to me. I dont know of anyone who uses their phone as their primary camera anyhow.
Really it comes down to the keyboard. "Business users" such as myself probably need it. Everyone else can get away without having it much easier.
I run Intellisync to communicate to our email system at work. I do a lot of email from the phone. Therefore, anything without the keyboard loses a lot of functionality for me. Frankly, I think the Titan is one of the better CDMA phones with a keyboard. GSM may be a different story, but our GSM signal really sucks in our town (and it's not 3G yet either).
Thanks for the comments guys. Yet, I'm still pretty undecisive about the Touch for now. Thanks though
i carry both phones (one is personal, one is a touchpoint for alltel) and i can tell you that i love my 6800 much more than the touch. i think the community behind the 6800 is larger and has more groundbreaking work going on and i also would be lost without a keyboard. given, i have been getting better with typing on the touch, it just takes some getting used to. the speed increase is VERY noticable between the touch and the 6800. i never use wifi so that doesnt really bother me on the touch. in all actuality, if the keyboard is your point holding you back, pick up a bluetooth wireless laser keyboard for a hundred bucks. that would be the difference in price (actually it would be less than the difference for alltel) and would give you a keyboard for the touch.
but how inconvenient would it be to lug around a keyboard. *let me text somebody back and lug out my keyboard*
I have heard a lot of people comment that they now type faster with the touch than with the keyboard on the titan - as long as they install a 3rd party full screen dialer -
The extra ram and smaller size are really tempting to me and I think I am just about ready to swap to a vogue. The memory issues on the titan are really starting to annoy me.
This thread should be moved to the general titan forum.

that is exactly what i was thinking of. its no bigger than a cigarette box, it would easily fit in a purse or your pocket. heard mixed results about the performance, but i actually think ill be picking one up for my touch pretty soon.
I've got a touch, I'll trade anyone for a titan (telus network)

this isnt a classified forum. in fact this thread was designed to help make the decision between the two so how about you chime in and clarify why you dont want the touch anymore and would prefer a titan. i think the readers of this thread would appreciate that.
also, and this is just to help you, the retail value on the touch is about 100 bucks short of the titan so you might want to throw in some cash value or accessories along with the touch if you want to make a trade on a forum that allows it.
One thing I really like about the titan besides kb and wifi is the real hardware buttons. I'm a tactile person, and need to feel the resistance of real keys under my fingers. Sure I could get used to a software keyboard, but it won't be as quick or as pleasurable an experience.

Oh yes! I could no live without that. I use AE button plus and it's so convenient. the most convenient is being able to use the phone as a flastlight when it is dark.
I started out with the Titan on sprint used it for a couple days and wasn't happy with the build quality. Traded it for the touch, kept the touch for 2 weeks then ended back up with the titan.
The screen on the touch bugged me, the viewable area sucks. The battery was the biggest deal breaker though. After about 50 texts, an hour of browsing and possibly ten mins of phone calls it would be nearly dead.
Back with the titan now.

The battery, from what you have said, would be a deal breaker for me. I don't care about the keyboard and was really thinking about the vogue for the smaller form factor. But I need at least 2 days out of the thing and from the sound of it the vogue wont cut it.
I have them both, just buy you an extra battery, and all is good, i did the same thing for my mogul, 2 batterys will get you through it.
i actually have not found a problem with my touch's battery life yet. it lasts all day for me with a constant data connection and some web browsing and phone calls. using opera 9.5, btw, its the only way to browse on the touch

My brand new mogul is having issues and Sprint is replacing. However they told me they couldn't ship me a PPC 6800 for some reason but they would upgrade me to PPC 6900 for free. I thought sweet, right? Then looked it up I realized it was the touch. My question is, is this really an upgrade? Should I be upset? The touch looks cool but no keyboard....
Should I try and complain?
Also, I unlocked my phone to use the new roms. Should I relock it or shouldn't it really matter. I will just flash back to the sprint rom.
Thanks
I wouldn't accept a Touch as an "upgrade" to the Mogul. Do you have any Sprint stores around you (the Authorized resellers, not just the ones that sell Sprint stuff)? If so, take your phone in to them and see if they can swap for you. I know from experience that pretty much every store I go into gives me a slightly different story, so chances are the store would tell you something different than Sprint Customer Support on the phone.
Definitely put a stock rom back on. Relocking would probably be a good idea too, but not as big an issue.
the touch is deffinetly not an upgrade to the mogul, other than the 128mb of ram, however i'd rather have the wifi and keyboard on the mogul, than 128mb of ram and no wifi/keyboard on the touch

im getting a touch im sick of my huge titan i dont need a keyborad or wifi i like the touch and the way it looks and the ram
The more I read about it the better it looks. If I don't like it I will complain and see what happens. I really don't care about wifi cause how often do you really use it. I do care about the GPS and it should be unlocked shortly with the next update. I really like the RAM though. My mogul always ran low on memory. But we will see. I should have it in the morning.........
I would say it's a case of personal preference, but I certainly wouldn't call it an upgrade...even with the smaller amount of RAM, I personally would take the Mogul over the Touch any day.
And DEFINITELY flash the stock ROM back on to it!

You are right Brother! Where ever I go, people keep wandering wat huge phone I was using but when they saw how wonderful to have large screen view they were amaze and was asking where I got it cos you can never fine any even on the auction or ebay.
I too had iphone before switching to Athena. Iphone cant do the very basic thing i need is my office files and the pdf files. Syncrionizing my office mail is a breeze which I only read on my train ride home.
No matters how , my Athena will be the last phone cum pda cum camera cum ipod cum video player that i will ever have.
It aint heavy, its my buddy!!!!!
I second you on that guys.....Been changing device and finally found this phone and so far really fulfill my needs....The big screen is just amazzziiingggg............Not to mention the power we had in this advantage....
Ditto, ditto, ditto. I've had mine 15 months now and I don't see anything, even "coming soon", that will be able to replace it.
I, too, still get "what is that" when I pull it out in public. A few months ago I was at the AT&T store due to a problem with my wife's phone and when I pulled my phone out every employee gathered around to stare and ask questions. I'd say its pretty hard to impress a cell phone store employee - and the Athena does it.
yup the reason i posted
every where u turn everyone has now an iphone. and they think they are the sh!!!. i know some of us have seen it. but as soon as i pull out my x7500 i get questions like what is it. no matter where i go i always get asked that and sometimes not to be rude i just say "me no speak ingles". the only draw back its not a phone where everyone in ur block has. it sometimes can get u detained like last week i went here in chicago to a federal building and the security guard pulled me aside after i put everthing on the tray to go thru the metal detector and kept asking what it was i showed the moronsky for 5 minutes and he said it wasnt so i had to make a call from it just to show him.
i think it was cell phone discrimination ;-).
i
yup
I like my 7501 too.
I have an input though, if only we could get our advantage that 10000% works in VGA with full compability and free of bugs. That'll be awesome.........

I've got a Touch HD because it's more portable but I still use my athena for reading (which I do a lot) and office tasks. After the huge screen of the athena, any other device is a let-down, screenwise. (sighs)
I've got spare batteries for both devices and usually end up with both, but using the athena more. I can't get myself to get rid of it!
permanent!
It's true...
Which other device can sit on my desk, on my monitor stand, not take up any space, allow me to stay connected to Face book through app - msn with voice and instant pic send and also stay connected to my home PC through logmein all day
I connect to an RDP on one of our servers here and I have mouse + keyboard plugged in via USB - I dont even need a PC on my desk to work!
- and still be able to read it from more than 15 CM away.....
then let me take aGSM call when it comes in?
Then let me plug in USB gamepad and play SNES GBA? etc...
I have samsung Omnia HD as my main phone but, if I take a bag with me, Ameo comes along!
yarod, have you tried My Mobiler (www.mymobiler.com)? My Athena sits on my desk all day, too, and this app makes a 2nd mouse and keyboard unnecessary. Puts the Athena desktop right on your desktop monitor, and passes your mouse/keyboard through to the phone. Or, you can set it up so the Athena becomes an extended desktop space for your desktop, but I haven't found a good use for that yet.
I love this app.

That part there is NOT correct. It is VERY useful.
Ciao!
again im a proud owner of the athena
every where i go in chicago i have yet to see another x7500. theres a lot of iphones out there and othet phones but im the only one with a nice viewable screen and lately alot of of people have those little cheap laptops with the 8 inch screen so all i do is sit next to them and pull out my athena with keyboard and all and all they do is stare. it still gets alot of attention
Ive had a htc touch and omnia since i got my Ameo but I still use the Ameo its still the preverable K9's testicales. Though I do love the Omnia, I take it every where as its slightly more portable. and very very stable. but it aint got a 5" screen. I pull that out and always everyone asks whats that.
Currently I have a Storm that has a defective screen. Verizon has sent me the trifecta of consecutive defective phones. They now asked me to find another phone. I was told any phone but the Blackberry Tour. Prior to the Storm I had a 6800 with VZW. However, after multiple issues I had to give it up.
Things I miss now on the Storm is App selection, physical keyboard and WIFI at Times. I guess most important is customization. I flashed many roms on my 6800 to open the GPS, speed it up and allow for tethering. Here are my questions I have and feel free to offer your thoughts.
1. Is the Touch Pro just as easy to flash?
2. Does the TP gain functionality like open GPS when flash?
3. Does flashing allow for undetectable tethering?(I have a itouch that I want to use with it via wmwifirouter.
4. How is battery life?
5. How good is the quality of the phone?
6. Your thoughts?
Thanks for the input.
I don't hate verizion... they just suck.
If I were you I wouldn't get the touch pro through verizion. They slowed down the processor, took away some of the memory, took away the ability for 3rd party GPS*, took away youtube and all streaming media capability and 3 rows of the keyboard. So even if you flashed the bejesus out of it, it would still have three strikes against it in my book. That and the fact that you pay the same price as the one at sprint and you don't get the memory card, headset, and if memory serves the screen protecters. Verizions touch pro is at approx. 70% memory usage just because it has the touch flow interface on, while sprints remain at about 32% under the same conditions.
*I think there was some lawsuit about the GPS bit, but i don't remember the outcome of that.
Sorry that i can't answer any of your other questions but i felt that you needed to know. So... Yeah, don't get the touch pro through verizion.

Exactly. If you're gung-ho (or on contract) about VZW, I'd wait on their version of the TP2. I believe it's a world phone, which the original TP is not, and not only is it uncrippled I believe, it also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack which other versions may still be using the extUSB connection only.

I will answer your questions one by one...
1. Is the Touch Pro just as easy to flash?
Ans: I do not know about the 6800, but the process is rather simple.
2. Does the TP gain functionality like open GPS when flash?
Ans: I do not see why it shouldn't. If the GPS is there and it only has a software lock, then erasing all of the software should take care of the problem.
3. Does flashing allow for undetectable tethering?(I have a itouch that I want to use with it via wmwifirouter.
Ans: They will always see the data usage on your plan. So, if they see large amounts of data being used by your account, they might end up assuming that you are tethering. Other than that, I don't think they can detect it (I could be dead wrong though).
4. How is battery life?
Ans: If it is anything like Sprint's TP, it sucks badly. Having said that, different roms use resources in different ways (normally far more efficiently than stock roms), so depending on the rom that you decide to flash, it is bound to get better.
5. How good is the quality of the phone?
Ans: It really depends on the network. The In-Call volume can be (and should be) tweaked by a small fix called "Audio Boost". If you do not use this, I can guarantee you that you will not be able to hear the person on the other side. Call quality in general is not too bad though...
6. Your thoughts?
Ans: I have not seen it in Verizon TP, but the Sprint TP develops something called "Newton Rings" on the screen. Basically, this is a rainbow looking rectangle in the middle of your screen (think of an oil slick). This is an issue that can render the touchscreen useless. This happens simply because the phone gets so damned hot when you use it for anything (GPS, Internet, calls, etc) that the screen gets warped and starts coming out of the phone. Your provider (and even HTC) will say that this happens due to applying too much pressure on the screen, which is BS. If you look this up in PPCGeeks you will see a rather long thread about this same exact issue.
All in all, I would not go for it. You could do what level5music is suggesting and wait for the TP2. Who knows? It could be better or just as ****ty
Hope this helps...
I had the touch pro and switched to the storm...then i switched back to the touch pro. Trust me, the touch pro is worlds better. You will come to hate the blackberry os, as i have. I thought windows mobile was bad...then I flashed to wm 6.5 yesterday after never doing it before. Its way easier to flash with xp in my opinion as I could not get it to work on vista, it always said it disconnected, but maybe its just my machine. But yes, you should get the storm, you wont get push email, but you get a KEYBOARD!
i love windows mobile but i wouldnt trade a storm for a verizon touch pro. it blows period. verizon took a great device and criples it to no better than a vga mogul, crippled cpu (note, the touch pro has enough perfomance issues already so this is worse) no g-sensor, funky keyboard with a misplaced "m" letter key, half the ram and crippled gps. i you want a touch pro, id get a sprint one and flash to verizon, otherwise the bb storm is the better choice imo
wait for the pro 2
Verizon has gimped the touch pro as far as RAM goes. (half of what other providers sell)
The problem with custom roms is that most of them will be set for pagepool designed for more ram.
There has been a new ROM released by verizon that unlocks the built in GPS. This is a good sign. I know people here are saying wait for a touch pro 2, but since verizon wouldn't allow you to get a tour i doubt they will allow a TP2.
I used a sprint version until recently and i got my palm pre to work on verizon
I've used a curve before too. I always miss my TP, even with my palm pre (not nearly enough apps yet)
If you have no choice and need a new device, verizons current offerings are weak, Id go with the TP.
The verizon keyboard is also messed up... the put the "up" key in between n and m keys.

i'm sorry that two words out of my entire rant were wrong. my apoligies.
Save yourself the headache - i have a TP and hate it.
Been using the TP now for about 3 months. I absolutely hate this phone. There were all kinds of bugs in the stock rom, and I still haven't been able to find a ROM where everything just works. The phone is slow, buggy, and the screen really sucks. IMO.
I am currently debating the switch to Tmobile to get an android handset or the iPhone. I have always carried WinMo phones, but I just can't take the grief this one is giving me.
It looks like I am not the only one that has given the same advice. Avoid the TP at all costs unless you can get one for free.
Verizon sucks...but still a great phone.
To be honest HTC & Microsoft are the way of the future. I have a Touch Pro and my wife has a Touch Pro. We both love them sure it has its issues but what phone doesn't?? Before we got the Touch Pro, we both had Moguls and loved those and can't wait to upgrade to the Touch Pro2. I would try to wait for the Touch Pro2 if I were you and I would definitly run and hide from any Blackberry, Palm or Apple phone.
not many people have a problem with the touch pro itself, but the you are missing out on so much if you get the verizion version.
I agree with the others.
I have the TP for Sprint (using JD's latest beta ROM) and love it!!! With saying that..... there are a few things that need to be improved..... with the battery being the main one.
All in all the device is really easy to flash and to maintain, and so far it has served me well........ but my next phone will be an Android phone....... as soon as Sprint gets Android....
ok so we all know that the htc leo has alot of cool features you can use on it and alot of its qaulity is unique. but unfortunatly it has lots of problems too. i so far has gotten 4 brand new htc hd2's and they all have bugs and problems within them like restarting by itself many times and freezes. tell me what u think?
I love the phone. But I also have very few freezes and have never had the phone reset itself.
I've never had a defective phone. I think a lot of it is things we do to them.

The HD2 is a wonderful machine that gives you best performance and wonderful features.
Especially when u compares it to competitive products or the price paid.
I have HD2 , T-8585, since January and never had any freeze or self restart.
All problems I had never cased from the HD2 itself. They cased from installing soft wares which sometimes do not work properly with other soft wares. That was easily recovered with the assistance of nice guys here.
Some problems occurred from defective accessories such as croppy cheap usb-micro cable.
The HD2 is wonderful machine that can be easily converted and modified according to your needs and imagination.
Thanks for the great answers ! I think its just the T-Mobile Rom thats a complete piece of crap. Because I didnt even add anything or tweaked the first 2 phones i got and they still caused many problems within the first day no B/S. Another quick question dough, how much would it cost to buy and repair an htc hd2 LCD screen, because one of my phones screen cracked. Its not the glass outer part that broke but the inner screen.
I am agree with you all, it's a great phone fast-big screen-cool design, but....
It's worth to pay 450 euro for this phone now (AUG)?? I mean I can wait for the next generation (mabe hd3/NOV or DECEMBER) thaat will have more features like an S-AMOLED and mabe a hdmi cable, and all of that with +50 euro.
Do you know anything about new HTC phones that will be released and when, and it is worth to wait more??? Thank you!
I believe the hd2 is one of the best devices on the market. It's fast, it has wonderful features, and now it is capable of running more then one os. Even the stock winmo isn't bad if yu change the rom and don't care about downloading apps. I believe for tmo usa, the hd2 is hands down the best phone they have, other then the n1. And yes better then the samsung vibrant, which is supposed to b upgrade but doesn't even have a camera flash.my experience with samsung phones has been horrible. I don't even think froyo has been released for it. Even tho it's ported, I've been running froyo on my hd2 since late july. As for up coming phones, google htc vision aka g1 blaze. 1GHz processor, medium sized screen, slide out keyboard and android. Basically the first legit replacement for the original g1. Much better then that mediocre mytouch slide 3g. The choice is yours.personally I love my hd2, but yu might just want to wait alittle while longer.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Btw the htc vision should b coming out before the years end. Also there is a rumored hd3 coming soon that is supposed to run wimo7. Decision, decisions lol best thing about the hd2, runs winmo 6.xx, runs linux, runs android, and most likely will run winmo7(I'm sure someone will figure out how to port it) what other phone can do that! Lol decisions decisions
*that was Sent from my HTC hd2 using XDA app*
i think its a Great phone, i love everything about it slim design customisation element big screen but unfortunately it does have its flaws eg battery life occasional freezing to name a few plus no further windows upgrade officially it looks like a dying breed imo but without the chefs on here this handset will be resurrected with android port coming through and presumably windows 7 the futures look good
I do love the phone alot and i do think its the best phone on the market but im just highly upset with its problems. My bad luck i guess hehe . I have another question dough.
What does the red or yellow dots on the back of the phone next to the battery on the lower left mean? I got a 3 phones with red dots but 1 with a yellos dot.

all that is a reset button. First it was red, then on the newer batch, it was changed to yellow.
For me, its the best windows phone I have ever used. Although if I was thinking of buying a new phone at this stage of the year, I think I would wait till around Oct-Nov or at least i'll wai for the first release of W7 and see if it is worth the wait. But the HD2's built I think is almost perfect(virtual keys at the bottom would have made it perfect for me).
Well dasz really true ! Thanksz for all da help guysz .. Ima jusz try to find the best rom out there . I wuld like sum help on dat too if u dont mind hehe This site is very supportive and useful !! Big thumbs up
Coming from a google phone for the past 2 years and then going back to Windows I was amazed how easy it was to deal with the phone.
The issues are the same as the others freezing, lag, etc. I think its the stock ROM itself, but I wonder? Sometimes it acts like my old dash and when you have to close the tasks and use a program to clear up ram space, it annoys me.
I don't like the windows market place, in google certain programs are free, but in windows you have to pay to use features? F-that.
I awating till they perfect a andriod rom to be put in the HD2 with no issues.
The good points of the phone is that it syncs to my outlook with ease..

So does this mean that no matter what rom i put into the phone, it will always be lagging and freezing as it normally would?

I wouldnt say that since most of the roms here seem to make it run better, but Windows mobile is crap compared to Linux.
The HD2 has the same features as my Andriod phone Google maps, You Tube, Google Browser, yet run like crap on the windows mobile phone. GPS take forever to lock on and the maps just has a differnet feel to it..Youtube runs differnet and the browser is crap
Does this phone really have a 1 ghz processor? It feels like my a phone is on 450ghz at times, again maybe window mobile requires too much?
I'm going to flash a rom on the phone since I am tired of the battery drain which is annoying
I have a Nexus One that I am in the process of selling since I like the Hd2 alot more.
The Hd2 does everything I could ever ask of a smartphone and more:
- Free turn by turn GPS directions
- Emulator gaming
- Word/Excel documents
- Bluetooth keyboard support (Android cant do this at all)
- Voice recorder
- Gorgeous 4.3' monster screen
- Tethering
I haven't had any problems with my Hd2 whatsoever. If anything Android gave me more problems than Windows Mobile. The only reason you hear about Android more is it's newer and the media want's to push it as hard as they do with Apple stuff for ratings...
I'm bored with my HD2. Because its working perfectly. I guess I need a new phone with lots of problems
I love the phone. It's design is great, the screen is amazing and the hardware is beefy. What really makes the phone though is the community and chefs here at XDA. I lose count of the amount of times I have reflashed my phone. With different ROMS, experimenting and messing around. It's a great device if you like doing that. It makes you pity the iSheep followers, really..
However, my main 2 drawbacks are this: 1) The battery life is poor.. although that is understandable with the screen and hardware it's got to supply. 2) the fact that HTC have confirmed that they will not be supporting/supplying WinMo 7 for the device. However, I hold out hope that will not be a problem for the clever guys here at XDA .
Hello all,
I'm trying to decide between the Amaze and the SGII from Telus, and the most important thing to me is the size of the keys and how well both work in landscape mode. I have large hands, and I will be doing a lot of texting and e-mailing from my phone as I do use my phones as business tools as well. It doesn't matter that one might have a slightly better camera than the other, or that one is a slightly superior movie viewing experience. I have always had physical keyboards, so it will take some getting used to lifting my thumbs between each keystroke already.
The dealers around where I live have all been reluctant to let me see both side by side, but it seems to me that the Amaze, despite being a smaller screen, actually has larger keys in landscape mode. Is anyone able to confirm this? Thanks to any that can shed light on this.
Telus dealer's should have no problem letting you see them side by side. At first they didn't want to let me handle either one of them but when I told them that I'm not about to sign a 3 year contract without looking at what I'm getting they agreed and allowed me to play with both.
As to your question, it seems to me that the Telus keyboard is bigger and easier to manage, but since that wasn't the focus of what I was looking at, I'm just going from (a rather poor) memory. I'd go back to a store and TELL them you want to see both phones.
Yeah the Telus I went to they let me try out the Amaze. They got one from the back that wasn't connected to anything. They just handed it to me and left me alone to play with it. I could have just ran out with a working phone. I compared the two but I never tried landscape. I would think the Samsung has a bigger keyboard because the screen is bigger, the resolution is lower so things are stretched out more.
i just got my amaze from telus (upgrading from desire hd) and i notice a HUGE difference in the ease of the keyboard. number 1 the duel core makes it keep up as i type fast, unlike the ****ty 1ghrtz on the DHD which wud be a bit behind, and the letters blow up a bit bigger to i think cause im finding it MUCH easier to type on the amaze. oh ya the swipe keyboard is awesome to once you get the hang of it
Thanks for the info guys. For some reason they always put one away before taking the other one out. Maybe I look like I'm going to take one and run out, guess I'll have to be more insistent.
I also noticed that the Samsung's keyboard doesn't have a comma, that you have to go to the # screen to get to it. I'm guessing that I'll be able to find one on the market that has it.

Are you sure the comma isn't somewhere on the keyboard above one of the other letters? I know that at first on the Amaze keyboard I was going into the # screen to get to the question mark, then I realized that I can press and hold the "k" to get the question mark. Samsung may be similar. Have a look.

There probably is one that's a long press, I meant a dedicated key without having to resort to a long press. Guess it's just one of those things I'm going to get used to coming from a physical keyboard.
Oh, and thanks for mentioning the question mark. Now I'm going to obsess about looking for an easy way to get to that

Coming from a physical keyboard can be difficult. I came from a physical keyboard (samsung slide) to touch on the Hero. I never really got used to it on that phone. The keys were so small even in landscape. I'm finding a huge difference with the Amaze. Way easier on the bigger screen.
I'm hoping the larger keys will make the transition. Thanks for your input. I see you're from the greatest city in the world (yes I'm a Surrey boy). It was the Apex in Langley, and the Telus store by the WalMart on 64th that didn't want me to see both at the same time.
I went to Best Buy and they let me see both side by side after a little coaxing. And yeah....I'm not too proud to admit I'm from Surrey. Not all of us are riot crashers.
Went back to Apex, finally got someone to show me both. The SGII's landscape keyboard is bigger than the Amaze's, about 3x2 mm bigger. Enough of a difference for me. In portrait mode, not even close, the SGII's was about 20% larger. Might actually be useable for me and my monster hands. The Amaze's camera was definitely better, but I was surprised to see some shooting modes missing that the T-mo version has.
I'd be happy with either, I'm sure, but I have to go with the SGII for the larger keyboards. Thanks to those who lent their input, I appreciate it.
Amaze Keyboard
Just thought I'd suggest the "Gingerbread Keyboard" from Steven Lin on the market.
Honestly one of the best keyboards I've ever used, coming from the MT4G.
Haven't had a chance to try it on the Amaze but will do sometime soon.
Let me know if you like it any better or if it even works on the Amaze.

I had a look at that keyboard on my Amaze and it actually makes the keys smaller. Particularly in portrait. The bonus to that keyboard though is the addition of a row along the top with all the punctuation. That is a useful feature. Too bad it was added at the expense of key size.

Oh really? That sucks. =( I do like that keyboard a lot.
Been using it for a year already on my MT4G. I do love the punctuation though.
The word selection comes easier for me too. Auto correct I mean.
I also like that after selecting a word it automatically spaces for me to start
typing my next word. And spacing twice puts a period. Holding enter brings up smiley faces. The list goes on. I may install on my Amaze anyway and see how I like it.
Thanks for the feedback though.
