Argh, faulty display on new StarTrek - HTC Startrek

The missus' pink one from Expansys is a couple of weeks old, and it's knackered already. Intermittent screen corruption when you flex the hinge - definitely hardware.
Anyone had any returns via Expansys?

Expansys returns
They are pretty good as on-line resellers go, i have had 2 i-mate devices repaired through them which all went OK. They are quite tight on insisting that you get warranty rather than a replacement if its over 10 days from purchase though...

I got one that had a faulty speaker and they swapped it for me with minimal hassle.

fussy about new roms?
anyone know? wondering if should put it back to standard first.

[Q] Thunderbolt digitizer replacement - need good source to buy

I have a cracked digitizer on my Tbolt that works fine, but is very annoying to look through. I have purchased both a digitizer and a digitizer/LCD assembly trying to get a digitizer that works properly. Once I install the new digitizers, there will be areas that are unresponsive or it responds without touching it. After reinstalling the old digitizer, it works properly again. I have cleaned the contacts on the ribbon cable and ensured the cable was inserted securely into the plug.
I have seen other comments on having the same problem after digitizer replacement but I have not found anyone speaking of a proven source to buy a fully functional digitizer. Can anyone provide a source for a working digitizer replacement for my Thunderbolt?
I've never used it myself but I've seen people mention this place for parts: http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-thunderbolt-touch-screen-digitizer-replacement.html
I used repair universe and had a HORRIBLE customer service experience with them. They shipped the wrong part on my first order, would not replace it until I returned the wrong one at my cost. I ended up ordering a second one, shipped the other one back at my cost. In short I paid shipping 3 times and had to file a complaint with the bbb, and Paypal to get them to refund my original order plus shipping. Can not recommend then in good conscious.

I have looked at that site before I purchased from a seller on ebay. Have you purchased a Thunderbolt digitizer from them?
Bump this. I have purchased two digitizers, one off of Amazon and one off of Ebay and on both the Home buttons at the bottom didn't work (the amazon one was totally buggy and barely worked the ebay one worked fine except for the home buttons.) I reinstalled my cracked screen after both and everything works fine. Third time needs to be the charm.
I have purchased from repairsuniverse and off of amazon, had no problems with either, although amazon was cheaper.

[Q] Reputable digitizer dealer?

I had my digitizer replaced a month before warranty was over and 3 months later it started acting up again (I guess im too rough with my phones). I had dropped it a few times without cracking the screen but it has dead spots in multiple parts of the screen, no matter what way i view it.
I have not installed any custom roms or partitioned the drive. I opened it up and re-seated the digitizer cable but i didn't have any luck.
I checked Amazon for a new digitizer but all i see is negative reviews and I have emailed some ebay buyers who were unhappy about their purchase (after already leaving feedback).
Does any one know of any reputable companies where i could buy a new digitizer? Preferably in North America for faster shipping.

I only know of one not reputable company that I try to steer people from. Repairuniverse.com horrible customer service, no phone support, tried to make me feel I broke their defective screen, slow shipping even if you pay for expedited, and only after threatening with contacting the BBB did they finally send me my RMA and replace my part.

That’s the kind of thing I’m trying to avoid. I know defective parts are inevitable, quality control can’t be perfect for everything.
Im sure we have some users here who have purchased digitizers that worked out ok.
I have purchased around 30 digitizers for atrix's, I prefer to buy the digitizer and the frame in one piece and I have found that your best chance of getting a working digitizer that is actual gorilla glass is to buy the refurbished ones, or original oem atrix digitizers, you will find them on ebay currently the only supplier is in london and he is selling 3 different qualitys "A", "B', and "C" with the difference being amount of scratches...but I see different people show up selling the oem ones on occasion.
Sadly a couple of the websites I used to purchase from no longer stock, or I received defective products, or they only sell to commercial entities which won't help you or they charge insane amounts for shipping from hong kong.
ymmv.

Where to buy replacement LCD panel

I have a defective screen in my TF201 which is out of warranty, so I am looking to replace it.
After taking apart my prime, I found that it is a Hannstar HSD101PWW2 which no one, not even eBay, seems to stock/sell. There is one retailer in the UK that sells it for £47 (about $75 CAD) which is a great price, though they charge £80 ($126 CAD) to ship it here.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to purchase these?
I found one site, however I'm not 100% sold on buying from them since I can't seem to find reviews or opinions on it anywhere.
http://www.os-store.com
Here's a link to the part itself: http://www.os-store.com/new-a-hannstar-10-1-lcd-led-display-screen-panel-hsd101pww2-a00.html
It seems fine, there's just ZERO information about this store on the internet. No one posting in forums asking about it, no one complaining, no advertising anywhere... it's really strange.
Any opinions? Experiences?
Well, tried os-store.com and what a mess that was... Assured me they had it in stock, told me it shipped, then a week later told me it tested faulty and offered me a refund. Not very trusting of Chinese shops when it comes to this stuff...
No one seems to stock this thing - any suggestions?
Replace with TF700? Wait for Note 10.1? Nexus 10 potentially?
Agh..
When I looked into doing this I came to the conclusion that the screen consisted of three parts the lcd panel, the touch digitiser and the glass. This may or not be accurate, it was hard to find all the components. My screen was cracked, it worked for a while then the lcd panel failed. I think from memory the touch digitise was still working when I hooked it up via hdmia. I sent it back to asus for a paid repair.

Sadly my problem is that the LCD panel was defective from day one, no problem with my digitizer/glass at all. I got flicker like crazy for the first little while and then ended up having permanent black bars running across the screen.
The repair on it through ASUS is $300, however I'd rather spend $300 towards a new tablet with warranty rather than blow it on another panel that isn't guaranteed/warrantied at all after the repair. Thinking I might wait for the TF700 to arrive in Canada, however people are saying the same issues exist with that device (browser lag, FC's, etc) so I'm not sure what my best course of action is.
I'd like to avoid ASUS if at all possible, but they make the highest-performance tablets right now even if the firmware for them is terrible.

Did you get your refund? I like to know as my company recently did business with these.
Yes, I got a refund however I wouldn't deal with them again. It's not good business practice to sell products that you don't actually have stock of.
You might order something from them and wait months before it gets to you (if at all) because they order it after you buy it, then they have to wait for it to arrive, then they ship it to you... Not good.

[Q] Cracked Screen -- Repair/Replace?

My wife's Rezzie has a cracked screen. Nothing seems to have caused it. All was fine when she put it on the counter. An hour later, it's got cracks running all across it. The digitizer still works. It doesn't appear that any shards have worked loose.
A quick check on eBay shows that used Rezounds are going for around $200. That's not a great deal, since we've got a discounted upgrade available at VZW (though we'd have to extend our contract -- yuk). The phone is off warranty and doesn't have insurance on it any more.
There's an excellent repair place near where we live that can do the work in an hour, but they charge about $175. The parts seem to be available on Amazon for about $30-$50. However, the quality and results for DIY repairs appears to be somewhat mixed, and the process looks to be a bit involved.
So -- do we leave the phone as-is? Try and repair it ourselves? Send it in for repair? Buy a used one? Buy something else? Interested in y'all's thoughts.
Personally, and I say personally cuz I'm good with detail and following instructions, I'd say try to fix it your self if you mess up your out like fifty bucks and have to get a new phone anyways.. but that's just me I just ordered a LCD, digitizer, and tools off eBay for my incredible gonna give it a try my self in few days.

I got my replacement glass/digitizer for $20.
Just be careful to document all your steps if you do it yourself, as I forgot to put the pieces for the capacitive lights back in.

Searching for a new digitizer

I picked up a Nokia 920 with a cracked glass/digitizer for cheap. Everything else works fine and I always wanted a cheap way to try out a Windows Phone. But now I'm having an extremely hard time finding a good replacement digitizer. I need to replace it because the glass on these phones is so thick and sharp it'll actually cut fingers. Very different from most Android phones I've worked with. I've tried several different sellers on eBay and had no luck. The first one had a perfectly matching ribbon cable but the touch didn't work at all. The next two had a different chip placement on the ribbon cable and the touch worked, but the home and search button didn't, though the back button did.
I'm wary of trying yet another eBay seller because the last one took a month to refund me and tried endlessly to jerk me around. The digitizers on Amazon all have horrible ratings too or else I'd try one of them. Replacing the LCD as a whole unit isn't an option either because I read somewhere there were three different digitizers used on the 920 that are all identical except for slight differences in the chips on the ribbon cable. So a new display could possibly have an incompatible digitizer.
Does anyone know where to get a reliable digitizer that doesn't cost more than a whole phone? With 32GB on board, wireless charging and snappy response with WP8.1 I'd actually like to use this phone.
Hi, I bought for about 22 EUR a digitizer and AMOLED replacement which works for my Lumia 920.1. I will PN you the link.
Best regards,
Joachim
