Does anybody know of a program for the xda that will record the phone conversation. It would be much easy to record all or part of the conversation instrad of taking notes.
Thanks
Nothing needed but the XDA it's self!
Guess waht? The XDA already does that! While you are talking open notes then hit the recorder icon and then the record button and there you have it conversation now being recorded. I use this quite often when consulting or troubleshooting with a client. Make sure to know the law on this matter. Here in the states you must notify the other party they are being recorded! :? Also make sure you have a large SD card and have settings in notes app default to SD. Keeping long conversations on your SD card will soon lead to a conversation not getting recorded due to lack of mem. So shuttle them on to a portable hard disk or desktop hard drive for archiving.
Fantastic... thanks for that. Is there anyway to make it automatic as when i am in the car (its on speaker) its hard do all of that.
Again thanks
You might want to alter the general settings, for the recorder, and choose a lower bitrate and quality. Recording phone conv in stereo and high bit rate will take up space very quickly!
as far as I know there is no way to have a sort of profile that you would in this case call speaker phone. There is a profile app out there. The only thing I know how to do is set speaker phone to default. meaning everytime you answer the phone it is in speaker phone mode. you have to then take it out of speaker phone mde if you do not wish to have your conversation public. I find it easy enough to just hold down the little green phone key for a few seconds activating the speaker phone when ever I need that function. Sorry this is an awsome device but cant do everything  There are car kits you can buy that may add or activate this automatic once put in the car cradle. Sorry it's not cut and dry :?
Thanks again for the comments and for thinking about this problem for me. In short i need to have a setting so that once checked all my calls are recorded automatically. That means when i first get into the van i just check the phone record button and all i have to do is then answer the calls and they are auto recorded.
Again thanks
Hmmm, and how about a program that sits quietly in the background, records all calls, gpg-encrypts them with a supplied public key and at night uses GPRS to post them to alt.anonymous.messages ?
We live in interesting times.
Remind me to never call you
There are some macro apps online you can try that might be smart enough to run this app, start record, and end record once a call is activated and terminated. Do a Google search for pocket pc+macro? Or just hit the software sales vendors sites. What you really need is probably to pay someone to write such a program, and consult a Lawyer regarding the legalities of such an app, not to mention a .wav file that automatically plays to the caller before you start talking, letting them know they are being recorded. Whew! Anything else  I think the XDA can also be used as a marital aid while in vibrate mode:shock: and with some servos, a designated connection, and some Souder you could probably also dial into your home network push 1 to start the coffee maker, 2 to preheat the oven, and 3 to run the bath  No harm intended just expanding your idea here
Regarding your comment XDA-dev* I live in the US and our little Homeland Security Trio is and has probably already been doing this  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) the black shades are watching you
I know I'm going to hit my head for asking , but why do you need to record all your calls "In The Van"  Hmmm on second thought don't post that after all:mrgreen:
Cheers,
E.
Thanks every for this. I did not want to open a can of ethical worms or think and double think. I am a wine salesman and get order / addresses etc over the phone and its a real pain in the xxx to pull over jot everything down. At the moment i am using a voice recorder where i basically repeat everything into but if the xda could do it all ....
Anyway thanks for the interest and the ideas
Well in fact, you can use any programme that can record, I used something myself, but it was long ago and can't remember the name... it was capable of recording to mp3 directly
Without the use of macros, you will have to manually click the record icon in notes or set a button to begin recording once hit while you are in a call.
Zviratko is referring to the mp3 record program which I can't remember the name either   but I'll post when I find it. This is a good program since MP3's are smaller in size and will use less disk space.
It was some VERY old programme for old WinCE or Pocket PC, for making voice notes...
The recorder program does not sound too bad or the macros... where would i get them from i am not a technical person. Or as somebody point out i could pay to get it done if it was not too much, who could do that. As for the recorder idea my current one (seperate from the xda) is on when i am in the van and is activated only it there is noice. All that means is that i drive around with the radio, another pain but ........
Again thanks and looking forward to your answers.

Actually there were only 5 states that required this when I last researched it. In most states as long as one party consents (this can be you), then it is legal. IE, it's only illegal to record someone else's conversations.
Carlos that good to know
Vino do a google search for "Pocket PC software macro(s)" and try starting there.
I was thinking about it and a temp solution until some magic software comes along set your XDA to auto answer in a certian number of rings under the Settings, Phone, More tab.
Then set one of your hardware buttons to record once pressed, under Settings, Buttons.
Now you only have to push "one" button to record your converstions . The program is caled mNote or NoteM. Check the online software vendors for that or just under their search option put mp3 recorder, or just mp3. It will come up.
That is a fantastic solution .... Thanks
I found a program on the xda hotvoice.exe does anybody know what it does and how can you execute it.
Thanks
What I have done is maped one of the botton's the record funtion. Then I just press and hold the button while I want to record.
To get detailed, I usually just repet when the person has said, they think I'm writing it down little do they know I'm recording my voice.
I then sink to my PC later, and create a task, note, email or update an address. delete the note and then resink.
my two cents.... thinks like this is where the true value of an intigrated device is!
For those of you who are interested, just saw on handango.com their new release.
I will wait for the first reports to pay the $40.- though. No trial.

So far so good..
Well just installed it a couple of hours ago and I have to admit so far this is pretty nice. No training needed, seems to work pretty good and has been dead on accurate so far.
Couple of initial thoughts on it:
1. Can't assign the button to activate the voice to the volume button, this seems to be an limit of the phone or OS and not the application. Basically you have to press a button that activates the voice command software before you speak, it works well but you can only use the calendar or contact button. Personally I would like to the volume button as I never use it for anything, and it is easily accessible via the thumb.
2. Can't seem to adjust the voice talking to you. I would have personally liked to adjust the ladies voice a little. Its ok though sounds ok though like all computer voices kinda blotchy and stuff.
All in all it is accurate and seems to do what it says. Easily launch applications, find contacts and dial stored contacts or a new number just by speaking.
I tried it, and not impressed.
For some things its accurate, however if all your contacts are english sounding names then its easier. If you have non english names, there is problems with recognition.
Additionally it seemed not to recognise anything with the earphones plugged in, and worse still with any kind of background noise, like in the car, no recognition.
Ive found fonix voicedial to be better.
I had fonix voicedial for a long time and IMO voice command is far superior if you have a lot of contacts. No training needed, from command to dialing the process is much much faster. Plus being able to control media player and view contacts verbally is great!
Does fonix voicedial work with an O2 XDAII ?
I haven't found the answer on there site... or perhaps didn't look well
Free Trial, DL and try it. Should work. It runs PPC2003
Thanks
hi, i'm often go on a motorcycle. I ask you if there is a program that answers the call and provides a message like: "hello, Mascarpetta is on the bike.'ll be recalled. thanks."
excuse me for my bud english....thanks to all.
I second this - this would be a great app idea. I've seen jailbroken apps for the iPhone that have a similar feature.
I've seen some 'Personal Secrertary' apps in Marketplace, although I've never checked to see if they have this kind of functionality...
Mobile Receptionist can do this by sending an SMS - which isn't ideal if someone calls from a line land, tho you should be able to determine if the call is from a mobile...
maybe you would like to try this one!

In Utopia, this software would do the following
1) Intercept an incoming call
2) Tap into the mic system and playback a predesignated audio file such that no one else but the caller can hear it
3) After the message has played, it then taps into the ear piece system and records the caller's message. Again, no one else but the phone can hear this.
4) Provide you a notification for the message you have received.
In reality, this is not possible. Here's why
1) Telecom providers would lose a pretty significant amount of money that they charge you for voicemail services.
2) I'm pretty sure that the above reason is why a lot of hardware manufacturers don't allow intejcting an audio stream into the mic system.
This is why you never get the result you want with all the "phone answering machine" software out there.
The way these programs work is they turn on your speakerphone and play the message loud so that the mic can pick it up and your caller hears the message.
In the same way, when the caller talks back it plays it loud and the mic again picks up the sound and records it.

i could not use it somehow.. can some one provide with a tut??
Doesn't your voicemail service allow you to create a custom message?
hi dear frindes
a software for android name"call my name" exist that when you use earphone say the name of caller(if exist in your contact ,if not read the nomber of caller) in headphone
i need a software like that for wm6.5 !
please help me to find it if exist
"Voice Command" does this for me,
I simply click on the Icon and say "Call Sarah Mobile"
and the app responds with "Call Sarah Mobile?"
and I say "Yes" and it dials.
There is probably a link to it in your start menu,
but if not use file explorer to find it in the Windows folder
and create a shortcut in Windows/Start Menu/Programs
and you should be able to use it from there.
You can use it for other things like "Open Media Player" too
Enjoy your phone.
dear rickth
ya i know and use voice command 1.6 but voice command use your voice for doing your command mean when you say something it search and find that (if exist) command but the thing that i need is:
when your listen to music with headphone and someone dail do not need to check the number by bringing out the phone from bag ,turning on the phone and then answer
the software read the number or name of caller in your head phone
I know what he means.
He means that when someone rings him he wants the phone to announce who is calling over the headphones. That way he knows who is calling him without getting the phone out of his pocket.
For future reference btw rickthecabbie. Not all HD2's come pre-installed with Microsoft Voice Command. Only the American handsets do. The european etc handsets do not. There are CAB's knocking around for it though.
Does anyone know of a way to alter the bluetooth stack on the TB to include the MAP profile that allows the device to work with car audio head units that read incoming texts over the stereo and allow you to reply verbally.
Whoever writes the app that installs the MAP profile could make quite a bit of coin.
Before anyne says it... I dont care about apps that read your texts aloud. I just want to throw my phone into my cubby hole or leave it in my pocket and not wory about pulling the phone out and having it accessible for this function.
ANSWER
FINALLY!!!
ThunderShed is the Thunderbolt version of CyanogenMod7. I asked the developer to include the messaging access profile (MAP) in the bluetooth stack a few weeks ago and he did!
I tested it this morning and it works without a hitch. It reads incoming texts and it allows you to reply with one of 15 canned responses handsfree. The only annoying thing is that when you send a text from your car it includes "Sent from my Ford" with every text. But that's not the ROM's fault.
Please be sure to donate a couple of bucks to the guy for his efforts!
I haven't posted enough so I'm not allowed to post an outside link but hopefully you can figure it out...
